Week 2 - Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp

Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

@debka you look amazing- so inspiring! I am in despair. I’ve really had no pasta rice potatoes bread at all and the numbers just aren’t shifting. Any advice anyone?

Rshard · 24/04/2021 18:15

I’m a convert to black coffee random789, never had it before this woe but now it’s my coffee of choice. Does take a bit of getting used to, for me anyway.

You look fab debka

nowlook · 24/04/2021 18:51

@Angliski Flowers I've just had a look at your previous posts. You managed to lose a couple of stone before doing low-carb (before hitting lockdown as hard as most of us Grin). What if anything are you doing differently this time?

You lost a pound last week, but I agree with you that with 5.5st to lose, it should be more, particularly in the first couple of weeks.

How much water are you drinking a day? If you post your daily food for the last few days, we can have a look.

I also see that you're breastfeeding, so not sure whether that's relevant @BIWI and @StuntNun.

nowlook · 24/04/2021 18:56

How's DD getting on @Rshard? I've been thinking about her. How was the French?

I've had my nails (hands and feet! The extravagance!), eyebrows and top lip done Grin.

nowlook · 24/04/2021 18:59

I think I've got that outfit somewhere in the back of the wardrobe @debka Wink

What a transformation!

And I'm delighted to see the shorts back on parade @VeryLittleOwl. Also want to give a small shout-out to the khaki t-shirt that never seems to get a mention Grin

StuntNun · 24/04/2021 19:02

Angliski can you list out a few days' food?

StuntNun · 24/04/2021 19:05

I made Ragz's celeriac dirty fries for dinner tonight (recipe is on the Vegetarian recipe thread.) So yummy and filling.

Did you use an air fryer @StuntNun? I don't have one yet and those look much crispier than my effort (which was still delicious).

ouchmyfeet · 24/04/2021 20:01

Ah @ZiggZagg I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is awful, no matter how much warning you have that it's coming. I hope you can take some comfort from happy memories.

Chaotic few days here. Made decent food choices but not drinking nearly enough water. Must do better tomorrow!

Angliski · 24/04/2021 20:02

@nowlook not breastfeeding anymore. I did low carbing at 1200 calories a say to lose it last time. It’s not budging now. I know I am going to have to start cutting calories as this just isn’t working. I’m too short to eat all the fat and lose alas :(

prettybird · 24/04/2021 20:05

My supper tonight: braaied low carb sausage, lamb kebab (marinaded in ras el hanout, olive oil and lemon juice) and asparagus, served with 3 home made (and low carb Wink) salads: coleslaw, lethal tzatziki and tomato, basil & feta salad.

Yummy Smile

Why not outline what your menus for the last few days so that we can see if there is anything obvious for you to address?

Counter-intuitively, sometimes you need to eat more for the weight to come off Confused Also, are you having all the water according to your weight?

FinallyHere · 24/04/2021 20:19

@ZiggZagg So sorry for your sad news.

StuntNun · 24/04/2021 20:28

Nowlook I do have an air fryer but I made the celeriac chips in the deep fat fryer... deep fried in lard!

Linnet · 24/04/2021 20:31

Food post for today

B-skipped
L- left over courgette lasagne thing and some chicken wings
D- turkey meatballs and veg meal from M&S

I’m on track for my 3L of water too.

nowlook · 24/04/2021 20:31

Boring post: I've only had a litre of water today (in addition to usual bucket loads of tea with unsweetened soya). I've had 2.5 litres plain water per day since January so am allowing myself a leetle experiment [saddo].

Is the braiiiiiiiii (sp?) like a bbq @prettybird? I love the unspellable greek dip, but have to steer clear as cannot remotely moderate...

@Angliski you really, really, really don't need to go low calorie.

You can eat all the fat and still lose!

List out for me the meals (and the drinks) you've been having over the last few days. There is bound to be something we can help you with.

Beautiful recipe which I cooked tonight (have made it several times now and it always blows me away as it's so lovely!!)

Cauliflower purée

From José Pisarro "Basque"

Ingredients:

1 cauliflower, broken into florets
500ml full fat milk
50g butter
salt and white pepper

  • put the florets into a pan and add the milk; bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes
  • drain, but reserve the milk
  • tip the cauliflower back into the pan, and add 50ml of the reserved milk and the butter, and then using a hand blender, purée until smooth and glossy. Season with salt and white pepper

(I haven't done this yet, but I froze the remaining milk and will use to make a soup of some kind)

You're giving me hope, Rshard, that I will be able to adjust to black coffee. Actually, it is already quite enjoyable to explore different kinds of coffee in a way that you can't went they are drowned in milk.
I have a Nespresso machine [Sorry, Greta Thunberg) and always buy a variety of capsules. Now perhaps I can really start to make the most of them -- once I've got over the hurdle of hating black coffee Confused

B: Greek yoghurt and cream. 1 white coffee

L: Sardines, mushrooms and courgettes in a creamy sauce.

D: poached cod with cheese and butter; cubic foot of mashed swede (worried that the sheer volume of swede was enough to be too many carbs).

FinallyHere · 24/04/2021 20:55

Loving the photos, such an inspiration @debka I keep forgetting to post what I have eaten, maybe because I have been skipping breakfast which I know is against the rules. I just can't face food when I first wake up and am not having larger meals to compensate.

Yesterday
Three sausages (
