We've reached the end of the Low Carb Bootcamp so how did you do overall? Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet and let us know your plans. Would you like to keep losing weight over the coming week and months? Are you thinking about giving weight maintenance a go? Have you considered introducing intermittent fasting? This thread will continue until the next Bootcamp starts so there will be plenty of support for you.

Couldn't be bothered to make it in the end! Just did regular pizza for the kids and picked at the toppings.

BrassicaBabe · 09/05/2020 07:13

I made pizza in our wood fired oven last night Greebo. Didn't have any. But may have picked at a couple of ends of garlic bread as the wine kicked in Hmm

I'm now sat outside wrapped in my blanket as I've restarted the fire to to make breakfast muffins. Again, won't have any.

I do enjoy LC. It works for me and I plan to stick with it. There is more that I enjoy about it than not. But I do miss the casual Friday night celebratory cooking I used to enjoy. Curry with home made naan or chapatti, pizza etc, pulled pork in big white rolls. I've barely used my pizza oven since 2017 when I started LC. Although I need to master meat cooking in it. Meat tents to be charcoal on the outside and raw inside.

Anyway, everyone is still in bed. The sun is shining. I forgot to weigh myself this morning before I had a drink so I can pretend that last nights cheat bread had no impact. The only noise is the birds. It's not all terrible is it. Smile

devoncreamtea · 09/05/2020 08:37

Sounds idyllic! My kids woke up bickering - no chance of hearing birdsong here!
@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I get it! I’m put off by the hassle - and anyway the toppings are the best bit!
Hope everyone has a good day - looks like nice weather. We will be at the allotment and later the beach to walk the dog. Unless the bickering continues - then everyone (might include myself in this for a nice rest) will be sent to their rooms! 😬
Having bbq later - so easy to stick with plan for bbq! I don’t miss the bread part at all. Infact I only really miss posh bread toast and peanut butter with a cuppa.

Right better sort the vile children out...

The only time I've used Lo-Do was when I was craving pizza. It was good but probably the most expensive pizza ever!

A glorious warm still sunny morning here, and a lovely stroll to the supermarket. Walking home with the shopping is my equivalent of weight training. I have decided that for every £ I don't spend on wine I will use half to buy myself flowers and half to donate food to the local food bank. Gosh, the house is full of the scent of freesias and I'm astonished at how many tins of veg etc I can buy for the price of half a bottle of wine.

B - creamy coffee
L - green vegetable and chicken soup (with butter and cream)
D - avocado and mozerella salad with lots of salad greens.

BrassicaBabe · 09/05/2020 10:56

I agree. Quite like that lo-dough. Slightly ridiculous price though. Wouldn't risk it in the pizza oven. It's so hot I think lo-dough would vaporise! Grin

Managed a run so that 300 calories in the bag! 👍

devoncreamtea · 09/05/2020 11:21

Good work in the running @BrassicaBabe! I’ve been on 2 bike rides this week as kids are into them - and I remembered that I do like cycling! Couldn’t run for gun for tho - I did the diabetes run a marathon in 30 days and it nearly finished me off - I got ‘shin splints’ (is that the right phrase?) and it absolutely killed. Maybe when I’ve got less cargo it will feel easier?!
Tackling washing mountain this morning - hopefully I’ll reach the summit.

devoncreamtea · 09/05/2020 11:21

what is lo-do?

1Wildheartsease · 09/05/2020 12:26

The turnip recipe looks great! (I usually treat celeriac like that but could do with a change.)

I enjoyed the low-carb pizza but it is very rich and a little went a long way.

Trying not to drink wine and eat squares of darkest chocolate every night of the week...

1Wildheartsease · 09/05/2020 12:28

Lo-dough is a base (that can be ordered online) to replace supermarket bread/pizza dough but it is even more bland than the originals and very much more expensive.

ilovecherries · 09/05/2020 13:12

First time since lockdown started that I’ve felt able to do 16:8. I’d been doing it for three years but a few days of carb eating had me back looking for my breakfast every morning. Today I wasn’t hungry so decided to leave breakfast till I was, and by noon when I started to feel peckish, decided that I might as well wait for lunch at 1.30. I’m taking that as a win!

BIWI · 09/05/2020 17:40

Lodough

devoncreamtea · 09/05/2020 17:57

Thanks for link @BIWI - I might give it go. Luckily kids stopped bickering eventually and we did go cycling along the beautiful cycle path by the river. It was like the M6 - everyone had the same idea! But quite refreshing to see so many people out exercising and enjoying the sunshine.
I love the sound of creamy coffee, but not sure I could have it instead of breakfast - I still wake up hungry!
Today I’ve had:
Scrambled eggs, avocado, kimchi (homemade - it’s so spicy - went a bit overboard on chilli!! Wakes me up tho!) Tea
Tuna, cucumber, spring onion and chopped up gherkin in a lettuce ‘wrap’
Tea is bbq - I’ve got some spicy sausage and will have salad.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to see weather turn - might get down to 3 at night. If anyone was thinking of planting new stuff out, might be worth holding back til it gets warmer again - I was going to plant out my squash plants but will wait till next weekend. Flowers

BIWI · 09/05/2020 17:59

I'm girding my loins and working up to the next Bootcamp - thinking of starting it w/c 18 May or 27 May.

devoncreamtea · 09/05/2020 19:51

Amazing! Thank you so much BIWI! 🙂

venusandmars · 10/05/2020 08:52

It's wild and windy out there, this might just be a day for some housework. Every other day I've been too busy lazing in the garden hard at work with gardening in the sunshine.

Food today:
Brunch - creamy coffee, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with buttery fried mushrooms
D - slow cooked lamb shanks, ratatouille, loads of spinach

BrassicaBabe · 10/05/2020 09:12

Wow. It's horrible out there today.

I'm not surprised you had shin splints Devon if you went from zero to running everyday for a month. Poor you. Check out "couch to 5k" for a more gradual start? My running mojo comes and goes. Last year I was training for a half marathon and got to about 17km. At the moment I can't manage more than about 6km.

BrassicaBabe · 10/05/2020 09:14

Hmm. New BC. That's quite a terrifying thought. But that's plenty of time for us to work on getting to the right mindset I think.

BigJonn · 10/05/2020 10:03

18th May would be awesome, some thing to attach back onto :-)

BIWI · 10/05/2020 10:32

I think I'm going for 27 May now - a bit more time to prepare, and I have something up my sleeve that I need to work on first ...

Glittercandle · 10/05/2020 10:40

I’ve not stuck to low carb for the past few days - a mixture of running out of food, feeling too lazy to cook different meals and also decorating and just grabbing what’s easy. I’m very relieved to hear bootcamp May be starting again soon - much needed here!!

BrassicaBabe · 10/05/2020 11:08

If there would be an upside to this lockdown it's that we would go on holiday around 27th May for half term. I'm not even back to my pre Christmas weight yet and we we went on holiday that would be another 8lbs on.

Every cloud eh

How you you getting on @BigJonn?!

BrassicaBabe · 10/05/2020 11:09

Something up your sleeve BIWI? That wouldn't be BC with wine would it?! GrinWink

SophieRay · 10/05/2020 12:24

Brassica that was my first thought - BC with wine Grin

venusandmars · 10/05/2020 20:17

Please, please don't say it involves exercise BIWI especially not skipping...

BigJonn · 10/05/2020 20:22

@BrassicaBabe not doing too bad, got into a funk and nothing would shift, felt like I was just maintaining.
Went back to first principles and upper my spinach, mushroom, butter and cream intake whilst reducing nuts and some eggs :-(
I did discover that a once a week low carb mug cake with strawberries and cream lifted my spirits and kick started the weight to slowly move down again.
Ground flaxseed and almond cookies with erithrytol sweetener make fantastic crunchy treats which I occasionally have with butter and marmite. (Odd I know, but I can't help my tastes :-))
I think the main mistake I was making was too little fat in the food I was eating.
How is everyone else doing ?
