Week 5 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the first half

BIWI · 09/11/2020 02:37

Morning all Flowers

This week sees the end of the first half of Bootcamp. The last two weeks may have been tough going, as you might have seen weight loss slow or even stop.

But this has been an important transition period, as your body has been switching from burning carbs for fuel, to burning fat. So from now on, the weight loss you will see will be entirely fat. And hopefully from week 5, you should see the scales showing a weekly loss too!

By now, hopefully, you have also have become a bit more accustomed to low carb eating, so that it's becoming a bit more of a habit. Once things are habitual, it's a lot easier to stick with things, as they're more routine.

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet for this week's 'confession'!

Checking in (to keep my place Grin) I have lost 5lbs this week yay me!! That's 1stone over bootcamp!!
Really given me the motivation for this week! Good luck to everyone weighing in today Smile

Lyrata · 09/11/2020 07:36

I’ve been a bit quiet for the last week. I slipped on Sunday and Wednesday and as a result have stayed the same.

However to focus on the positives:

  1. I only slipped in a social setting, I didn’t do it alone (which is where a lot of my bad good behaviour occurs)
  2. I didn’t enjoy the sweet stuff or feel the need to eat it after the night was over
  3. I got back on the low carb horse on the days in-between and after rather than entering ‘fuck it’ mode (again my normal behaviour if I break a diet)
  4. I was brave enough to weigh today and while it wasn’t great, I hadn’t whizzed back up to my start weight which I often fear and fuels ‘fuck it.’
  5. I won’t be socialising again for some time so little risk of it repeating

Yay new thread! Will weigh in once dh is up to take over with the kids, it's looking good though.

itsmeagainagain · 09/11/2020 07:40

Wow @ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh that flipping brilliant well done you!! 👏
2lbs off for me happy with that

poorbuthappy · 09/11/2020 07:41

Morning all
My 2lb gain from last week is now this week's 2lb loss.

Determined to get a 10 on the scales next week.

KOKO everyone!

Superspecs · 09/11/2020 07:43

I've lost the 2lb that I gained last week, so all good in the grand scheme. Well done everyone on your losses and stay strong if you didn't lose.

CowGurl · 09/11/2020 07:58

Thanks for the new thread, BIWI.

Lost 3 pounds this week, so that's the 1.5 that I put on last week and an extra 1.5. 9 lb in total. Am now under 14 stone. Chuffed with that Smile.

Feeling quite settled with this WOE. The biggest change last week is the water. I am guzzling a litre as soon as wake up and try and have 3 litres drunk by about 3pm as it seems more difficult to drink lots in the late afternoon / evening.

Well done everyone for still being here! Amazing to think that we are nearly halfway through.

Sunseed · 09/11/2020 08:04

After wobbling a bit in weeks 2 & 3 I tried hard to stick to Bootcamp proper for week 4 and am thrilled with a whoosh losing 5lb! But I know that I mustn't get complacent and be tempted to ease off a little or it will all be undone.....

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 09/11/2020 08:08

Good morning all.
Am down 1pound, which is a relief. Best of luck to those yet to weigh in Flowers

Pleaseandthankyou · 09/11/2020 08:14

Stayed the same this week. That’s two weeks in a row. I have a challenging week ahead as out of my normal routine. One good thing, I have really reduced my alcohol intake. Two glasses of very good red wine last week. It does help that restaurants are closed. Opportunities for socialising are zero unfortunately.

Mimosa1 · 09/11/2020 08:17

100g up for me this week or 300g total over the last 2 weeks. I haven't been perfect - lack of water and carbier veg and fruit creeping in - so I'm going to make a concerted effort to post every day, as I find it really helps with accountability. Good luck all with your weigh-ins!

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 09/11/2020 08:30

Morning all

Well done to those of you who lose this week. After some appalling behaviour week before last I got back on track and can now announce... drum roll please.... I’m 80 -something kilos again🎉🎉🎉

Ok so it’s literally 89.9, but I haven’t weighed that since my daughter was in year one and I was going to the gym five days a week, and she’s now in year ten and I walk my dog and do some yoga. Really pleased, for my health if nothing else.

I’m 55, and so wish I’d discovered this WOE in my youth when I spent so much time and effort trying to lose weight. To those of you in your 30s and 40s who may get discouraged by not seeing a loss one week, or two, or even three or four, try and see the bigger picture and give your bodies the chance to adjust to this. It will come, and when it does you won’t then be as saggy as I am at 55 Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 09/11/2020 08:31

I've been AWOL a the last few weeks , we have had DS and his GF staying ( they've been working ) we have been eating together ... eating more ... stopping for coffee and biscuits .. firebreak here in Wales, so couldn't go anywhere ( and there's only so many times I fancy a drizzly walk round the block , although we did manage 4 nice walks in sunshine , one slightly drizzly and one dramatic rescue when DS drove to fetch us as it hammered down ! )
I know , excuses , excuses
Obviously, 4lb has been put on ( I'm lucky it wasn't more ! )
I'm starting Bootcamp strict today , and hope for a good loss this week
Will read the last 2 weeks threads for inspiration

gillyweed · 09/11/2020 08:33

I've put on 1.4lbs this week, not entirely unexpected but at some points this week I was 3lbs down so it's a bit gutting. I know I lose weight incredibly slowly so...

Positives are, I'm still on board, on track. I feel thinner, clothes are fitting better. Just got to Koko.

prettybird · 09/11/2020 08:37

Marking my place as I'm going to do my exercises this morning after a week being occupied with decorating in our nice warm house Smile and I will weigh in afterwards.

The wine that I had on Saturday in celebration of the Orange Baby getting his jotters may have had an impact Hmm - but it was worth it Grin

DiscontentedWoman · 09/11/2020 08:39

Lost another bit so pleased with that. Hoping for a whoosh soon Grin

Iamnotacerealkiller · 09/11/2020 08:42

2.5lb off for me. 11.5 lb in total. Pleased with that after 0.5 last week.

VeryLittleOwl · 09/11/2020 08:42

Half a pound gone this morning, despite the quiche yesterday. I've glugged a litre already today and am going to stay away from the scales now until at least Thursday.

BasicMadeira · 09/11/2020 08:51

Yeah, 4.8 loss for me but due to reckon to staying level the previous weeks. Overall going in the right direction. I think like @Lyrata being able to avoid the "fuck it" after a misstep is a huge achievement! Well done to everyone after their losses or even maintaining 5 weeks to the the goal of Christmas but I for one will be sticking with this over Christmas.

Takingontheundead · 09/11/2020 08:59

6lbs up for me after a weekend of nonsense.

Starting again today.

X

Superspecs · 09/11/2020 09:02

I intend to too @basicmadeira, and then into the new year.

I'm loving the supportiveness of this community and the accountability. @biwi with her stick is more effective than any diet club I've attended in person and the woe seems more sustainable too.

I also really appreciate the stories of those who have done it for a long time, or long ago and have maintained.

Superspecs · 09/11/2020 09:03

@ifeelmuchlessfat that's great news and very positive to hear how well this woe works.

Rayna37 · 09/11/2020 09:06

Another 1lb+ up after assorted birthday celebrations for DH over the week, entirely deserved. A sniff under 9 stone currently. Will aim to stay full bootcamp at least until the weekend and get back on track. My interim/half way goal of being consistently below 122.5 is looming this time next week: over three lbs to shift which is entirely doable seeing as this was mainly short term gain; I need to actually stick to bootcamp though!

I will keep on with the water (bit lax at the weekend) and also focus using my zero app to aid overnight fasting which has slipped.

I miss swimming.

MaudesMum · 09/11/2020 09:10

3lb loss for me, which is so surprising I had to stand on the scales several times just to check. And it takes me below 15 stone (just) - woo! I made a lovely venison casserole yesterday and some roast squash & ginger soup, and will be living off those for the next couple of days, along with a shedload of additional veg. I'd very much like to get closer to 14 stone than 15 stone by the end of this bootcamp, so here's hoping...

PurBal · 09/11/2020 09:11

Got my BFP last week so I've decided not to stick to low carb and try to be more balanced. I love the diet though. Good luck everyone.
