Morning campers Flowers

Here's the SoF

From last week's thread it sounds like most people are managing to stick on track for most of the time, which is great.

We have four full weeks left, so still time to make a big difference.

Hope this week goes well.

Almahart and Prettybird thanks for your replies.

My breakfast nuts consist of 10 hazelnuts and I only snack when I’m hungry - usually when I’ve missed a meal. But I think I will give them up for a few weeks and see if it helps. I have been truly zealous for the last 6 weeks, so find it frustrating when I’m not loosing. I have a huge amount to loose. I will koko and hope to reach my goal in about a year...

Alma, hope you feel better tomorrow.

ilovecherries · 22/11/2017 18:27

Are you often hungry during the day, Jerm? By this point on the last bootcamp I wasn't snacking at all because my hunger had gone. I'm wondering if you are eating enough at meal times? I'd tend to eat a more substantial breakfast and a lot more veg with more fat at both my main meals. Snacking on nuts and cheese can add a lot of calories without a great deal of satiety. I know I couldn't go from lunchtime one day to lunchtime the next with nothing but soup and a coffee.

AveAtqueVale · 22/11/2017 18:40

ASD sorry if this is asking the obvious but are you sure you’re not pregnant? My fertility skyrockets when I lose weight, and both times I’ve been pregnant leaking slightly has been the first symptom - before I’ve even got a BFP. Apparently that shouldn’t be possible but bodies are weird...

Scabbersley · 22/11/2017 19:08

I am having my cholesterol tested in a couple of weeks. Is there a way to low carb without all the animal fat?

blackteaplease · 22/11/2017 19:10

It is possible to leak breastmilk and not be pregnant, it happened to my SIL due to a hormone imbalance.

I had a mad busy day at work today and surprised myself by not eating lunch until 2.30 and being ok. Previously I would have been really shaky by 1pm at the latest.
Todays food
B: frozen fruit and yogurt
L handful of green olives, 3 slices cheese, 2 slices ham and pork scratchings (not the best but a quick fridge grab in between conference calls)
D chilli with iceberg lettuce
lots of sparkling water and 3 coffees

ClearEyesFullHearts · 22/11/2017 19:26

Jerm more fat (butter butter butter and low carb mayonnaise preferred over cheese), drink the water every day, more veg (preferably the good green kind like spinach and mayo, though Celeriac and cauliflower and others also good), and lose the bits entirely.

If you're really hungry between full meals, snack on a babybel or hard boiled egg.

You're doing a great job. KOKO.

ASD the breast milk thing--if I understand correctly, it's normal to me to be leaking from both sides. I leaked every which way (TMI) and was shocked at the watersprinkler nipple effect.

Also, I could still produce breast milk at least two years after I had my last one, with just a good squeeze.

Won't tell you how we learned that. Wink

Jerm123 · 22/11/2017 19:26

I love cherries, thank you. I am not often hungry, but sometimes find myself unable to find suitable food when out. I carry a snack pack of nuts and cheese for this. I rarely snack and eat a meal - the snack tends to replace the evening one (usually because I’m very late home and i’m Scared i’ll Succumb to carbs when hungry on the train home)

I’m going to try cutting the snacks now and if I get home too late to eat, i’ll just miss the meal- it won’t kill me.

I know that this will be a marathon for me, rather than a sprint and my motivation not to look like a weeble WILL survive a couple of weeks sts.

I am so impressed by the number of people who have already lost 50lbs plus on this thread. It stops me feeling like an oddity Blush and gives me great hope.

ilovecherries · 22/11/2017 19:32

Jerm, you have absolutely got this. I'm one of the 50 pounders, and it gets easier all the time. I wouldn't miss evening meals if you are hungry though. Even if it's just scrambled eggs. My fridge is like a deli counter, so I can always reduce a meal quickly!

ASDismynormality · 22/11/2017 19:51

Deffo not pregnant, tested after the dr appointment as that was a possibility in her mind. I haven't breastfed for 7 years, I do get very sore breasts before my period and I'm wondering if maybe it happens every month I just haven't noticed before.

Jerm123. You can do it, I have many times felt quite despondent but thankfully carried on.

ilovecherries · 22/11/2017 19:58

I breastfed till my DD was four - she was in and out of hospital a lot, and every time I thought we'd stopped, she'd be ill again. Eventually stopped the week after her 4th birthday. Then she was admitted to hospital as an emergency when she was 9. She was terribly upset and within a day I started to relactate again. Not that I shared that titbit (no pun intended!) with her! Bodies are mysterious things sometimes.

FurryTurnip · 22/11/2017 20:07

Hi all.

B: Greek yogurt, cream, raspberries
L: egg mayo, lettuce, cucumber
D: can't really be arsed. I'm getting in very late from work at the moment and just can't be bothered making anything. It may just be a lump of cheese...

ilovecherries · 22/11/2017 20:27

I had a carrot mashed with butter and salt tonight with my dinner (chicken casserole). It's the first carrot I've had for 6 months apart from the odd bit of grated carrot on salads in restaurants. While it was bloody delicious, it was SO sweet. Was convinced someone had candied the carrots but they were just plain boiled.

Rshard · 22/11/2017 20:31

Checking in with today’s grub
B - scrambled eggs and mushrooms, both cooked in butter
L - salad chicken avo poached egg
D - bolognaise with courgette spirals

2.5l water

SayrraT · 22/11/2017 20:45

Yummy chicken with cauliflower and celeriac mash (just had a wee bit of celeriac left) and green beans (3.5g carb).

BIWI · 22/11/2017 20:51

@Jerm123

Hello all, I wonder if anyone can help? I started off well and lost 10lbs ( including first week whoosh) by week 3. Since then, I’ve stuck at 200lbs. I’m desparate to loose 4lbs more by Christmas and think I must be doing something wrong. The only things I sometimes do ( not frequently) are not have enough vegetables, or water. I try to drink 3l of water a day, as well as coffee and tea, but have only managed 2 a couple of days

Drinking the water is really important - honestly!

Today I have had:
B Coffee with cream and a small handful of hazelnuts.
L Chicken in a homemade lemon/butter sauce on a bed ofspinach.^
S homemade celeriac and celery soup - made with chicken stock, shallots, celeriac and celery.- currently cooking.

This all sounds lovely! The one thing I'd suggest, though, is cutting out the nuts and having something more substantial (but low carb) to eat for breakfast. Nuts can get very carby very quickly.

If I am hungry during the day I snack on cheese cubes and nuts.

If you're still getting hungry at this stage (and I'm assuming you started at the same time as everyone else), then this is a sign that you're not eating enough fat. And possibly even not enough protein - looking at your meal today.

I will have had one other cup of coffee and 2 of tea by the end of the day.

With milk? If so, it might be worth dropping this.

Hi everyone,

Lovely to see the thread is still so active in week 7. A friend asked me what I was doing to lose weight and I answered "low carbing" but feel like I really should have said "getting (and hopefully giving) online support" as I honestly think that's 2/3rds of the battle. Food today:

B- a LOT of milky tea over the course of a loooong meeting
L- inside of a bacon and chicken and salad wrap, celeriac and baby gem lettuce (surprised and pleased to see it at the work cafeteria) and a boiled egg
D - 2 slices of CarbZone dark bread, scrambled eggs and avocado
S - 1 sq dark chocolate, a handful of blueberries. First I'd had in ages, and like ilove with the carrot, couldn't believe how sweet they were!

Has anyone heard from C4? I hope she's feeling better.

I'm setting some new mini goals to keep motivated. They may be a stretch in 4 weeks, especially with Xmas parties but something to aim for.

Next mini goals are getting to
11st7 (73 something kilos)
Into the 150s - 72.something kg
Healthy BMI top end - 71 kg

Take care everyone.

Jerm123 · 22/11/2017 22:02

Everyone, Thank you all so much for your help. My plan for the next week, to break the sts status.

  1. cut out all snacks
  2. cut out nuts for breakfast
  3. make sure I drink 3 bottles of water per day ( each bottle is a litre)

I don’t think I can give up milk in my coffee, but I will switch to double cream and hope the combined impact of all the above will start the weight shifting again. I can switch to fruit teas.

I will report back to see if it works. Again, thanks for the advice and support.

HolgerDanske · 22/11/2017 22:20

Hi all! Lots of inspiration on this thread and the positive vibes a great! Smile

Just wanted to say to scabbers as far as I understand it there’s no need to cut down on animal fats for the purposes of cholesterol levels. I would just keep going as is and see how it goes. If you want to do something to counteract any potential ill effects (I don’t think these are likely but that’s another discussion) I’d suggest building a weekly 24 hour fast into your routine, as that is supposed to work very well.

Also on georg jensen and gift for your daughter, if you’ve not got it already, I got some notification from them of Black Friday deals; just thought I’d let you know.

Thiswillbemyusername · 22/11/2017 22:40

I've had a headache for a few hours today :( not sure what that's about. I take magnesium, potassium and a general multivitamin daily.

B: Greek yoghurt
L: fat head pizza
D: fat head pizza

I thought fat head pizza was supposed to be a 'eat a couple of slices and feel full' thing. I ate the lot!

I know I've not had many vegetables today; I had a lot yesterday and I was going to have a bit with my pizza but that never happened. I have enough in the house to cram lots in tomorrow morning.

Still doing well with my water intake though I have switched back to still water as I don't think I can cope with any more of the fizzy stuff

C4rollinandventing · 22/11/2017 22:59

Hi everyone sorry I've been missing in action again - DH has lost his job, finishes at the end of Next month. To say devastated is an understatement.

Low carb has gone out the window because I'm not strong enough for this on top of the most shit year of my life, this just makes for the perfect ending. He's angry and hurting and feels a failure and I'm the most stable certain thing in his life so he takes it out on me, he will have to leave the people who he has seen every day for many more years than he has been with me and spends longer with each day. There are no access agreements or arrangements to meet for coffee, they will still be there and he will have to stay at home with me. He's miserable and I have to soak everything up like a sponge.

Life is shit right now.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 22/11/2017 23:10

I'm so sorry C4, that really is awful news. I'm sure I won't be alone in saying please stay on the thread for support regardless of what you are eating Flowers

pimmsy · 22/11/2017 23:41

@C4rollinandventing

I would say I'm thinking of you, but English isn't my first language so I'm going to say "Je t'embrasse, et je vais penser fort à toi, courage" because I mean it and it sounds more authentic to me this way.
It means, I embrace you and am thinking of you, have courage.

What is happening to you and your husband is shit and unfortunately, there is no other way to put it.

But you are strong. They may have known him longer but that means nothing. You are the one he has chosen to fall asleep and wake up to next. You may have to be a sponge for a while, but don't forget, sponges are pretty amazing and sponges are strong and versatile.

Take care.

Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Still with us?!
Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 23/11/2017 00:17

Jerm123 dont panic to much look for nsv and remember the body stalls and retains water in fat cells. Then after a while it decides flush out the useless cells and a whoosh happens. So KOKO

Onederland is not far away.

I m In Winnipeg central Canada.

Yolo was going to say something to you but forgot will review thread tonight.

C4 yeah you're alive and fighting. DH has way to much managerial skills to be out of work long but here's hoping it is not a massive move to land the perfect role. Does he have a healthy network of friends to help get him over the stress losing job almost losing you and all the other scary thoughs he must be having.. it would be an absolute nightmare if that happened to me right now. Just sold house and don't have 1 to go too. Job loss would scupper buying anything.

YoLoElfSocks · 23/11/2017 00:26

C4 So sorry to hear about DHs job. Sending you hugs too. I love the sentiments from pimmsy and grah and they speak for us all here I'm sure. Stay strong and gather your wonderful family round you as you and DH both need their support right now.

Rshard · 23/11/2017 04:35

Sorry c4 to hear about your dh’s job, rubbish news. I also echo pimmsy and grah’s sentiments.

Lovely mimosa that your friend asked about your weight loss. I like the idea of more mini goals, I’m going to set some too, they’ll help keep me going to the end of boot camp and until the next one starts
