Summer Low Carb Mini Bootcamp - week 4

Oneborneverydecade · 23/08/2021 08:15

Morning and welcome to week 4!

I very much hope that things are going well for you, and that you're into the swing of things low carb by now. This week is mostly about keep on keeping on, drinking all the water and remembering that last week's weight loss stall may still be a factor, as your body continues to adjust to this woe.

As ever, post any questions/issue here and let's see if we can help. I'm looking for low carb and or ntermittent fasting podcast recommendations if anyone has any please.

I'll link the spreadsheet in my next comment.

I've posted this before, but the reviews keep coming in Grin

Have a read of these reviews about Haribo sugar-free Gummy Bears

I once ate so much Thorntons Diabetic Toffee that I strained a muscle in my stomach with all the diarrhoea Blush

I am not the poo troll

Kerplunkk · 23/08/2021 12:17

Thank you for all the fat & sugar free sweet suggestions,
What about when it’s the opposite? I’m constipated today but a few days ago I was too scared be too far from the bathroom. Confused

I can’t seem to find a happy medium!

Kerplunkk · 23/08/2021 12:20

I’m also not the poo troll btw Grin

Mimosa1 · 23/08/2021 12:26

Omg BIWI those reviews are hilarious Grin

Down 3.5 lbs for me this week (1st week water weight wish), which I'm thrilled about. I'm starting a new job soon which will be mostly in person and I need to get back into my work wardrobe from almost 1.5 years ago so I'm glad the weight is coming off. It's mad to think I've been WFH for that long. I'm going to have to wear a bra every day ! Confused

ouchmyfeet · 23/08/2021 13:17

No weigh in for me this week until I get the lbs shifting again after a week of seaside indulgence.

Food yesterday:

L - leftover Saturday night takeaway (kebab with Greek salad)
D - cheeseburger pie with massive salad

I also had an almond magnum. BlushBlush

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/08/2021 13:21

I bought some avocado oil today and am going to drizzle it over everything

prettybird · 23/08/2021 13:49

After a 3.78km pace run which was horrible but I did it in my best pace for years I can report that I'm down half a pound to 11st 6lb.

This despite my over-indulgence at the party on Saturday (a whole four large glasses of Prosecco) Shock. BTW: when I said I was wasted yesterday, I meant how I felt yesterday (splitting head ache, a bit dizzy and absolutely knackered) - not how I behaved the night before. As far as I am aware Wink I was still pretty coherent Halo even if dh said my friend and I stank the car out with alcohol fumes Blush

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/08/2021 13:52

Well done prettybird! I wonder if I can get back to running. Another 5lbs and I'll be lighter than I have been for 5 years. That will be 18lbs off which must making running easier surely?! Isn't that 9 bags of sugar or something

FusionChefGeoff · 23/08/2021 13:54

I'm doing the infamous Cheeseburger pie tonight - what goes with it for a) carb eating family and b) me?!

I'm thinking wedges and beans for them!?

A form of ratatouille for me??

prettybird · 23/08/2021 13:59

Last night I had the most wonderful roast shoulder of lamb, done Greek style (chopped garlic and rosemary shoved into slits, lemon juice and olive oil, slow roasted and basted regularly). The fat of the shoulder just melted into the meat Smile. I did the recipe's baby new potatoes cooked in with the roast (fresh from the garden) but didn't have any myself. Served with plenty of buttered rubber beans (also from the garden).

Dessert was strawberries and cream - I was going to make low carb creme brûlée but didn't feel up to any formal "cooking" (bar the lamb) so walked along to the shops to get some fresh air to get the strawberries.

Dh took the picture to promote the wine - but the lamb was brought through to be shown off too, because he'd chosen it as a good wine-food pairing I only had a very small glass Wink

@MrsKoala - just for you Wink: the orchid in situ Smile.

A close up (wee tin is a scented candle dh got me as a stocking filler for Christmas before we'd even thought about the decor for the bathroom) and a wider shot. Exposure is difficult because of the light coming in from the window. Cracked window pane still to be replaced - but suitable glass is in short supply Hmm

I'd do a big green salad with it. I also like to serve it with pickled gherkins, for the full 'cheeseburger' 'effect!

I'm signed up to the Cancer Research 'run 60 miles in September' challenge, so trying to get my arse in gear for running again. I last did the C25K back in May, and it's horrifying how difficult it is to run for that length of time again.

So far, I've managed to run for 10 minutes without stopping, but my pace is really slow Sad.

However, at least I'm getting out and running and/or walking for 2 miles a day, which is a good thing.

(If anyone feels moved to, you can sponsor me on FB)

Mimosa1 · 23/08/2021 16:23

@BIWI I'd be delighted to sponsor you as a thank you for all the wonderful support over various BCs. We're not Facebook friends but if there's a link you'd like to send (I promise I'm quite normal!), I'd be happy to use that - completely understand if you'd rather not though!

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 23/08/2021 16:26

Congrats on all losses this week! Flowers

I'm down to 12 stone 3, which I'm so pleased with. Work has helped as I buy a really delicious salad with egg, mushrooms and chicken tikka in an oily sauce and mayo from a local cafe. It fills me up the whole day until tea time and really helped me lose last time I bootcamped. Keep meaning to try the cheeseburger pie though!!

B - nuts, Greek yoghurt
L - aforementioned delicious salad
D - I'm out later so will be sainsburys chicken pakora (3.7g of carbs per pack and 1min in the microwave) with some leftover green veg cooked in butter from yesterday

BIWI · 23/08/2021 16:37

PM'd you @Mimosa1! Flowers

TidyDancer · 23/08/2021 16:50

2.5lbs off for me this time which I'm pleased with. I'm only 1/4 of a lb away from a stone now so looking forward to hitting that.

pinknsparkly · 23/08/2021 16:54

where can I find the recipe for cheeseburger pie? It sounds amazing and I'm very intrigued!!

Check out the recipe section, which is stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic. It's in the thread of meat recipes.
Dellabob123 · 23/08/2021 18:35

Looking forward to roast duck, celeriac dauphinois and buttered broccoli tonight.

For some reason, my tummy feels all churned up and weird...hope I get to enjoy my dinnerShock

KateF · 23/08/2021 19:07

Weighed in this morning and only 0.2lb lost. So annoying as on Saturday I was 2lb down. My weight seems to fluctuate quite a bit over the week. No idea why as I don't do anything different day to day. Anyway, the trend is downwards so it's fine.

B 2 eggs, one Heck sausage
L roast belly of pork, mayo and green salad, about ten raspberries
D not made it yet but some kind of stir fry

BestIsWest · 23/08/2021 19:58

I don’t weigh but measure and pleased to report another inch off my ample hips (four in total). I can definitely see weight loss now. It is slow but going in the right direction.
It does seem to be coming off weird places - my ankles for example are slimmer but not my waist.

It's quite natural for your weight to fluctuate day by day - as long as the overall trend is downwards, that's all that really matters!
MrsKoala · 23/08/2021 20:20

@BestIsWest my fingers are the first to go. My rings start sliding off. My arse on the other hand, never, ever, leaves. 😡

@prettybird gorgeous flowers. My mum loves orchids and her house is full of them. We used to go to an orchid festival at Kew Gardens when we lived there. Not sure if they still do it. I’d love to go again.
