Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

@StuntNun

I find McDonalds isn't too bad OneBorn if you order through the screens you can remove buns and sweet sauces and sometimes add extra bacon or extra cheese. I used to go a lot when my kids were younger and order a double cheeseburger and a side salad. The only downside is their salad dressings so I used to take a pot of homemade vinaigrette with me!
I actually took my own seriously low carb roll to McDonald's once and ordered my burger (with extra bacon and cheese) without bun and put it into that. Was really good!
pinknsparkly · 19/01/2022 12:20

Afternoon all,

After a rather epic fail on the low carb front yesterday, I'm back on it today.

B: nothing. fasting until lunchtime, powered by a black chai tea.
L: some sort of egg and avocado combo (Tesco delivery coming this afternoon and the fridge is rather bare!)
D: will depend on the use by dates of the Tesco delivery (I mix up the order of my meal plan based on use by dates), but likely to be some sort of chicken in a creamy sauce with loads of buttery veggies

And trying (rather unsuccessfully) to keep up with the water. I've managed half a pint so far today..... Sad

CoffeeChocolateWine · 19/01/2022 12:23

Thanks @BIWI, really helpful.

pinknsparkly · 19/01/2022 12:24

Immediately after posting that message, my husband appeared with a cheese toastie for me.... It took so much willpower to turn it down!!

Zonder · 19/01/2022 12:27

I've had covid for a week so am not in charge of my own meals - DH doing his best but I'm not able to stick to the rules fully. I've lost 6lb so far though... Hoping it isn't all just covid and will come back on once I'm better!

AllTheBlackCoffee · 19/01/2022 12:46

@RagzRebooted what a bloody marvellous idea that is. Next time I fancy a Maccy's that is exactly what I'm doing!!

BIWI · 19/01/2022 12:48

@pinknsparkly what provoked the fall off the wagon? I know you've done LC before, so it's important that you can identify (and deal with) the trigger(s) - after all, yesterday was only day 2!

@Zonder that's good going! Hopefully it will stick once you're better.

Good call Ragz

YesIcan3 · 19/01/2022 13:03

Afternoon all. I'm feeling a bit blah moody 😕
Bit going strong and I can't belive how much I have just enjoyed the buttery cabbage, at first I was like hmmm I only eat cabbage with gravy haha but again been proved wrong 😅

ToddlingForwards · 19/01/2022 13:10

Afternoon all!

Tried microwaving chorizo slices this morning, they were excellent! Thanks for that tip.

Going to put a low carb bread order in later I think, useful to have the rolls in the freezer as a quick option.

Today’s meals…
B - scrambled eggs and mushrooms
Snack - chorizo crisps
L - salad, plenty of dressing, halloumi
D - cheeseburger pie - so excellent timing of posting the recipe @BIWI! I always do it in a casserole dish, so will try using my brownie pan tonight.

DearZoom · 19/01/2022 14:01

Hello everyone. I think I’ve caught up and have enjoyed reading your posts.

It’s my day off today and I’ve made a batch of chicken casserole. 1 portion for tomorrow’s lunch and 4 for the freezer.

I’m definitely not so hungry today, but I have found myself mindlessly picking once or twice. I’ll have to work on this!

B: coffee and a dash of cream.
L: hot smoked salmon and avocado salad (with lettuce and cucumber)
D: sea bass and broccoli.

I’m getting really confused about which are lower carb - onion or shallot. I know on here shallots are always suggested, but elsewhere I’ve seen that shallots have double the carbs of most onions. Am I missing something?

RagzRebooted · 19/01/2022 14:14

I'm actually sitting in McDonald's right now, with my low carb roll, awaiting my burger! After posting this earlier I had such a craving and we had to go shopping anyway... I'll try not to look at DH's fries. Treating myself to a flat white with it, as my pudding /fries replacement! It has 8g of carbs, so definitely for treats only.

pinknsparkly · 19/01/2022 14:18

@BIWI - mostly sleep deprivation/complete exhaustion, and some dehydration due to not being on point with my water intake! My daughter is going through the 18 month sleep regression at the moment so I'm doing well if I manage to get 5 hours of broken sleep each night. I'm definitely someone that needs a good 8+ hours sleep to feel human. I had a blood test recently that came back with a normal Hb1Ac (hurrah!) but high cortisol. The recommendation was that I work on my sleep hygiene to improve my sleep.... Sadly my daughter hasn't read the memo Grin

psed · 19/01/2022 14:25

Less headachey today, but very tired. The whoever asked about harissa I use it on any veg. Roasted harissa aubergines are nice, or salmon if you’re a fish eater. Miso aubergines also work really well and will help with the salt intake. It is a bit carby, but only need to use a teaspoon.

B: leftover mushroom omelette
L: soya yoghurt and seeds
D: tofu and FLGV stir fry

HaggisTheGreat · 19/01/2022 14:40

Hello, everyone! Joining in and determined to stick to the rules.

Excited to learn about mini Boursin portions. I don’t normally buy it as can eat a whole pack in one sitting Blush. Hopefully this way I can be more restrained.
Also can’t wait to try the microwave chorizo.

On water, I find any herbal teabags work in cold water; I like the red fruit type ones, especially in sparkling water. I also like adding rosemary to a water jug; it smells lovely.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 19/01/2022 14:49

Cheeseburger pie looks amazing.

queenofcauliflower · 19/01/2022 14:57

Hello all,

Thanks for sharing all the recipes, tips and photos!

I am just posting quickly to share my amazing lunch with you all - sliced up shoogled sprouts cooked with lots of butter with added crispy diced bacon cooked with lots of butter, sprouts fried with the bacon at the end and served with some cheddar on top - God it was amazing!

queenofcauliflower · 19/01/2022 14:57

PS 2kg down already!

ilovecherries · 19/01/2022 15:01

Like others, feeling a bit blah, exhausted and headachy today (and smelly!). I’m seriously thinking about having a power nap under the heated blanket. I’m supposed to try and stay awake during the day and develop better night time sleep habits, but I’m so sleepy. Had leftover tuna mayo and raw spinach for breakfast and a ham and mushroom omelette with spinach and tomatoes for lunch. Butter in the omelette and evoo on the leaves. Feeling very full but also vaguely unsatisfied if that makes sense.

On a more positive note - I adore Harissa. I roast cauliflower florets in it, and spread it on salmon or chicken. It perks up everything.

ilovecherries · 19/01/2022 15:05

I even make my own harissa as the pre made stuff often has sugar. 😇

@DearZoom

Another one I have to ask - are you a long-term low carber? If not, why no breakfast?

(Apologies if you are LCer. I have no idea who is or isn't! Grin)

Re onions vs shallots, it's definitely shallots that are lower than onions. Onions are 7.9g carbs per 100g whereas shallots are 3.3g.

DearZoom · 19/01/2022 16:11

Thanks @BIWI I was obviously looking at a duff website!

Sorry! I did have breakfast- I must have got distracted after writing down the coffee and forgot to add it Blush I had a slice of the spinach and mushroom frittata I’ve been having all week.
I do have a habit of skipping breakfast though so it’s good to experience the wrath of your big stick now to put me off breaking the rules proper. Grin

TakeItCheesy · 19/01/2022 16:53

@AllTheBlackCoffee That menu looks great, had definitely failed to realise that pigs in blankets were lc Shock

Like @ilovecherries, I'm currently experiencing the "full but unsatisfied" sensation today. Craving something with crunch, and can't really think of anything that's going to tick the box, so just trying to keep myself distracted

B: coffee, spinach & goats cheese egg muffin
L: meatballs, Greek salad, aubergine veg mix
D: Burrata, avocado & lambs lettuce, leftover Greek salad

AllTheBlackCoffee · 19/01/2022 17:06

Just be careful @TakeItCheesy (love your username BTW) as depending on the sausages some can be really carby. If I can't get any premade ones that look ok, I make my own. They are a firm favourite in my house all year round #pigsarenotjustforchristmas Grin

Hopeislost · 19/01/2022 17:21

Just started today and have added myself to the spreadsheet. Meals for today:

B - black coffee (long time IF-er)
L - scrambled eggs with avocado
D - chicken curry with cauliflower rice and homemade raita

@byebyecarbs Another one here that fell off the wagon. My first bootcamp was May 2020 and I lost about 2 stone on this woe. I went completely off the rails in 2021 due to a cancer diagnosis, an operation, and catching Covid. I've only kept off half a stone. But I know that this woe works for me so looking forward to getting back into it!

@ilovecherries So sorry to hear about your Dad Thanks

@StuntNun I like harissa Mayo but it's hard to find/expensive so I just mix my own with harissa paste and bootcamp-friendly Mayo.

@NigellaAwesome Great news on the Buttermint! It's great for fending off my sweet tooth in the evenings!
