Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

@MrsGarethSouthgate I googled something that said 4g carb per gummie... Can you get them in another form?

Eggs, kale, mushrooms and ham for lunch. Dinner we've going to dc's. They're on a tiny budget, are not meat eaters, and catering for a milk allergy so I'll just eat what I'm given - very small portion if it's not bc friendly.

Mimosa1 · 22/01/2022 15:31

@LoCarbLife that does sound tricky. I find having something crunchy - celery or radishes - really helps. Plus peppermint tea after a meal. Feels sort of "cleansing" if you know what I mean. If it's the mouthfeel you don't like, maybe try brushing your teeth?

@Feelzy I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL. What a horrendous shock. Look after yourself.

@ilovecherries I echo a precious poster. You've been such an inspiration, and I hope 2022 is a much better year for you after what sounds like a ghastly time.

Bless whichever PP mentioned the Serrano ham crisps at M&S - they are my new favourite thing. I've been feeling very run down today but I think it's because I've lost so much weight this week - almost 3kgs - despite eating a lot. To be fair, it's mostly water and I've got a lot to lose and I'm naturally thrilled about it but it's clearly a shock to the system.

We hosted a small family party this am for a fancy brunch. Everyone else had fresh bagels and I had a SLC roll. The toppings (smoked salmon and cream cheese, egg salad, ham and cheese, or tuna and sweetcorn, or guacamole) were all low carb compatible so I didn't actually feel deprived at all. Highly recommend for low effort, LC friendly entertaining.

I did have some strawberries while everyone had coffee and birthday cake so it wasn't perfect but I'm still pleased under the circumstances.

ShagMeRiggins · 22/01/2022 15:36

@Runninghorse

Morning. Basic cooking question - I am making a beef stew in the slow cooker. I would normally use flour or cornflour to thicken the gravy. Is their a low carb way of doing this?
A bit late to this but, as others have said, reducing just the sauce is a good start, as is adding blitzed LC veg then whizzing some more.

I’m also a fan of adding gobs of butter, then mixing, or double cream. Really depends on the flavour you’re after.

When we move to Bootcamp Light and nuts are allowed, almond flour is my preferred thickener, though there are other LC flours available.

Really well done, Mimosa, but for everyone else out there, I’m pretty sure sweetcorn isn’t BC friendly at all.

When I go into BC Light, do I worry if, say, a sweet & sour soup has for little sweet corn kernels in it, or possibly a few slivers of grated carrot? Not really, but I do try to avoid when possible.

ShangPie · 22/01/2022 16:03

For the PP who mentioned Cheesies as a snack, apparently you can swap 20 yeokens for a 20% discount off an order

missfliss · 22/01/2022 16:08

I've made a delicious roast pork belly with crackling for dinner, and homemade coleslaw to go with - am so excited

LizzyBennett · 22/01/2022 16:47

Afternoon all - @Mimosa1 congratulations on the 3kg weight loss. Do you think that the run down feeling might be a touch of carb flu? When I've LC'd previously, I've felt a bit like I was coming down with something as well as a touch crabby. Usually sorted out with an electrolyte supplement, or salty water, if that's what it is.

I finally finished the never ending lasagne and so yesterday I had:

B- 16:8 so black coffee and water
L - Heck sausages with a spinach, leek and garlic stir fry mixed up in a cheese sauce
D - Sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and half a tomato.

Not even close to enough green veg - I was exhausted after work yesterday and just took the easy way out. Will make efforts to be more organised when I know in advance that I'll be tired.

Today I made an amazing lunch - a kind of eggs Benedict/Florentine mash up. 2 poached eggs, bacon, creamed spinach and a homemade hollandaise sauce. DD had some without the bacon and loved it too (She also had toast).

Not sure about dinner - I think maybe the harissa sprouts and halloumi that someone posted up thread

Oneborneverydecade · 22/01/2022 17:04

@ilovecherries and @ToastCosILoveIt I am jealous, my shopping budget is more ASOS than Toast. I imagine I'll wear Toast when I'm a grown up (I'm 44 with 3 kids Confused)
Ilovecherries if I was the stalking kind I'd have searched for your photo in style and beauty and decided you look fab BlushBlush

Oneborneverydecade · 22/01/2022 17:19

@Benvolio and @missfliss your meals sound delicious

B: rashers of bacon and an egg scrambled & served with boursin and spring onion
L: deep fried halloumi and tzatziki
D: steak with blue cheese and green beans

I usually buy sugar free almond milk but don't love the flavour. I find coconut milk too coconutty. DH has bought me sugar free oak milk - I haven't tried it yet. Which if any low carb milk.is most like cow's milk please?

pinknsparkly · 22/01/2022 17:23

Thanks for your suggestions @Oneborneverydecade, @venusandmars and @ouchmyfeet. We went for greek takeaway so I had pork sovlaki minus the pita and chips plus a salad and it was delicious! Plus nice to realise I can still enjoy my favourite takeaway dish while sticking to low carb Grin

Today is my second day of making a really strong effort to increase my water intake (mixed in with the occasional coffee....!).

B: nothing as I was fasting
L: pork souvlaki minus the carbs with a salad
D: chicken with bacon and leek in a cheesy sauce

Oneborneverydecade · 22/01/2022 17:25

@StuntNun I did read that book but as with most things I read it went in one ear and out the other. Nonetheless I've ordered the book BIWI linked to in the prep thread. The article BIWI shared made sense w/o being too scientific. Fingers crossed

@ShangPie - that was me. And you've just made my weekend! I couldn't justify the full price of them (they were a joke Christmas gift) but with 20% off I'm all over it Grin
ilovecherries · 22/01/2022 18:11

Hello ToastCosILoveIt. Fancy seeing you here Grin

Thanks everyone for the sympathy about all my LC woes. Currently broadcasting from the bathroom where I’ve spent a significant part of my day. Sad. I do remember I did a great deal of moaning and whinging about how bad I felt the first time I did this, so probably serves me right for falling off the wagon. I haven’t had much to eat again today but I will try better tomorrow.

Hopeislost · 22/01/2022 18:30

@LoCarbLife I don't like oily/buttery food or the texture of unrendered animal fat. I get my fats from avocado, salmon, cheese and nuts (the latter only in BC light!)

@Oneborneverydecade If you mean oat milk then it can be quite carby even if unsweetened. I like non-dairy milks but not in tea! Instead I limit myself to one tea with milk a day and use lactose free milk (DH is lactose intolerant so we always have it in). The rest of the time I drink coffee or herbal teas (and all the water, of course!)

CeleriacOfTheNight · 22/01/2022 18:33

Hope you feel better soon @ilovecherries

Had an 8 mile walk today catching up with friends we've not seen since before Xmas. Pub stop in the middle, where I had lime and soda 😇 and my Low Carb Food Co pork pie....

...yeah save your money folks. The pie filling meat was lovely but the 'pastry' was more like a bread. Soft and spongy, not crisp.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained though!

ouchmyfeet · 22/01/2022 18:54

BaconOmelette I tried almond barista milk this week on a recommendation from someone here and it's very acceptable in tea and coffee

Lactose free whole milk tastes the same as normal milk but is low carb (2.6g/100ml) - same as almond milk
DollyDingleberry · 22/01/2022 19:10

We’ve decided to have a takeaway tonight. I’ve ordered a chicken kebab with salad without the pita bread and I’m very proud!

YesIcan3 · 22/01/2022 19:24

What is bootcamp lite,Is that after the 1st 2 week?

BaconOmelette · 22/01/2022 19:35

After a promising start this morning, I’ve been feeling pretty rubbish this afternoon / evening. It’s only day 2 for me so I’m guessing it’s a bit early for Keto-flu; I suspect it may be caffeine withdrawal and sleep deprivation. Possibly a bit of dehydration too, as my head is very sore, although I have been trying to drink plenty.

On the plus side, DP made some delicious experiment for tea tonight, really enjoyed it. Probably not enough greens, and hopefully the tomatoes aren’t too carby, but it was delicious and just the thing I needed.

Absolutely shattered so I’ll be off to bed early tonight. Hope everyone else is enjoying their evening meals.

ilovecherries · 22/01/2022 20:20

@Willlow

Good morning all! I've just caught up the last couple of days. *@Fleecy* I'm so sorry to hear about your mil, condolences to you and your family Flowers

I just wanted to say *@ilovecherries** you have been my inspiration from these threads. I started at a similar weight to you all those years ago and when it got tough I gave up and I used to read your posts of sts week on week but you never gave up. I then noticed you on lots of style posts looking fabulous and realised what I could have achieved if I'd carried on! I'm so sorry to hear you've been ill but I know if anyone has got this it's you. I'm still the same weight you were when you started but I have decided this is the bootcamp I am following your path.

On a good note my afternoon tea has been cancelled due to the birthday girl testing positive, much relief although not such good news for her!

That is so lovely of you willow, I felt all teary reading it. And you CAN do it. While the best time to start change was a year ago, the next best time is today. Thank you so much xx
SpottyBumPony · 22/01/2022 20:21

Good day today, I went to the supermarket by myself and didn't buy doughnuts snacks to eat in the car on the way home.

B Fried egg, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom
L Homemade broccoli, leek and spinach soup
D Thai Red curry with chicken, mange tout and cauli rice. Greek yog with cream

@Random789 - super cute puppy

Interesting chat about milk/Barisa etc. Curious to try lactose free milk option.

Did 90 minute walk this morning followed by brunch - poached eggs x2,bacon, mushrooms & a LC sausage. Coffee
D: sprouts, leeks & bacon sautéed in butter. Slug of cream grated cheese & wilted spinach. Greek yoghurt & cinnamon.
All the water 💦 🎉 First time this BC 😳

Any ideas apart from cream & cinnamon to spice up yoghurt until berries/nuts are allowed.

Roast beef tomorrow - it will be my first without Yorkshire pudding & wine for a while 💪

byebyecarbs · 22/01/2022 20:53

Thanks to the previous posters who recommended things to me - much appreciated. By the time I've read down to the bottom I've lost track of who it was though.

Today has been good. For dinner I had Lamb Tikka Biryani made with cauli rice, fried mushrooms and loads of spinach.
