Low-carb bootcamp

Here's the spreadsheet

I think this has been a really fantastic Bootcamp. Lots of really great losses.

As well as that, though, like every Bootcamp I'm always amazed and often humbled by how much we get to know people. We may all be here because we're trying to lose weight, but there's so much more going on in people's lives.

Tomorrow is the final weigh-in, but I hope very much that people will continue to check in and update us all on 'their journey' (sorry for the cliché)

Ifeelmuchlessfat I've been in maintenance for years and I mostly stick to Bootcamp Light. I don't worry about things like the meat content of burgers or thickeners in gravies and sauces. I will occasionally have medium carb fruits vegetables such as apples or potatoes if I fancy them but they aren't eaten day-to-day. I will very occasionally have a sweet dessert such as the DCs' birthday cakes. However, I'm particularly sensitive to carbs making me hungrier. My DH, on the other hand, can happily have a bacon butty and a beer and get straight back to low carb. There are lots of different ways to do maintenance. Some people choose to reintroduce more fruits and veg, some might have a slice of bread a day or porridge for breakfast. Another approach is to have a weekly or fortnightly high carb meal or day (this can work well for people with low thyroid hormones.) I suppose my style is "relaxed Bootcamp Light."

pinkpinkeverywhere I started Bootcamp overweight in June 2013 and have been a normal BMI since November 2013. The health effects of that alone must be huge, let alone all the other effects such as reducing blood pressure, lowered blood glucose, healthier teeth and gums from not eating sugar, etc. It's definitely a way of eating for life for me. Plus I love the food! It's my birthday next month and I'm going to have pork belly for my birthday dinner. You couldn't have that on Slimming World, in fact your coach would probably explode if you even suggested it!

Well done to everyone on your losses (or maintenance if that's what you're aiming for.)

Not weighing in just yet as I've not done my exercises but placemarking with an NSV: I've managed to get my ruby ring (belonged to my maternal grandmother) on Smile. It was the ring I was wearing when I damaged my knuckle (dislocated it about 7 years ago when running in a panic when ds crashed at the beginning of a cycle race - got it off before the swelling started). I'll need to use the string technique to get it off again - but it's comfortable Smile. If only I'd been more patient about my opal ring (worn on the same finger) rather than getting it resized as then the jeweller wouldn't have damaged destroyed the opal Sad

Thanks @BIWI!

Fortunately, I knew I'd lost a lot, but given I don't have a start number, I'm just guessing based on the fact I'm wearing the next size down comfortably. Quite a lot of denial with stretchy tops and trousers, it seems!

Couldn't have done it without all of you.

Thank you for letting me join the BC. I've lost 11lbs. Fell a bit off plan for the last 2 weeks but going to KOKO and looking forward to the next one. I'm back down to my usual pre lockdown weight so looking forward to dropping a few more lbs next time.

I stayed the same this week but this is my week 4 so to be expected, I’ve lost 8lb so far which I’m happy with I’m also much less bloated so clothes are fitting me better. I’ll keep on between boot camps and be ready to pick up on the 12th. Thanks @BIWI and @StuntNun and everyone who makes this such a supportive experience- it’s so much appreciated.

Morning everyone! 🌷🌷🌷

The wind howling something fierce kept us up all night, but luckily I’d just repotted our plants into bigger, heavier pots so nothing was blown over.

I’ve weighed in at 68.2kg (150.3). I’ve a little more to lose to get to my ideal but the next bootcamp will take care of that! I’m going to stay on light between camps so I don’t lose my momentum (and because this is a long term way of life for me).

It’s been a great bootcamp - Thank you @BIWI, as always, for running it, to @athelstone for the admin and everyone else for each of your unique contributions to making this a lovely group and a bit of a lifeline, I think, for lots of people during this lockdown.

Don’t go away during the weeks between! Stay on the straight and narrow and KOKO!

Morning morning! (It feels terribly early).

Thanks so much @BIWI. This WOE plus the support from the thread have really made my life so much better! (Agrees with @ouchmyfeet ). I'd really lost hope before I joined.

10 & a half pounds off for me, which I'm pleased with. Also, though, I don't miss pasta, rice or potatoes AT ALL, which is huge.

Chocolate, on the other hand, is my kryptonite. Planning to dive head-first into a vat of it on Easter Sunday, then just jitter my way through the withdrawals. #lifegoals.

Thanks for you @AthelstaneTheUnready . Sinus headaches are nasty.

So glad to read of everyone's victories: scale-based or otherwise.

I bought some of the low-carb hot-cross buns, as I had a very strong craving. They taste just like spiced bagels!

I find they need a LOT of butter, which is not a problem, obvs.

Happy BST Monday. For those of you with toddlers, at least it feels like you're up an hour later.

Good morning, so I didn't get my Christmas miracle and have gained 1lb (totally expected, but not as much as I expected- positive).

The brings my grand total to the 1lb loss this bootcamp. It could have been so much more but I'm thinking at least I am still down! At least I'm not 17 Stone 10 again Grin

I've reflected last night and I know chocolate is not worth sabotaging my weight loss and it's definitely not worth sabotaging how great I felt during last bootcamp so will KOKO with a renewed enthusiasm and lots of eggs (not Easter ones) Smile

Morning everyone, I've ended on 148.5lbs which I am so pleased with as I'm now roughly at my "half way mark" with my weight loss. Hoping to keep it going on my own until the next bootcamp starts, my family have been so so supportive so I think it's possible.

I tried on some old clothes out of boredom on Saturday night and so many fit again I was so surprised/delighted. I have my first wedding dress appointments in May and I have been so worried about them, but this bootcamp has given me so much confidence, I'm so happy I found you all!

THANK YOU

@ziggzagg I think i went through a similar reflection about chocolate mid way through this bootcamp, it used to be my kryptonite along with crisps but then I saw some posters talk about treating yourself in different ways and it's worked for me so I'm treating myself to some new scented candles for easter instead of chocolate Grin

Well done to everyone who has done the bootcamp. Hurray for those celebrating big losses and hearty hugs to those who are not.

It's been really great to come along with you all for the last ten weeks.

I'm ending bootcamp about 5lbs lighter than I started it, taking my daily weighing averages into account rather than specific weekly weigh ins. That's taken me below a pesky set point that had been bothering me, and I'm hoping to make my occasional lowest weight my highest weight over the coming weeks. I realised the other day that I'm now sustainably lighter than pretty much any other point of my adult life. I feel no need to take up carbs any time soon other than occasional moments, so no real change from how I'm eating.

Thanks, @BIWI and the other Senior Bootcampers for all your advice and fierce encouragement!

Hi everyone, reposting from the previous thread (thanks @BIWI for flagging). I'm down 4kg/9lbs this boot camp and only started halfway through.
I'm really pleased. I'm not quite back to my ore Christmas weight but hope to be by the next BC! Thanks to the whole BC team for running these. They're a godsend.

Bearing in mind lots of people haven't recorded on the spreadsheet...

... of those who have, we've lost nearly 665lbs between us.

about 47.5 stones

about 5 people.

Not 'in total' - just during this bootcamp. Flowers to you all.

@BIWI probably a stupid question but we're having a last minute Macdonald's for kids as we've had way more fun at our day out at the park than we thought and they're starving!

Is there anything remotely BC friendly or shall I wait until we get home??

Report
nowlook · 29/03/2021 12:40

@FusionChefGeoff- get a plain quarter pounder with cheese but without the bun. Or most burgers without the bun!

Report
nowlook · 29/03/2021 12:45

I think there's even a double quarter with cheese- which will be fine. It's just the tomato ketchup and bun which are carby (which is why I have them plain on emergency work trips). Same with big tasty with bacon- that sauce is bound to be carbtastic Grin

You can always have a salad too. I tend to steer clear of the chicken stuff unless you're like DS2 and peel your chicken nuggets
