New Year, New Start Week 2: This WoE works!

Welcome to Week 2 - the one where many of us (especially the newbies) will see the biggest drops. For those that don't, the drops will come. We will have seen other benefits too: brighter eyes, smaller waist (with the reduction of dangerous visceral fat from around our organs) - and all without feeling hungry Smile Week 2 is also when I find that my pschological urge to snack reduces.

Remember that you still need to adhere to the Rules. This is not a forgiving Way of Eating and if you cheat, you will set back the process of getting your body to adapt to fat burning. Only one more week of being ultra strict - it is only one more week Smile If you're thinking of cheating, come on here and we will talk you down. It really helps if you are prepared and have low carb snacks with you, or drink some water when you think you are hungry.

Keep drinking the required water ( StuntNun has explained why this is important). Avoid nuts and seeds (unless you are veggie), all fruit (you can look forward to the odd treat of berries from next week) - and no alcohol or artificial sweetender for another week.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here to remind you to keep to the straight and narrow with the Rules and with resources to advise you. You can weigh-in if you choose to, but it is not compulsory. Over the weeks, your weight loss will start to average 1-2lb a week, sometimes more sometimes less .

The Week 1 Spillover thread is here.

Thanks StuntNun no triglycerides, been low carbing a year now. Will drop the belly pork for oily fish!

Alwaysinmyheart · 15/01/2018 10:54

I think it's a great idea to start a new recipe thread, it's so useful and is getting full up now.

I made some almond flour crackers yesterday which were v nice and I rolled them so thin they were like tortilla chips!

SayrraT · 15/01/2018 10:55

jings please do start a new recipe thread.

blackteaplease · 15/01/2018 10:57

1lb gain for me but my period is due and I neglected the water yesterday.

Well done all that managed a loss.

Mandelinka · 15/01/2018 11:08

Good morning all, 1.5lbs loss for me. Happy with that as have been lowcarbing on/off for about 2 years.
B: 2 mint teas, pate with celery
L: sprouts with bacon
D: vegetable soup.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 15/01/2018 11:22

thanks, Shag Blush

TimeIhadaNameChange · 15/01/2018 11:26

2.6 down for me. I'm pleased with that.

Looking at average weekly loss, I've been doing this since May and I'm averaging at 0.94 lbs a week. It doesn't seem much, maybe, but it means I weight 31 lbs less than I did then, despite Christmas, holidays, and periods of general carby twatiness.

All being well I'll soon be going back to the place I last went to on the very first day I started this back in May. Saturday, 19th May, to be exact (I started two days early). I remember taking a lunchbox with me filled with cheese, ham, crustless mini quiches and salad, plus two small thermos of coffee (with milk, but meant I wouldn't be tempted into a cafe). I took most of it back home with me on the bus, but it did mean I stuck to the plan. Anyway, I'll be back there in two and a half weeks' time, so my plan is to stick to this rigidly and lose 3.7 lbs in that time, as that would mean I'll be going back exactly 2.5 stone lighter.

I therefore need you all to flagellate me on a regular basis with BIWI's stick!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 15/01/2018 11:30

In other news, I ran for 25 mins non-stop this morning! I am so blinking impressed with myself!

Pumpkintopf · 15/01/2018 11:32

Morning all! Half a stone off for me since starting with the preparatory thread - delighted with that and definitely seeing a flatter tummy with less bloating. Still a long way to go but also feeling better so motivated to keep going.

Thanks for all the advice and support everyone Thanks

Pumpkintopf · 15/01/2018 11:32

@TimeIhadaNameChange that's awesome, well done you on the running!

BIWI · 15/01/2018 11:35

I get home soon ☹️

... but have been thinking that when I’m back I might 'rearrange' the Bootcamp recipe threads, into topics, e.g. beef, chicken, fish etc

Pumpkintopf · 15/01/2018 11:38

@BIWI that would be an amazing resource- a lot of work, but would be incredibly useful.

sos1993 · 15/01/2018 11:41

I agree BIWI, that would be fab.

BIWI · 15/01/2018 11:47

👍

nekobus · 15/01/2018 11:52

Good morning campers! 4.4 pounds off for me, I'm very pleased with that. Sorry I've been a lurker this past week so haven't contributed to the thread but reading when I can. It moves a bit fast for me - I think I've caught up with the thread then see it's moved on again so my response would be out of date even before I've written it... But lots of great info on here so thank you everyone for sharing Smile

Well done in all the losses. I think I'm in the zone now as not craving sweet stuff quite as much and not missing anything in particular. I went (back) over 200lbs for the first time since losing my baby weight from DD (4 Shock ) so really want to get into the 100s, maybe this week...

KOKO everyone

ThunderboltsLightning · 15/01/2018 12:03

2.5lb down. Very pleased.

More water throughout the day this week.

JumpingintoLCHF · 15/01/2018 12:16

No loss but at least no gain either. I know it's all my fault for not keeping to the guidelines so I need to be more watchful this week. So far so good today at least!

lisbapalea · 15/01/2018 12:30

just had to resort to a lemsip at work as I feel rough as a bag of spanners. Then just realised lemsip is probably not Low carb? Hopefully it won't derail me too much and I will return to standard paracetamol for my next dose.

Appaloosajunction · 15/01/2018 12:36

Thank goodness for this thread and thanks to everyone who keeps it going.
I was given a box of Thorntons Chocolate Coated Fudge yesterday, (a fav of mine) and I haven't even touched one! Even told DH to fire in and do as much damage as he could! (He looked at me like Shock)
I could never have stuck to the plan if it hadn't been for this thread. No way.
So thanks everyone.

ASDismynormality · 15/01/2018 12:51

lisbapalea. You can get lempsip capsules which have the same medication but obviously not the comfort of the hot drink.

TheSeasonOfTheWitch · 15/01/2018 13:05

Wow, well done Appaloosa, that's serious restraint.

Alwaysinmyheart · 15/01/2018 13:11

I got given a box of Thornton chocs too! Not touched them, going to donate them to a food bank. I'm starting to think of that Kate Moss quote, 'nothing tastes better than skinny feels' and although I don't actually agree with it, I'm sure there's an equivalent low carb version of it...if that makes sense!

Appaloosajunction · 15/01/2018 13:14

Thanks Theseasonof
I'm in smug mode this morning but I know I'll crash and burn at some point (I have previous!)
Hopefully if that happens I will just come straight back on this thread and KOKO.

Appaloosajunction · 15/01/2018 13:16

Always.
Together we will put Thorntons out of business! Grin

Pumpkintopf · 15/01/2018 13:27

Can I ask - is anyone else struggling with tea? I'm trying to drink it with almond milk but it just tastes yeuch to me- seem to need loads of it to make the tea the same colour and then it tastes watery and I'm sure it makes me burp! Would like to give up the milk if I can not just for carbs but animal welfare too - any suggestions anyone? Thanks!
