Low-carb bootcamp

The final weigh-in thread: March 2021 Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 28/03/2021 23:52

Here's the spreadsheet

I think this has been a really fantastic Bootcamp. Lots of really great losses.

As well as that, though, like every Bootcamp I'm always amazed and often humbled by how much we get to know people. We may all be here because we're trying to lose weight, but there's so much more going on in people's lives.

Tomorrow is the final weigh-in, but I hope very much that people will continue to check in and update us all on 'their journey' (sorry for the cliché)

@AthelstaneTheUnready

It's the new Government slogan:

"Stop drinking and smoking! Become a miserable, lardy, grey'ish looking cougher for 4 months!"

GrinGrinGrinYou're selling it GrinGrin Bugger, life REALLY isn't fair!

@AthelstaneTheUnready I used to post on a not-drinking thread, and there was an effect referred to as "having a bit of a boing... " when you wake up one day and just feel bright and energetic and good. Hope something similar happens for you, and soon Grin

Yeah, apparently weight loss from stopping alcohol doesn't kick in for most people for many months after stopping Angry.

And the liver can take up to four months to start really kicking back into gear (helping the skin).

And the dopamine can take up to three months, and stopping smoking increases weight gain (from effect on metabolism not overeating) for a few months...

So basically, I'm a bit fucked for happiness, energy, weight and glow for the next few months.

But then it should improve, and it may start earlier than that. What it won't do, is improve in any way whatsoever if I start drinking and smoking again.

I stopped alcohol in January. Didn't lose weight. And didn't "glow" Hmm

@BrassicaBabe

Also *@AthelstaneTheUnready* "This, however, does, and has an end point in the near future." Sorry you are also feeling low. Glad there's an end point in the near future. I'm out of touch with what's going on. But hope that's a positive thing on the horizon for you Thanks It's been a tough year on top of "normal" tough stuff hasn't if

(Between HRT, anti-ds and ADHD meds you'd think at least one of them would make me invincible wouldn't you Hmm)

@BrassicaBabe, there's been stuff, yes, lost a couple of members of the family, but I was referring to quitting the alcohol there.

a) I'd got to the point of feeling permanently distraught, and all my reading said alcohol would be a big factor in that.

b) So I stopped drinking and felt absolutely hopeless, and all my reading said alcohol would be a big factor in that... Grin

But whereas a) would have been perpetual, b) has an end point. At some point fairly soon my brain will pick up production of it's own dopamine, and I will begin to feel better.

I wasn't a massive drinker - up to half a bottle a night, four nights a week, and not every week either - but over time it was enough to trash my brain chemistry and my skin she said very vainly

Sorry @venusandmarsand @BIWI I meant couch to 5k.

Well done @BrassicaBabe on your 10 kilometre run, thats fantastic.

I went for a 5 kilometre run after work this morning, walked for half of it because I was tired but I did it and feel better for it.

B: scrambled eggs, mushrooms and way too much bacon. Like 6 slices I was ravenous.

D: pork, roast cauliflower, tenderstem broccoli with lots of butter.

2 cups of tea with cream.
2 squares 85% green and blacks.
Not enough sleep or water. Will catch up on water tonight in work. Will catch up on sleep tomorrow.
Period due feel like crap bleurrgh hopefully doesn't affect weigh in tomorrow.

@BrassicaBabe

Right. I'm on it for tomorrow. Motivated and ready to go.

*@AthelstaneTheUnready* I'm ready to tackle the wine thing!! x

Ran a 10K yesterday. Best run of the year I think.

It's completely fucked that I get drawn into a cycle of stress and low mood which impacts sodding evening (work, running, diet etc). Then because work/running/diet go badly I get more depressed and stressed. Thinking I'm probably not alone in that one. But wish the cycle would feck off!

Onwards to tomorrow. Main aim of tomorrow is WATER.

Hooray!!! Grin

Still head down here waiting for mood to improve BUT I know it will, whereas previously, as you say, the cycle... goes nowhere. This, however, does, and has an end point in the near future.

Lovely seasonal snow here atm - just about to head off to do my volunteer/delivery thing, which means there may be a bit less time on doorsteps chatting. Chatting time is never curtailed when it's raining on me on the other side of their doorstep, but if it's cold on their side of the doorstep, things get cut short Grin

Well done Brassica and good luck for tomorrow. You've got us all backing you so if you're feeling low then come and tell us on the thread. Chances are you're not alone so you posting could well help someone else as well. I'm muscling my way through a workout I really don't want to do today but I know I'll feel better for it when I'm done.

Went shopping yesterday and got all my low carb necessities in.
Can’t wait to be back strict, I really am terrible otherwise.
I mean my meals are fine, I aren’t having bread potatoes etc with meals but the kids easter eggs are about and the odd chocolate digestive here and there. But when i’m on bootcamp I can just leave them and it doesn’t bother me. Definately psychological.
I haven’t weighed since last weigh in of BC so tomorrow will be interesting.

Ooh I was posting on the other thread and missing lots of you lot, just realised you were here!

Cathy twat was round mine last night. She forced me to eat lots of wasabi peas and milk chocolate. Dh made me gin and tonics so strong I nearly passed out! Feeling rough this morning with hangover and grumbly tum and up 2lb. I wanted to be really good this last week but I haven't! Never mind. Plan for this week is to stop the chocolate sneaking in. I have found it easy to stay away from the bread/pasta/rice potatoes but the booze and choc in the evening has been calling!

Echoing all the thanks to this.wonderful group. Grin

Well done @BIWI you are cracking on with the 5k.

@AthelstaneTheUnready well done on giving up the first! The best thing I ever did for myself was stop smoking.

I can finally go to the beach from Monday because our 5k restriction will be lifted so I am tempted to go for a dip next Friday when the children are in school! Can't wait.

Ate a lot yesterday but noting off plan. Fathead pizza and two of those muffin things.

Same today.

B: muffin with butter, chicken breast with cream cheese.

L: Cup of tea, muffin with butter

D: Chicken break stuffed with mozzarella and wrapped with bacon, roast asparagus, salad with cucumber and homemade slaw.

2 small squares of green and blacks 85%

No alcohol this weekend (I'm not a saint, just working nights and don't fancy a drink in the morningWink)

Work colleague told me I lost weight, whoop!
