Week 5 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the first half

Morning all Flowers

This week sees the end of the first half of Bootcamp. The last two weeks may have been tough going, as you might have seen weight loss slow or even stop.

But this has been an important transition period, as your body has been switching from burning carbs for fuel, to burning fat. So from now on, the weight loss you will see will be entirely fat. And hopefully from week 5, you should see the scales showing a weekly loss too!

By now, hopefully, you have also have become a bit more accustomed to low carb eating, so that it's becoming a bit more of a habit. Once things are habitual, it's a lot easier to stick with things, as they're more routine.

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet for this week's 'confession'!

Ladies, I don’t feel very well 😢 I can’t work out what it is but I suspect it’s in some way related to the diet although I’ve been on it quite happily for 3 months with no problems until recently. I keep nearly passing out and I’m getting stomach pains and nausea. Diarrhoea the other day but it wasn’t a bug - I have IBS and it was like a very bad flare up. But I haven’t had any flares on LCHF apart from when I cheated and ate carbs a couple of times early on. I definitely didn’t go over on carbs before the diarrhoea so it’s not that. I thought it was my salt levels so I’ve taken electrolytes and extra salt yesterday and today. It helped a bit yesterday but today I feel awful and dizzy and nearly passed out again. I’m queasy and not hungry which is it like me - I have a big appetite. Can anyone hazard a guess as to what is wrong?

StuntNun · 15/11/2020 19:04

@Jdhshekr are you sure it's diet related and you aren't sick? It sounds awful.

ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh · 15/11/2020 19:12

@Jdhshekr I had a stomach bug about a week ago, exact same symptoms! The whole office had it, I was so ill. Just keep your fluids up and eat when you can. On a positive note I did lose 5lbs that weekWink

Jdhshekr · 15/11/2020 19:16

I’ve assumed it’s not a stomach bug because I haven’t been sick and only had the diarrhoea for about an hour. I also haven’t been anywhere to pick up a bug so don’t know how I’d have got it. I guess it could be one.

I’d put on 3lbs overnight this morning despite my lack of appetite. I’m assuming that’s from eating more salt yesterday.

oh my goodness @Lyrata and @Takingontheundead jumpsuit goals!!! You two both look fab (before and after). I have one I got on ebay last year that is so ridiculously small but I love it ....might try and unearth it for a photo sesh. Im desperate to see an 11 on the scales tomorrow morning ....Really want to see 11,13....is it morning yet? is it morning yet? is it morning yet?

itsmeagainagain · 15/11/2020 20:17
@itsmeagainagain the butter chicken was made in my ActiFry air fryer using the recipe on the app - not very useful unless you have an ActiFry I'm afraid!
@StuntNun ah ok thanks will find another....it looked really yum

itsmeagainagain · 15/11/2020 20:19

@ponygirlcurtis

Great post StuntNun.

I have felt really unwell since Thursday night, very unlike me. I feel exhausted and my limbs ache and feel heavy and I feel a bit sick. Now my period has also kicked in and I have cramps and a sore stomach. I am not sure how I am going to adult today, I have today's and tomorrow's lunches to make up for us all plus dinner to sort and the thought of food is making me queasy. Envy

@ponygirlcurtis hope you're feeling a bit better x

@plumstone

Hello hello - got back from work trip on Friday and had a cheeky stand of the scales to assess the damage yesterday morning - 1lb on - which I can deal with, food choices were fine it was the booze, couple of glasses wine a night for the last four days and no where near enough water. Hitting it back hard from now till Christmas. today has been:

B - Spinach with olive oil, boiled egg with butter and smoked salmon
L - chicken mayo salad, rocket, celery, avo, and spring onions
D - steak, creamy mushroom sauce and FLGV

So nice to me in my own bed, and eating what I want - love travelling, but two weeks for a work trip is my limit

some good losses, and some great photo inspo!! @VeryLittleOwl I love haggis - its amazing!!
KOKO!!

@plumstone that is impressive.... I bet that pound will be gone by the morning too!

@Jdhshekr oh dear that sounds horrible hope you're ok x not preggers??!!
Jdhshekr · 15/11/2020 20:28

Definitely not pregnant. #lesbian 😉

Solongsugar · 15/11/2020 22:34

If you over indulge substantially, ( huge full plate of Chinese takeaway, can only guess 2000 calories) how long for it to show on scales and fastest way of coming off ?

Oneborneverydecade · 15/11/2020 23:01

@jdhshekr hope you feel better soon

@solongsugar oh no what happened, you were doing so well? I don't have the answers unfortunately but all best for getting back on track.

ponygirlcurtis · 15/11/2020 23:39

Jdhshekr that sounds really similar to how I feel. I am assuming for me it's a bug because I have felt rubbish since Thursday. I skipped dinner tonight as my stomach was too sore. Hope we are both feeling better soon.

I’m sorry you’re feeling rubbish too. Perhaps it is a bug, then? My throat has felt a little bit sore all day as well. I just feel generally crap which has come as a surprise as I’ve felt so much better on this diet than I do usually.

Lyrata that jumpsuit looks fab on you! You can really see the difference with your tiny waist and across the thighs. Well done!

Plumstone welcome back!

I need help. I have had a difficult week. On top of an already very protracted and stressful work issue, Dd tried to kill herself last week, and I am spent. I am constantly swinging between concern and anger. I have allowed alcohol back in (3 times this week) whereas I recognise I need to be an abstainer. Nuts have been featuring more heavily. I also had a food binge last night. Sad

I really don't want to fall off the wagon. I feel so good on this way of eating. I have been awake since about 3am. I suppose I just need to ensure that last night's episode is behind me and drink lots of water today.

ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh · 16/11/2020 07:11

@NigellaAwesome , so sorry to hear that. I hope your DD is ok and is getting the support she needs Thanks

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 16/11/2020 07:14

@NigellaAwesome, I'm so sorry. Don't be too hard on yourself, that's a lot to be dealing with x

Jdhshekr · 16/11/2020 07:21

@NigellaAwesome that is an awful lot to be dealing with. I hope things improve.

prettybird · 16/11/2020 08:29

Place marking before I do my exercises and weigh myself officially Smile Initial look at the scales this morning looked positive Smile

I also need to take a progress picture with my belt as I was able to do it up to its next hole last night of it wasn't comfortable, but I could do it Wink

prettybird · 16/11/2020 08:29

Oops, not the new thread Blush

VeryLittleOwl · 16/11/2020 09:31

NigellaAwesome I hope your daughter's getting the help she needs. Remember to take care of yourself as well Flowers

NigellaAwesome · 16/11/2020 17:09

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. DD is already seeing CAMHs and they are speaking to her every couple of days. We are still in shock, and are slowly finding out about some triggers.

I have spent the day furiously cleaning to distract myself and to make up for my binge last night.

MrsKoala · 16/11/2020 20:23

Oh @NigellaAwesome I’m so sorry, I’ve just caught up. Be kind to yourself. Flowers
