Morning all!

I love this week. It's my favourite week of the whole Bootcamp, because it's when people are finally convinced that it works!

And already I see some great losses - yes @TightPants that really can be true. No your scales aren't wrong, and presumably you'll be changing your name very soon?!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness to record the first week's loss.

Looking forward to hearing more great results Flowers

2lb loss for me this week. A slow start but still a loss.

Some great results for others this week. Well done!

ilovecherries · 22/10/2018 08:59

Weight - lost 4ozs. Grin. However, 4 ozs a week would be 2.5 lbs by the end of bootcamp. Which would put me only 5.5 pounds from goal. (Just call me Pollyanna).

bluelefant · 22/10/2018 09:00

Hi everyone!
Great to see some amazing results
-3lb here which I am very happy with as I had nothing for 3 weeks and nearly lost my motivation.
Taking part in this definitely helped me to keep going and here it is
😊 A loss again 👍🏻

Ampstrong · 22/10/2018 09:00

Um hope you guys don’t mind me asking this here, I find that when I low carb I get a lot of period spotting in general which is fine. But when my carbs are v low my flow increases quite a bit 🙄 is this typical for low carbers? I do have the implant so I know that obviously makes a difference but does the difference in carbs affect ppl hormonally? I wanted to swim this morning 😒

BIWI · 22/10/2018 09:09

@tartantroosers

From the last thread (you didn't read it did you - because you didn't see the link to this thread?!)

Full disclosure here, I've followed this to the letter but there have been a few vodka and soda waters

Then you haven't followed it to the letter, have you?!

Alcohol is the easiest source of fuel for the body to burn. So while you're drinking alcohol, you're stopping your body burning fat, so actually undoing all the good work you're trying to do by reducing your carbs.

@Peaches2018 - have you not seen the link I've posted about downloading the Google docs app?

BIWI · 22/10/2018 09:11

... I've added your weigh - did you mean 7.05 or 7.5lbs? I put in 7.05, which is what you posted, but the spreadsheet rounds down so you don't see the completely accurate figure

@BIWI not that I can remember sorry!

Peaches2018 · 22/10/2018 09:13

I mean 7.0 and thank you very much. If I can't add it next week on my phone I'll try on my laptop then

BIWI · 22/10/2018 09:17

Google Docs app

That's on the Apple Store - I'm sure there's one for Android phones as well

Cracking losses here, congratulations! Grin

2lbs down for me, which I'm very pleased with because a) I've been mostly low carb this year so not such a change to the system, and b) I'm only about 7lbs away from goal, and so won't be seeing much drama this bootcamp.

Ampstrong, I don't know much about the mechanics, but there is a hormonal link - low carb has helped people with PCOS, and others find their periods go up/down depending. Personally, on low carb I get no spots/soreness at that TOM (although again, a more complicated gynae background).

meercat23 · 22/10/2018 09:27

Really pleased with my 4.5 lb loss especially as I had already been no carbing for a couple of weeks. My only problem has been that for some reasons I have found that I cant face eggs in any shape or form. That's a pain as eggs are usually my go to solution when no carbing. I will try the egg muffins this week and see if that helps. Otherwise I have found it quite easy to keep to the rules.

StuntNun · 22/10/2018 09:30

WildRumpy it's perfectly possible to eat low carb without a gall bladder but if you have suddenly increased your fat intake then it might take a while for your body to adapt. If it's still a problem then try dialling down the fat and then increasing it more gradually.

Ampstrong when you're burning fat (by any method) then the oestrogen stored in fat cells can cause issues such as temporary return of periods post-menopause, spotting while on the coil, or mid-cycle bleeding that makes it seem like you've had an extra period.

Oh, itching is a thing! I’ve had such an itchy head (keep nit combing it because that’s what it feels like 😂), maybe it’s just the WOE.
Only lost 1lb but am on week 3 so was expecting slower loss. Been harder this week not to think oh i’ll just have a bit of toast..but the thread has really helped me stay motivated! Onwards to the next week 😊

MaudesMum · 22/10/2018 09:41

My weight has gone UP by 1lb, but deservedly so. Its been a crap week - two big social occasions, being caught up in the closure of Paddington station, and hosting our book group, all led to me falling into the arms of alcohol and even biscuits. Have just pointed out to myself that if I continued like this it would take 6 months to put on all the weight I've already lost, and I'm not letting that happen. So, leftover biscuits now in food bin, fridge full of eggs, veg & yoghurt, and I'm drinking water like there's no tomorrow. Full of admiration for everyone else who's done so well!

bibliomania · 22/10/2018 09:41

Sushi without rice = sashimi!

Down 3lbs, which is okay. Over a stone and a half since last Feb when I kicked off with the Michael Mosley blood sugar diet, which then led me to the last bootcamp.

Laska5772 · 22/10/2018 09:42

I am a STS but then I didn't follow the plan.. Last week turned out to be a really difficult and upsetting week from hell, personally, which meant I didn't eat properly/anything much and then I drank far too much Wine over the weekend .

However I'm forgiving myself and just starting over today ..

Well done you losers ! Smile

Ampstrong · 22/10/2018 09:42

Thankyou Athelstane and stunt nun 🙂 it's soo worth it in any case!

Rainbowturkey · 22/10/2018 09:42

Thanks all for the reassurance re the itching, hoping it dispears - will take an antihistamine if it gets too bad.

littleredlipstick · 22/10/2018 10:26

2lb loss!

Not bad considering I was on an all inclusive cruise all last week

Butterfly44 · 22/10/2018 10:40

4lb loss here. I just find the first week is always the most ...and I never manage the same momentum so I expect less thereafter! 😕

abbey44 · 22/10/2018 10:40

Help - only 1lb loss this week overall, but I've been weighing daily (keeps me on track) and I've had some massive ups and downs - I'm talking 5lbs at a time. That's ok when it's down, obviously, but I don't like it when it's up, as I've been following the rules. I don't know what's going on. Maybe too much cheese...? Portion control...? I've been glugging loads of water and herbal teas - might that be it and I'll see a whoosh next week?

On the other hand, my sugar levels have been lovely and steady, and I've been able to reduce my long-term insulin by 4 units a day (from 24 to 20), which is a good thing as it tells me I'm adjusting to the lower level of carbs.

I guess it's just a case of KOKO...

Liveinthepresent · 22/10/2018 10:41

Morning all just peeping in to say well done to all those with progress and losses this week .
I stArted late so haven’t weighed today but am in the ‘struggling ‘ camp. I need to focus and plan much better . I have a new job which involves travelling by car and needing to eat on the run. I ended up in Costa with a colleague last week and genuinely couldnt see how to avoid carbs without just starving !
Not travelling this week due to half term so am making egg muffins and some chicken soup - should be easier to keep on track.
I really need to do this.

Chesterfieldsofa · 22/10/2018 10:50

If you're travelling by car, then you must be passing supermarkets, ideal for grabbing something from the fridge and for the loo!

Chesterfieldsofa · 22/10/2018 10:51

Just have three words for you on this sunny Monday morning,

Orange poop, normal?
