Week 10 - Low Carb Bootcamp - sadly we're not out yet ...

BIWI · 14/06/2021 08:57

Well, this Bootcamp was designed to finish on what's become known as Freedom Day, next Monday.

Sadly it looks like that isn't to be Sad

However, I hope that the last few weeks have helped you get ready to burst out into the new world! In many ways, the extra four weeks does give us a bit more time! (Don't worry, Bootcamp will still finish with next Monday's weigh-in Wink)

Anyway, as ever, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Looks like it's going to be a glorious day - at least here Darn Sarf. I have nothing planned, and DH is out playing golf, so I shall enjoy the garden to myself, I think.

Hope we all have a good last week Flowers

Morning! Thanks BIWI.

And thanks for kind comments all.

I managed some scrambled eggs last night, but no food bar that Friday - Sunday has given me a huge drop! 5.5!

cheeseisthebest · 14/06/2021 09:37

Well done mrsbb! I'm looking at a 4lb loss now 138lb. Although it has crept up by 1 today but that is due to TOTM. feeling motivated!

BIWI · 14/06/2021 09:38

I'm not sure I'd recommend your weight loss method though, @MrsBertBibby!

How's everything healing up?

StuntNun · 14/06/2021 09:56

I forgot to weigh in this morning despite managing to weigh and measure all four DCs. Oops!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 14/06/2021 09:57

Morning!

Ouch @MrsBertBibby your poor face . Hope it's not too sore.

Lovely that you were able to meet up @venusandmars and @prettybird !

Had a loss this week, (although didn't weigh this morning, as I drank All of the Prosecco yesterday).

Started the day cleaning poo off the dogs paws, the kitchen floor and the decking, so feeling grumpy.

BestIsWest · 14/06/2021 09:58

Morning. No weighing for me. Going to try to do strict boot amp this last week.

prettybird · 14/06/2021 10:14

Saturday was a difficult day for me diet wise. We did a day trip to Wales (leaving at 3am Shock) for my best friend's mum's funeral and although I took a bag full of low carb snacks and filled two water bottles - I left the water bottles on the kitchen counter Sad

The wake was a proper lunch: starter was a choice of melon fruit salad or mushroom quiche I don't eat mushrooms ; main course was a bit better - choice of mushroom risotto or duck leg with a sticky glazed sauce and sticky red cabbage (dh are my potatoes) ; so far so goodish but I succumbed for the dessert and had the lemon brûlée and raspberry ice cream rather than the Welsh cheese Blush (but I did give dh the honeycomb chunks that came with it Wink)

Still, the effort we made going down was appreciated and it was a lovely sunny day. Went back to friend's house after the funeral and enjoyed the sun for a bit in her back garden to maximise numbers allowed Smile

Got home at exactly midnight. "New" car drove like a dream and we finally learnt how to work the SatNav (so that we could find her sister's place beforehand to get changed). Not quite the first "long" run we'd planned for the car though Sad

venusandmars · 14/06/2021 10:18

one pound down, despite several lunches out with friends last week. dh is away for a couple of days which always makes fasting feel more possible. If that goes well I hope to end bc at the same weight as I started.

Food today:
L - green soup
D - chicken ham and leek in cream sauce, green beans

It must be so frustrating for those in England that the great freedom has been dangled tantalisingly in front of you and then moved out of reach, again. Here in Scotland there was never such a hope. It's horrible and difficult for those in certain industries (entertainment, events etc) and it seems incongruous that thousands can watch football in a fanzone (with alcohol, without masks) yet guests at a wedding in a huge airy cathedral have to sit 2m apart with masks on - and no cheering when the couple share their first married kiss! Where are people likely to go 'a bit crazy'? Football I guess Confused

I'm fortunate in that for most of my life and activities the current freedoms are sufficient. Having had both vaccinations dh can help out more with his elderly parents (with some increased confidence that we can balance the risk of their isolation vs their risk from COVID). I can meet friends in restaurants - and I am loving that Grin and after 15 months of disrupted income most of my work is now stable and predictable. And next weekend I'm meeting up with my dsis for a couple of days at a spa hotel, halfway between where we each live. Haven't seen her since last summer.

Rayna37 · 14/06/2021 10:31

2lbs back on for me after a busy week. Had my sister to stay last week, first time I'd seen her since September. Had a pizza while out with her, 100% my poor choice, could have had a salad. Then a weekend away with lots of restaurants including another bloody pizza and wine visiting DSD at university. So nice to be out and about in the sun.

Feeling ok, I'm basically acting as I do in maintenance but a good half a stone heavier than I'd like. Will definitely keep going beyond the end of the bootcamp rather than slip into maintenance here. Lots of visitors over the coming weeks and some weekends away so need to keep weekdays stricter and with regular 16:8.

I LOVE Kale (just picking up on last week's thread) we're growing it again this year. Eat it all year around, better if you can get whole leaf or cavolo nero and chop it yourself. I wash and then sauté in butter with plenty of the water still on it- sort of half steam half sauté.

Doing really well with my no new clothes year challenge after some great charity shop finds in the last week and feeling like I can complete the year, especially after finding a fab dress for an event I was struggling with. Making an effort to wear everything, more jewellery than I'd normally bother with and even tucking things in!

MrsBertBibby · 14/06/2021 10:34

It's a pain all right. We were meant to have a family get together for my parents' diamond wedding, but that is incredibly doubt given we now can't all be indoors. So at the mercy of the weather. Although we can just about manage sleepovers if we split between Dad's house and ours.

Mum won't be there as she is in a home, we are hoping to get her out for a walk, but she won't cope with eating out.

My sister heads back overseas straight after, so we can't postpone.

Anicetraybake · 14/06/2021 11:38

3.6 lbs off this week! Admittedly I’d been plateaued for a few weeks before (had kept hitting lower weights during the week but weigh in day always a crap one). So pleased and going to do a super strict last week to try and consolidate (still can’t quite believe I’ve lost nearly 11lbs overall it’s like a miracle.)

Anicetraybake · 14/06/2021 11:42

@Rayna37 I really hear you on the ‘wearing your wardrobe’ thing, I feel like all my stuff (jewellery etc) is scattered around the house as we are moving in a couple of months and I have so many beautiful clothes, especially trousers and dresses, that have been completely out of the question until I lose weight. Now so many more options are open to me and if I just stick with this WOE through the summer and lost another five pounds or so then I would have a whole new wardrobe to get into without buying a thing! Exciting!

Midlifemission · 14/06/2021 12:39

Well done cheese and mrsbb great losses !

Midlifemission · 14/06/2021 12:47

Ooh sorry that was a wayward post that I started hours ago before work !

Some really great losses

Sorry to hear about the funeral @prettybird but sounded like a lovely day ( and meal yum!)

I am 3lbs down on the holiday gain . I am happy with where I am really just tempted to try to lose a few more so I have the maintenance buffer.
@Rayna37 @Anicetraybake I have been loving 'shopping my wardrobe ' I am
almost ashamed of how many clothes I have ! The only thing is that some of it actually a bit big and I still get easily tempted to buy more as it's so exciting that things fit me ! Clothes shopping is possibly my biggest vice. Could be worse couldn't it ??

thinnerlikeachickendinner · 14/06/2021 13:27

Oh sorry traybake was me I namechanged temporarily.

thinnerlikeachickendinner · 14/06/2021 13:27

Obviously I did NOT eat any delicious traybakes.

Andi2020 · 14/06/2021 14:28

Well done on great losses
Not a big one for me but still happy overall and will keep going happy that I have lost over 1stone.
I am going to try strict week to end and hopefully maintain under 150.
Enjoy the week

ditavonteesed · 14/06/2021 17:55

Wow @MrsBertBibby @cheeseisthebest @Anicetraybake excellent losses. And well done everyone else, seems like we have mastered the maintaining when life slipped back in, I feel like that's an achievement in itself.
Sounds like a very hard day @prettybird.
Hope you enjoyed the garden @BIWI, I've been hiding from the sun due to my gingerness.
@MilesJuppIsMyBitch ewwww.
@BestIsWest me too, strict for a fortnight and see what I can achieve.
@Rayna37 nobody loves Kale, it's just wrong.
I'm not weighing till tomorrow because there was an incident involving my absolute favourite ever cherry pie that dh brought me back from his parents.
I just made the best dessert ever. Do7ble cream whipped with a coconut collaborative little chocolate pot (11g carbs but I only had half) served over blueberries and strawberries. Was absolutely delicious.

ditavonteesed · 14/06/2021 18:07

Also have some pretty flowers for anyone that needs them

Stokey · 14/06/2021 18:10

Well done on the weight loss everyone.

I'm down by 1.8lbs, spot on my original target. Think I'm going to try and lose a bit more. Saw a Dr today about my jaw issues, which is something called TMD, and have been told to eat soft food until I recover, which could take up to a week. So while I don't expect to see the amazing losses of @MrsBertBibby, I'm hoping for a good push this week (week 8 for me).

Made gazpacho today inspired by the end of the previous thread, which is cooling in the fridge ready for supper.

Stokey · 14/06/2021 18:11

& your pudding is making me drool @ditavonteesed

BestIsWest · 14/06/2021 19:52

Well done everyone on the weight loss.
@ditavonteesed that pudding sounds delightful. I wouldn’t have thought of doing something like that.

@stokey, I suffer from TMD too. Had a horrendous bout of it earlier this year when the pain went from my jaw to my shoulder but it seems to have eased now. I did have a splint made by the dentist at one time which helped a bit.

Not sure whether I had NSV or not today as DM commented that I’d lost weight. However as she has an obsession with weight and comments on someones weight almost every time we go there (usually DS who is a 6’3 beanpole) I’m not really sure it counts.

Lovely day off though, a visit to a new garden centre, bought lots of plants including a new rose, Japanese anemones, stocks and a delphinium. Now to decide where to plant them.

StuntNun · 14/06/2021 20:34

I didn't know you could get temporary TMD Stokey, everyone in the online forums has had it for years or decades! Shock Lots of soup and scrambled eggs for you. After I had my jaw surgery last year, DH stewed meat for a long time for me so it was nice and soft.

cheeseisthebest · 14/06/2021 21:27

So today I've had -
Fasted until 1pm, then asparagus and two buttery boiled eggs.
6.30 ish, bacon, courgette and leek cooked in butter mixed with boursin, cooked chicken thighs with crispy skin and some buttery spinach on the side.

1 tea, 2 creamy coffees and 5 pints water.

StuntNun · 15/06/2021 06:23

Nice one cheeseisthebest your food sounds lush.
