Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

@Benvolio

Yes my arse is tiny. It was definitely the cat's doing. Also, yes, that is why I chose the name
That’s the spirit! Grin

Urgh, woken up feeling rubbish about yesterday...I had togo to a funeral, my boyfriend's closest and much loved uncle. Meant that even though I'd prepped but trying to eat a bigger lunch at work and mentally prepared to see loads of cake etc at the wake, I was faced with a less than ideal fish and chip tea with the family, plus my boyfriend wanting to share a bottle of wine in the evening. I managed to have a chicken shish kebab instead, with salad, but it was far from ideal. Also had two large glasses of red...woken up with the worst headache. I did my best in the circumstances though and didn't want to make it all about me being awkward. It is hard though, I stay at his one night a week and although I've done 3 weeks of dry Jan, I'm annoyed with myself that I drank.. his place isn't set up for low carb at all, I'll have to try to prepare for next week by bringing dinner, not easy as I come here straight from work. Will try harder!

Jezzballs2000 · 22/01/2022 11:43

@Theghostofchristmasarse that sounds really hard but actually like you worked out what to do for the future so that's a win. Good luck with the hangover!

I just properly read the rules again and saw that i'm in breach of them for each and every meal. Ok now i've got a better grip on them at least!

EwanHoozami · 22/01/2022 12:09

Welcome Bacon your menu looks great, and in a couple of weeks a few almonds will be fine. Are you BFing? I think there might be some tweaks if so but I can't remember... I think I was still BFing when I first did bootcamp but as that baby is nearly ten now (!) it's all a bit hazy.

SweetpotatoDumpling I like the look of Linda's coconut milk. I've been using Alpro unsweetened soya because it's zero carb but it's a bit earthy-tasting.

I've started to take some new meds that are making me feel nauseous so I've had to dial down the eggs a bit. Today's plan:

B: ham and avocado
L: greek salad
D: turkey & spinach coconut curry, cauliflower rice

the Pride brand is the lowest carb coconut milk I've found at 1.6g

BaconOmelette · 22/01/2022 13:01

Thanks @EwanHoozami yes I’m still BFI g, although he’s 18months now so he’s eating plenty of food as well. Hope your nausea passes soon.

Today’s lunch: salmon and roast kale.

Welcome to 2022's first Low Carb Bootcamp!
Random789 · 22/01/2022 13:03

Theghostofchristmasarse, that sounds like it was a really tough situation, and I don't think you should be at all cross with yourself. It sounds like you did as much as you could to minimise the carbs while at the same time compassionately going along with the social constraints of the funeral, and post-funeral events.

I think you should feel positive, and give yourself permission to just draw a line and move forward confidently.

Runninghorse · 22/01/2022 13:12

@Baystard I have left the top off the slow cooker - so hopefully will end up with a thicker gravy on my casserole

Runninghorse · 22/01/2022 13:14

@StuntNun grating a swede into the casserole sounds as if it would thicken the sauce.I don’t have a swede so will experiment with celeriac

ThatsAllFolks · 22/01/2022 13:18

Out with teens, they wanted fast food, we got subway, I got the tuna mayo salad box with only free items plus olives and cheese, plus extra tuna mayo. Brought it home and drizzled oil on it. Donated the cookie and drink to a random teen. V lovely

Doh. Green items not free. If only. Lol

BIWI · 22/01/2022 13:37

@Runninghorse If you leave the top off your slow cooker, surely that will stop it cooking?

Need some advice re: multi vitamin supplement that I take as I fear it may be carby, but can’t find any info to say how bad it is 🙈

What do we think?

Zonder · 22/01/2022 13:40

No it doesn't Biwi - I once made chutney in the SC, forgot to turn it off, left the lid off and went to bed. It had thickened beautifully overnight!

I guess it just isn't as hot so wouldn't be good for something like raw chicken

Runninghorse · 22/01/2022 13:44
@Runninghorse If you leave the top off your slow cooker, surely that will stop it cooking?
@BIWI Taking the lid off the slow cooker for the last hour was recommended by @Baystard as a way of reducing/thickening the casserole gravy. It seems to be working- I have also grated in some celeriac

Jezzballs2000 · 22/01/2022 13:47

My husband is about to have surgery and go stay with his parents to recover for a week or so. I'll be at home with my 19month old son. This is my choice- couldn't bear looking after sick husband and a toddler lol, or all of us decamping over to in laws. But its going to be a bit of a slog and I am trying to food plan a few meals we can both eat. He is at nursery during the day so its only tea I have to think about.

So far I have
LC bolognaise
baked salmon and greens
maybe something with coconut milk and fish, I think he'd like that.
I suppose something like cauliflower cheese with the magical cheese sauce

Any other suggestions? A few fish fingers on the ready aren't a bad idea...

Benvolio · 22/01/2022 13:54

@random789 gorgeous pup. Is he a parson Russell? I have one who is nearly 13 years old, but they are the duracell bunnies of dogs. When he is a bit bigger, there's no way you'll be under-walked!

Hopeislost · 22/01/2022 13:57

@byebyecarbs I freeze uncooked celeriac (ready peeled and chopped into roasties or chips) as our celeriac supply is variable. Not tried freezing it cooked though - if you do, let us know how it goes!

@SweetPotatoDumpling Will try that milk thanks! I miss my daily flat white!

Plan for today:

B: coffee (IFer)
L: bacon, eggs and avocado
D: steak, kale and creamy garlic mushrooms
S: Buttermint tea (finally found some!)

Benvolio · 22/01/2022 13:58

Looking forward to D today. I made a tray bake of chicken thighs with cut up leeks and mushrooms with butter and olive oil. When it was cooked, I added some cream, stock, tarragon and mustard to make a sauce. Will have it with spring greens and maybe celeriac mash.

As the second ingredient is sugar, I'm afraid that looks like it's a 'no'. I can't find any info about the macro breakdowns, so I'd have to go off the ingredients list.

@Jezzballs2000 no fish fingers for you though! One Birds Eye fish finger is 5.5g carbs. And I defy anyone to only eat one fish finger ...

@Random789 - gorgeous pup! My DH had a jack russell when we first met, and they are super funny dogs. Ours was basically untrainable though.

I forgot to post food yesterday:

B: fried mushrooms, egg & 1/4 avocado with mayo
L: fried squid rings and salad.
D: Taco meat with mexican cauli rice. I make this for the rest of the family with baked potatoes, scoop out the potato flesh and mix with the cauli rice and taco meat, then pop back into the potato skins and cook for another 10 minutes. I didn't have the potato Halo. Served with home made avocado / salsa concoction.

Ski wear panic is over. I made it to decathlon yesterday and got some stuff. The aim is still to fit into my old ones, but at least I have a fall back position. I have another pair of ski pants from almost 20 years ago. I adored them, but always felt as if I was quite large in them. Same with a gorgeous fur lined soft shell jacket I had. Well DD (16) tried them on, and she looked stunning in them. It's so funny how we have distorted images of our own body size. at the moment I think I am distorting downwards!!

I'm in the process of making an asparagus & leek soup, and will be doing roasted radishes for dinner tonight with whatever leftover protein there is in the fridge.

LoCarbLife · 22/01/2022 14:54

@DollyDingleberry

Paracetamol sorted out my headache, had a bit of a gall bladder grumble this afternoon (I don’t have a gallbladder anymore thanks to PCOS but also thanks to PCOS I still form stones in my biles ducts which block off the bile and cause the same gall bladder pain/ biliary colic I had before they removed it.. joy!) which is usually triggered by fat intake, so I just need to be a bit mindful of that and maybe reduce my fats a little bit if it starts kicking off royally. Hopefully this will settle down soon though and I can go back to eating butter in everything Grin

If anyone is still struggling with ‘fats are good’, I really recommend Gary Taubes ‘why we get fat’ - it’s excellent for explaining the science behind this WOE in a way that’s really relatable and not too heavy.

Thanks for that recommendation, @DollyDingleberry. Does anyone listen to any good podcasts too?

I'm struggling with eating fat at the moment. It's not just the thought of it being good for me that I'm battling (though that is part of it), it's actually the taste. I don't like it and I don't think my body likes it either. Even when I'm not paying any thought to my weight whatsoever, I will still choose to cut off any fat on meat, scrape the cream off a trifle etc. and would choose skimmed milk in my coffee.

Last night I decided to have a lamb steak instead of chicken breast for a change. I felt nauseous after eating it, and to be honest I still feel a bit sick now, having had cauliflower soup with cheese and bacon topping for lunch. I had the soup at a coffee shop, so I have no idea how much cream they put in, but maybe it's the bacon that's set me off. Any tips would be really welcome!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 22/01/2022 15:16

Happy Saturday everyone. I've done a fitness class, had a fabulous fry up, gone for a six mile walk and am looking at the thread for ideas for dinner. I've also lost another lb which is absolutely unheard of for me so I'm slightly gobsmacked but happy. I'm not expecting this rate to continue.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 22/01/2022 15:17

Another recommendation for Gary Taubes' book by the way. Really interesting stuff.
