We've reached the end of the Low Carb Bootcamp so how did you do overall? Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet and let us know your plans. Would you like to keep losing weight over the coming week and months? Are you thinking about giving weight maintenance a go? Have you considered introducing intermittent fasting? This thread will continue until the next Bootcamp starts so there will be plenty of support for you.

I think the main mistake I was making was too little fat in the food I was eating.

This is such an important lesson with LCHF.

Yes, the clue is in the name, but it’s preposterous to expect those conditioned by years of ‘FAT is BAD’ to just swan their way into cream, butter, 20% mince, butter/oil fried veg rather than steamed, lean, etc.

You’ve done well BigJonn.

ShagMeRiggins · 10/05/2020 23:03

I’ve sent an email to those interested in virtual Style meet up. Please check your Trash as well.

BIWI · 11/05/2020 07:41

No there will be no wine involved @BrassicaBabe or @SophieRay! That's not quite the definition of 'strict' I was going for Grin

As for exercise @venusandmars ...

AthelstaneTheUnready · 11/05/2020 09:17

oh gawd. no, BIWI, please no.

not exercise.

I went for a walk yesterday. Will that count?

Rayna37 · 11/05/2020 10:28

Think a short sharp shock bootcamp could be just what I need. I have a good half stone to lose now. Have been better avoiding the sweet things than earlier in lockdown but still too many carby items and just had a boozy couple of weeks, so need to be better.

I'm sure I've not been drinking enough water but haven't been using my once beloved Waterlogged app much since it started throwing advertisements at me all the time. Might have to treat myself to the paid for version! Just downed a 500ml glass while making a coffee.

Rayna37 · 11/05/2020 10:42

One lovely thing has been having DSD (19) here with us for lockdown. Mainly because she's so good with DS (2) but also because she's gone from such a picky eater when I first knew her as a pre-teen to one eating almost everything we do, no complaints at low carb dinners and tons of veg, and is making notes for things she can cook when she goes back to uni. She also said the cooking is much better than at her Mum's

I've always taken the stance that everyone generally feeds themselves breakfast and lunch (not the toddlerGrin) so there's bread etc on offer then if anyone wants it, but the whole family has whatever LCHF dinner we're having; no cooking of separate meals, whether the visitors are teens or grandparents.

devoncreamtea · 11/05/2020 11:38

Morning! How lovely that your DSD is a toddler whisperer @Rayna37! Sounds like she has her head screwed on, love the note taking for her uni meals 🤣My eldest daughter is 17 today. She is understandably a bit frustrated not to be seeing her friends today, but she’s planning a Netflix party (whatever that is!!).
I am in the midst of bloody homeschool for the little ones! It’s quite uninspiring...😬 Have to do some work for work later on which I hope to do in relative peace (unlike last time when I got interrupted every 5 seconds and you could hear the kids arguing in the garden..😳).
Today I have planned:
B scrambled eggs avocado nut pancake and kimchi (it was delicious!)
L still quite full so will have salad + cheese or roll up type thing.
D DD wants fajitas so will have filling, sour cream etc but obvs no wrap. Will forgo the birthday cheesecake too!

Doing quite well at dodging sweet stuff, kids and Dh have ice cream quite often for pud and the kids are baking all sorts, but managing to not be tempted. Wouldn’t have been able to resist a few years ago, so pleased with how well I’ve worked on that.
Wine and crisps is another matter though...so far so good!

prettybird · 11/05/2020 11:45

I daren't get on the scales to see the damage! ShockBlush

venusandmars · 11/05/2020 12:11

devon is it pancakes made with avocado and nut, or nut pancakes with a side of avocado, or ordinary pancake topped with avocado and nuts? I'm intrigued and want the recipe...

So I have managed to knock my biscuit craving on the head during the last week, at last. It's not something I've indulged in for several years but dh's wfh snack cupboard felt inexplicably irresistible. Even as I was eating twixes, club biscuits, caramel Wafers etc I was conscious of them being sickly-sweet and not enjoying them, yet still I'd trot off to the cupboard for a rummage. Then I'd forage in the fridge for some cheese or a slurp of cream. High fat, high sugar, NOT a good combination. If I can manage a screen shot at some time I'll share the weight graph Blush

Last week, every time I apprached the fridge or dh's snack cupboard I had a big glass of water instead. And I've got back into my favourite drink for a sunny afternoon in the garden - a small dash of angostura bitters, a dash of orange bitters, lots of ice and soda water. Excellent drink, refreshing and just the right hint of flavour.

B - creamy coffee, boiled eggs
L - avocado and ham salad
D - creamy tarragon chicken with courgettes and spinach

devoncreamtea · 11/05/2020 14:27

@venusandmars soz - that was my poor punctuation! They were nut pancakes made with ground nuts, bit of onion and an egg. DH made them! Think you just stick them all in a bowl and whisk - just asked he said: about 200g of nuts ground up, 3 eggs and an onion. Salt and pepper. Made absolutely tons - like drop scone size. Very nice. I had 2 small ones for tea and 1 leftover one with breakfast. If you fancied you could leave out the onion and serve with berries? Never done it though!
@prettybird hope the scales worry has abated! 🙂

devoncreamtea · 11/05/2020 14:30

@venusandmarsenus - amazing work on the snack avoidance strategy!

BrassicaBabe · 11/05/2020 16:59

Nice one BigJohn

For all my moaning I'm starting to feel ready for something stricter. The super lows aren't hitting me at the moment but I'm still using lockdown as an excuse to drink loooaadds! It has to stop. Last night was half a bottle of wine and 3 double g&ts. Health aside, weight isn't going anywhere if I carry on like that.

So bring on BC. Bring on the stick. Bring on enforced exercise. But me and my pelvic floor aren't skipping for anyone!! Grin

1Wildheartsease · 11/05/2020 17:12

Just discovered pressure-cooker meat sauce - it was really good.

RainySaturday · 12/05/2020 05:44

Yes please BIWI, bootcamp at end of May.
I made myself start back on low carb when I got furloughed 4 weeks ago. I was just piling through chocolate after Easter and could see no end to it. I seem to have lost about 3 kg, so am happy. But full-on bootcamp is what I need now to keep me motivated.
I took off my Fitbit as empty wrists was advised for better handwashing and germ free. Might have to put it back on, I think.

BIWI · 12/05/2020 08:08

@1Wildheartsease - what is pressure-cooker meat sauce?

BIWI · 12/05/2020 09:09

Next Bootcamp starts 27 May

ilovecherries · 12/05/2020 09:39

You know that annoying thing the scales do when they bounce around on a significant marker for what feels like forever. One day, 2 pounds under (yay!), then 1 pound over (argh), then half a pound under followed by 1 pound over etc etc. Well that! I know, be patient, have faith, drink the water, koko etc but please scales, life is a bit shit - just gimme a small break.

ilovecherries · 12/05/2020 09:43

Oh god. I went and put my name on the new bootcamp list without reading the first post!

BIWI · 12/05/2020 10:33
Grin
BrassicaBabe · 12/05/2020 10:51

Signed up. I'm up for those challenges! Haha. Ask me again on the morning on 27th Grin. That gives me time to consider my alcohol consumption

(27th? That's a Wednesday?)

prettybird · 12/05/2020 10:52

....now what I need to do is get back into the Zone enough that I'll be prepared to brave the scales on the 27th Blush

and remain in denial about where I'd got to just now Wink

BIWI · 12/05/2020 10:56

@BrassicaBabe whoops Blush you're quite right! Will have to ask MNHQ to change the title

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/05/2020 11:12

Cunning plan with the numbers, BIWI, for spotting when it's gang agley.

ilovecherries · 12/05/2020 11:27

I will do my best with the challenges and keep an open mind. Calorie counting triggers me a bit so we’ll see how it goes. Also, totally dependent on food delivery from farm shops (DD very vulnerable and no supermarket slots), so it’s a bit ‘take what’s delivered and be grateful’ atm. The veg boxes in particular are a bit root veg heavy. But having said all that, I also know that 12 lbs didn’t magically reappear because of carrot, onion and parsnip consumption and I’m now being ruthless with the real culprits!

devoncreamtea · 12/05/2020 11:41

Yay for boot camp! Thanks @biwi will go and sign up now - taking a deep breath before I read these challenges! But up for a good old try!
