2021 Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 17/10/2021 21:46

Welcome to the last Bootcamp of 2021!

This Bootcamp will last for 8 weeks, which will take us up to Monday 13 December.

It's slightly different from other Bootcamps - firstly because it only lasts for 8 weeks (rather than 10), but also because there are going to be different stages.

So ...

Weeks 1 and 2 will be, as ever, strict Bootcamp.

Weeks 3-6 will be strict Bootcamp during the week, but relaxing into Bootcamp Light at weekends

In weeks 7-8 you will have a choice - either back to strict Bootcamp or full-on Bootcamp Light for the last fortnight

Haven't signed up on the spreadsheet yet, but am determined to do this properly this time. I often lurk on these threads, but have not been in my own home for 3 months and can't see that changing before Xmas. It is really difficult to eat low carb in someone else's house, but I will do my best.
Thanks to everyone who works so hard to make this a success!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 18/10/2021 21:10

@Witsend101 I have the Renpho scales too - only 2 downsides:

They tell me I'm 6 lb heavier than my other scales Hmm

and

They go through a set of AAA batteries about every 3-4 months...

ListenLinda · 18/10/2021 21:13

Evening everyone, hope everyone has had lovely LC evening.
Tea was pork chops and sprouts & broccoli. Added butter to my veg, veg a bit undercooked. Had two babybels after, i know know! I felt peckish. Hopefully that drops off the next few days. I need to get more organised in an evening, it’s so hard at the moment though, DH works nights now and the evenings are hectic.
Reached my water target, which I am pretty proud of! Smile

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2021 21:17

FungalLurkins excellent first post.

There is no such thing as Bootcamp royalty, ha ha ha! Grin

Oh, and WATER WATER WATER!

chichichibaby · 18/10/2021 21:19

Hi everyone I've added myself to the spreadsheet, good first day not enough water but grateful for this group!

0DAAT · 18/10/2021 21:23

Right finally caught up!
I'm going on holidays on Wednesday, returning Friday week, to Portugal. So I might not have the best start to BC but I didn't want to not try.
I've a brand new name for this BC chosen to remind me to keep going. One Day At A Time! It's an AA tip for quitting alcohol but applies to changing any habit. I was Summery1.

Your bathroom is lovely Prettybird. I love a bath, but like others, it seems to provoke a need to poo in my children. My lovely scented products have their work cut out.

Shag, I converted my weight of 165.8lbs to stones and kg to give myself targets. I'm 5ft 8, and 54yrs. I want to get to 160 (11-6), then 154(11st)/70kg. So 12lbs over the 8wks.
Another poster had similar numbers, so hi!

I'm off to measure myself, as instructed, and then early to bed.

Oh yes. I love to post my food.
B. Broccoli and blue cheese omelette, creamy coffee.
L. Pork chop, Brussels sprouts & turnip.
D. Chicken and coleslaw.
S. Greek yogurt.

I always struggle with the water, so I'll measure the bottle I'm using. I'm using one zero tab per day as I do get the carb flu thing and can feel pretty wretched.
Best wishes all.

Tip for following thread in the app - you can swipe right and bookmark a thread to jump to that post next time you open it. Took me ages to learn that!

A d if you hit reply you can tag and reply to people then swipe down the reply box to get back to reading main thread.

@venusandmars that's exactly how I feel after indulging in carbs. I'm hoping that eventually it will be enough to put me off completely but it's still work in progress!

@putthehamsterbackinitscage I'm away with work now! Running late so threw 3 boiled eggs and half avocado into a Tupperware with pot of Mayo. Grabbed basic salad box from co-op. Made a salad on the train.

Then picked up 2 Pret Salads (tuna Nicoise and chicken club) and now just past a Tesco express and have nuts (I'm BC light these are NOt allowed in first 2 weeks), egg pot, squirty Mayo, rollitos and a cheese coleslaw. The coleslaw is a bit carby but I am allowing it as a back up if needed. I've got so many options now I feel safe!

Eating out I usually look for steak and salad or naked burger and salad as fairly ubiquitous options.

Oh and for your scales - we've nearly finished a switch to rechargeable batteries in everything! Invest in a few every couple of months.

@prettybird I love that you play rugby!! Everyone apart from me in my family does - I'm always very good in my dreams I hope that counts Grin. DD7 hasn't really mentioned that she's the only girl in her age group I really hope they get more soon before she starts to notice.

Food today was egg and avo salad, then a naked souvlaki with extra halloumi.

Also found these bad boys - again not normally allowed in strict BC so something for later as made with almond flour and erithritol sweetener but it was gooood!

colouringindoors · 18/10/2021 22:05

Food today:
Morning - coffee with double cream
Lunch: Omlette with spinach and a few cherry tomatoes cooked in lots of butter.
Dinner: Chicken marinated in garlic, chilli, oil. Big pile broccoli with big chunk of butter.

Def had 2 litres of water.

prettybird · 18/10/2021 22:23

@FusionChefGeoff - I only started playing in February 2020 but Covid delayed my first game Grin

Having watched ds play from the age of 5 (and having enjoyed internationals at Murrayfield for a lot lot longer Wink), and dh running the junior section (with me doing registration) as well as coaching and refereeing, I thought I'd give it a go - as much for the social side as the fitness. Kept it from ds (as I knew what his reaction would be "Mum, no, just, no" Hmm) so he only found out when the team sheet for the 2nds was posted on FB Grin ("WTF are you doing" in an outraged WhatsApp message Grin) As I replied to ds, when he said "But you're 60", "So? I'm not the slowest Grin" (in the Broncos, which are a horrible running fitness test we do periodically).

This WoE helps by ensuing my body is fuelling me well Smile

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2021 22:34

Nice to see you, 0DAAT. So glad I’m not the only one who does the “any weight unit for a milestone will do” way of measuring. Wink

Jollyholibobs · 18/10/2021 22:35

Wow @prettybird respect!!

TrueGrit54 · 18/10/2021 23:48

prettybird another one with respect! Seriously impressed, I am 54 and ashamed how feeble my body is, my mum is 85 and in better shape.

14 mins left for me to reach my 2.5l target, almost there. I really needed to start drinking water earlier in the day. Doh!

venusandmars · 19/10/2021 02:31

@TrueGrit54 me too. Was out for a big chunk of the day (outdoor event, not much in the way of toilets) and ended up drinking most of my water during the evening. Now I've just been up for my second pee of the night. And I'm feeling wide awake. And hungry.

ditavonteesed · 19/10/2021 03:50

Wow @prettybird I'm very impressed. My friend has just started wild swimming and I quite fancy that. Another friend has started power lifting and now lifts more than I weighed pre boot camps. I always think it's great to do what you really want to. Especially if it's good for you as well.

Just had my egg Mayo and marmite cheese was lovely.

Glenthebattleostrich · 19/10/2021 07:04

Morning campers!

Hope everyone is well today.

Loving seeing all the food ideas, definitely making some cheeseburger pie this week.

Todays menu is

breakfast - crustless quiche with mushrooms and spinach.
lunch - Tuna salad
Dinner - lamb koftas, halloumi, lamb and paprika stew, garlic mushrooms with salad.
Snacks - tea with double cream, pork scratchings (didn't have yesterday) and chai tea with cream and coconut oil.

Already had first glass of water, brewing a tea with cream now.

Have a great day everyone

Dellabob123 · 19/10/2021 07:41

Wow @prettybird - that is wonderful. Verynn no inspiring!

Haven’t got round to making the cheeseburger pie yet but I can definitely recommend the chicken Alfredo of the recipe section - delicious.

@Glenthebattleostrich - how is tea with cream? I have one cup of Ceylon in the morning before my coffee and cream and I just can’t imagine it?

Today will be
B eggs and bacon with Avocado
L tuna Mayo salad again
D leftover Ragu with courgetti

Enjoy your days everyone

QueenDanu · 19/10/2021 08:10

I lugged 4 litres of sparkling water and 2 litres of almond milk in to work today. Good job i went to bed early last night. I need a lie down now!

I know water doesnt have to be sparkling but i find it helps me deal with no coke zero a bit more easily. Sparkling water is not cole zero but it helps.

MotherBuckets · 19/10/2021 08:12

@FungalLurkins I'm a serial lurker too - I lurked on the antenatal thread for my DS for a whole year! That was so weird when I finally braved it to say hello, these women were my friends and I knew so much about them but I was a stranger... luckily they let me in and some of them are among my besties now 13 years later Grin

I do get overwhelmed by the amount of posting, especially at the beginning but have proved to myself I can't do it without the support / incentive of a thread so going to really try this time. Have at least 50lb to lose overall but my initial target is 20lb off.

Better go and get a glass of water Grin

Rshard · 19/10/2021 08:16

Morning campers, ready for day 2 on a very miserable, grey morning.

I really like sparkling water too queendanu, a taste acquired on this woe. I reckon you’ve done your weight training for today lugging all that to work!

QueenDanu · 19/10/2021 08:16

Same here, im here, im reading, im taking inspiration but i name change frequently. I am not on the list. I name change once a week. Was outed once.

So you happen to watch Ted Lasso (AppleTV), Rshard?

He has very firm views on sparkling water. Grin

Glenthebattleostrich · 19/10/2021 08:55

@Dellabob123 the tea was delicious, really satisfying. Looking forward to my chia tea now.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/10/2021 08:56

*Do you, not So you...

I was not surmising. Too early for my Poirot skills.

Pleaseandthankyou · 19/10/2021 09:06

@prettybird you are an inspiration. I love watching rugby but my whole family laugh at the thought of me tackling anyone or diving in the mud to score a try. I am almost the same age as you and have taken up another ball sport that mumsnet seems to hate. The ball is smaller and it involves a lot of walking and talking to your partners 😂 . I got to a normal bmi on bootcamp last year. I have managed to maintain my weight but now would like to drop another few pounds. Joining you all for inspiration.
