New Year, New Start Week 2: This WoE works!

Welcome to Week 2 - the one where many of us (especially the newbies) will see the biggest drops. For those that don't, the drops will come. We will have seen other benefits too: brighter eyes, smaller waist (with the reduction of dangerous visceral fat from around our organs) - and all without feeling hungry Smile Week 2 is also when I find that my pschological urge to snack reduces.

Remember that you still need to adhere to the Rules. This is not a forgiving Way of Eating and if you cheat, you will set back the process of getting your body to adapt to fat burning. Only one more week of being ultra strict - it is only one more week Smile If you're thinking of cheating, come on here and we will talk you down. It really helps if you are prepared and have low carb snacks with you, or drink some water when you think you are hungry.

Keep drinking the required water ( StuntNun has explained why this is important). Avoid nuts and seeds (unless you are veggie), all fruit (you can look forward to the odd treat of berries from next week) - and no alcohol or artificial sweetender for another week.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here to remind you to keep to the straight and narrow with the Rules and with resources to advise you. You can weigh-in if you choose to, but it is not compulsory. Over the weeks, your weight loss will start to average 1-2lb a week, sometimes more sometimes less .

The Week 1 Spillover thread is here.

jings the spreadsheet is fine, column D is not complete for most of the recipes as I've never had time to work out the carb counts for them.

Thanks for noticing though.

Rshard · 15/01/2018 19:37

Thanks @prettybird and @sayrra, I’ll try them and report back

I love the idea of an extra period meaning I must be burning fat. Except on the last bootcamp I had a period that lasted 31 days. After about 3 weeks I was so fed up I ended up crashing out of bootcamp and staying a very long way from bootcamp eating until 1 January. But the good news is, 5lb off this week on top of the 11lb (yes really - but was in the midst of the heaviest period I've had in years and years - getting old really sucks) lost in the first week of the year, so I'm now back to where I was when I crashed out of the last bootcamp.

I really, really, really want to lose another 6lb this bootcamp because that will take me to the lowest weight I've been in about 8 years. Every time I get to nearly breaking through the next stone barrier, it all falls apart - must have happened at least 6 or 8 times. But this time WILL be different!!

Thanks to everyone who puts so much work into keeping the thread and the spreadsheet going.

Alwaysinmyheart · 15/01/2018 20:10

I really really wanted a drink tonight! However I had a pork scratching and some fizzy water and the craving went away ( phew)

Just had a lovely dinner of cold pork, celery, cucumber, avocado, cheese and garlic mayonnaise. Was yum! 😀

BerylStreep · 15/01/2018 20:17

pumpkintopf I really wouldn’t recommend soy milk. I’ve been doing a bit of reading about it, and it contains phytoestrogens which completely mess with your hormones.

Watching How to lose weight well on C4

There are some weird diets on that show! The strawberry diet...?

Thanks @prettybird and @sayrra, I’ll make some and report back

TheSeasonOfTheWitch · 15/01/2018 21:03

I think I've eaten far too much dairy today, mainly Parmesan and cream all day.

B - fried egg with grated Parmesan, 2x coffee with cream
L - 2 egg omelette with Parmesan...
D - whole small cauliflower gratin with double cream and... yup, Parmesan...

I've been run off my feet all day so didn't really have time to cook properly. Zero greens. It's not good is it? Though carbs was only 9g for the day I suppose. I just don't feel at all good this evening.

I've also been utterly shattered for the last 3 days. All I've wanted to do is sleep all day and all night. Is this some sort of adjustment?

cabbage67 · 15/01/2018 21:21

3.6 off

MtbMagic · 15/01/2018 21:27

7lb - but started a week early. 2lb this week. Feel good

Rshard · 15/01/2018 21:30

Not sure why my last message posted three times- oops!
Today’s food
B - scrambled eggs salmon
L - tuna salad mayo
D - chicken swede cauliflower broccoli

FiveTwoFaster · 15/01/2018 21:39

Weigh in at 193 - will catch up on thread tomorrow. Temptations ignored though. Big fucking bag of twiglets I ain’t having in the cupboard courtesy of my DH. 3 days and counting. NOT INTERESTED!!

ponygirlcurtis · 15/01/2018 22:03

Forgot to weigh this morning (poorly child) so will do it tomorrow.

Just watched How to Lose Weight Well - interesting bit on how daily weight fluctuations are perfectly normal.

twinkledag · 15/01/2018 22:11

Can I please join? Been holding off because it was my birthday last week but now that's over I want to get back to this! Have planned tomorrow - eggs for breakfast, ham salad with avocado and houmous for lunch and chicken and veg for dinner. Am away with work Weds and Thurs, going to Greece but looking forward to a lovely kebab and salad in Greece!

headoutofthesand · 15/01/2018 22:15

Today's meals were

B: Total yogurt
L: pork belly with spring greens, red onion & carrot. Couldn't remember if I was allowed carrot but ate them anyway. Are they that bad?
S: tuna steak & mushroom, cabbage, broccoli, purple sprouting & whatever other veg were lurking at the bottom of the fridge stir fry. As part of his "eating things up" mission, DH decided to give the soy sauce some extra zing by adding an orange. This made it taste odd and wasn't on Bootcamp but I didn't have much choice as he'd poured the sauce all over the meal. I didn't actually eat much of the sauce.

Snacks: boiled egg; cheese

RaindropsAndSparkles · 15/01/2018 22:28

Well for me, and in spite of a measly 1lb loss, i feel much less bloated and my trousers feel less tight!

B: total (half small pot)
L: salad, chicken, dressing, mayo a few slithers of goats cheese.
S: Half a gammon steak and buttered sprouts. I am never cooking sprouts any other way Grin

I have managed 2L water too. Know it shd be more but thst is good based on last week.

nekobus · 15/01/2018 22:32

waves to my triplets Beryl and Bizzy Smile nice to know there are others the same weight!

I'm going to start logging my food here, didn't manage at all last week but I stayed on plan the whole week.

B - 3 chicken wings, tea with soya milk, coffee and cream
L - chicken and spinach curry with celeriac rice
D - beef shin stew made in the instant pot (took out my portion at the end and thickened DHs with cornflour) was very comforting
S - babybel, coffee and cream
2L of water added to the at least 1L of other drinks. I could do with upping the water

Pumpkintopf · 15/01/2018 22:36

@BerylStreep thanks for the heads up - maybe I just need to chill and enjoy my couple of cups of tea a day rather than stressing too much about it! Thanks

prettybird · 15/01/2018 22:42

Headoutofsand - carrots aren't really Boot Camp compatible (and I think red onions are a bit suss - but I might be wrong as I'm on the phone so I can't check the spreadsheet). But if you didn't gave much, that's ok; a finely grated carrot (to make it go further) is included in the coleslaw recipe on the spreadsheet.

Twinkledag - welcome back

Good for you for resisting the twiglets FiveTwoFaster Halo Just goes to show the power of this WoE Smile Dh has just opened a drum of Cheddars left over from Christmas Hmm At least he didn't even bother offering me any Wink

TheSeasonOfTheWitch - how about wilting some kale or spinach to have in your lunchtime omelette? do as I say, not as I do Blush Maybe with some Boursin or goats cheese to get you to step away from the Parmesan Grin Also, if you're really busy, think about doing extra veg the night before, so you can snack on the cold veg the following day. It's one of my methods for trying to up my veg intake which is not always as high as it should be Wink

A BIG Thank You to who ever added me to the SoF. Muchly appreciated. I know my loss is only a lb but it’s still motivating to see it written down. Every little bit counts.

starsky22 · 15/01/2018 23:25

Queen Starbucks do almond milk, it's where I go for a latte

Alwaysinmyheart · 16/01/2018 00:11

I'm quite enjoying almond milk in my tea, last time I did this diet I didn't know about it and really missed a cuppa! 😀
