Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

@Random789 aww soo cute! I know that feeling of things holding you back my children Grin I say come on we go for a walk and think I spend most of mtmy time stood still haha! I have told them today we are walking! So let's hope the plan works!

prettybird · 22/01/2022 09:25

So sorry to hear the sad news about your lovely MIL @Fleecy Thanks I turned 60 last April so it really brings home how we have to carpe diem Thanks

In other news, my local Lidl is finally stocking celeriac again after a 2+ year hiatus Smile

I'm down to 11st 10lb which is over 8lb since I started (a week early) Grin

Had an absolutely gorgeous slow roasted shoulder of lamb on Thursday night - with buttery leeks (and roast potatoes for dh and my dad). We were treating ourselves midweek as my dad is off to South African today for a couple of months.

I made "Barbados Mousse" for them as a dessert: cream soft whipped and then an equal amount of Greek yoghurt whipped in, divided amongst glass serving dishes and topped with a layer of dark muscovado sugar and left in the fridge for a few hours. The only reason I describe this non Boot Camp compatible recipe is that I had an inspiration and topped my dish with a sprinkling of cinnamon rather than sugar. It was lovely - the texture, being more unctuous than straight yoghurt because of having been whipped with the cream, was fabulous. I'm going to post the "recipe" on the Desserts thread.

BaconOmelette · 22/01/2022 09:33

Wow, finally read the whole thread and caught up (thanks largely to being up with the baby nearly all night). Feel like I can introduce myself now.

I am a total beginner and utterly clueless. I’ve picked up lots of info in this thread but still have a million questions so I’ll be going through the earlier threads as quick as I can.

I’ve been very overweight for quite a while but was just making excuses / not really bothering to try and loose it. DP announced on Thursday evening that he was going to “have a go at that Keto thing”, and without much consideration I decided to join him. We’re fairly clueless so I expect we’ll make quite a few mistakes for the first few days while we figure out what we’re meant to be doing.

I’ve not joined the spreadsheet as I’ve got no idea what I weigh (the bathroom scales got ‘decluttered’ into a skip sometime last year), but I’ve ordered new scales so I can keep track. I’ve also ordered a replacement charger for my ancient Fitbit (that has languished forgotten in a drawer for many years), so hopefully that will spur me on to move a bit more.

Yesterday I cleared (nearly) all of the carbs out of the freezer and donated them to family members, then we did a big LCHF food shop. The children are helpfully using up the last of the Christmas chocolate.

Yesterday’s food was as follows:

B: omelette
L: Bacon & broccoli in cheesey sauce
D: Roast chicken and roast kale followed by Greek yoghurt with almond butter and a handful of salted almonds.

Drank lots of tea with milk (as well as water).

Off to read the rules now that I’ve realised that I shouldn’t have had the almonds yesterday. Oops!

AllTheBlackCoffee · 22/01/2022 09:33

That dessert sounds amazing @prettybird, another one to add to the list!!

I'm off out tonight for the first time in forever so this morning is pamper time now I've dispatched the boys to football and done my usual weekend chores. It's amazing how much I get done when I'm not in a wine fog!!

Today's plan:
B: coffee (IF)
L: a plate of stuff that needs using out of the fridge - eggs, bacon, spinach and whatever else I can unearth before the shopping comes tomorrow
D: decided to go for a pig cheek starter, chicken breast in garlic butter for main (chips swapped for salad) and, if my dining companions are going for dessert I'm having a liquor coffee specifying NO SUGAR (week 3 disclaimer).

There will be a few glasses of wine too which I'm really looking forward to after 21 days dry. Also looking forward to seeing how it affects me, will pay close attention to how I feel today and tomorrow and how I sleep. I like to think of it as a selfless experiment really Grin

Baystard · 22/01/2022 09:42

@runninghorse if you reduce it well (cook it really low but leave the lid off for the last hour, though stir regularly to avoid the top going dry.

Another tip, though less helpful immediately, is to use home made beef stock made from slow simmering of roasted beef bones for around 24-48 hrs. It freezes well and is naturally high in gelatin so I find it makes a thicker casserole. It's also delicious!

Rshard · 22/01/2022 09:43

Lovely NSV dogmandu

Well done those 6lbs oneborneverydecade

Cute pony and doggy!

Can totally relate to the non wine fog alltheblackcoffee, I was inspired to clean the fridge this morning instead of dossing in my phone. Most odd.

CrystalTits · 22/01/2022 09:50

Morning all, I’m hosting friends for dinner tonight so am planning steak, salad and celeriac dauphinoise. What can I do for dessert? Would be v grateful for ideas (I can’t find the dessert thread!)

Baystard · 22/01/2022 09:51

Morning everyone! I'm off to a restaurant for lunch today, it doesn't have a great menu for LC so I'll just need to do my best. It's a gastropub type place and helpfully they serve the fries separately in a little basket and my DH will happily snaffle them. I wondered if they'd think it cheeky if I asked for a cheese board as a starter (rather then desert).

BaconOmelette · 22/01/2022 09:54

@Baystard the cheeseboard for a starter will probably be fine. My fussy daughter frequently turns her nose up at the kids’ menu and requests a cheese board instead of a main meal.

ShangPie · 22/01/2022 09:59

Morning all!

I think I temporarily cured myself of picking last night while making cheese crackers (listed in the veggie recipe thread)

Grated a huge block of cheddar, picking as I went, then baked them into crackers, picked at them while they cooled… 15 mins later, I felt so so sick after eating all that fat.

It is definitely possible to overeat fat, but the amount I ate compared to a carbs binge was way less and OMG did I feel bad. Lesson learned!

Today:
B creamy coffee, yoghurt w sprinkled cinnamon
L out at fancy food truck, will order appropriately and have back-up feta, cucumber and tomato salad in my bag
D roast chicken with FTGV (no potatoes)

And WATER WATER WATER

Strike that, I’ve found the dessert thread (how on earth did I miss it?!). Any favourites or big hits with non-LCers?
StuntNun · 22/01/2022 10:10

@CrystalTits I like this chocolate mousse served with fresh raspberries and whipped cream.

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/01/2022 10:12

Thank you for the welcome @BIWI. Is someone able to add me to the spreadsheet of fabulousness when they get a minute? Many thanks, fully committed to this.

BIWI · 22/01/2022 10:15

You're on it @ToastCosILoveIt! (You'll have to change that username though Grin)

OP posts:
StuntNun · 22/01/2022 10:19

Please ask questions @BaconOmelette we're here to help! Watch out for how much milk you're drinking as the carbs can add up.

You show 'em @Oneborneverydecade not everyone regains weight! It has a lot to do with how quickly you lose it as well as following a way of eating that doesn't slow your metabolism. In Why We Eat Too Much Jenkinson talks about resetting your set point downwards so that your body becomes geared up towards maintaining weight rather than regaining lost weight.

@Runninghorse I find that adding grated swede to stews makes them nice and thick at the end.

@byebyecarbs if I add https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SP31TCW/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttiFR4YECBDK47NC5ECN3ZB??encoding=UTF8&psc=1 electrolytes to my water then I seem to absorb it better and don't need to pee as much.

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/01/2022 10:35

@BIWI, many thanks. Toast and Cos refer to clothes not food Grin. @ilovecherries knows where I am coming from!

BaconOmelette · 22/01/2022 10:37

Thanks @StuntNun I measured yesterday and tracked in an app to get a rough idea. Looks like I had 11g of carbs from milk yesterday (26g overall) so I know I need to reduce that.

I do love a brew though so this could be my big challenge. I’ll try swapping to a smaller quantity of a higher fat milk (always used to drink skimmed - must change this old habit).

I’ve seen lots of people talking about cream in coffee. Would a tiny amount of cream in tea work maybe? Might have to experiment.

I’m alternating between tea and pints of water today, so far I’ve had one brew & two pints. Will see how it goes.

Any other milky-tea lovers please share you secrets to success.

Willlow · 22/01/2022 10:43

Good morning all! I've just caught up the last couple of days.
@Fleecy I'm so sorry to hear about your mil, condolences to you and your family Flowers

I just wanted to say *@ilovecherries you have been my inspiration from these threads. I started at a similar weight to you all those years ago and when it got tough I gave up and I used to read your posts of sts week on week but you never gave up. I then noticed you on lots of style posts looking fabulous and realised what I could have achieved if I'd carried on! I'm so sorry to hear you've been ill but I know if anyone has got this it's you. I'm still the same weight you were when you started but I have decided this is the bootcamp I am following your path.

On a good note my afternoon tea has been cancelled due to the birthday girl testing positive, much relief although not such good news for her!

SweetPotatoDumpling · 22/01/2022 10:43

@BaconOmelette I've just discovered Minda McCartney's Coconut Milk (got mine in Tesco but I guess you can find it in most supermarkets). It's VERY low carb and utterly lovely! The Barista version goes well in tea or coffee and froths up brilliantly in a frother 🤣

Have attached (I hope!!) pics 👍

(Please let me not have massively cocked up on the carbs with this 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️...I've been using it in my morning coffee and afternoon tea, so twice a day this past week - I'm on Week 3 now)

Welcome to 2022's first Low Carb Bootcamp!
Welcome to 2022's first Low Carb Bootcamp!
SweetPotatoDumpling · 22/01/2022 10:44

Bloody hell...'Linda' not 'Minda) apologies Linda!!!) 🤣🤣

Willlow · 22/01/2022 10:46

With regards to the bowel problems noted in earlier posts, I am the same with celeriac. My stomach is so uncomfortable and I am gutted because I absolutely love it and it is such a staple of lchf

BaconOmelette · 22/01/2022 10:51

Excellent, thanks @SweetPotatoDumpling that’s one to add to the shopping list 😊

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 22/01/2022 10:52

@Random789 what a cutie! Congratulations!

Jezzballs2000 · 22/01/2022 10:58

Morning all! I've ended up having to do a surprise weekend isolation as my husband is having surgery next week. He wasn't told and didn't check so we had to cancel all our plans for his birthday which included our first gig in a billion years and friends coming to stay. I also didn't get a chance to shop so the fridge was a bit limited and combined with my slight confusion over what is allowed (plus a fear of not getting enough fibre):

B: 2 eggs with spinach mushrooms and butter on flaxseed pancakes (1 egg, milk, bicarb vinegar salt)
L: black beans courgette pepper onions with mexican seasoning and cheddar plus EVOO
D: indian takeaway, lamb tikka and veg which i though was so clever until i realised of course there must be sugar and starch in the sauce and probably blew the whole thing.

I was on day 3 of a menstrual migraine so feeling pretty shit but at least the toddler was staying at in laws to ensure a bit of rest. I slept terribly but think the migraine is now gone- just in time for some keto flu! (if i drop my carbs low enough).

I have now managed to get a ton of veg and meat and also cream delivered in and started my day with creamy decaf and also some greek yoghurt, cream and frozen berries (also belatedly realised these are not allowed).

I'm going back to the beginning to re read everything! Blush
