Morning all!

I love this week. It's my favourite week of the whole Bootcamp, because it's when people are finally convinced that it works!

And already I see some great losses - yes @TightPants that really can be true. No your scales aren't wrong, and presumably you'll be changing your name very soon?!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness to record the first week's loss.

Looking forward to hearing more great results Flowers

So sorry to hear about your cat youcantscareme Flowers

starsky22 · 22/10/2018 22:39

Great post Grah

I'm feeling very motivated by my own weight loss, but also by hearing about how well everyone else is doing!

Had a lovely dinner of steak, celeriac chips and buttered sprouts, yum! I love this woe, so not a diet!

blackteaplease · 22/10/2018 22:48

sounds delicious @ReddA.

oldbirdy · 22/10/2018 23:14

Meals today:
Breakfast : Greek yogurt and cream
Mid morning: coffee with milk (no cream in the cafe!)
Lunch: tinned mackerel in spicy tomato sauce and half an avocado
Tea: courgetti (with butter) and home made Bolognese with parmesan (kids had with pasta).
Bit of a tomatoe-y day today. I did use shallots instead of onions in the Bolognese though.

Peaches2018 · 22/10/2018 23:22

Hi all I discovered today that coconut cream / milk in coffee is delicious, such a nice taste. Guess what I'll be having in the morning.
Had eggs along with breakfast, lunch was cheeses and olives and salad combined, dinner was omelet with veggies that had to go with (again) cheese and some chicken through it and I'm full.

It's great to see how everyone is and I wanted to give a big thank you to everyone here for all the support, great posts and help, normally I would've given up or cheated on purpose not this time though!!

Fartoomuchcakeandwine · 22/10/2018 23:29

My friend has told me it's going to get really bad day 3-5....! I'm day 3 tomorrow and I'm scared. She has lost so much weight so I'm motivated to keep going but still 😬.. seeing how much you have all lost helps!

prettybird · 22/10/2018 23:31

So sorry about your cat youcantscareme - it's a devastating loss Sad. Happened to us 2 years ago when we found out that our favourite big tart had been crossing the next street from ours to visit a nursery where he was a frequent and much loved visitor.

prettybird · 23/10/2018 00:08

Fartoomuch - not everyone suffers from carb flu. I never did.

I do sometimes get headaches if I've not drunk enough water/am low on electrolytes.

Fartoomuchcakeandwine · 23/10/2018 00:39

Ok, thanks prettybird.. hopefully I won't. Although I've definitely turned in to an insomniac, but I think that's because I've not had a glass of wine before bed!

ItsalmostSummer · 23/10/2018 01:57

Ahhh I forgot to sign in. My scales finally broke this week - the battery part snapped and it just finally didn’t work. I have some new scales but they give a different reading every time I step on them Shock anyway I’ll sign in and see how next weeks weigh in goes - as currently I haven’t lost weight but it could be the new scales.

ItsalmostSummer · 23/10/2018 01:57

Well done to everyone !!! Great start Smile

ItsalmostSummer · 23/10/2018 02:11

Oh and just reading all the losses - lots of 4-6 pound losses so awesome! I hope that’s me next week.

BIWI · 23/10/2018 07:26

@Fartoomuchcakeandwine as prettybird says, you won't necessarily suffer from it. If you do, then it's because your electrolytes are out of whack - in particular, you need sodium. So add salt to your food, and cook with it. Drink a hot drink made from Oxo or Bovril or Marmite.

Sources of the other key electrolytes (magnesium and potassium) are salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat natural yoghurt. You could also use Lo-Salt on your food as well.

You are definitely finding sleeping hard if you're used to drinking wine or alcohol every night! But soon you'll find that you are sleeping much better

@Youcantscaremihavechildren - sorry about your cat Sad

@reddA - glad you're feeling better! No need to avoid tinned tomatoes by the way, as long as you are careful how much you use and which brand you choose. I've found that Sainsbury's basics are the lowest in carbs, at 4g carbs per 100g (quarter of a tin).

Sounds to me like you were just hungry! Have you been eating three meals a day? This WOE isn't about depriving yourself, and so you should never feel hunger between meals.

If the fat is proving an issue right now, then build up to it gradually.

The one thing I'd say about your meal is, although it sounds lovely, it's mostly all carbs - even if they were low carb veg! There's no protein in your meal and very little fat, so you do need to work on that. We should be eating high fat, medium protein and low carb - not the other way around!

Morning campers Grin

Well done on the losses so far Star

maude well done on getting rid of the biscuits don't let that little 1lb derail you!

laska I hope this week is better for you Flowers

Good news with the blood sugar abbey RE the up down weight, that's just what happens, as long as the overall trend is down then I'd try to ignore the little blips.

live can you not make egg muffins for the weeks you are at work too? They'd be easy to eat in the car.

bananas just so you know, carbs should definitely not be "totally gone" on this WOE. You should be getting enough from the veg you should be eating. Just checking that you don't think this is a no carb WOE.

Well done prawn, this is much better than calorie counting (IMO) Grin

Definitely with you on the bit trying to find LC versions of HC foods shagmeriggins and cerealkiller. Much better to try to enjoy the LCHF foods for themselves.

red I very occasionally get that feeing with BC, just try eating more veg and don't have eggs/cheese. I love both of them but every now and again the thought of eating either gives me the boak Envy

Good Post grah (so good my phone capitalised both words! Grin)

youcantscareme so sorry about your cat Flowers

Coconut cream in coffee is delicious peaches yum!

fartoomuch you might be fine, some people suffer more than others. Keep some stock cubes on hand, I find a drink if those helps with carb flu.

itsalmosrsummer you could take measurements/pics instead?

Argh trying to do a crabby SuperPost but it's hard on my phone so humongous apologies if I have missed you. I've also run out of time to tell you any of my things!

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 23/10/2018 08:31

Thanks all for the kind thoughts. I'm a proper emotional eater so I need to stick to this when and if I get a bit down over the next few weeks.
I've got little cash at the moment, massive car bill plus other unexpected stuff this week, so trying to eat out if the freezer for a few days. Got spag bol tonight, only thing in it is the tinned tomatos but it's good to hear they might be OK, just aldi basic tinned tom's. Will have with some brocoli rice, from the freezer, Iceland do it.
Defo going to look into the coconut cream for my coffees, as normal cream would not work!
No eggs in this morning, so maybe just bacon and avo for breakfast.

Dairy free yoghurt... Annoyingly the alpro unsweetened yoghurt is zero Carbs but a pain to get hold of, aldi started doing a soya yoghurt which I was ridiculously excited about but it's 4.2 carbs... That's too high isn't it? Could I add something to it to make it better, to have occasionally? Coconut cream?

Iamnotacerealkiller · 23/10/2018 09:12

Anyone else having trouble, not with physical cravings but with social pressure/politness? managed to avoid home made dessert as i 'needed to feed the baby' last night. my mum has cream tea vouchers that are running out and keeps hinting too Haloween Sad also feel bad just ordering water at cafe...

oldbirdy · 23/10/2018 09:14

Morning all!
Yogurt recommendation: the Onken Greek style is 10 percent fat, 3.3g carbs and less "claggy" in the mouth than Tesco finest which is my usual go to. Lovely.

Iceland do steam bags with a mixture of kale, broccoli, courgette, spinach and seaweed, all chopped up small (can't taste the seaweed, alas). They're a bit bland on their own, but last night I stir fried them with prawns, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, fresh coriander and lime juice, which perked them up no end.

Chesterfieldsofa · 23/10/2018 10:38

Bad things happening, orange poops mentioned yesterday was start of tummy bug from hell. Good for weight loss I suppose, but very dehydrated and am managing one digestive biscuit every 3 or 4 hours as can't face anything else. Not good.

Peaches2018 · 23/10/2018 10:54

@Youcantscaremeihavechildren if you put a can of coconut milk in the refrigerator and then open it up the cream is on top and the rest of the milk you can drink too. Very good if you're thirsty.
@Iamnotacerealkiller YES I'm there soon too with in laws. I married a British Pakistani man (fabulous cook) BUT my goodness the amount of sugar and carbs It's too much for me. I'm definitely not eating at in laws but I need to politely refuse the mountain of biscuits, desserts and high sugar fruits. I don't feel comfortable either to say I watch what I'm eating since I got laughed at a bit and for another attempt to lose my weight:s

Peaches2018 · 23/10/2018 10:55

@Chesterfieldsofa I hope you feel better soon

ilovecherries · 23/10/2018 11:09

Redd, for me, the process of becoming fat adapted was hideous. I make no bones about that. I spent the first 4-6 weeks feeling a bit like I did when I was in labour - I.e., majorly furious at everyone who hadn’t told me how shite it would be. Plus at the same time, feeling deeply resentful of everyone else who was all glowy and happy with their weight loss, their food, their skin etc etc. I felt sick a lot of the time, I stank of ketones - they were oozing out of my skin, I itched, my alopecia returned with a vengeance, I had palpitations, I had horrible dreams etc etc. While I’m sure it would have been even worse without the water and electrolytes, to be honest I was necking both and still feeling grim. I only stuck to it because I had absolutely committed to doing it to the letter for 10 weeks. I actually assumed it wouldn’t work, it was simply last chance saloon before I spent the new kitchen fund on bariatric surgery. At about 6 weeks, I started to realise I was feeling a lot better, and I’ve essentially done bootcamp for 18 months now. Feel great, loads of energy, skin looks fantastic, lost heading on for 6 stone. So I’m not telling you this to guilt trip you, I’m really just saying my experience is that it CAN be very hard initially, and take a lot longer than a week to feel well, and that can feel quite isolating. But it’s so very worth it if you can stick with it. 6 lbs is an amazing start, and you will start to adapt and feel a lot better, hopefully quite soon.

ilovecherries · 23/10/2018 11:14

Haha, hadn’t read last page. You are feeling better already Grin

reddA · 23/10/2018 12:21

Morning campers Grin Thanks for the tips and sharing stories - I really need to learn how to tag posters, I've only been on MN for about 15 years Blush

BIWI I did have some parmesan on top - forgot about that lol - yesterday was quite low fat tbh, not intentionally though. I'm feeling pretty good so far today so am hopeful for a better ratio.

ilovecherries - I've been reading old bootcamp threads and must say, you are an inspiration, have you heard anymore about your reduction? (I promise I'm not a crazy stalker!! haha)

Chesterfield, get well soon Flowers Mine is currently green (the colour it goes when you take pepto) , I assume this is something to do with spinach Grin

Cerealkiller, no problems in social situations for me - I don't have any friends Blush

Had ff greek yogurt with double cream for breakfast, probably eggs of some desription with bacon, spinach and mushrooms for lunch, then beef something for dinner (will look at the recipe threads for ideas)

My hair seems to be shinier
