Week 5 - Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the first half

BIWI · 09/11/2020 02:37

Morning all Flowers

This week sees the end of the first half of Bootcamp. The last two weeks may have been tough going, as you might have seen weight loss slow or even stop.

But this has been an important transition period, as your body has been switching from burning carbs for fuel, to burning fat. So from now on, the weight loss you will see will be entirely fat. And hopefully from week 5, you should see the scales showing a weekly loss too!

By now, hopefully, you have also have become a bit more accustomed to low carb eating, so that it's becoming a bit more of a habit. Once things are habitual, it's a lot easier to stick with things, as they're more routine.

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet for this week's 'confession'!

Sorry to hear your news, itsmeagainagain Flowers Wine

DiscontentedWoman · 10/11/2020 11:28

Oh @itsmeagainagain I'm sorry about your news Sad that must be an awful shock

sheepysheep · 10/11/2020 11:33

itsmeagainagain sorry to hear that Flowers

20bloodypumpkins · 10/11/2020 12:01

itsmeagainagain sorry to hear that. Take a little time to let the shock settle, then get active looking for alternatives. Are there other similar opportunities? Do you have transferrable skills? What can you do to reduce costs in the meantime? I bet that there loads of people on here who can give you support.

Best thing to do today is keep away from the crisps / biscuits / booze / whatever you might feel tempted by. Know that you have saved that little bit of money, and saved your bootcamp hard work to date.

Food today:
coffee with cream
L - left over veg curry, broccoli, spinach, fried egg
D - sort of salad nicoise, (tuna, olives, green beans, boiled eggs, and a heap of salad)

I'm +0.4 from yesterday, so trying to keep calm and know that weight fluctuates. Will keep off the scales for a few days.

BurningGubbins · 10/11/2020 12:37

itsmeagainagain so sorry to hear that.

Pleaseandthankyou · 10/11/2020 12:40

@itsmeagainagain that is awful news, especially as it is unexpected. These are really difficult times. Let’s hope better times are ahead.

poorbuthappy · 10/11/2020 14:21

@itsmeagainagain - horrid news.

Rayna37 · 10/11/2020 14:49

I'm not keen on diet/reference/cookbooks in electronic format but The Pioppi Diet by Aseem Malhotra & Donal O'Neill is 99p today on the Kindle Daily Deal which might be of interest. Not BIWIs bootcamp to the letter but a good resource on a LCHF diet for weight loss and general health, including some recipes and simple exercises I think too from memory.

MrsKoala · 10/11/2020 15:40

Oh no itsmeagain, that’s such a shock. Flowers

Rshard · 10/11/2020 16:36

Sorry itsmeagain, that’s rubbish

Excellent shorts progress vertlittleowl

ponygirlcurtis · 10/11/2020 18:07

That's rotten news itsmeagainagain. Flowers for you.

Amazing progress VeryLittleOwl. Just goes to show that it takes the scales a while to catch up sometimes.

Weird unsettling day - DS1 was told yesterday he needs to isolate for 10 days as he has been in contact with a positive case at school. 😭 Now we are all isolating and awaiting test results again as he's had a funny taste in his mouth. Fingers crossed it's negative. 🤞

NotwatchingSpooks · 10/11/2020 18:28

Flowers itsmeagainagain so sorry to hear your news.

I am 1/2 lb down today, fingers crossed that is the 2 week stall negotiated.

I went to bed last night planning today’s food. I’ve really struggled with not snacking over the last few days, have managed not to, but it’s been tricky. Today has been better thank goodness. I wonder if having eggs for lunch helped. I could hear what others had said about prowling the kitchen, so I knew I was not alone in feeling like it and somehow that helped, so thank you for sharing.

Today
B Greek yogurt and tsp double cream, Tsp linwoods flax mix & 2 raspberries
L 2 eggs scrambled in butter, 1/2 avocado
D roast chicken, Pork balls (0.9g carb per 100g), swede & celaric mash, homemade Coleslaw, salad leaves

Water 3 litres

Were you really hungry @NotwatchingSpooks or was it just out of boredom/habit?

If the eggs have helped you today, that would suggest/confirm that you haven't been eating enough/haven't been eating enough fat.

Omg the cauliflower cheese was delicious! Just hoovered it up with roast chicken broccoli and spinach! Yum! Wasn’t even tempted by the rosties I did for DH and kids! Even have some left for tomorrow’s lunch.... lush

ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh · 10/11/2020 19:23

So sorry to hear your news @itsmeagainagain hope you're feeling ok as can be expected and we are all here if you need to vent!!

Knocked this up in 20 minutes after work and it was delicious 😋 chicken kebab, Swede chips (my new favourite) and cucumber.

Itsmeagainagain 💐
This absolute beast of a steak. Sprouts in oil and garlic, leeks and spinach in butter and boursin. 3g carbs in peppercon and this massive steak also done in oil...

NorthOfAmazing · 10/11/2020 19:49

@StuntNun

NorthofAmazing quite a lot of people find that weight loss stops on OMAD so you might be better to stick with two meals a day, perhaps with a short four-hour eating window, i.e. 20:4.
That’s good to know StuntNun thanks , I’ll give it a miss then - would like to lose another stone so best not risk it
NorthOfAmazing · 10/11/2020 19:54

Sorry to hear about your job itsmeagainagain Flowers

IncurablyCurious · 10/11/2020 19:58

Sorry to hear that itsmeagainagain, what rubbish news FlowersFlowersFlowers

I didn't manage to weigh in yesterday; did today and have STS again. I'm going back to doing full bootcamp, especially as I could do with a little loss to keep my motivation going. I had a horrible week last week, and was stress-overeating - even though the food was all bootcamp-safe, it won't have helped with weight loss.

KOKO and water will be my mantra this week!

Lyrata · 10/11/2020 20:39

I’m so sorry @itsmeagainagain - I hope you find another job quickly.

Does anyone know how many carbs are in red cabbage per 100g? It’s not on the spreadsheet and I have one I would quite like to eat. I checked MFP but the counts are quite different - one puts it at 4.1 but the other says 7.4!

My meals are quite samey this week!

I have a large portion of broccoli and Stilton soup which I am having for lunch, and I have a chicken and coconut curry for dinners + roasted vegetables mixed in at the last minute.

GorgeousGoldies · 10/11/2020 20:59

Also sorry to hear your news itsmeagain - I hope you find something soon Flowers

lyrata I looked up red cabbage the other day (made coleslaw with it) and hoped that Sainsbury’s had it right at 3.5g/100g.

I’ve had 2 NSVs this week with friends making lovely comments (even if the damn scales are being stubborn)

Midlifemission · 10/11/2020 21:14

@itsmeagainagain so sorry to hear your news.
I am sure you will need some time to absorb the news and lick your wounds . Redundancy is never easy especially if out of the blue . I know nothing about what you do but just wanted to share my own experience is that the job market is quite busy - I am job
Hunting and my BIL and DH have both landed new jobs in the last month so don’t panic about all the dooms headlines just yet !

@VeryLittleOwl thanks for your progress pics again I love these !

I have had a really good day today loads of veg and have just made a
Low carb fish Pie for the first time .

I also had a rummage in my wardrobe for what I can aspire to fitting in to soon. Lots of it is still two stone away which is a little bit daunting but at least I am heading in the right direction at last instead of the last three plus years all being slowly upward !
Might brave the scales tomorrow ..

poorbuthappy · 10/11/2020 21:22

@BIWI sorry to randomly tag you but can you recommend a scallops recipe pls?
We have some in the freezer which I think we'll have tomorrow for tea

namechange5575 · 10/11/2020 21:27

@Takingontheundead that plate looks amazing. Delicious. I also recommend boiling frozen sprouts, then loosely mashing them with a load of butter. Very tasty and handy.

itsmeagainagain · 10/11/2020 21:27

Thanks so much everyone for all your kind words it means a lot x I’m still on track at least my weight loss is going to plan and it’s something that I can control so I’m not going to throw it all away for a pity party carb fest... fortunately I’m feeling the opposite and not really wanting to eat anything...can’t stop crying 😞. Well done everyone with your progress and interesting meals 😊
