Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

I'm jealous prettybird. I would genuinely suffer Pilates to get to 5ft 4which was definitely by height before a midwife shattered my dreams 15 years ago

MrsBertBibby · 25/04/2021 14:15

Let me add some tulips!

These are Purple Dream.

Moar tulips!

I have also just discovered a delicious vegan bacon thing, only 1.5g per 100g carbs

I know it breaks the processed food rule, but it is so hard to find vegetarian things that are fast and easy beyond eggs, cheese and avocado. This is more of a garnish than anything. It will revolutionise my salads!

Question for those of you who understand the biology around food intolerances if I may?

One of my big issues has been intestinal pain and severe abdominal bloating.

The pain stopped when I went gluten free and has continued on BC apart from 1 occasion when I had a bit of an SLC roll fest on a previously empty stomach.

Yesterday, I had some bread (as in corner crust of a sandwich) in an attempt to up carbs slightly (on BIWIs advice) and alleviate palpitations.

I haven't eaten since then but had a normal bc lunch full of stuff I've been eating quite happily for weeks and now look 6 months pregnant and am in pain again!!!

Is it possible that I've irritated my gut but not enough to cause pain yesterday but that the effort of digesting any food has now triggered bloating and pain as a delayed reaction??

Angliski · 25/04/2021 15:15

Baby down and I’m off for a nap too.

All the water! 2litres already and 1.5 to go
B- scrambled eggs with veggies fired in coconut oil and bacon ( before reading to cut out processed stuff)
L- roast beef with herb butter, flgv with olive oil dressing and salad
D- probably some tinned salmon with rest of the salad and greens and dressing and a tbsp of olive oil vinegarette

StuntNun · 25/04/2021 15:29

Angliski please can I have your recipe for oxtail soup. I love oxtail but the tinned soup is really high carb.

FusionChefGeoff since you eliminated the cause of your intolerance your gut lining will have been able to heal. So the bread caused bloating, maybe from the wheat/gluten maybe from the fibre content, but didn't do enough damage to your gut lining to cause pain.

BIWI · 25/04/2021 15:35

@Random789

So perhaps I have been under-doing the salt: I've been using just pinches, cautious of the dangers of excessive salt.

Salt, along with fat and cholesterol is one of the counter-intuitive things about low carbing.

have a read of this which should reassure you about the importance of salt on this WOE

Anyone recommend me a recipe with goats cheese? I thought I had mozzarella and was planning to do meatballs in tomato sauce with mozz and spinach. But no mozzarella...

colouringindoors · 25/04/2021 16:26

Thanks Rshard yes I think BMI wise ideally us 5'2 ers shoukd be around 9 st. But I haven't weighed 9st for over 20 years and like you say, don't want to be haggard. I'm a size 10-12 at 10 stone and look slim so will be very happy to maintain that weight. Long time since I was 10 stone too...

colouringindoors · 25/04/2021 16:30

fusion if the only different thing you ate yesterday was the bread, it's most likely that which has caused the bloat. I'm finding bread/wheat has similar results. My mum is severely coeliac so I think I'm going to massively reduce wheat post bc.

venusandmars · 25/04/2021 16:37

@FusionChefGeoff that does sound very uncomfortable. It sounds like you've had a very strong inflammatory response. Unfortunately with immune responses it can be trial and error. For some people prolonged avoidance of the stimulant foodstuff(s) allows the immune system to 'quieten down', even to the extent that a previous stimulant can be tolerated (in small amounts, infrequently). For others, it seems that absence results in the body no longer being able to defend itself / eliminate the potential allergen, resulting in a heightened response if the food is reintroduced.

Are there any higher carb veg that you are usually able to tolerate, e.g. a small amount of hummus, some pureed butternut squash, some pea and ham soup? Make sure there is plenty of salt / electrolytes added.

I've had a lovely afternoon in the garden. It's breezy which make it feel like a very nice temperature. Unfortunately the sun is strong on my pale Scottish skin, and I've got a beaming red nose!

Food today:
B - 'eggy-peggy' childhood favourite of soft boiled egg mashed in a cup with butter
L - left over chicken/cauliflower alfredo
D - left-over meat loaf with a heap of salad

cheeseisthebest · 25/04/2021 16:56

I'm 5ft 1 and a half. Now 9st 12 but my BMI is still overweight. Getting there slowly. I would like to be about 9stone.

Oneborneverydecade · 25/04/2021 17:58

I wonder how many BCers are 5'2 and 42? They definitely seem to be the mode numbers

I'm having a bad day but I'm okay with it. We've celebrated DD's 3rd bday and whilst I didn't have any cake I did have a hot cross bunny bun (etc). I'm okay with it because I was at my lowest this morning, I'm close to my vanity target and I've realised, after some carb creep that I am in control, and one bad day doesn't send me down a spiral of dispair.

Salad for lunch and tea and 3+ltrs water

Oneborneverydecade · 25/04/2021 18:00

I despair at my spelling Smile

PseudoBadger · 25/04/2021 18:37

I'm 5'2 and 41!

FinallyHere · 25/04/2021 18:45

5' 3.5" and 60

That half inch is soooo important to me. 😀

cheeseisthebest · 25/04/2021 18:54

My half inch is important too. My 13 year old is the same height as me now, I don't like it! Being 42 is great! Grin

Rshard · 25/04/2021 19:02

I’m 5’2 as mentioned upthread but 47.

My dd has been taller than me since she was 13 cheeseisthebest, she loves it!

cheeseisthebest · 25/04/2021 19:08

Mine doesn't like it, said hugging me doesn't feel right!
My 9 year old is rapidly catching her up!

devoncreamtea · 25/04/2021 19:17

5’2 and 41 here 🤣

FinallyHere · 25/04/2021 19:32

Being 42 is great!

@cheeseisthebest less so as my waist waist measurement in inches

FinallyHere · 25/04/2021 19:33

😁

Just in case anyone wondered whether I was laughing

Oneborneverydecade · 25/04/2021 19:46

My 14yo DS was 6'5" at the beginning of lockdown 1.0, he's possibly taller now. He costs us a fortune in clothes and shoes

I was 42 and 5'2(+8") when I joined BC, does that count?

colouringindoors · 25/04/2021 19:58

5'2 and 49 and three quarters!
