Week 10 - Low Carb Bootcamp - sadly we're not out yet ...

BIWI · 14/06/2021 08:57

Well, this Bootcamp was designed to finish on what's become known as Freedom Day, next Monday.

Sadly it looks like that isn't to be Sad

However, I hope that the last few weeks have helped you get ready to burst out into the new world! In many ways, the extra four weeks does give us a bit more time! (Don't worry, Bootcamp will still finish with next Monday's weigh-in Wink)

Anyway, as ever, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Looks like it's going to be a glorious day - at least here Darn Sarf. I have nothing planned, and DH is out playing golf, so I shall enjoy the garden to myself, I think.

Hope we all have a good last week Flowers

Sorry for the many posts. So I've put on a pound. Back to strict boot camp rules for a couple of days.

ditavonteesed · 17/06/2021 08:04

Thank goodness it's cooled down a bit so I might be able to actually do some exercise today. I did a yoga with adrienne core workout the other day and my core still hurts so I'm excepting my 6 pack any day now. Plank challenge going well, up to 1 min 30 secs now. Ideally need to work on my core as I keep hurting my back at work.
I have been a saint since Sunday and it's paid off, at the lowest I've been today and I seem to have started going down everyday again.

There is actually a chance I could hit what was my initial target of bmi 25 in a fortnight. 2.4lbs to go.

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 17/06/2021 08:12

Just popped on to say welcome to @Bryonyshcmyony and that I’ve finally managed to lose the half term gain of 7/8lbs. Very pleased. Am now 80.0kg, which is 7kg lighter than I have ever been as an adult, (I’m 55!) and 1g more and I’m in the 70-something kgs. Absolutely unheard of!Shock

Bryonyshcmyony · 17/06/2021 08:24

Ifeelmuchlessfat that's amazing! I am 81. 6 kg and need to get to 75kg.

Pleaseandthankyou · 17/06/2021 08:28

@Ifeelmuchlessfat brilliant. I have just stood on the scales and I am the lowest I have been in probably 10 years. I am a little bit older than you. Another 4 pounds will take me into the next stone which I never thought I would see again. I am not low carbing at weekends but I think my portion size is reduced. If I want a cinnamon swirl I have it for lunch , not with a mid morning coffee.
I put 2lbs on at the weekend. 3lbs off today.
Yesterday’s food
2 boiled eggs mashed with butter
Smoked salmon open sandwich - without the bread
Minced lamb cooked with leeks, courgette, mushrooms and roast cauliflower- served with a dollop on Greek yoghurt.
I very small glass of red wine and a square of dark chocolate.
This is typical day. At no point did I feel hungry or deprived.
I hope I can keep this up as it is working for me.

BIWI · 17/06/2021 08:35

I'm so pleased and glad to see how well everyone is doing - especially as we're at the end of this Bootcamp.

So annoying I've only just found it! Never mind. It's been so helpful reading the old threads.

Stokey · 17/06/2021 08:44

Great results @Ifeelmuchlessfat @FusionChefGeoff @Pleaseandthankyou.

Hi @Bryonyshcmyony. I do think you get drunk more quickly in this diet as you don't have carbs to soak up the alcohol. I remember my Dad (bit of a pisshead) used to make me drink milk before I went out when I was younger to help soak it up. So watch out for that. Although I barely drink now so may just be that I'm not used to it!

I was a bit shocked this morning to see I'd put on nearly 2kg. I have been eating a bit of mango sorbet the last couple of evenings but didn't think it would make that much difference. Then got off the scales and saw they were still showing 1.75kg which was a massive relief.

Stricter again now that the rain has come & I'm no longer melting, hoping to lose another couple of pounds before the end of this month (I'm 2 weeks behind).

prettybird · 17/06/2021 08:44

@Bryonyshcmyony - in terms of what to have for your supper, make sure it includes a FLGV (Fuck Load of Green Veg) as that so far looks lacking in your menu for the day Smile

Yes it will include a small mountain of broccoli and cabbage. I think it will be Heck chicken sausages. I'm going to try and lay off the cheese and nuts!

Bryonyshcmyony · 17/06/2021 08:50

Oh and I've decided to skip breakfast and have a large Tuna salad for lunch. Tin of Tuna, lots of chopped lettuce, cucumber, celery and whatever else I can find.

BIWI · 17/06/2021 08:56

Don't forget @Bryonyshcmyony that you are in the infamous week 3! Don't start messing around with things too much. But a return to strictness is never a bad idea Smile

And don't worry about this being the end - we always keep a chat thread going.

And if we're very lucky, the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready might add a few more columns to the spreadsheet.

(Hope you're OK Athelstane?)

Ah yes the infamous week 3! I will try and remember that. Trouble is, I get over excited about making new recipes and trying new low carb things and perhaps end up eating too many (whispers) calories maybe

Joking and twitching aside Grin can I recommend that you read this book?

Very good explanation of how our weight is controlled by hormones, which are directly influenced by the type of food we eat - i.e. it really isn't about calories!

Ooh. Love a book. Yes I will definitely read it.

BestIsWest · 17/06/2021 10:44

Whole fresh coconut? Just how carby is it? It is one of my favourite things and DH bought me one yesterday. I ate a tiny bit but seem to find conflicting reports from 6g per hundred to 15g. MFP has 43g for a whole coconut.
I must say it is the most delicious coconut I’ve ever had.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 17/06/2021 11:28

Beautiful flowers @ditavonteesed !

Sorry about your jaw @Stokey : TMD is v painful

@VeryLittleOwl sorry you had to physically demonstrate an intolerance to your mum! Blimey! Maybe we can help you come up with strategies.

@ElasticFirecracker hope you're feeling better today.

@prettybird so sorry about your friends mum Thanks

@venusandmars that sounds very annoying! So disappointing when you're looking forward to a treat

Welcome @Bryonyshcmyony !

Congratulations on your loss @Ifeelmuchlessfat !

I've been struggling in the heat: it makes me feel huge, flabby and permanently damp. It also makes me want to drink Pimms. I've stayed off the booze, but I'm grimly trudging on rather than flying atm.

It's a bit cooler today, which helps. Onwards!

BIWI · 17/06/2021 13:02

@BestIsWest Sainsbury's - my go to! - gives it as 3.5g per 100g.

OP posts:
BIWI · 17/06/2021 13:04

... and McCanceWiddowsonsCompositionofFoodsIntegratedDataset_2021, that @nowlook linked to, shows it at 3.7g per 100g

Such lovely news coming in! I'm calling an end to this BC a few days early because I'm pissing off to Portugal for a week from tomorrow! Grin I'll still be working, but it will be great to get a bit of sun with DS2 (he's being homeschooled for the final term of year 6- long old story!).

The scales say that I've lost a whopping 30lbs since January and now I'm comfortably in my old holiday clothes, I can afford a week of slight relaxation Wink

Thanks so much to all of you who have kept me koko over the past two BCs Star

Rayna37 · 17/06/2021 13:22

Just catching up, back under 9st but still not got very far this bootcamp; too much time off plan as things have opened up. My parents are visiting this weekend which won't help especially as we're going for the afternoon tea I bought them for Christmas 2019 bloody Covid though I'm having the "gentleman's tea" which is less cake, more savoury stuff like mini pies I think. Eating out that night too.

Lovely low carb M&S sausages and ratatouille tonight.

New bike has arrived and is fabulous so will hopefully get lots of extra exercise in.

New (old) dining table also arrived so going to be able to enjoy that. Just need a nice tablecloth, mats, napkins etc now and my beautiful dining room will finally be finished.

FusionChefGeoff · 17/06/2021 14:08

Here's me in the past waxing lyrical about how supportive DH is being and how behind the new woe he is....

He just said "are you allowed cheese"

GrinGrinGrin

I reckon I AM 85% cheese

Bryonyshcmyony · 17/06/2021 14:49

FusionChefGeoff that made me laugh!

Went to make my Tuna salad and realised I didn't have any Tuna, cheese or salad 🤔

So I chopped up a huge bundle of broccoli and fried it in butter with garlic and a leftover tin of anchovies. Then poured in some double cream and simmered for a bit. God, it was good. I was still feeling hungry so had two celery sticks with almond butter.

Tonight dd returns from a camping trip, so I'm making her favourite spaghetti with pancetta and cherry tomatoes, garlic and basil. I will have courgettes or runner beans instead of pasta.
