Week 2 - Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp

Sunday night here is games night, so better that I start the thread now, before I forget as I've gone to bed so late!

I truly hope that this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness works!

Apologies if it doesn't, but hopefully someone will come and post a working one if it doesn't!

I love week 2, as for those who haven't low carbed before the results are often spectacularly incredible!

But even for those of us who are more used to low carbing, hopefully this first week has seen you make a good start.

It's looking like some warmer weather is heading our way, which always makes things seem more positive - but also focuses our minds on things like skimpier clothing, so hopefully will help to keep us toeing the line!

I hope the scales have rewarded your hard work, and here's to a good week ahead Flowers

@cheeseisthebest - woohoo!!

Today I have, at various times, been covered in:

  • lamb poo
  • sheep afterbirth
  • Osmo floor oil
  • Fairy Liquid
  • Cuprinol

All very good for appetite suppressing, it turns out, particularly the first two. Just finished a massive bowl of buttered mashed sprouts with bolognese on top and now stuffed.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 22/04/2021 20:39

Congratulations @cheeseisthebest that’s wonderful!

@Angliski have everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

BIWI · 22/04/2021 20:41

@nowlook - I have no idea!

@MrsKoala I've had the Astra Zeneca. After the first one just had a bit of a stiff/sore arm for a few days. Hopefully that's all I'll have this time too.

Hello all. Good day today. Had my 1st vaccine AZ- bit nervous about how I'm going to feel tomorrow.
B- coffee and cream
L- leek and spinach in cream with a sausage from last night
D- tomato, avocado, bacon, egg. And 2 large chunks of Comte.
I feel slimmer and have lost the bloated stomach. Boobs are disappearing. Loving going to bed without trapped windBlush

cheeseisthebest · 22/04/2021 21:14

Thank you. I did briefly cross it end of last bootcamp but didn't stay there.
Not sure who suggested it but am loving the green and blacks dark chocolate mixed with boiling water and cream. Just hits the spot and stops me snacking and stops me craving chocolate.
Really loving all the chat on here especially the ponderings about appetite, etc. Giving food for thought!

Jellycatspyjamas · 22/04/2021 21:19

Very well done @cheeseisthebest.

I’m having a glass of red wine tonight, I’ve been fighting for years - quite literally years - to have health professionals take my concerns about my DDs hearing seriously. Shes adopted and has learning difficulties and I kept being fobbed off by folk saying her speech and processing difficulties were part of her learning difficulties. Turns out she’s always had moderate hearing loss and today we were told she needs surgery which will help restore her hearing.

I feel completely vindicated in being “that mum” and am glad there’s a treatment plan but also furious that it’s taken me fighting for 4 years to get to this point. So I’m having a glass of wine.

Bestbees · 22/04/2021 21:24

@VeryLittleOwl gross! But at least you found the silver lining!

@Jellycatspyjamaswell done you for being that mum. I am a senco and so often I am made aware of the different outcomes for children who don't have parents who are able/want to advocate for them. I hope that the operation brings improvements for her, or at least a better understanding of her needs. WineFlowers

One of my boys fell off a wall today and he smashed his face. Emergency denstis appointment (teeth seem fine) but now worried about a cut so at A&E with dh. I am tempted by wine but staying strong.

cheeseisthebest · 22/04/2021 21:29

Well done jellycat, I work in adoption, so glad you eventually got the diagnosis you'd been fighting for.

colouringindoors · 22/04/2021 22:21

Have had a shitty day. Long awaited meeting with ds' school was cancelled by them. Just drafted letter to Head, they are totally failing him. Had 4 squares of the 90% choc. Not too bad considering.

colouringindoors · 22/04/2021 22:23

bestbees oh no that sounds grim! Hope he's ok (and you!)

cheese glad you like it 😁

colouringindoors · 22/04/2021 22:25

jellycats well done for getting your dd what she needs. You rock.

cheeseisthebest · 22/04/2021 22:26

Ah was it your suggestion. Its lovely

Tickledtrout · 22/04/2021 22:59

Water has been off here since mid afternoon. Sent DH for bottles so I could get my final litre of the day. Obsessive?

NigellaAwesome · 22/04/2021 23:47

Hello all, just sloping in at the back. I signed up for last bootcamp, and didn't get going at all. Life has been stressful recently and for the last 3 years and I fell into a pity party that involved bread, traybakes, and fuck loads of wine. I took myself in hand at the weekend, and have already lost almost 2kg, but that is in the context of putting on 12kg since November 2020. Shock

I'm so glad that I looked and discovered that you have just started a new bootcamp - I hope you don't mind me joining, and I will try my best not to be flakey. I had a very quick scan of the thread and it is really heartening to see so many names that I recognise.

Flowers to those who are finding life tough at the moment.

colouringindoors · 22/04/2021 23:53

Hi Nigella your last 3 years sound a lot like mine - sympathies 💐 well done on the 2kg. I maxxed out on cake, chocolate and wine... 1 and a half stone to go... good luck with your bootcamp!

Covid10lbs · 23/04/2021 01:34

I'm with you Nigella.
I couldn't get in the zone for Jan Bootcamp - too much dark weather & bad news. Somehow, I have the headspace for it now. And after picking my new name, it was qickly going to be Covid14lbs.

B. Omlette, feta & spinach.
L. Greek yogurt
D. Lamb & greens (Giant portions of both).
Cup of herbal tea and square of 85% chocolate.
I'm getting in the 2 pints of water too!! So go me.
My cooking is not as amitious as most. 3/4 minute boil of broccoli, french beans, mange tout (1 pot), with some rolled shoulder roasted. Butcher had stuffed it but I left the breadcrumbs on the chopping board - they never even saw my plate. Dressing of olive oil & roasting juices. It was yummy, and there are leftovers.

I'm really taking this BC day by day. The thought of 10 weks is overwhelming, but one day is fine Hmm
Night all

ListenLinda · 23/04/2021 04:55

Yesterday was a weird day in that probably due to Bootcamp and my lovely cold, i didnt start to feel hungry until 12ish. And there wasn’t much in so just had some greek yog.
4 litres of water down and made bolognese for tea. Pasta & garlic bread on the side for the other three, spiralised courgette for me, which was leftover from my salmon stir fry on Tuesday.
I was also in the zone work wise yesterday and got loads done which is when I realised I had barely eaten because i wasnt hungry enough to be distracted. And it’s set me up really well for today which always helps my mood.
You know when sometimes things just feel overwhelming, and you don’t know where to start? Yesterday helped me feel like I was taking control of everything!

debka · 23/04/2021 07:20

Good morning everyone.
Super anxious today and I have to speak to my practice manager about handing in my notice: it's going to be very awkward. I'll be glad to get it over and done with, hopefully I'll be able to relax at the weekend having done it.
B- eggs and butter
L- Greek yogurt with cream and walnuts
D- DP is sorting, so probably steak and salad. We bought a cast iron griddle pan which makes THE BEST steak
Hope everyone's Friday goes well!

MrsBertBibby · 23/04/2021 07:23

Argh I absentmindedly took a big old swig of the boy's apple juice this morning. Pure absentmindedness. Dammit!

Morning all. I have some low carb veggie things to sample but I still need a decent fridge grazing alternative to cheese.

Bestbees · 23/04/2021 07:24

@debka hope it goes well.

Boys face did not require stitches but we all had a very late night. Then woken at 5.y th other one having a nose bleed! I ended up eating way too much low carb stuff last night.

New day
L green soup and some garlic sausage
D courgette and tomato gratin with salad

Squeeze a run in. Fall asleep on the sofa....

Have a good day everyone!

MrsBertBibby · 23/04/2021 07:27

Good luck Debka. Please don't turn out to be one of my team, I've lost 3 since January and recruitment is a bastard.

Pleaseandthankyou · 23/04/2021 07:29

Arundle Castle is on BBC breakfast this morning. Now we can all see the tulips. Welcome back @NigellaAwesome. I have been hoping you were ok.
I am weighing in of Fridays. Last week I lost 3lbs. I had a planned off plan Sunday lunch. I didn’t go mad. A tiny roast potato , small parsnip and a couple of spoonfuls of dessert. Had the best part of a bottle of wine. 2lbs straight on again. It has taken all week of being really strict to lose them.
I put my 34 G Bravissimo bra on yesterday and realised that I am rattling about in it. I am not sure how I have gone to that from overspilling without noticing. I definitely think the bmi calculation should have a correction for those of us who are well endowed in that department.

debka · 23/04/2021 07:50

@MrsBertBibby I just had a panic in case someone from work is on this thread and sees my post! Recruitment is a bastard, I absolutely see that, and I feel bloody dreadful for jumping ship, but they just aren't supporting my training and I have no faith in them to improve :(

Jellycatspyjamas · 23/04/2021 08:07

Good luck @debka I hope it’s easier than you anticipate.

You’ve definitely earned that nap @Bestbees.

I’m getting a dishwasher delivered this morning or old one died before Christmas and has confounded all attempts to repair. I’m ridiculously excited about it! Nit worked out food for today yet.

BestIsWest · 23/04/2021 08:07

Morning all, it’s a gorgeous day here.

Nigella my weight gain has been pretty much the same - I’m guessing because I don’t have scales but I’m just going by what fits and doesn’t.

Good luck Debka, are you going on to a new job?
