Morning all. Sorry for the late start to the thread, but I slept in. Then hungry cats had to be fed before I could deal with this!

Anyway here's the spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

Hopefully all good news to report - but never fear, if last week hasn't been great, you still have a few days left to sort that.

Looks like it's going to be a more settled week weather-wise, and hopefully we really will be seeing more and more signs of spring to cheer us all up.

Here's to a great last week Flowers

@Pleaseandthankyou

I’m on day 3 of yoga with Adrienne. I got waylaid with work. I am so glad I am doing this at home with no one watching. I have all the grace of a baby elephant. To be fair most of it is just breathing so far which is very relaxing. Maybe by day 30 I will be moving like a gymnast.
Breathing is good. I look forward to your gymnast moves. I keep wanting to do this as well so your post has given me a prod. KOKO.

And... WATER FOR EVERYONE!!!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 23/03/2021 20:36

@StuntNun I just don't feel like I am mentally ready to start physical training yet, I'm really in the zone with the eating plan but I don't have the space in my brain for another commitment at the moment. It will come. I do feel it will be easier when I'm not so heavy.

NSV a colleague commented on my weight loss earlier, so it's actually noticeable apparently. I haven't noticed it much as I was deluding myself about how much I'd gained. I spent most of the last year wearing stretchy work trousers and scrub tops, or pyjamas/jogging bottoms, I haven't fit into my uniform since the beginning of last summer! First goal is to get back into that. Then to need a size smaller (which I had when I first started my job 18 months ago and was a little tight then).

Breakfast - creamy coffee. Greek yoghurt.
Lunch - SLC roll, salad, cheese, butter, mayo.
Dinner - coconut chicken curry with spinach.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/03/2021 20:39

Oh lord @Pleaseandthankyou I went to a yoga evening class , and I couldn’t breathe the way in and out the instructor wanted me too.
Instead of it being nice and calm and stretchy and relaxing it was the most stressful thing
I only went once

Having a good week so far , though I’m peckish now
Will top up on the Water Water WATER and hope that helps

nowlook · 23/03/2021 21:17

Evening all! Still painting here as new carpet arrives on Thursday. It's quite fraught with the deadline- Anneka Rice has never seen anything like it.

Briefest of updates on Chicken Turmeric ready meal from Low Carb Foot Company:

Shit and contained sweetcorn Confused

Back later!

StuntNun · 23/03/2021 21:20

That makes sense Ragz. I'm planning to start a new workout but I keep putting it off saying I need to make sure I have the right equipment etc. There's no point ploughing ahead and then failing because you weren't ready or in the right headspace. How lovely to get a comment from your colleague. It's nice to know that people can see a clear difference, isn't it?

Good luck with your painting deadline Nowlook. It will all be worth it in the end.

venusandmars · 23/03/2021 22:59

Hmm... Quite annoyed. I made a lovely delicious broccoli cheese ham shallot mushroom omelette. Ate half and was planning the rest for tomorrow. Damn dh ate it Shock

There was so much else that he could have eaten - toast, lentil soup, lasagne... but no! He ate my food.

Grrrrr.... Harrumph.

I need to rejoin asap .

ListenLinda · 24/03/2021 06:47

Oh god I have woken up aching all over from gardening yesterday, which included on my hands and knees weeding the badly bloody laid paving in the back garden.
Just me and the kids most of the day today, planning on salmon for tea.
Don’t want sausages or salad for lunch, as had that yesterday. There is not much else in though...

nowlook · 24/03/2021 07:17

Can you refashion the sausage meat into a burger patty @ListenLinda?
(Then ideally top with plastic cheese and egg like a McMuffin- I've woken up hungry Grin)

Mimosa1 · 24/03/2021 07:41

Stuntnun and PrettyBird, what is a Bridie??

Did a long bike ride yesterday - on an electric bike so cheating a bit - but it was so lovely to be out in the sun moving my body. I'm normally too nervous to cycle in the city but it was a plus of few crowds. I had to skip lunch due to funny work scheduling and while I'd normally be starving, I was fine to wait to have dinner when I got home. I can't overstate how unusual this is for me!

I've just bought myself a gorgeous red suit, but the trousers are tiny even though it's my normal size. They only come in 1 size bigger so I've ordered them, but I've decided I'm not going to keep them "to get into one day" if they still don't fit. There will be beautiful clothes in the shops next season too and I want to feel good now (partly inspired by stuntnun's post !)

prettybird · 24/03/2021 08:05

Mimosa - it's a meat pastry, a bit like a small Cornish Pastie but minus the potato, or like a semi-circular Gregg's sausage roll Grin

Howdidthathappen1 · 24/03/2021 08:41

I had a lightbulb moment! Bit slow on the uptake obvs!
I've moaned several times about not feeling any appetite reduction and not losing any weight - 2lb entire bootcamp- however yesterday I tried 16:8

I always thought I woke up starving and had massive breakfasts however turns out I was thirsty!! Managed til 11.30am yesterday on herbal tea and felt fine! Honestly feel like bit of a many idiot and am now ready for a fresh start!!

Ninkanink · 24/03/2021 08:49

👍👍

That is a very good point. Many, many people get confused between hunger and thirst.

Some people feel better having had breakfast, but I’ve always felt much better not having it. It makes it much easier for me to regulate my eating for the rest of day, maybe because I don’t have to get up and think about food straightaway, and it also means I have less opportunity in the day to have just that little bit too much to eat.

However on the days where I do fancy it I will definitely have it.

I rarely eat before 1 or 2 pm now and that works really well for me. It’s not about deprivation, it’s not even about officially fasting, because I don’t do that, it’s just about not having to have breakfast if I don’t actually want it.

Ninkanink · 24/03/2021 08:57

Oh I weighed in at 68.8 (151.6) today. Please would someone add that to the spreadsheet? Thank you! 🌷

prettybird · 24/03/2021 08:58

Grrrr - just wrote a post that MN ate Angry

That's good news Howdidthathappen1 As Shag reminds us so often, water, water, water Grin

I know I often eat out of habit/boredom rather than hunger Blush I know that because I can do extended fasts easily Confused

In other good news, Lidl has started doing an authentic Greek yoghurt again, with 10% fat, after replacing their popular and good big tub of Greek yoghurt a few months ago with Greek style yoghurt at only 5% fat. I've just had a lovely bowl with some cinnamon to break my extended fast Smile

NB: make sure to get the authentic from Greece yoghurt and not the inferior Greek style stuff.

StuntNun · 24/03/2021 09:02

Mimosa a bridie is a meat pastie only eaten when drunk. Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/03/2021 09:30

@Howdidthathappen1 I found the same , always thought I was hungry ( and wanted toast )
I now take glass of water upstairs when I go to bed , and sometimes wake and drink it in the night
Otherwise , I make myself drink 3 glasses of water ( approx 1 litre ) before 9am , works out as one glass of water to each mug of instant coffee
It’s easy , as when you’re standing by the tap filling the kettle , get into the habit , and fill the glass at the same time
Slightly awash now , but ready to get on with the rest of the day 💧☕️

@FusionChefGeoff

Can I ask a question about falling off the wagon and weight gain??? I don't intend on doing it but I'm interested in learning more about the potential consequences / risk vs reward.

So, pre BC, I had a varied but carb heavy diet that included lots of low cal fillers and veg / lentils / lean protein. I would make bad decisions regularly about chocolate / hot cross buns / snacks / biscuits etc. but due to high activity levels and the general content of my meals (plus IF and the fact I am tee total) generally meant I would have to make bad decisions consistently for a while (say a couple of weeks) before there was a change in weight / figure.

But it sounds like due to the science (?) of this WOE a single meal / 'Cathy Twat' moment (eg. a salted caramel and chocolate hot cross bun...) could result in direct gain pretty much immediately?? Is that right or have I misunderstood?

This is all with the caveat that I am genuinely slowly moving away from seeing carb heavy foods as 'treats' but it's a work in progress so I cannot guarantee that hormones / stress won't invite Cathy in one day Wink

@FusionChefGeoff

What happens if you eat a lot/too much carbohydrate is that you re-fill your glycogen stores, in your liver and your muscles. This is where the excess 'energy' goes - i.e. energy that you can't immediately use from the carbs. Once those stores are full (massive simplification!) then any more gets laid down as fat.

So the immediate weight gain that you might see is not going to be fat - at least not yet!

This is a why a 'one-off' might show a sudden gain on the scales, but can also be easily got rid of, if you're super strict afterwards and also if you increase your energy expenditure - i.e. exercise/more exercise.

It's when you have a continued increase in carbs that it's really likely to impact on your weight.

This is why we talk a lot about mindful eating here. It's fine to have the odd carby treat, but just don't allow that to become a regular thing. (And obviously, with The Big Stick in mind, we shouldn't be allowing those treats in Bootcamp if at all possible!)

FusionChefGeoff · 24/03/2021 09:54

@BIWI thank you!! I was starting to worry that I would be stuck in a binary you're on on you're off which wouldn't be sustainable and I would like this to be a permanent change so that's reassuring that if I was out and had to adapt eg at someone else's house then it wouldn't be a complete disaster!

As you know I'm big into running so very happy to use that to immediately empty the stores again Grin

BIWI · 24/03/2021 10:32

The difficult part about maintenance @FusionChefGeoff is working out just how much carbohydrate you can tolerate, because it's different for everyone.

The only way to find out is to experiment - gradually add more carby things in to your daily menus and see what happens. Keep a firm eye on the scales/your clothes/your measurements during this time. (And don't start by adding pasta/rice/bread, but start with 'better' carbs like pulses/lentils and carbier veg).

Jellycatspyjamas · 24/03/2021 10:33

I also find that when I’m properly adapted to this way of eating (usually takes about 7/8 weeks for me) I can have the odd carby thing and it doesn’t impact me. The danger for me though is that one slice of toast leads to a piece of cake, a bag of chips etc etc and before I know it I’m back on the carbs.

Bestbees · 24/03/2021 10:45

Advice needed: I had managed to get a last minute vaccine appointment at 5pm. Had planned a fd so nothing until 6. Should I eat before?

ShagMeRiggins · 24/03/2021 10:53

Nink I added your weight to spreadsheet.

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/03/2021 10:56

@Bestbees I would ( no scientific knowledge )
