Week 2 - Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp

Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

I’m 5 ft 5 and 60 ( and absolutely shattered today )
Went out for a 5 mile or so walk yesterday DD leading the way ( she’s 23 and a size 8 ) as she wanted to get her exercise points on her watch
DH and I struggling to keep up ( me especially )
Tried a run this morning and managed about 100 yards , though I did manage a 90 second plank
Another walk this afternoon , and a nice roast pork dinner , , though I couldn’t get the low carb cheese sauce to thicken for some reason , it still tasted good though , if a little runny

Oneborneverydecade · 25/04/2021 20:01

The big 50 @colouringindoors! You did well to time that for after lockdown

venusandmars · 25/04/2021 20:08

5'4 and 59.75 years (the 0.25 of a year is very important when dh is 60 this week. He'll be in his 60s, I'll still be in my 50s and therefore a whole decade younger than him for 3 verrrrry loooong months Grin )

Rayna37 · 25/04/2021 20:12

Ran 3 miles first thing THEN biked 8! Unheard of! First run since February, hoping to get back into it ready for parkrun restarting in June. Lovely afternoon at a Shire Horse place too so lots of fresh air and time on my feet.

5'3" and 41 so just off the curve. Liking the PPs phrase "Vanity pounds"; that's what I'm here for. My small frame doesn't carry weight well and it's all round my middle which I know isn't healthy. Here to get my BMI closer to 21 than over 23 where I started this.

Cooked roast beef and made a reduced quantity of Yorkshires and so none for me! Normally I operate on if I'm not having them, no-one is, so that was good. The roasted radishes were a hit even with the toddler and I had spring greens, lots of broccoli and a bit of carrot. Did have gravy though.

Not expecting wonders tomorrow after my case of the fuckits faced with cake and company yesterday.

colouringindoors · 25/04/2021 20:31

Oneborneverydecade I did Grin though I will probably be 3 weeks after back surgery so probably no dancing for me this year Wink. Bubbles though 🍾

MrsBertBibby · 25/04/2021 20:33

Knackered! I spent all morning making up bee hive frames, then hoiked a load of sacks of dug up lawn to the tip. This afternoon we inspected the bees, and found them on the brink of swarming. Cue frantic running about with extra bee boxes to split them so they don't swarm.

Dinner was leaves, fried mushies, and fried halloumi. Yum!

Angliski · 25/04/2021 20:35

@StuntNun sure.

You don’t need all the flour etx. I do it on slow cooker.
Take yer oxtail and pan fry in oil.
Dice lots of celery, celeriac, spring greens, garlic, mushrooms an onion/scallions and whatever herbs you have in fresh - oregano, thyme, bay leaves etc
Season.
Shove the lot in the slow cooker for 8 hours.
Scoff.

Angliski · 25/04/2021 20:35

Ps fennel is also good but I never remember to buy it.

Pleaseandthankyou · 25/04/2021 20:37

Gorgeous weekend. 24km walked all in sunshine.

Bestbees · 25/04/2021 20:39

I am 5'3.5" and 35. @Rayna37 interesting about frames etc. I am at the top of my bmi and when I was bmi 23 people commented that I had no bum! I am currently at about 24.5, but would love to loose a few more lbs. However whilst my weight hasn't changed much I feel like my shape has changed, lost my saddlebags and bloat!

Oops the end of my message went! It should have said that the photo is me ready to go out last night. Beginning of the year I couldn't get this jumpsuit on and I was only 2lb heavier.

VeryLittleOwl · 25/04/2021 20:42

@ChoosandChipsandSealingWax - okay, just for you, some cute lambs! These were numbers 11 and 12 to be born and are about two hours old here. 13, who arrived yesterday with his sister, 14, had a bit of a bad start, his mum lambed at the top of a fairly steep slope and he tumbled down it (or possibly was pushed...) and by the time I found him curled up under a gorse bush feeling rather sorry for himself, his mum had decided she only had one lamb and didn't really want to know. Fortunately a night penned up with him changed her mind and now she loves him too, but I was worried I was going to have one on the bottle for a moment.

I've thought for years that I'm 5'5", but I thought I'd double check, reading everyone's posts today, using DH's new steel tape measure and a bit of cardboard on top of my head. Unless I got the cardboard wonky, I'm actually 5'6" (still 45 though, apparently that doesn't change on remeasuring). I shall get DH to check in the morning and if I'm right I can update my Renpho app and hopefully turn some more numbers green Grin

Just checking in at the end of the weekend.

B: Greek yog
L: Sliced pork loin, olives, cheese, cucumber, pepper and guacamole
D: Spag-less Bol, with green beans.

Not enough water, and I went for a run. When I say a run it was not an impressive one.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 25/04/2021 21:43

Today didn’t exactly go to plan!

Meant to food shop and cook, plus do some house stuff. There’s been a sofa on our lawn for a week, combination of period from hell and bad backs has prevented us from actually getting it upstairs yet Hmm

Actually I slept till 1pm, ate lunch, then dozed off till 7pm Blush

Dinner is whatever LC food I can find in the freezer, house is still a tip, and sofa is still on the lawn Blush And I’ll probably be awake all night 😭🤦🏻‍♀️

Random789 · 25/04/2021 21:46

B: Coffee with cream;

L: 2 eggs scrambled with leftover swede

D: Two skin-on chicken drumsticks with very creamy braised cabbage

Andi2020 · 25/04/2021 21:53

Beautiful weather
I'm eating all the right food drinking water think my excercise is the problem
I Try doing 5000 steps a day but no other exercise just can't do any with a bad back for 30 years.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend
I'm 5ft 6 and 50
See everyone putting down height and age

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/04/2021 22:10

However whilst my weight hasn't changed much I feel like my shape has changed, lost my saddlebags and bloat!

I’ve found that too - I’m definitely narrower, if you know what I mean, saddlebags have reduced (though I’ve a long way to go). Today I bought a top and a dress in a smaller size which fit really well and actually the dress could go a size smaller again (though I suspect it’s generously made). I’ve not lost a huge amount - about 10lbs in total so far but my shape is changing presumably a combination of losing bloat and less inflammation.

cheeseisthebest · 25/04/2021 22:26

I'm similar. Also lost 10 to 12 lb depending! But tried some clothes on today that previously looked awful with my stomach rolls and now looked too big. Strange! In a good way!

Linnet · 25/04/2021 22:27

Went for a 4 mile walk today around a local loch, it was lovely.

Food was...
B- skipped
L- low carb nibble things
D- garlic chicken and veg

Linnet · 25/04/2021 22:28

Oh and 3L of water

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 25/04/2021 23:12

I’m sure this has been asked before, but what are your thoughts on ‘smart water’? A very quick glance seemed to indicate it has magnesium something and potassium something else, which sounds beneficial, but I remain suspicious Hmm

BIWI · 25/04/2021 23:13

@Andi2020

You don't need to exercise to lose weight - as the saying goes, 'you can't outrun your fork'! Weight loss is about diet and not exercise. So don't worry if your bad back means you can't do any.

Another one here who is 5ft2in! Sadly, not 42 though. Will turn 62 in August. (How did that happen?! Seems only 5 minutes ago I was just 27!)

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery

Sounds OK to me - ingredients are:

Vapour Distilled Spring Water, Electrolytes (Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Bicarbonate)

TBH it would be better if it had sodium in it, but the rest of it seems OK
