Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

Did I read somewhere some figure re how much carb is acceptable per 100g?

ToddlingForwards · 19/01/2022 17:50

“full but unsatisfied” yes I recognise that!

Crunchy stuff I like (@TakeItCheesy):

  • mini gherkins/cornichons (also very strong tasting so just one or two really hit the spot).
  • mini cucumbers
  • peppers
  • microwaved chorizo (new to my list today!)
  • overcooked streaky bacon, left to cool slightly on kitchen paper

However I am currently full and satisfied, after dinner of cheeseburger pie. Always hits the spot! (And FLGV on the side).

Random789 · 19/01/2022 18:10

Amazing cheeseburger pie upthread! Must try that.

Flowers to the covid sufferers. Hope you get over it soon.

Thanks, biwi, for the ht water and lemon reccomendation. I will try it. Also, I bought pukka original chai today (cinnamon, Cardomom and ginger) and it is quite nice. (No nuitritional breakdown but surely it can't be carby?? - tho it does have a tiny bit of licorice root.)

Turns out i misremembered the alleged original selling price of my Calvin Klein Bootcamp Target Jeans from TKMaxx. It was £140 not £114!! Reduced to £13, Probably not worth a penny over £29.99.

RagzRebooted · 19/01/2022 18:22

Chorizo slices do well in an airfryer too, if anyone has one of those. I like a few on top of a salad, with some goats cheese.

Breakfast - none, just black coffee (ran out of cream). Please don't whack me with the stick @BIWI, I've done this and IF enough that this is my normal breakfast unless I've been having too many carbs.
Lunch - photo attached - seriously low carb McDonald's! Triple cheeseburger (£2.29) with extra cheese (x2, 20p each, didn't need 2 extra it came with loads!) and extra bacon (x2, 50p each), extra lettuce and extra gherkins. Those SLC rolls are way more filling than a McDonald's one!
Snack - SLC hot cross bun. Not bootcamp friendly really as it has fruit in, but kids were having normal ones and the smell was too much!
Dinner - Sprouts chopped up and stir fried in butter with chorizo, and then goats cheese stirred in.

Welcome to 2022's first Low Carb Bootcamp!
FinallyHere · 19/01/2022 18:30

This is genius, thank you @RagzRebooted

StuntNun · 19/01/2022 18:32

Zonder aim for below 5g carbs per 100g and preferably below 3g if possible.

AThroneOfLies · 19/01/2022 18:51

@3luckystars I was a 2 sugar in my tea kind of gal last year.
This week I finally got down to 0!
I switched over to sweetener at first (which is not really BC friendly) and then just kept on slowly reducing.

ShangPie · 19/01/2022 19:11

For the cheeseburger pie, what are the tomato ketchup options? Are there any LCHF appropriate red sauce brands? Or am I risking the Big Stick - is it forbidden to even mention?!

Asking for a friend Grin

I guess some smushed up fried cherry tomatoes could work?

Pisseslikeahorse · 19/01/2022 19:16

Hello all, finally weighed myself and.....oh shit! i've got a lot to loose again.
been really ratty for the last few days (I'm 4 days in) with everyone I encounter but hey its all par for the course.
Im trying my best to keep up with the thread, your all very inspiring, trying to get my head in the right space to do this. Im going to print off the carb counts, a couple of recipes, the rules and put them on the cupboard door

Food:
B 2 bacon 2 eggs mayo chilli
L Soup and celery
D cauliflower cabbage with leeks in butter and chilli
Been eating a few bits of cheeses with butter on top

FrenchBoule · 19/01/2022 19:38

Hello 🙂

Boring foodwise, family had breaded meat and veg, i chucked mine “naked” pork tenderloin dusted in salt and ground coriander on the frying pan.
Steamed Green french beans with a dollop on butter for companion and here we go.

Had a strong urge to eat something after the dinner so demolished half of Port Salut cheese.

Baking for people today, gives me a sense of accomplishment but I’m not tempted.

Discovered that ditching my lovely sourdough and fruit makes me a sociable person again as I’m not a gas bag farting all the time. Now I’m wondering who’s the culprit responsible for my bloating 🤔

High five to fellow cabbage growers, chicken keepers and sausage makers 🙂

Willlow · 19/01/2022 19:38

I know the "full but not satisfied feeling" too. I think its the habit of a sweet "full stop" to end a meal. I'm hoping as we get more fat adapted that will pass.

I've just eaten the most delicious dinner, keto pesto chicken casserole with feta cheese and olives from the diet doctor website. Absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend.

Willlow · 19/01/2022 19:41

@FrenchBoule I know you said upthread you would need to change your name but I think of you more in a pétanque way than a doughy way!

StuntNun · 19/01/2022 19:45

Food for the day:
B: none as I'm an old hand at intermittent fasting.
L: Sainsburys frozen lamb burgers and salad. I like these burgers as nothing comes out of them so they don't shrink when cooking, unlike beef burgers where you lose all the fat.
D: spicy harissa sprouts and broccoli with halloumi as recommended by someone, can't remember who, upthread. They were even nicer than shoogled sprouts. I'm not sure how many people that recipe was supposed to feed but I ate most of it! Blush

LostaraYil · 19/01/2022 19:56

Really tired today, but I'm not sure if it's carb flu or a cold. Making a cup of oxo cube drink, much to DP's disgust.
B: none, long term IFer
L: salad with cheese and mayo
Snack: leftover roast beef
D: shoogled sprouts and other random veg with bolognese sauce.
Thanks for all the cheeseburger pie reminders, I love it but it's not on regular rotation unless I'm low carbing so I forget!

Davina69 · 19/01/2022 19:59

Evening everyone, today is the first day I haven't felt a bit overwhelmed trying to decide what to eat. I've discovered as an avid breakfast avoider that a mini baby bel and a few veg sticks can be munched on the school run. I have also purchased a pint glass for my water and a bag of frozen lime slices which has helped with my water consumption !

B - baby bel and celery sticks
L - homemade veg soup
D - cottage pie with celeriac instead of mash

ShagMeRiggins · 19/01/2022 20:02

@BIWI

By the way, talking about the spreadsheet, if you haven't already then have a good read of the stuff that's on the tabs at the bottom. Especially the resources. There's loads of interesting stuff there.

There's also what we termed 'ubercamp' which is 3 days of carb-counted, low carb meals. One plan is meat-based and one is fish-based (I never got round to doing one for vegetarians, so I should work on that!). They also have shopping lists to go with them.

Honestly, when are you going to write your book?

I can help; I type 90wpm on a proper keyboard—typing for others helped me find university, $1 per typewritten page—actually that was my heyday. Probably 75wpm now. Still…

The offer is there if I’m mentioned in it somewhere. Grin

ilovecherries · 19/01/2022 20:03

Well, I went for a walk rather than a nap and I intend having another early night as feeling a bit fragile and pathetic. My ‘top’ tummy is definitely a bit flatter though so that’s good. I’ve still to eat some dinner but really not feeling it. I may just have some yoghurt. I think I felt pretty horrible day 4/5 last time as well, so expect I’ll perk up soon. Night all!

Runninghorse · 19/01/2022 20:07

I think I am still eating too much looking at other peoples meals.

B fried egg
L salmon and salad
D 2 sausages and broccoli

Also celery and cucumber and cheese

Benvolio · 19/01/2022 20:16

I'm really enjoying the confidence that Reading the thread is giving me, saying that I can do this. I'm a keen home cook, so I'm loving the opportunities to be creative planning lchf food. I'm only on day 3, but so far no suffering.

I know we don't need to count anything, but in the past I have given up because I can't trust myself that I'm getting it right, so this time I am using an app, keto.app I think it's called, just to start with to convince myself I'm staying on track.

Miraculously, today I have only eaten about 1500 kcal all in for 20g carbs. Am stuffed to point of queasiness.

I was at work, where I'm offered a baguette (sob, but actually not sob) or a random box of salad for lunch. Today was a perfect keto salad, and I'd bought back-up eggs from home, so I nipped over the road to garage to get some mayo (now in desk drawer!) and also found double cream for the work fridge and some only slightly filthy pork scratchings.

11ses: coffee with dash ssk milk. (Cream or black from now on tho). I never eat breakfast.

L: 2 small hard boiled eggs, rocket, cherry toms, bit of feta, capers, mayo, and 45g pack of Mr porky scratchings.

D: leftover bits of duck in big bowl of duck stock with 200g pak choi and a big spoon of tom yum paste, to make easy delicious soup.

Tom yum paste and Mr porky not ideal as so processed, but hey ho.

@NigellaAwsome, your massive haul of buttermint tea made me laugh. I was thinking my 2 boxes in my online shopping might be overdoing it!

BetterthanIthink · 19/01/2022 20:24

Loved tonight’s dinner . Simple grilled lamb chops with buttered cabbage and a little bit of leftover cauliflower mash.
Delicious Smile

CeleriacOfTheNight · 19/01/2022 20:24

Evening all

B. Two black coffees (IFer!)
L. Broccoli and Stilton soup
S. Chunks of cheddar, slices of ham
D. Low carb no-bean chilli with salad, sour cream and grated cheese

@Runninghorse yours doesn't sound like a lot of food at all really, are you too used to eating low calorie perhaps?

Livelongandprosper · 19/01/2022 20:26

I have felt awful today, tired and not wanting to eat much. I remember this happened about 3 days in last time so I've stuck with it and I expect to feel a lot better tomorrow.

FrenchBoule · 19/01/2022 20:34

@Willlow I am doughy. I look like a round boule with 2 baps at the front and 2 at the back. I also have layers of fat, think like laminated dough (croissant).

Not really sure who mentioned duck, @Benvolio?

It’s usually a masterpiece of our Christams dinner.
Gressingham ducks were only sold at Asda in my neck of woods.Very underrated meat. It’s delicious hot or cold, makes fantastic stock and gives plenty of fat for frying.

I think I’ll go and demolish the rest of Port Salut.

Runninghorse · 19/01/2022 20:37

No - definitely not used to low calorie but glad to hear you don't think I am overeating.
