Morning all!

I love this week. It's my favourite week of the whole Bootcamp, because it's when people are finally convinced that it works!

And already I see some great losses - yes @TightPants that really can be true. No your scales aren't wrong, and presumably you'll be changing your name very soon?!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness to record the first week's loss.

Looking forward to hearing more great results Flowers

Get well soon @ SayrraT. That sounds very tiring.

Where is everyone today? There aren't many posters checking in. Have you all got exciting real life stuff going on?

Rshard · 23/10/2018 21:21

I’ve had a busy but not very exciting day blacktea

Hope you feel better soon sayyra.

BIWI · 23/10/2018 21:28

Sorry to hear of various ills!

It is a quiet thread @blackteasplease - much more than normal!

Although that's a good thing as sometimes it's like trying to herd cats

Anyone know of any good, quick cures for mouth ulcers? For the last 2-3 weeks I've had constant outbreaks of them - in different places in my mouth. Really irritating. I'm feeling generally under the weather right now, like I'm fighting something off (and worrying that I'm losing the battle!)

starsky22 · 23/10/2018 21:50

BIWI Have you tried anbesol, I find that works well, also aloclair?

Welcome countdown

Ampstrong You've got this, remember 2-3lbs a week (or even just 1lb) is still a good result, and 9 weeks of weight loss like that can mean 18 to 27lbs lost!

I also love the food on this woe, but also find that I think about food at lot less than i did previously, I am not constantly thinking about what I'm going to eat, which I think is a result of cutting out sugar and not having the sugar highs & lows anymore, so I get what you are saying Iamnotacerealkiller

Today:
B fasting
L 2 chicken thighs with skin, bubble & squeak cooked in butter made with celeriac, sprouts & broccoli
D pork steak with roasted pumpkin and sprouting broccoli and a sauce made with bacon, sages & cream

JuniperBeer · 23/10/2018 21:50

@athelstone I’ve finally got round to put my starting and first weigh in in the spreadsheet and think I’ve broken it... it’s showing as everything as a total loss 😬

Iamnotacerealkiller · 23/10/2018 21:52

have you swished strong salt water? hurts but works for me. i think i read somewhere that mouth ulcers can be triggered by low carbing, can't remember why now, any insight BIWI?

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 23/10/2018 21:53

Aaargh why am I watching bake off! It's like torture... I've got a friends kids part tomorrow too, she's been busy baking. Must. Stay. Strong.

@BIWI try salt water rinses, but also lysine tablets, I use them for cold sores and they work really well to get rid of those, I'm sure I tried them when I had awful mouth ulcers from braces and they helped.

StuntNun · 23/10/2018 21:54

BIWI Genigel Gingival Gel is the bomb. Expensive but gives rapid relief.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/10/2018 21:56

@SayraT , and @Ampstrong I had a filthy cold , lasted nearly 2 weeks and I honestly thought I was going to die ( I am a bit of a drama queen ) took paracetamol , have inhalers , went to bed at 8pm a few nights , and I survived 😀 but it was awful at the time , so I sympathise
The only good thing was that I lost my appetite

Had a goodish day , feel exhausted and legs are aching , think I may have Low Carb Flop , got a lot done though

Not sure about ulcers @BIWI Bonjela ? Vitamin C ?

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/10/2018 22:13

Forgot to say
While shopping today in Tesco , I was looking at the frozen veg , in the “naice “part of the freezer they had peeled whole shallots , chopped tomatoes, mixed mushrooms , kale , as well as all the ordinary stuff , also finely chopped veg for a sauce base Indian and Thai versions too
Thought they may be a bit of a time saver for making dinner a bit easier

ilovecherries · 23/10/2018 22:24

The house is going to be empty for a few days so I wanted to empty the fridge. Dinner was buttered sprouts, squeaky beans sautéed in chilli oil, long stem brocilli with lemon and wilted spinach with a soft egg on top. It’s was weirdly delicious.

Redd, my reduction is provisionally booked for March. I’m hoping the nhs doesn’t decide it’s not doing them any more before then! I’d like to lose another half stone before than although my surgeon does say it’s not essential and I will lose about 4lbs in the surgery. Apparently my centre of gravity will be completely skewiff afterwards till I get rebalanced.

Toots, shopping is great now! I actually have a very small wardrobe now, but I love everything in it!

TheNorthernTights · 23/10/2018 22:27

Just checking in to say you’re all flipping inspiring - those who are doing brilliantly but also those who are struggling, because you’re still here, still going.

I’m hanging on in there at the moment & struggling to keep up with the thread bit tonight I’ve caught up & feel more determined than ever.

Especially after a conversation with a friend who is about to start Slimming World. She moans about the restrictions, the hunger, the cravings - I’ve tried to talk to her about low carb but she’s convinced that’s better. Hmm

starsky22 · 23/10/2018 23:01

I could never do a low calorie diet, I can cope without cake and chocolate, but removing the skin from chicken and cutting fat off all meat is just a step too far!

Spiderkitty · 23/10/2018 23:05

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Youcantscareme Sad

I hope you all feel much better soon Chesterfieldsofa, Ampstrong, and SayrraT

BIWI the best thing I've found for mouth ulcers is igloo gel, it stops them hurting completely!

B: Full fat yoghurt, 2x coffee with cream
S: Pate, piece of cheese and cucumber
L: Pork and cheese with rocket and mayo
D: Salmon, rocket and mushrooms fried in butter
3 litres of water

We've got millions of apples on the tree at the moment so I've been busy baking various apple based desserts for DH and DS. I was really pleased that I had no temptation to try them whatsoever!

Spiderkitty · 23/10/2018 23:12

I did slimming world for a bit TheNorthernTights and it was rubbish!

I couldn't eat dairy at the time so it was just lean meat and veg, every time I ate pasta I had a gain, despite it being a free food! I didn't enjoy it at all, this WoE is so much better and far more sustainable (and not full of muller lights and mugshots!)

MumOfAPickle · 24/10/2018 00:14

Evening all, been busy decorating so just caught up with the thread.
Sorry for the loss of your cat youcantscareme similar happened to our lovely girl last year and I was devastated.
BIWI I never knew what you name meant! Love it!
I’ve managed to stick to it still:
B: scrambled eggs, sprouts and mushrooms (with lots of lovely butter)
L: chicken thighs with salad and mayo
D: went to Zizzi and had olives followed by sea bass which came with tenderstem broccoli, cavello Nero and a tomato and olive ragu. Absolutely delish and I stuck to water Smile

At a friends for lunch tomorrow so I’ll eat a good breakfast so I can avoid carby offerings. Rest of the week should be fine except it’s my mum’s 70th lunch on sat and saying no to the delicious lemon cake that I am making for her is going to be very difficult Grin

MumOfAPickle · 24/10/2018 00:16

Oh and yy to slimming world!! That was a complete waste of time and money (a bloody year Angry). I was so hungry that I would eat those stupid sw bars which were just full of crap!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 24/10/2018 05:56

Just checking in after a few days away in Belgium. I was in two minds about whether to delay my start to Bootcamp as I knew this trip was coming up. It’s been many years since I last visited and I knew the temptation to have some of my favourite foods would be strong.
As it turned out, I did not fall face first into pralines and chips with mayonnaise. Grin I didn’t avoid them completely but I was so struck by how I had no real desire to eat the chocolates or cakes. Instead, I was lusting over delicious meats with creamy sauces!

I’m starting Bootcamp from the beginning again today so will lag a week or so behind everyone else.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 24/10/2018 08:12
Flowers

And a huge to youcantscareme.

@BIWI, I used to have chronic endless mouth ulcers, that turned out to be linked to anaemia - if you're feeling knackered as well, that may be worth looking into? I get them now if I cheat on the wheat, and the quickest way I've found of healing them (or preventing them develop when they start) is vitamin C AND Zinc together - and lots of it. I take about 2,000mg* of vit C a day if I start up, the fizzy ones that also contain zinc.

*as strongly recommended by my personal doctor, i.e. my father

Juniper, you've not broken it, and superb loss there! Grin

Boldly, it is weirdly freeing, isn't it - like others were saying earlier, it's so odd to go from craving something or other all the bloody time, to genuinely appreciating what you do eat, and not wanting what you don't!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 24/10/2018 08:15

p.s. not everyone's recorded their weight by any means, but even so, collectively we lost a whole person's worth of weight this first week - 128lbs - a 9 stone, 2lb person. Go us! Grin

FuriousFifties · 24/10/2018 08:25

Just nipping in, morning everyone. youcantscareme Flowers really feel for you.
Hope those with colds and bugs start feeling better, I'm pretending that I haven't got a sniffle starting.

I feel as though my body is holding back this time somehow, it's weird and not how I usually progress. Usually in the first couple of weeks I see a daily small downwards drop. I know that's the peril of daily weighing and I have heard of the whoosh so maybe that'll happen. Also pondering that I may be overdoing it on the cream. Don't get me wrong I'm really happy with the 3.2 loss in the first week i's just that I'm stuck in the doldrums, like it's on pause.
I think veg has been good so far yesterdays menu,

breakfast, leftover bolognese with loads of salad mayo and oily dressing
lunch 2 egg omelette, spinach, streaky bacon and cheese, oily salad
Tea, chicken thighs with leeks n creamy loveliness purple broccoli.
3 coffees with with cream and 2.5 litres of water. Maybe another stray coffee or so if I'm honest

I don't think I've ever been quite so forthcoming on a LC thread, thanks for listening!

Livinglavidal0ca · 24/10/2018 08:30

Stepped on the scales today for my day 4, was going to wait but wanted to see if anything was happening. 3.75lbs gone! I assume water weight but seeing as calorie counting meant my weight hadn't shifted for weeks even with water weight it's so nice to see it's gone down. I don't have a sweet tooth anyway, but do love my pasta and potatoes, haven't missed them though. Struggling without fruit mind!

Littleorangetree · 24/10/2018 09:21

Morning everyone Smile.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. All going ok, though still struggling to drink enough water. I made a nice dinner - chicken breast stuffed with pate and wrapped in parma ham. Was bloomin' lovely!

I hope everyone who's been feeling rubbish is feeling a bit better this morning Flowers.

Anyway, onwards and upwards (or downwards!) today.

B: bacon and eggs
L: Veg, bacon and chicken soup with lots of fat from olive oil and the stock I made with bits of chicken bones and skin. Might pop some cream in too fr good measure.
D: Maybe coconut curry of some description.

StAlphonzospancakebreakfast · 24/10/2018 09:27

furiousfifties I feel similar, my scale hasn’t really moved for a week and a half and i’m feeling a bit demotivated about it all. Also half term is making it hard, i’m all over the place and less prepared. Urgh. Off on a big day trip today involving 2 meals out. Had breakfast but i’m wavering. Talk me down people! Remind me it’s worth it!
