Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

Wow @ToddlingForwards that’s some cabbage!

Congrats @NigellaAwesome on your weight loss, well done!

Meal logging?

B 2 fried eggs with small avocado
L cauliflower soup on yesterday roast chicken carcass
D egg, avocado and chicken “salad” with a dollop of mayo

Started to drink some peppermint tea.

Keep your meal ideas coming please! Need to buy some sprouts although might eat them when off work 😷

DollyDingleberry · 18/01/2022 05:58
@DollyDingleberry - many congratulations on your baby ( I guess soon to be toddler ) 😀
He’s certainly thinking about toddling! He’s walking/ running while holding your hands but not yet pulling himself up on furniture. He can walk while holding onto a push along trust though and he’s quite zoomy with that now. He’ll be 10 months on the 22nd. He’s currently sat watching duggee while I figure out what to have for meals today.

I’m thinking:

B: FF yoghurt and cream, cream coffee
L: chicken kebab salad
D: roast chicken, buttery veggies

I’ve bought myself an enormous 4 litre water bottle. I need to get to 6 litres per day but I’m having to work up to that, it’s just not possible yet so I’m starting with 4 for now and then having hot drinks on top.

My mum came over yesterday. She’s very anti-LCHF but has never had a weight problem in her life so thinks to lose weight you just eat salad and jacket potatoes for a couple of months. MIL also thinks slimming world is the answer despite being a member for 20 years and never sustainably losing anything. I need to shut out the noise and just crack on!

ouchmyfeet · 18/01/2022 06:29

I find the water quite overwhelming too, I need to do 4 litres. I just try my best and don't stress if I don't manage the full amount every day. I don't allow myself many caffeinated drinks (2 coffees max) so I count all my hot drinks too which normally gets me there but I really have to focus on it to get to the 4 litres. If I forget to make myself drink it there's no way I'll accidentally consume 4 litres through thirst!

Jollyjuly · 18/01/2022 06:35

Can I add my name too please?

Rshard · 18/01/2022 07:07

My mil is just the same dollydingleberry, she’s back at WW having first started when her ds (my dh) was 6 months old - he’s now 48.

Woke up for a wee 3 times in the night, got back to sleep each time and had a good night. Am often a poor sleeper but it improves on this woe and when I’m lighter!

Day 2!

DollyDingleberry · 18/01/2022 07:16

@Rshard

Woke up for a wee 3 times in the night, got back to sleep each time and had a good night. Am often a poor sleeper but it improves on this woe and when I’m lighter!

Day 2!

It’s particularly galling from MIL given that she started the new year doing Cambridge Hmm

Last time I LCHF’d I lost 5st in 8 months and then it was ‘you’ve lost it too fast, you look gaunt, you can stop losing now you’re getting too thin’ - I was still 15st at 5ft 5 so still obese Hmm now I realise that was all about the fact she was struggling at the time and wasn’t losing as quickly.

She rang me last night to ‘express concern’ that my 9 month old was going to suffer from me eating this way because he eats what we eat. I’ve told her he’s having double cream on his weetabix this morning and for lunch it’s just lard cut into baby friendly batons Grin.

In reality, DH and DS have similar things to me except they add carbs to theirs and I add fat to mine. So tonight’s chicken dinner, I’ll have the skin and loads of butter on my veggies, they’ll have roast potatoes. It’s actually really easy to adapt normal meals to LCHF.

StuntNun · 18/01/2022 07:28

That's great news @NigellaAwesome I love buttermint tea.

That's a lot of water @DollyDingleberry I'm not sure 6 litres is achievable. I would be worried about messing up my electrolyte balance with that much water.

DollyDingleberry · 18/01/2022 07:32

That’s what it says I need on the spreadsheet due to my weight, should I stick to 4?
Jollyholibobs · 18/01/2022 07:32

Impressed by your cabbage @ToddlingForwards. It’s a beaut!

Today
B black coffee (long time 16:8 here)
L spinach salad, cheese, guacamole. Greek yoghurt.
D cauliflower curry.
And all the water….

I am prepping for a weekend ski trip now France has opened up. Feeling overwhelmed by all the paperwork. Need to get out my ski trousers and try them on. I am 2 stone heavier than this time last year. Rubbish year. 2 stone in 12 months. 7 lbs up since the end of last bootcamp. I know what to do. I’ve done it before. A photo of me taken on NYE is so awful I had it up on a shelf in the kitchen as a motivator but it was really getting me down so I’ve taken it down. I’ve bought some bigger supermarket jeans to see me through until I get back to fitting in my lovely clothes. Won’t be able to get supermarket ski trousers. Hope it’s not necessary.

Glenthebattleostrich · 18/01/2022 07:39

Morning all!

1.6 lb down this morning (I'm a daily weigher). Only 2lb to go to lose the Christmas weight gain so hopefully that will go this week. And all while eating pork scratchings. Life is good!

Twinings and Tetley's do cold infusion teabags for water bottles. They have some lovely flavours. I also like to make mint tea and pop that in the fridge, it is incredibly refreshing. Aldi sometimes do a delicious licorice and mint tea which is absolutely delicious and kills sweet cravings.

Today is the hell of softplay. Wish me luck with that.

Menu plan -

b - scrambled eggs with tomatoes
l - prawn salad with olive oil dressing
d - roast chicken and veg with butter.

ALL the water!

mirpuppet · 18/01/2022 07:43

I'm joining as well. I started 2 weeks ago after Christmas and it is going well.

MotherBuckets · 18/01/2022 07:46

I've caught up at last! Good to see so many keen bootcampers Smile

I fell off the wagon big time over Christmas, put back almost all the weight I lost in the last bootcamp. Back in the zone today though (well since yesterday). We are going to Ibiza in August and while I am a firm believer that any body is a beach-ready body, I would like mine to be a LOT less wobbly Grin

3luckystars · 18/01/2022 07:53

Roughly how long does it take for your body to start working differently? Is that during the first two weeks?

I slept really really well last night but am also very thirsty. Thanks for all the tips about the sodium.

DearZoom · 18/01/2022 07:58

Morning.
I had a good day yesterday, although after being so smug with my packed breakfast, lunch and snacks in my post on here it turned out I’d left the breakfast and emergency snacks in my kitchen Grin
Oh well. I made it through ok. A few Times I caught myself about to mindlessly pick up something carby at work. I’m hoping I’ll be out of the habit fairly soon though.

B precooked omelette thing
L left over buttered spinach and mushrooms with lardons.
D lamb and cauliflower cheese
(Or maybe sea bass and green veg.)

Are all herbal teas ok or are some better than others? I want to swap my morning tea but obviously don’t want to accidentally make a bad choice!

ToddlingForwards · 18/01/2022 08:18

Thank you for all the cabbage love!

I absolutely understand those saying about other people sabotaging weight loss. Our culture around weight, food and dieting is just such a mess. I’ve experienced that criticism of loosing weight before now, often from the same people who will say I need to lose it in the first place!

Toddler was awake 02.00-04.30, I am shattered! My win is that I did not have a snack while up with him, which I would have last week. Now I just have to be a highly competent human until I have a child and responsibility-free slot at 12, when I fully plan on a nap…

Creamy coffee (needed!) and cheesy scrambled eggs for breakfast. Going to pick up frozen spinach today so I can add some green veg at breakfast.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 18/01/2022 08:55

@ToddlingForwards your cabbage is MAGNIFICENT 🥬

Can't remember who asked about long-term weight in this plan, but I'm someone who hasn't put it back on.

I've lost seventeen pounds, and maintained that, without much effort.

I'm still overweight, but in the obese category when I started out.

The key for me has been to identify the carb6 things I really miss, and find a satisfying substitute. So, personally, I no longer miss pasta/ potatoes/ bread etc, but I was still craving fruit buns.

I'm lucky enough to have a bread maker, so I buy low-carb flour, (which is pricey), & make a fruit loaf at the weekends. For me, that's what it took.

WitchWand · 18/01/2022 09:05

Glad to have helped @ThePrionOne and @byebyecarbs. Wishing you well on your journeys down ...Smile

WitchWand · 18/01/2022 09:12

MrsTerryPratchett, thanks for the reminder about NSV. At times the scales can be quite irritating ! It can sometimes seem odd that they're not moving downwards even though we've been following the plan. So, NSV are a big help then.

StuntNun · 18/01/2022 09:13

Glenthebattleostrich I've found normal herbal teabags work in cold water, they just take longer to infuse. In hot weather I put a Raspberry Lemonade teabag in a 2 litre bottle of fizzy water in the fridge and drink that through the day. Lovely, carb free and cheaper than infusion teabags or the carb free flavoured waters you can buy.

3luckystars it takes one to two weeks to switch over to fat burning but the full process can take up to three months, i.e. to be able to exercise as well as before and also for hormones to settle down. It's common to see hormonal issues such as mid-cycle bleeding, breakthrough bleeding if on contraception, or a return of periods post-menopause when you first start losing weight.

DearZoom the herbal tea box will say if it has any carbs in it. Some fruity ones might.

PlantBasedPlatypus · 18/01/2022 09:14

I don’t know if I will weigh daily throughout but I weighed this morning and I’m down…

1.9 KGs.

Which feels a bit too much for twenty four hours.

Food today is

Tofu scramble
Vegan stuffed courgette
Miso FLGV
and for snacks there’s celery and vegan cream cheese

Plus lots of oil

BIWI · 18/01/2022 09:15

@APerfectlyGoodName

Why no breakfast? We don't advocate coffee only (or bulletproof coffee) as a meal substitute, as there is so little nutrition in it. (If you're a long term IFer or LCer, then ignore me!)

OP posts:
BIWI · 18/01/2022 09:17

@BSky

Checking in…. B: x2 eggs & bacon (more like lunch) S: cheese & ham, couple small slices leftover roast beef. D: cauli cheese & x2 roast chicken thighs. Drinks: x2 teas, coffee with cream, herbal tea. No where near enough water.

I have lost almost two stone on lchf before. It creeps back when I relax the rules for too long. One too many slips with sugar & it can be a slippery slope. So back to it…

Good luck folks to day 2

@BSky

Where are the vegetables or salad in your menu?!

Rule 4 - your carbs should mostly be coming from veg and salad. All you've eaten here is pretty much protein and fat. You really do need to add in the veg/salad to ensure you're getting appropriate nutrition.

OP posts:
StuntNun · 18/01/2022 09:21

ToddlingForwards the other issue I have with diet culture is unrealistic expectations. Some people fully expect to drop a stone a month. Unfortunately it takes time and there will be frustrations and plateaus along the way.

BIWI · 18/01/2022 09:22

@DollyDingleberry if you're drinking 4 litres plus hot drinks, I wouldn't worry about trying to get more water in. And as StuntNun has warned, make sure you don't become electrolyte-depleted - especially sodium.

Welcome @Jollyjuly - just add your name to the spreadsheet (on the bottom of the list)

@3luckystars the first two weeks should see a swift transition - if you follow the rules! But everyone is different. You'll know you're there when you realise you're no longer ravenously hungry between meals. You may even forget to eat at mealtimes. (I know. I didn't believe that either, till it happened to me Grin)

@DearZoom can't help about the herbal/fruit teas as it's not something I like, but I'm fairly sure they're carb-free - just check on the label (or go to the website of the supermarket you're using and check the nutritional information there)

Sending solidarity for your middle of the night loving toddler, I have a 9 month old who likes to laugh at my face at 2:20am every. single. night. He shouts and gets gradually more upset the longer you leave him. Then you go in, he full on belly laughs and gets super excited for about 30 seconds, turns over and goes back to sleep. Starting to think i birthed the next subject of a netflix serial killer docuseries.

He's up and down a fair bit of the night but 2:20am is always party time Hmm
