Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

@TheHoover just to add to what others have said about inflammation..

My dsis developed a peanut allergy, as an adult. Over a 6 week period she displaye increasing 'allergic' reactions to various substances, none of which she was actually allergic to once her immune system had calmed down.

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 19/04/2021 17:22

That's so interesting about allergies. I developed what I think is rosacea last year out of nowhere. My cheeks are red and dry with the skin peeling and cracking and looks awful Sad Would just be my luck it's a reaction to something I love Grin

MrsKoala · 19/04/2021 17:30

@Oneborneverydecade I’ve not got a Gardeners World discount card no. I’m not sure if you can use it for the tulip festival. They don’t allow you to use the HH card for a discount during this fortnight. They really need to make as much money as possible to catch up from last year I think. We also go to the Dahlia show in September, but tulips are my favourite. 3 years ago I spent a fortune on tulips there and the following year the garden looked amazing but then the following year half were blind then the next only 10% came up. Now I’ve only got a handful of them.

I’ve not been to Arundel. We’ve been talking about going down that way this year but it might have to wait till next summer now.

I see all these portable cool boxes and raise you a campervan with a fridge GrinI'm allowed to be smug after years with DH's 80s van with a temperamental fridge temperamental everything. Great even just for days out. Or even just a coffee after a run or walk out. Or, omelettes after a bike ride or run...

My Dad was a truck driver with, I swear, more kit in his cab than I had in my kitchen through most of university. It is out there if you look for it!

prettybird · 19/04/2021 18:08

I love tulips Smile These is my garden today - but my raised bed with its tulips (supposedly for cutting but I never do Wink) is way behind where it usually is, with nothing yet flowering. The picture of it in full bloom is from a few years ago.

TheHoover I've been drinking tea with almond milk for years and now normal tea tastes weird and horrible to me. It's worth experimenting with different brands. I prefer Almond Breeze to Alpro and fresh is nicer than long life. Always make sure you check it's unsweetened as it's easy to pick up the sweetened one by mistake. Sainsburys also sell a cold brew almond milk coffee that's lovely with ice.

Keeva2017 · 19/04/2021 18:20

Thanks @BIWI and everyone.

B Greek yogurt and a boiled egg (separately)
L subway salad - went a little off kilter here but had lettuce cucumber, bit of a tomato and peppers, double chicken and a bit of cheese with Mayo.
D will be roast beef salad with a little feta.

I’m just feeling the salad in this weather.

Well done again everyone.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 19/04/2021 18:24

Oooh posted on old thread by mistake. So happy with my modest 2lb loss and am really loving my diet. Wonderful to be allowed butter. . Not hungry at all!

At my worst I had terrible rosacea, but it's completely gone now.
BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 19/04/2021 18:53

That's great to hear @ElasticFirecracker, means there's hope?! Is there anything you used or can recommend? Did it go away on it's own? When I exfoliate the dry crusty skin my cheeks weep like they've been burnt Confused I thought I'd left my bad skin days in my teenage years!

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 19/04/2021 18:56

@prettybird your tulips are beautiful! They are my DM's favourite flowers. She's been trying to get my DF to make something similar for growing tulips for years. He's a landscape gardener but never gets round to doing his own!

Andi2020 · 19/04/2021 18:59

@MrsKoala and @Prettybird love the flowers.
Increased my steps today and going to cut fruit like I should have last week.
How many steps is everyone doing
I work 8 hours a day at a desk so really need to exercise. Any tips from other office workers.

Random789 · 19/04/2021 19:19

Beautiful tulips, mrs koala and prettybird. I have some very vivid orange ones that will be doing their thing in a week or two. I didn't like tulips much until a few years ago. I thought they looked too 'artificial'. But I like them a lot now that I've paid more attention to some lovely varieties.

Just made the sardine fishcakes from the spreadsheet. Very tasty, so thank you to whoever contributed that recipe. I got the mixture too wet, so they didn't keep their structure very well. Might try an extra egg next time. Or perhaps i was too timid with the cream cheese.

MrsKoala · 19/04/2021 19:28

I also have rosacea and red itchy/sore lumps which come up on my face. I find this woe helps and also cutting out wine and sticking to vodka and soda. I use these products at night before a retinol. I’d advise retinol too but do ease yourself into retinol if you’ve not used it before, you need to build up a to,era ve and can get a bit dry and flaky before it gets better. But it’s worth it. Use a glycolic acid toner and vit C serum in the mornings - I rate Beauty Pie for this but you have to be a member (they also do good retinol). Alpha H are a great brand and this glycolic acid night treatment makes a real difference on my skin. Remember always wear at least factor 40 on your face neck and chest/décolleté (I like Clinique tinted super city block but am about to try the number 7 factor 50 as I’ve heard good things). And always double cleanse with a balm or oil and warm flannel if you’re wearing make up. I use this cleanser in the mornings on alternate days with a gentle cleansing milk on the the others.

Hello everyone! Today was day one week one and maybe my tenth time doing BC
I've attempted LCHF about 3/4 times in the last few years since having first DC and have massively massively struggled to stay on piste. My appetite is limitless due to BFing and I don't seem to be able to stay on top of home admin, DC, work and the extra planning and organisation that comes with being properly prepared for LC.

I'm so tired of making excuses and pissed off with myself that I'm literally 7 years on from my first BIWI bootcamp and still fat I lost 3.5 stones the first time so I know I can do this I just have zero willpower and I'm too lazy to properly meal plan and prep and I'm too fond of a McDonald's drive thru meal

I'm hoping I can stick it out for the whole of BC and not let the carb creep in. I'd like to lose at least 60lbs but could probably do with losing more like 80. Baby steps!

Today's menu was okay, nothing verboten was consumed but I was very hungry and DS snaffled most of my meat/cheese lunch so I need to make double portions tomorrow Grin

Soolantra (available from GP) completely solved my rosacea. A derm who I saw for something else kindly talked to me for ages about rosacea- she said Soolantra every day for four months, then every other day for I think another few months, eventually using it once a week which she calls Soolantra Sunday. Also high spf absolutely every day which has a physical element (titanium dioxide or zinc oxide) and very gentle with the exfoliating unless a gentle acid like mild salicylic. This has all really helped me so sharing in case it is helpful for anyone else.

TheHoover it’s really hard dealing with new food exclusions, I really sympathise. Some great advice on this thread. Something I read recently was that taking warm/hot baths helps reduce inflammation in case that is something you like!

BestIsWest · 19/04/2021 19:41

Speaking of tulips,, I’ve been to Aberglasney Gardens in Carmarthenshire today. The displays of tulips were magnificent. Absolutely stunning.

Patapouf · 19/04/2021 19:43

@Rayna37

Anyone needing help tracking water or motivation to drink it, look at my lovely waterlogged app telling me "I am successful" Grin

I paid the £3.99 or whatever it was to go add free and I love it! You can add your regular mug/glass/bottle etc and track water vs tea, coffee etc. Gamifying hydration.

Ooh this looks good, thanks. I used to use MFP for water but got too obsessed with looking at calories on there so wanted to avoid the app. This should help instead 👍🏼

Really interesting, I think the microbiome analysis company Zoe were involved as I’m on their U.K. waiting list (hoping they’ll change their mind about coeliacs before they get here).

MrsKoala · 19/04/2021 19:51

@prettybird I love your tulips. Particularly the pink and white. My dad has similar that are yellow and red. I love the crinkly edged ones the best. I also adore peonies too and you can get tulips that are ruffled like peonies as well. but mine only last 1 year. After the tulips are gone i focus on peonies, foxgloves, lupins and hollyhocks for the summer.

MrsKoala · 19/04/2021 19:56

Scorned castle looks incredible!
Ha. Yes, we love it there, we spend most weekends either there, Emmetts garden, Chartwell, Downe house, Ightham Mote, or Penshurst Place. Penshurst is 10 mins from my house and we have membership so are there at least once a week in the summer. Hever and Leeds castles are also fab and have great playgrounds, but quite expensive. Although Leeds you get a year membership so 3 visits a year is worthwhile, a couple of years ago they had an amazing orchid exhibition in the house at Leeds, it was utterly breathtaking.
Doilooklikeatourist · 19/04/2021 20:00

@BestIsWest Aberglasnay is just down the road from me , I do love a walk around the gardens there , also the National Botanic Gardens ( so glad they’re both open again )
Re rosacea , I’m having a terrible flare up again , and will be back at the Drs this week asking for soolantra ( I’m using Metrogel at the moment , not doing much in the way of improvement )
I’m trying ultrabland cleanser from Lush , it’s very creamy , and quite soothing
I will reread @MrsKoala and @Thinnerlikeachickendinner posts and make notes . Thanks
Do you think a flare up could be caused by stress ?

Food today
Greek yoghurt with cream , vanilla and 2 strawberries
Egg mayo and watercress ( needed to get some salad and veg , did that this afternoon )
Sausages , leek and celariac mash , cabbage and buttery mushrooms

Have also been waxed and tinted in the appropriate places
Flutters nice blue black eyelashes
