Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

I'm loving bootcamp so far this week - eating decadent food and shedding weight. This is my third week (I did bootcamp light for two weeks to ease in) so I'm past all the headaches and cravings and full of energy.

Quick question - does celeriac count as one of your five a day or is it more in the potato category?

Today's food has been delicious:-

Breakfast: Croque monsieur fried in lurpak (seriously low carb bread)
Lunch: Bowl of pureed celeriac with butter, black pepper and grated extra mature cheddar
Dinner: Chicken Tikka Biryani (made with cauliflower rice fried in butter and chilli oil till golden brown)

BIWI · 21/01/2022 19:46

@byebyecarbs 5 a day is a marketing construction. Don't worry about it.

As long as you're getting your carbs mainly from veg/salad, you'll be fine.

OP posts:
BIWI · 21/01/2022 19:47

... but looking at your menus, I would definitely have added some green veg and/or salad to your lunch/dinner!

QueenOfHiraeth · 21/01/2022 19:56

@BIWI

Do you have eggs *@QueenOfHiraeth*? You could always make a couple of thin omelettes, which you roll up and slice finely, to add to your stir-fry. One egg per omelette, and fry each separately, so that you make a thin omelette.

Add sesame oil to your stir-fry when it's cooked (assuming you have any!) as this will also increase the fat.

Thank you, I did debate that but the thought of it didn't grab me. I found some tempura prawns in the freezer and had those but left the batter. Sadly I was cross and still hungry afterwards so ate some sliced apple and peanut butter but will clamber, red-faced, back onto the wagon now.
RagzRebooted · 21/01/2022 19:59

Evening all. Sorry some of you are suffering with itching, carb flu and upset tummies. It will all pass.

Breakfast - Creamy coffee at 7am, Greek yoghurt around 10am (the Aldi single serving pots that come in a pack of 4 are so creamy!)
Lunch - meat stick (I really need to stop eating so much processed pork!) and vegetable soup.
Dinner - chicken curry (DH does use jars of sauce, but he adds so much butter and other stuff that they are gorgeous) and celeriac chips (work well with curry as the strong flavour is muted by the spices).

Plodding on with the water but haven't made it to 3.5l yet! I'm at 1.5l now and usually end the day on 2.5l. Like @foxlover47 I drink too much black coffee and not enough water during the day (Black coffee is just dark, coffee flavoured water though, right?).

byebyecarbs · 21/01/2022 19:59

@BIWI that will be my mission for tomorrow then - more green veg. I did have a big stick of celery earlier too only just remembered when you mentioned salad. Even though it's a marketing construction, I'm still curious as to whether celeriac counts as veg or not? Or if it's like potato and doesn't count.

GET. IN. ME.

Welcome to 2022's first Low Carb Bootcamp!
BSky · 21/01/2022 20:10

Evening all

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling great @ilovecherries. The itching thing some people have is really odd. Hope it passes soon as that must be really unpleasant. Also hope folk with covid don’t suffer too much.

I had a seedlip with soda water lots of ice lemon & a rosemary twig before dinner swerving the wine on offer. I also avoided picking at the chocolate biscuits in the fridge or digging into in to the vegetable crisps my kids had. All good but I have not had enough green veg/salad or anywhere near enough water. Feel bloated.

Struggling with water as it’s so cold but going to try hot water, lemon slices & maybe mix it up with some fresh ginger occasionally.
I like the elderberry & echinacea pukka tea.

BSky · 21/01/2022 20:12

Oooh @DollyDingleberry - that looks amazing. 👏

DollyDingleberry · 21/01/2022 20:18

It is Grin

Pressure cooked then air fried belly pork. It’s like a giant meaty pork scratching and will be the father of my next child Grin

foxlover47 · 21/01/2022 20:20

@RagzRebooted yes dark flavoured water 🙌🙌🙌I'm
Going with that 🙌
I'm struggling to hit the 3.5l too , more than sticking to this plan which is really odd for me
I can't get to like the taste of Greek yoghurt , I wish I could because I don't like milk

ThatsAllFolks · 21/01/2022 20:27

It's the weekend, swop out the tapwatrr for San Pellegrino. Even nice at room temperature and six litres for the same price as a bottle of the cheapest plonk.

YesIcan3 · 21/01/2022 20:31

Evening everyone! Well ots Friday and guess what I'm not doing......drinking wine 🙃 I normally have a Friday night wine as a little iv got through the week sort of thing and it's something myself and dp look forward too but no I made a nice curry with cream was lovely there was rice and nan bread too! But guess what I had a bloody big plate of broccoli on the side of my curry Grin forgot to bit a cauliflower whilst I was out so next best thing....come on I think I'm on it and so proud of myself for not bein a creature of habit!

YesIcan3 · 21/01/2022 20:37

Oooh @SummerSazz I love broccoli and stilton soup, will use that recipe thanks

AllTheBlackCoffee · 21/01/2022 20:42

Think I'm developing a bit of an issue with butter. Is it possible to eat too much? I just had sausages, celeriac mash (with butter of course) and broccoli and melted a chunk of butter to drizzle over the top like gravy Blush Was bloody lovely but can't help feel it's a bit duuurrrttyy.

@byebyecarbs how did you make your croque monsieur? Sounds delicious!! I've got some SLCB in the freezer...

byebyecarbs · 21/01/2022 20:45

@AllTheBlackCoffee I lightly toast the bread and then put ham and grated cheese between the two slices of bread. I then microwave it for 30 seconds to melt the cheese. Then I fry the sandwich in butter turning once. It's the most delicious thing ever.

foxlover47 · 21/01/2022 20:46

@ThatsAllFolks a that sounds a great idea I haven't drank that in a long time , thanks :)

pinknsparkly · 21/01/2022 20:48

Happy Friday evening all! And congratulations on making it through the first working week Grin after a bit of a failure on Tuesday, I'm pleased that I've managed to turn it around for the rest of the week!

Quick plea for help.... tomorrow my sister and partner are visiting and we'll be ordering takeaway. Does anyone have any low carb suggestions? Or should I just stick to my own food and leave them to it?

AllTheBlackCoffee · 21/01/2022 20:52

Oooh thanks @byebyecarbs, that's going on the menu for next week!!

foxlover47 · 21/01/2022 20:55

Something I have noticed and of course I only started Monday is my energy is a bit better ... I've not long moved house and still have things in boxes In my room that I've put off sorting and today I went up and got through at least 3/4
Weird because it's been like a big mental challenge to do it for me

RagzRebooted · 21/01/2022 20:56

I'm so having this when I get home from my vaccination shift tomorrow! 7:30-12:30 and no break, will be too early to eat breakfast so I'll need a nice buttery substantial lunch.

Oneborneverydecade · 21/01/2022 20:59

@pinknsparkly I think BIWI generally recommends tandoori chicken style dishes. Hold the sauces, rice and naan. Chinese and Thai are much harder.

We went to Nandos this evening. I ordered the butterfly chicken, broccoli and macho peas. The peas have 17g carbs per serving.
If you ate out and consumed 17g of carbs would that be good or bad?

My other meal was a pork chop with Asian style salad courtesy of DH. Had this spread over breakfast and lunch

I definitely suffered keto itch when I began LC. I hadn't found bootcamp and thought I needed to avoid carbs all together

AllTheBlackCoffee · 21/01/2022 21:13

@CrystalTits not quite menopausal yet but with you on the hypothyroid. It's a nightmare isn't it. I was only diagnosed in May so am still trying to figure out my dosage - up to 100mg and still nowhere near sorted. Ive put on two stone in the last two years so am throwing everything I have at this. Good luck!!

venusandmars · 21/01/2022 21:15

@AllTheBlackCoffee @RagzRebooted I make a similar version but dip it in egg before frying (like a french toast version). The egg soaks into the toast a little so it is softer. And bloody delicious.

@pinknsparkly kebabs and salad? indian has some good options. I usually avoid Chinese and just cook that at home.

DollyDingleberry · 21/01/2022 21:15

17g of carbs is a lot, you’d be better with slaw probably?
