Week 2 - Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp

Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

@ZiggZagg also so sorry to hear about your dad. I’m so glad you had some time to be with him. FlowersBrew

Tickledtrout · 24/04/2021 07:42

@ZiggZagg so sorry for your loss.

Rayna37 · 24/04/2021 07:43

So sorry ZiggZagg Thanks

I've just had my first ever egg in a cup! A revelation. To be fair, a much bigger faff than 2 eggs scrambled which is my weekday quick breakfast staple, but as DS is currently insisting on dippy eggs every weekend I might as well go with it.

Smorgs · 24/04/2021 07:46

Sorry to hear about your Dad @ZiggZagg, mine died a decade ago and I still feel like he’s just at his house and I haven’t seen him for a bit. Flowers

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/04/2021 08:09

My condolences to you @ZiggZagg

prettybird · 24/04/2021 08:29

So sorry about your dad @ZiggZagg ThanksThanksDo what you can at the moment but look after yourself and don't beat yourself up. Thanks

My mum died 9 years ago last Tuesday (although we'd "lost" her years before that, so in some respects it was a reliefSad) and I still miss her as she too was my best friend and I talked to her a lot, for friendship, advice and support. But, similar to @Moonswimmer, she's still a positive influence on my life and I can now remember her joyously and aspire to live life like she did, well Smile

She'd have been really supportive of the weight I'd lost although I'd probably never have put on as much Blush and would probably have joined us herself here on Boot Camp, dispensing her highly articulate words of wisdom Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 24/04/2021 08:32

Oh @ZiggZagg I'm so so sorry and it sounds like you can find some solace in the release and peace that he now has.

I'm still feeling a bit wiped out and 'skippy' in the heart department so I'm going to try a gentle run which often helps reset things.

Then an electrolyte drink and a bit of breakfast which I don't usually have but going to give it a try.

I've just said to DH I'm so used to feeling amazing on this woe that when I don't I'm feeling most disgruntled!!!

B: eggs, spinach and avo mash
L: salmon salad
D: some kind of BBQ meat and salad with grilled dick emoji and courgette I think! Stealing inspiration from PP sorry I didn't check you name!!

cheeseisthebest · 24/04/2021 08:32

I'm so sorry ZiggZagg

Good morning @BIWI and all, can I please join?? I did the Bootcamp a few years ago and it was really great! I have had a difficult lockdown though and the weight has piled on. Also put a stone on before lockdown in stress of my MIL dying and then moving house. So I have a good couple of stone plus to shift!

I have actually already started so if you could please add me to the spreadsheet that would be wonderful (I tried adding myself just now but couldn’t work out how to do it on my phone, sorry)

12/4
Start weight 177 pounds
12 stone 9

I lost two and a half pounds last week which I am really pleased about!

Now need to catch up with the thread to see how everyone has been doing and ‘meet’ everyone. Looking forward to joining in!

@ZiggZagg so sorry to hear about your father. He sounds like a wonderful man. I don't know whether you like poetry, but I think this is beautiful, written after his father's death:
poets.org/poem/my-father-moved-through-dooms-love

@MrsKoala yes and for me it is always the same twin in A&E! Twice in two days last year! You are so right about your son, he is a lucky boy to have a great mother on his side. I wish him all the best.

Plan today
Lunch will probably be psb and eggs in some format
Dinner husband wants fish and chips so I am going to order chicken and add homemade salad. Out tonight with friends, so will have some booze but not much as I really don't want a hangover!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 24/04/2021 08:49

Morning! Another stunning day here in the South (although the garden looks a bit thirsty).

@Angliski I am very jealous of your London frolics! I lived and worked there for years, and have had serious withdrawal symptoms. Oh, for a breath of leaded London air...

@Random789 your dog looks like he was an utter poppet Thanks

@FusionChefGeoff that sounds very worrying for you. I know what you mean about feeling cross when you don't feel good EVEN THOUGH you're eating so well. I'm exactly the same Grin

The kids first week back is done. I just want to lie face down on a nice quiet bit of floor, but I'm teaching this morning. I just keep telling myself it's going to pay for our holiday.

I hope everyone's weekend is starting nicely. ☕️

venusandmars · 24/04/2021 08:52

Flowers for ZiggZagg it's such a hard time. When my dad died, I'd spent days by his side, but had gone home for a shower and wasn't with him when he went. I still feel sad about that. But I know that being with him so much beforehand eased things for me and for him.

I didn't actually have much to drink yesterday, but after a day walking in the sunshine, it went to my head. It's been very strange for dh retiring at this time. His office has been closed for over a year and he has been wfh. He had to get permission to go in with a security guard yesterday morning and quietly empty his locker thankfully there was no mouldy packed lunch or fruit in there. There's a more formal retirement next week with speeches etc but yesterday was his team farewell and he was feeling very emotional about that. He's worked really hard to keep them all together and positive during the last year and he feels a bit like he's leaving them in the lurch at a time that is still really challenging workwise. However he has not thrived on wfh and is mightily relieved to be finished (almost).

Food today:
Coffee with cream then my rescheduled hair cut
Brunch: smoked cod on buttered spinach topped with poached egg (the meal I didn't have yesterday)
D - meat loaf and salad

MrsBertBibby · 24/04/2021 08:53
