2021 Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 17/10/2021 21:46

Welcome to the last Bootcamp of 2021!

This Bootcamp will last for 8 weeks, which will take us up to Monday 13 December.

It's slightly different from other Bootcamps - firstly because it only lasts for 8 weeks (rather than 10), but also because there are going to be different stages.

So ...

Weeks 1 and 2 will be, as ever, strict Bootcamp.

Weeks 3-6 will be strict Bootcamp during the week, but relaxing into Bootcamp Light at weekends

In weeks 7-8 you will have a choice - either back to strict Bootcamp or full-on Bootcamp Light for the last fortnight

Wow this thread moved fast, took me ages to read all the posts Grin but lovely to see so many onboard.
I haven’t weighed yet as forgot this morning but will update tomorrow, I lost 8 lbs on the last mini bootcamp but still have at least a stone and a half to lose.
@nowlook that eating out guide is fab!
I’m off to Las Iguanas this week, will need to see what I can eat from the menu

BIWI · 18/10/2021 18:06

A fair few who have signed up haven't entered anything on the spreadsheet - just a call to arms!

Busy day today! Just finishing off a lovely bowl of homemade ragu with some cauli rice, a dollop of mascapone and some grated creamy Lancashire cheese. Need to get another L of water of the course of the evening. As I have been doing IF for a few months now I have cut out my evening brew and biscuit habit. Quite like a mug of hot water though, much to my husband's amusement.

MercedesBenz · 18/10/2021 18:16

Thank you @BIWI and @ouchmyfeet
Currently 194 pound or 13 stone 12
Loving the idea of a leather jacket once at goal @colouringindoors that’s a great motivator

Kerplunkk · 18/10/2021 18:16

@BIWI I have just posted my original start date and weight, haven’t weighed for this BC yet as forgot this morning

VividImaginationAgain · 18/10/2021 18:20

@BIWI thank you.

VividImaginationAgain · 18/10/2021 18:24

@BIWI I posted on the spread sheet earlier. I can see it on mine but if I’ve got it wrong let me know and I will try again.

Sorry @Kerplunkk - I meant to delete you off that list as I saw your recent post!

KateF · 18/10/2021 18:31

Ah, found you!
I'm starting at 23lb lighter than when I began to follow the threads in June so I'm converted to this WOE for life. I still have a lot to lose so a two week reset will be good. I've not gone too far off strict bootcamp but have had occasional nuts (almond and Brazil), raspberries with my yogurt and very dark chocolate. I don't drink so that's one temptation I don't have to battle! However, I am on an antidepressant called mirtazapine which is a bugger for weight gain.

Today's food
B scrambled eggs and bacon
L green veg soup with some cream stirred in, lettuce leaves with pate
D have roast veg and halloumi in the oven

Need to be more conscientious about my water intake. My water bottle holds 900mls so I aim for 3 a day.

BIWI · 18/10/2021 18:38

@KateF are you sure that 3 x 900mls is going to be enough? I don't know how much you weigh, as you're not on the spreadsheet - but as you say you still have a lot to lose, I wondered if you should be drinking more? Check the spreadsheet, for rule 6 which shows how much you need to drink according to your weight.

OP posts:
KateF · 18/10/2021 18:46

I should be drinking more but I don't have ready access to the loo at work so I have to balance what I can realistically manage as I never know when my lunch break will be (anywhere between 11 and 2) and I have no other breaks in a 9 hour day!

FungalLurkins · 18/10/2021 19:45

Hello everybodySmile Goodness, writing this feels extremely bloody weird to me as I am a long (long) time lurker. You know those very rude posters who BIWI bangs on about who just dump their shit and don't read other peoples' posts? Well, I am the opposite of one of those posters (and almost certainly equally rude but in different ways). I've actually been here for most of my adult life though (am 30ish now) and I feel like I know some of you very well indeed which is just so creepy considering the "getting to know" has all been totally one sided. Imagine if it was real life and I'd just been sitting on a separate table near a friendly regular meet-up eavesdropping, intently and consistently for almost a decade... but hey - that's the internet for you!

Anyhow, I've decided to unlurk for this bootcamp just to see what it's like. I'm not on the spreadsheet as I don't need to lose weight. I properly low carbed for quite a while many years ago (roughly when I found these threads) and since then it has been on and off with many variations experimented with. In recent times I stopped entirely as I developed too much of an environmental conscience and I found grappling with trying to do vegan low carb extremely bloody hard and complicated. I've given up attempting proper veganism now though and am looking for a "still good for the planet but also good for me" compromise. So no dairy yoghurt or milk or red meat and no mass fished fish at all but still occasional free range chicken and high quality eggs and of course, game is fine. I also don't buy avocados and limit almonds and the like. Try to get as much local seasonal veg as possible. I do so hate being a total bore when it comes to these things and don't judge others ever but thought I would mention as it might explain why my choices might be somewhat more limited at points than they need be. If anyone else thinks lots about these things I'd be happy to hear about it.

Ha - sorry, mammoth first ever post there. Popping the cherry with style. I will shut up now.

prettybird · 18/10/2021 19:49

Welcome de-lurking @FungalLurkins Thanks

You won't be able to stop posting now Grin

Witsend101 · 18/10/2021 19:52

Hi, hope I'm ok to join too. Have added myself to the spreadsheet but haven't added weight yet due to scale malfunction. Anyone got any recommendations for a decent set of scales?

H1Drangea · 18/10/2021 19:55

Just place marking as I will not be able to start til Wednesday and need to be able to find this
Will do my best , but in a premier inn at the moment , helping DD move into a shared flat with girlfriends , furnished ( not very well ) £££ bank of mum to the rescue
Home tomorrow and will have a massive shopping list of all the green veg I can think of

BIWI · 18/10/2021 19:59

Thank you for the advice, spinach in the morning omelette sounds good. I made a broccoli chicken cheese thing for supper and had it with salad but looking at the guidelines I'm definitly not drinking enough water

ZiggZagg · 18/10/2021 20:29

Wow the thread has moved so fast! Welcome to all you newbies and delurkers (I don't have the cognitive capacity to remember names - Fibromyalgia for you!)

@Witsend101 I bought Renpho scales which I find really good!

L today was veg soup with 2 SLCRs and loads of butter
D was mixed grill (lamb, chicken and doner) with salad and hot chili sauce

Not drank all the water yet but nearly there!

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2021 20:34

prettybird you’re looking focused and fabulous in that rugby photo. Not bad at all for any age, never mind 60.

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2021 20:39

I found I was having a glass of wine for ritual

What a great word. It’s that, isn’t it? It’s like me taking my bra off at the end of the day. Grin

Nutsaremynemesis · 18/10/2021 20:57

@Kerplunkk I went to Las Iguanas last week (at the NEC, I was away with work at a conference) …. They were experiencing “supply chain issues” and the majority of the food was unavailable 😮 I had tapas (prawns, lamb meatballs and a couple of the boss’s calamari with a side of shredded greens and some rather nasty ore made guacamole). It was nice (apart from the guac) and there were a fair few LCHF friendly things on the menu (had they been available!)

@FungalLurkins You’re not the only one … I too feel like I “know” the bootcamp royalty as I’ve lurked so much (but never post). I’m a very introverted autistic science geek and find interacting and picking up on social cues… shall we say “tricky”?!

Carb creep and peri menopause have meant a stone has slid on so I’ve decided to join in properly rather than just lurk. I’m not sure I have anything interesting or worthwhile to say though so the big brave pants might be discarded rapidly 🤣

prettybird · 18/10/2021 21:00

@ShagMeRiggins Grin - it was sheer concentration as I'd never practiced 2nd row Shock - I'd trained at flanker a couple of times and played there in the previous game. Dh had given me a 90 second lesson in how to set up when I was told I'd be going on in that position for the last 10 minutes. Fortunately, the scrums were uncontested at that stage.

Dh has a better picture of me where he says not only am I well positioned but I'm looking at the right things, that I'm very proud of Wink But he's only sent me that one picture even though I keep reminding him to send me the rest Hmm

The honest truth is I'd rather be a scrum half (like ds is and dh was) or a back but I'm no longer any way near fast enough if I ever was Wink So I'm being realistic Grin

BIWI · 18/10/2021 21:02

@Nutsaremynemesis thank you for delurking too! And I'm sure you have plenty to say that is interesting Smile Flowers

Hello everyone Smile

I think I have fallen off your list again BIWI. I'll put myself on the spreadsheet later, if you don't mind because our first day appears to have started with COVID for me. DD and I are awaiting our pcr tests, done this morning and feeling pretty ropey. Gave managed low carb meals though -scrambled eggs, cream of broccoli soup, roasted vegetables and guacamole.
