Week 2 - Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp

Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

@MrsKoala - the ones in the garden are from last year. I buy fresh for the raised bed each year and in theory am supposed to plant them after they've flowered in the border but usually don't get round to it Blush. This year was the first year that I actually transplanted most of them, even if the majority were done really late in January.

MrsKoala · 19/04/2021 20:07

Do you think a flare up could be caused by stress ?

Mine definitely is. I’ve not tried any sleep oils but I’ve read that ones with lavender, chamomile or geranium help sooth and bring down redness. Mine isn’t too bad so I’m lucky but I really hate having such a red face and having to wear makeup to cover it.

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 19/04/2021 20:10

Ooh blue black lashes sound gorgeous.

Still locked down here in sunny NI! Since Boxing Day.

Aubergine moussaka was yum and had spearmint tea to follow.

Bestbees · 19/04/2021 20:18

These tulips are beautiful! I think lock down life has made me appreciate nature so much more. We had some stunning views in Shropshire this weekend (see photo)

@MrsKoala my grandmother lived at Igtham Mote ShockGrin

Good day here today, despite over salting my fennel dish.

I agree bestbees, wasn't much of a nature lover before but notice and appreciate everything a lot more now.

Good food day today-
Breakfast, scrambled eggs, spinach and smoked salmon with extra butter.
2 creamy coffees, one tea
Lunch - an m and s pack of tandoori chicken. Bit of greek yoghurt on the side.
Dinner - roast chicken leg with skin on, broccoli, gravy and celeriac mash with buttered leeks. Loved the mash, hadn't made it before.
Few chunks of smoked cheddar.
2.5 litres of water.

BestIsWest · 19/04/2021 20:38

@Doilooklikeatourist I’m down near the coast but I’m a member at Aberglasney so go about once a month though this is the first visit since lockdown ended. It really is beautiful, as is the whole area.

MrsKoala · 19/04/2021 20:55

Aberglasnay looks amazing. I don’t know that part of the world much but it’s now on my list (I dream of owning a camper and and touring round all these places).

Wow @Bestbees did she actually live in the house? Or the area?

I’m loving the idea of blue black lashes. I’ve just discovered a gold eyeliner on my waterline and it really makes a difference. Subtle colour changes that aren’t immediately obvious can have a real impact. I’m missing my lvl lashes. My home tint isn’t the same.

Rayna37 · 19/04/2021 20:55

Good day for food, nothing fancy:
B: boiled eggs with celery salt late morning (Swim day, packed breakfast)
L: tuna mayo on salad (spinach, cherry toms, cucumber, black olives); Greek yogurt
D: 2 Toulouse sausages (Sainsbury's and M&S both do great ones) with buttery cauli mash and kale

Bestbees · 19/04/2021 21:01

@mrskoala in the house! She was evacuated there, owned by her uncle I believe. Suffice to say I am not living in that level of luxury!

These fancy lashes sound tempting, off to Google!

prettybird · 19/04/2021 21:03

Not been feeling well today Sad Bad lower abdomen spasms Sad Just had a bath in the hope that the warmth would relax the spasms - but it's only worked ever so slightly Sad

Cancelled going to rugby training today and spent the afternoon snuggled up on the sofa in my afghan blanket.

BIWI · 19/04/2021 21:04

Sorry to hear that @prettybird. Something that I found works for me if I have IBS cramping is hot water with some lemon in it. It's very soothing.

Bestbees · 19/04/2021 21:16

@prettybird sorry you are feeling rough. Do you have a hot water bottle? I find that it does wonders for pain, but also brings such comfort. Hope you feel better soon.

Angliski · 19/04/2021 21:20

Only 1lb off here. Bit disappointed as I have so many to lose!

Angliski · 19/04/2021 21:21

Today

B fried eggs and mackerel and salad
L vege casserole with halloumi and some chicken meatballs
D osso buco with lots of celery and no wine salad and salad dressing and tablespoon of yoghurt

FusionChefGeoff · 19/04/2021 21:46

@ElasticFirecracker I really think I need to do that to work out what causes my abdominal bloating. Dr has done lots of normal tests and recommended fodmap but it's so confusing and daunting. That's why I'm here tbh as I wanted to try something radical but easier to follow!! At some point, I may admit defeat and do it properly. I think because I don't get pain (now I've stopped eating gluten) or rashes etc I'm not motivated enough to sort it. I've got the app too but can't get into the habit.

@TheHoover I prefer unsweetened soy milk in tea - less obvious taste I reckon

Elevenses: few olives, feta
Lunch: lemon and parsley salmon salad with hm coleslaw and tsatsiki. Lemon and dill oil dressing.
Dinner: creamy chicken and bacon with mushrooms, cabbage, green beans, mini sweetcorn. Greek yoghurt.

Doilooklikeatourist · 19/04/2021 22:06

Blue black is the darkest black tint I think ( that doesn’t make sense really )
Brown black is slightly fairer
I’ve been getting my eyelashes tinted for years , it’s what I missed most about not being able to go to the beauty salon !

Momsincharge · 19/04/2021 23:31

I only lost a pound, but it was more Than I deserved! Too much cheating while on holiday.

My two litre water bottle has really worked. I drank over 3 litres today!

Breakfast: egg cups
Lunch: tuna sandwich on seriously low carb bun
Dinner: salt and pepper shrimp with stir fried peas in their pods
Snacks: cheese

I am really missing nuts and lemons.

50FootWave · 20/04/2021 06:26

Good morning everyone.

Menu today...

B: scrambled eggs
L: tofu stirfry FLGV
D: homemade meatballs with broccoli

3l water.

Upped my weights in bodypump yesterday, feeling a bit sore, but need to run, so tough luck me!

Oneborneverydecade · 20/04/2021 06:56

Was in the process of typing and lost it humpf

In summary :
Mrs K your garden looks/sounds fab
We've been to a few of those places but not enough - slightly too far for a day trip with the car sick 9yo sadly - one day

@prettybird your garden also looks fab - and was that your house behind the pergola? Gorgeous
I hope you're feeling better

@Bestbees that's a fun fact, have you visited?

To the pp with the camper van I am jealous. I didn't see the appeal until we joined the PIL in theirs for a cuppa on top of a big hill recently

ditavonteesed · 20/04/2021 06:58

@prettybird i hope your feeling better this morning.

debka · 20/04/2021 06:59

Morning everyone.
B- eggs and butter, might throw in some bacon too
L- olives/cheese/whatever I can pack to take to the library today
D- steak and salad and peppercorn sauce

Oneborneverydecade · 20/04/2021 07:03

@Patapouf good luck! It's great that you know it works for you and the warmer weather is always added motivation for me

@ouchmyfeet thank you for the link

Another garden walk for DD, mum and I today

Bestbees · 20/04/2021 07:19

@Angliski don't be disheartened, weight loss isn't the same for everyone. Have you taken measurements? Seen any other benefits?

@Oneborneverydecade visited once, but was too embarassed to say anything about the connection!

@debkado you work in a library? Would love to do that!

Plan for today
L avocado and boiled eggs
D lamb curry, cauli rice and spicy cabbage. Greek yoghurt.
Will try to get a bike ride in too.
Have a great day everyone

Timetobuckup · 20/04/2021 07:39

My pics of Arundel tulips just popped up in my memories and made me jealous of all you going to various tulip love ins. They are really gorgeous. Our garden is a mess, I dream of Titchmarsh and co sneaking in and fixing it all.
I am feeling very pleased with myself as I remembered to cook up a couple of chicken breasts last night for lunches and saved some bolognese before DH could snaffle it so I am sorted for the next few days at work now.
Today's plan is
B- EGGS (again)
L- Left over bolognese and some salad leaves with dressing
D-salmon and ??

I hope everyone has got the sunshine today, depending on how bonkers today is at work I think I will go for a walk later. Unopened Bluebells will have to do instead of tulips.

Rshard · 20/04/2021 08:04

Welcome patapouf.

Another fan of tulips so have enjoyed seeing the pics, I would love to go to keukenhof in the Netherlands to see them. All the talk of visiting places is making me so glad that places are opening up, will feel such a treat to visit gardens etc.

Hope you’re feeling better this morning prettybird
