You know the drill: weigh-in; update the Spreadsheet; let us know how you've done. Everyone fall in!

For all those of you who can't find celeriac, and/or hate trying to peel it, here's a great product to try frozen celeriac from Waitrose

I've also added it to the thread about good low carb products - which is also worth checking out!

Useful low carb products

If you come across anything on your low carb 'journey' please post it here - ideally with pictures of the front so we can recognise it, but also (if you can) a picture of the nutritional panel on the back.

BIWI I should be used to the pain by now. I've suffered for years with pain, and have been on crutches to walk for the last 5 years, but sometimes it gets too bad to cope with.
I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome, which causes dodgy joints, and I'm being investigated for early arthritis

Report
HerRoyalFattyness · 25/02/2020 12:14

That's one of my biggest motivations to lose weight. If I can lose weight, then the pressure on my joints should ease a bit.

Hopefully a LCHF diet will also help to reduce any inflammation, which might be another positive for you @HerRoyalFattyness

For all those of you worried about this being a high fat diet, or even those of you who are still slightly concerned about it - and everyone who is worried about their cholesterol levels, this is a brilliant article which should help to dispel those worries

@AthelstaneTheUnready - please could you add this to the resources on the spreadsheet? many thanks Flowers

That's a really interesting article. Thank you.

Just had my lunch. I am loving this so far (I know it's only been two days!)
But not once have I been hungry or craving junk. And as someone who can sit and eat six packs of crisps in one sitting then head for the chocolate, that's a big deal!

It's one of the key benefits of this WOE @HerRoyalFattyness - suppressing the appetite does make it a lot easier. Unfortunately it doesn't help quite so much for those of us who eat for comfort/emotional sustenance! You have to work a bit harder if that's an issue Smile

I woke up to a lovely sunny day smile. Only to find out I am much fatter than Harvey Weinstein

Four years ago I was watching the Super Bowl and as they introduced the started lineup, complete with player statistics, I realised I weighed more than the average NFL linebacker.

That made me feel great. Hmm

My bastard dh I love him really Wink weighs less than me, despite being an inch or so taller Hmm

He's trying to lose weight too but is also still stuck in the "to lose weight you must exercise" mindset - quite apart from the blind belief in the our GP's/the NHS's low fat advice Hmm

I've sent him a copy of the article that BIWI has just linked to Wink. He may or may not read it and he may or may not believe it. But I'm not going to argue with him Grin

How heavy is a line backer and Harvey Weinstein? I’m wondering how I compare myself now.

Report
HerRoyalCarbyLess · 25/02/2020 17:38

I made pancakes and didn't eat even a single bite Grin feeling quite proud of myself as I usually have 2 or 3.

Does anyone observe lent? My kids go to a Catholic school and asked me what I'm giving up for lent. I told them carbs Wink
The 11 year old said he's giving up caring Hmm
The 6 year old is giving up shouting (told to me while shouting)
The 4 year old said "uh. I give up give ups"

bigger than your average NFL player

Ah, I was very specific saying NFL linebacker. Average weight 220lbs, I was 236lbs at the time. It would have been fine if I had also been 6’2”—average height of said linebackers—alas, I am barely 5’4”.

I did not mention NFL defensive linemen. Average weight 312lbs.

As for Mr Weinstein, I’ve no idea how much he weighs but do think at times he should get his (apparently deformed) balls balls chopped off for his sins and lose an instant pound or so.**

Anyway, comparison is the thief of joy so I no longer compare myself to men who bear no resemblance to my circumstances. Grin

**I don’t really think he should be castrated, by the way. I’m not that cruel.

Ps—sorry to mention Harvey Weinstein’s balls during the dinner hour Blush

CarbyLess your children sound very funny.

I was reared in the Catholic Church and always observe lent. Usually from a distance.

I’m less than a line backer then. Great.

I also made pancakes for my family. None for me!

Thankfully I don't really like pancakes, so don't feel deprived at all!

I found a recipe for keto pancakes but couldn’t be bothered in the end.

Just had low carb bread from Waitrose with Philadelphia. What do you think is a sensible limit on said bread? It’s really bloody nice.

I’ve just had a slice of low carb bread rozhuntley, the one alma’recommended last week. Was quite nice.

Making pancakes when dd is home from training. She has them at least once a week anyway but it’s still nice to have them today.

Don’t know, but I’d take into consideration whether I’d had enough carbs from nutritious sources—FLGV—before contemplating an additional slice of low carb substitute bread.

Because this is about real food and improving health and getting what our bodies need, not carb counting.

By the way, I am absolutely not judging. It’s just very easy to get into carb counting while ignoring vitamins and minerals and proteins and lovely fat.

That’s why many people hear “low carb” and think it’s not healthy or sustainable.

I’m no Poster Child for this WOE! Grin

Hmm I’ve had no veg today. Not usual for me though! I’ll have plenty tomorrow. I can eat sprouts in a bowl by themselves

@RozHuntleysStump

Hmm I’ve had no veg today

This is a key rule of Bootcamp! It also answers your other question about bread - the majority of your carbs should be coming from veg, salad and (some/a little) fruit. Only then should you think about including carbs from bread.

So if all you've had today is bread, and no veg, then that's too much bread!
