The final weigh-in thread: March 2021 Low Carb Bootcamp

Here's the spreadsheet

I think this has been a really fantastic Bootcamp. Lots of really great losses.

As well as that, though, like every Bootcamp I'm always amazed and often humbled by how much we get to know people. We may all be here because we're trying to lose weight, but there's so much more going on in people's lives.

Tomorrow is the final weigh-in, but I hope very much that people will continue to check in and update us all on 'their journey' (sorry for the cliché)

That is the only one I have read, will have a look at the diet trap one.

I have over 4 stone to lose so I need all the help I can get.

Thank you

Oneborneverydecade · 05/04/2021 10:38

Morning @Timetobuckup

I don't think you need to wait till the 12th, everyone will be here anyway if you have questions and it might be good to strike whilst the irons hot.

What supplements did India suggest?

Timetobuckup · 05/04/2021 10:43

multivitamins without iron
Psyllium husk capsules
Chromium
Fish oil
Vit B complex
Vit C
She also taks about coenzyme q10 but I drew the line at that one (I'm not a complete sheep Wink Grin

cheeseisthebest · 05/04/2021 11:09

I have the second India Knight with recipes, must dig it out. Had some nice ideas in there

Oneborneverydecade · 05/04/2021 12:50

Nothing too out there then @Timetobuckup I guess the psyllium husk is to help keep you regular?

Happy birthday for yesterday @ouchmyfeet

ouchmyfeet · 05/04/2021 12:57

@StuntNun

Oh no Ouchmyfeet was the cake that bad? I did wonder as it doesn't have any sugar at all in the recipe. Happy birthday for yesterday.
It might have turned out better if attempted by a more accomplished baker than me, but when I think about it, it tasted as I'd expect chocolate mixed with eggs to taste.

It was very dense, a bit brick like. And not sweet enough to feel like a treat.

venusandmars · 05/04/2021 14:43

There were four adults (plus one additional one briefly) and we drank three bottles of champagne, two bottles of red, bottle of dessert wine, plus port and brandy. Today is a lovely new day! You managed all that and were still able to post in a bright and breezy manner before 10am this morning? Shock Sounds like you had a brilliant time.

Too windy here today for any meeting outdoors for food. Not only would the food be scattered to the four corners, but the tables, chairs, garden ornaments would also be crashing around. We (and our neighbours) have all lost our recycling boxes this morning - the emptied boxes will have vanished into the sea or the surrounding beaches. A bit ironic really that our local beach clean up will be cleaning up the broken plastic recycling boxes Confused.

My next bootcamp will be a focused one (I hope). I'm heading towards a milestone birthday in July (there seem to be a few of us around this age bracket +/- 12 months). I really want to enter that decade as healthy and strong and fit as I can. A few more pounds would see me there. So, like the previous BC, I'm using this week to prep. To run down stocks of anything that's more carby, to organise my freezer (sorting out which foods are for dh and which are for me) and as ever chucking out a few unidentified things that have lost their labels

I'll be getting my water bottles organised so I remember to drink loads. I'll be getting some week 1 meal plans ready. I'll be planning some frequent, gentle exercise. I'll be knowingly navigating 2 'events' during bootcamp. And I might have a completely off plan fish supper mid week, so get it out of my system.

Then from the end of bootcamp until my birthday I will have 4 weeks of consolidation and maintenance.

So, I've committed it to paper (or some kind of cloud net thing). Now I just have to follow through.

www.dr-wills.com/collections/all/products/dr-wills-classic-mayonnaise

Has anyone tried Dr Wills sauces? The mayo appears to be 0.01g carbs

Dailyhandtowelwash · 05/04/2021 15:54

We get Dr Wills. It’s very nice.

FusionChefGeoff · 05/04/2021 16:02

Hi everyone - I'm finally at a 'low' for weight on a weigh day and there's no spreadsheet classic timing!!!

I'm in @Bestbees as I joined towards the end I'm still on BC rules after my (completely delicious) indiscretions yesterday!

I've gone straight back on plan:

Elevenses: hm mackerel pate and cucumber
Lunch: dippy eggs with asparagus and streaky bacon. Cheese coleslaw (hm) as still a bit hungry
Dinner: baked salmon, lemon cream sauce and FLGV

Now we're into socialising outdoors, what have people found works well for picnics please??

I've got some tapas meat and cheese. Add a Greek-ish feta, olives, cucumber, radish, celery salad (loosely based on that lovely recipe below!).

That's probably enough actually but I'm still interested in other ideas Smile

StuntNun · 05/04/2021 16:10

FusionChefGeoff when I was losing weight my lowest weight of the week was always on a Tuesday so I know how you feel! I think the cheeseburger pie is nice for picnics.

BIWI · 05/04/2021 16:25

Those cheese muffins would be nice as well @FusionChefGeoff

Welcome @Timetobuckup! I read that India Knight book years ago but then threw it it the bin when I read she went to a 'health spa and fasted previous to getting the final pics done. Felt a bit cheaty to me.

Happy birthday @ouchmyfeet

Yesterday I had one tiny one egg, it wasn't that nice. I did buy myself some 85% greens and blacks and had 3 squares of that, it was delicious.

Had a big breakfast and a roast for dinner with the keto queen yorkshire puddings. Had a bottle of wine and ended up with my head in the fridge eating brie. I did well th, nothing two majorly off plan.

Wore a coat yesterday that I couldn't button up this time last year, it buttoned up easily. I was really pleased with that .

Not going to weigh myself tomorrow because I feel I won't be happy if I've gained. Going to do a really good week this week, no alcohol and see what next Monday brings .

Attached pic of the coat because I am so happy with myself Grin

Well done Bustle!
(and excellent scarf coordination Grin)

ZiggZagg · 05/04/2021 18:13

That's a lovely coat Grin

I mindfully went off plan the last 3 days and have paid 5lb for the pleasure! As I said after 3 glasses of wine yesterday "I regret nothing"!

Have been extremely motivated today, hoping it lasts, mind over matter I suppose! I can do this and I will!

L was SLCR with fried eggs and mushrooms
D is steak, mushrooms, feta cheese salad

And all the water!

ouchmyfeet · 05/04/2021 18:31

Well done Bustle. Lovely coat and teeny waist!

cheeseisthebest · 05/04/2021 19:52

Love that coat!
Had a lovely day walking with family today. Got some nice things planned for this week just hope the weather stays dry!

Bestbees · 05/04/2021 19:59

Gorgeous coat @BustleInYourHedgerow

I would like to incorporate more veggie/vegan meals into this woe, mostly for environmental reasons. I quite often have veggie lunches (soups, cheese and salad, omelettes) I am having a scan of the veggie thread, but welcome suggestions. Tofu goes down well here so think that in stirfries/Thai curries and maybe in tacos/chilli. Veggie is fairly easy I guess. I can't remember if there are any veggies here?

nowlook · 05/04/2021 20:27

I really like a cauliflower steak from time to time @Bestbees
Just treat it like a normal steak in a hot pan with loads of butter, then finish off in the oven.

Still intend to roast a whole celeriac one day because I can't be arsed to peel the big bastard

ListenLinda · 05/04/2021 20:47

Plonking my butt back in after a few days away. Going to spend the next couple of days getting back into the right mindset. DH luckily gets paid friday so can do a huge low carb stock up ready for Monday.
The easter chocolate is everywhere. The kids got an obscene amount each, it will last for weeks. Just bought DDs birthday cake too...Self control will be key I think!
Had a cream tea yesterday with my mum sister and aunts, havent dared get on the scale yet due to the alcohol but tomorrow im going to have a peek.
Hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend!

prettybird · 05/04/2021 20:55

Had a lovely supper of lamb kebabs (chunks of lamb leg steaks marinaded in olive oil, lemon juice and ras-el-hanout ) and the cucumber, radish & parsley minus the celery salad that nowlook posted Smile

I've made my confectioners custard for my Othello Cake tomorrow and just need to get the cake tins prepared and the ingredients measured out so that they're all ready Smile

My best and oldest friend travelled up to give me from Ayrshire today to give my present. I was the first "friend" she'd seen since last August barring family/her extended household

prettybird · 05/04/2021 21:01

Posted by accident....Blush but at least I didn't lose it Wink

....so we had a good long natter on the patio, moving the chairs around to stay in the sun.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be even colder tomorrow. Sad

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/04/2021 21:11

Had a somewhat Cathy twat couple of days. We've been visiting in-laws to have lunch in their gardens, and whilst my lovely SIL provided loads of lovely low carb high fat things (burgers, sausages, cheese, olives, cauliflower, asparagus wrapped in bacon 😋), my MIL served pizza. I'd known in advance she was going to, and said that was fine, not wanting to be difficult, but asks if we have could have some salad with it, thinking I could fill up on that and maybe just eat the topping of a slice or two of pizza.

Well, the salad turned out to be a few dry slices of lettuce and a few cherry tomatoes, and I was hungry, so ended up eating more pizza than I'd intended.

Easter Sunday I have no excuse for, as I was cooking. I did roast leg of lamb, with buttery spinach and leeks. But I also had a roast potato (just one! A small one) and about a spoonful of apple and blackberry crumble with custard. But! I've not had any chocolate, despite being surrounded by the stuff.

Back on it today. I fasted till 1pm, just water and black coffee, then had a small almond roll packed with ham, salami and spinach for lunch, plus some Greek yoghurt with a few raspberries. For dinner I made the leftover lamb into a really delicious curry, if I do say myself, added some green pepper and spinach, and had it with cauliflower rice.

prettybird · 05/04/2021 21:20

I did however try to kill my friend ShockBlush: having deliberately not offered her simnel cake because of of the marzipan in it as she's allergic to nuts, I gave her a slice my Nigella's flourless chocolate-lime cake..... ConfusedShock

Fortunately she's not too allergic and after she was half way through her first slice, she asked me for what it was made of. After proudly saying I'd substituted the sugar with erythritol, I then went through the other ingredients.....Blush

cheeseisthebest · 05/04/2021 22:10

Oh no prettybird what's it got in it? Almonds?

Huge happy birthday for tomorrow, really hope you get to see some friends xx
