The final weigh-in thread: March 2021 Low Carb Bootcamp

Here's the spreadsheet

I think this has been a really fantastic Bootcamp. Lots of really great losses.

As well as that, though, like every Bootcamp I'm always amazed and often humbled by how much we get to know people. We may all be here because we're trying to lose weight, but there's so much more going on in people's lives.

Tomorrow is the final weigh-in, but I hope very much that people will continue to check in and update us all on 'their journey' (sorry for the cliché)

Yup. Ground almonds ShockBlush

My only defence is a brain fart Confused

Fortunately no harm was done on this occasion - and she does carry an epipen just in case, which she didn't need to use on this time Blush again

cheeseisthebest · 05/04/2021 22:21

All good then!

cheeseisthebest · 05/04/2021 22:28

Don't beat yourself up. Flowers

FusionChefGeoff · 05/04/2021 22:42

Woah @prettybird good lesson learnt there!

I know we're supposed to make from scratch and I do a lot but I've got a couple of these annoying me in the cupboard.

Is there anything I can do to use them in a less carby way?? I'm thinking either use unsweetened almond milk or a double cream and water mix??

Food bank Wink

FusionChefGeoff · 05/04/2021 22:47

Ah ok then! I was hoping they might be OK for an emergency if out of cream for my cheating lemony sauce.

cheeseisthebest · 05/04/2021 23:10

I have stupidly just started a thread about books my daughter has read and is unhappy about and getting all kinds of unpleasant comments. Help!

FusionChefGeoff · 06/04/2021 01:02

You seem to be holding your own @cheeseisthebest and you are getting some good support but I've thrown my tuppence in your hat Smile

MrsOmelette · 06/04/2021 05:23

Omg I am so shattered. Previously, when awful nights are taking their toll I would have had half a packet of biscuits and a cuppa trying to get some energy...now, I’m just so tired. There’s no point eating anything as I’m not actually hungry, so it was a great bad habit to break but I wish there was something else I could try to pep me up. Am drinking a cuppa and a cup of hot lemon water and feeling a little blue.

Bestbees · 06/04/2021 07:46

Morning everyone.
@MrsOmelette sorry your nights are so bad, is it children keeping you up? Well done for not biscuit eating, much harder when you are tired. Can you get a nap in today? If not I find forcing myself up and out at least is distracting from how much I want to sleep. Do you have any essential oils? A good sniff of some lemony/minty smells uplift me too.

@prettybird oops! Thank u goodness she was OK!

@FusionChefGeoff I think, looking at the per portion carbs, that if you made it with almond milk it would be OK. Have it now between bootcamps. Or indeed send it to the food bank.

I saw my sister yesterday, first time in 6 months. She is a gp and very much behind the low carb woe. However as a treat she bought some amazing donuts from a bakery. I ate a couple of delicious mindful mouthfuls. Not perfect, but better than the whole thing, and we did do a long walk.

Plan for today:
Run
L:green buttery soup
D:pork steak, mushroom cream sauce, swede mash and green veg.

Lots of water. Bought some delicious rooibos lemon and ginger tea so imagine a few of those and some black coffees.

VeryLittleOwl · 06/04/2021 08:02

Morning! I've had five days of total carby twatdom with not enough water and gone from 10st 6 to 10st 12 in a week! Downed my first litre already and hoping I can drain at least 4lbs out of the system before we start the next BC on Monday. I suspect the other 2lbs is definitely additional calories rather than water retention. It's been a tough couple of days here weather-wise, we went down to a windchill of -13C yesterday and I fell over a sheep while I was feeding them and went face down full length on a frozen field. But the fridge is stocked with BC-friendly things, I have a cut and colour at lunchtime and I have flights booked to go and stay with my mum for a week for the second week of June, so that's a real incentive to stay on plan! I will be seeing her 10 weeks today and if I can be under 10 stone by then, even if it's only by 0.2lbs, I shall be very happy.

Thank you! Did not expect that reaction!!
FusionChefGeoff · 06/04/2021 08:08

@MrsOmelette can you get out at all for a power walk followed by a blast of a shower?? Lovely music from my youth always helps me perk up.

Although I don't know why I'm preaching - it was crappy nights and reaching for sweet stuff which saw me gain all my weight with DD2.

@Bestbees I am overdue a Brexit / Pandemic / BC friendly stash clear out for the foodbank and was hoping to rope DH into it with me this weekend but he escaped!!! Maybe I will attack it on my own now the weather's turned.

On that thought, I've gradually learnt how to cook most things from scratch so can ditch sauces / packets but the last thing I hung onto (and which all have sugar as the 2nd ingredient Shock) are Aldi pouch Chinese sauces. Chow mein, black bean, ginger and soy.

Can anyone link / post some easy Chinese recipes for me?? Don't mind investing in some ingredients and have access to good Asian supermarkets. Would prefer mainly shelf stable options as shop in Aldi so their 'speciality' fresh ingredients are a bit limited at times.

Morning all!

Very many happy returns prettybird! Hope you have a glorious day with your Othello cake Grin

It's just not worth it fusion, I'm afraid. The milk isn't doing much of the heavy lifting in that carb count.

Sorry about your early start, MrsO. Hope you get a little respite later. Can't Liesel look after Gretel for a while? Wink

Not sure what you were thinking starting a thread at that hour cheeseisthebest. Don't feed the gremlins after midnight. Fwiw, your DD might do well to understand that author's social context (lonely child, all-boys boarding school, two sons). He's probably never met a teenage girl, so it's no surprise he has no inspiration to draw upon. Men don't write women well at the best of times. We're all flawless with upturned noses and breasts Grin

Good day yesterday. No booze Star

ditavonteesed · 06/04/2021 08:14

Morning all, a lovely sunny day after yesterday's snow.
I am very much koko. Weight loss seems to have slowed but I'm teaching myself to be ok with that as I've lost a lot quickly and it couldn't go on like that forever. As long as the numbers area going down I don't mind how long it takes now, I see myself eating this way forever now as I've never felt so well.
I've ordered some more clothes as I'm sick of looking like a tramp. For some reason I decided a size 10 is unattainable which is weird since I've gone from a 20 to a 12/14 in 3 months.

I'm getting slightly concerned that my self esteem is going to get tangled up with people praising my weight loss as it is all anybody says to me anymore, worried when that dries up I'll lose motivation which is very silly because that's not why I did it in the first place. I'm not used to getting attention.

nowlook · 06/04/2021 08:23

Yes dita. When I first lost all my weight (thanks mum), I felt the need to explain/justify that to everyone who commented. Long, tedious explanations of how I did it. Because it was (obvs) people who had known me at a bigger size who commented, it also made me feel like I was visiting the world of the slim, rather than getting full citizenship.

Never got better, but loved meeting new people who didn't have that earlier reference point in their heads. Now, I'm a bit heavier than I want to be and want to avoid those who only knew me as a size 8 🤣

Ninkanink · 06/04/2021 08:26

Sympathy and empathy Flowers Flowers @MrsOmelette I didn’t sleep a wink last night either!

💐💐💐🥂🥂🥂🍰🍰🍰🍷🍷🍷🎉🎉🎉And a very Happy Birthday to @prettybird!! May you have a truly special day today and I hope you’re thoroughly spoilt!

Big changes for us...DH will be handing in his resignation today. He has never not worked since he left university but he’s so tired; he needs to rest for a bit - and he needs to have a bit of a life now instead of just the stress of work, all day long and desperately trying to get over it every weekend. It’s scary, as it’ll be a big drop in income and we don’t have a plan of what will come next, but I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it here but he had several heart attacks late last year. He’s only in his early forties and as far as we knew was/is perfectly healthy and fit so it was a big shock and I don’t want him to work right now if it’s going to make him ill again. Couldn’t sleep at all though as it’s such a big change for us (but the right decision, I feel).

Hope everyone is well today, and feeling positive. 🌻

Dailyhandtowelwash · 06/04/2021 08:41

@Ninkanink good luck to you and DH. That’s a tremendously brave thing to do but I can understand exactly why he’s doing it. Is there no way they might agree to reduced hours to bring the stress of it down at all?

Carby twatness here sees me pretty much back where I was at the start of last boot camp. In 2.5 days of a bit of carbs. Sigh.

Really good though to see the scale and NSV on here. Well done, you lot!
