Good morning Flowers

So the last thread reached 1000 posts. I don't think that's ever happened on any other Bootcamp! It's a really good sign that everyone is engaged in the process, even if it's not always been from a positive place. If things aren't working for you, please keep reading and posting - even if you just lurk, hopefully the support and advice here will be helpful for you.

But it's a glorious day again, and the sun is shining brightly already and the birds are singing their hearts out. I hope that this translates into positivity and optimism for all of us this week - even if you've been struggling!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

We're past the dreaded weeks 4 and 5 now, so hopefully things will start to get going in the right direction, and you should see the weight move downwards - assuming, of course, that you aren't cheating or allowing carb creep.

Good luck everyone

Nasch mine feel like that too. I have continued with Zumba since BC and been fine but walking quickly up stairs makes them hurt Confused

I just had an amazing reflection. I just ate one and a half pieces of 81% chocolate and thought hmm that was quite a lot of chocolate. Then I remembered when I was given a box of posh chocs and sat in my bedroom watching tv and eating the whole box. I literally can't imagine wanting to do that now. I can't remember what the draw was to doing that.

L238 · 22/06/2017 22:02

Ugh, I'm feeling gross and demoralised.
Was ok with being up 3lb after a few days with some off plan food but weighed this AM and up 5lb Sad meaning I've only lost 2lb for the entire BC.
I know it's probably water retention (plus body fat % is still down) but I feel crappy and bloated and rubbish.
Today's been on plan but probably not enough veg. Have hardly been hungry either.
On the body positive note- I've always had quite good cheekbones, makes me feel like I have a less fat face

Mandelinka · 22/06/2017 22:11

FinallyHere well done on KOKO, great post. Enjoy the rest of your holiday

stuntnun
^^
We do get people on Bootcamp that are restricting themselves to e.g. 1200 calories per day and that can slow down weight loss by reducing metabolic rate^^
Is this the reason we need to load up on fat? To keep our metabolism fast and burning our fat reserves? Sorry, it was never clear to me why we need to use so much butter

c4 so sorry to hear you are in lot of pain, have been thinking of you throughout the day, hoping you are not suffering too much today and there is somebody checking up on you Flowers

lurknolinger · 22/06/2017 22:24

Stuntnun I hope your sports day roast chicken picnic was good! I have your oven failure to thank for saving me from taking a trip into carby twatdom today! Grinafter a very long bad day I was in no mood and too late and tired to cook so rang my husband on the way home to say we'd be having a takeaway, I heard myself say 'let's have dominos as I can have the meatballs and chicken wings so can stay on track!! If I hadn't seen your post yesterday I'm sure that wouldn't have happened. It was tasty too, and I'm so grateful that you switched the wrong oven on Grin as I'm over the moon that I've managed to stick with LC today, so thank you.
Thanks to everyone else too for all your posts, photos etc I read all the threads and am so motivated inspired and humbled by all you lovely ladies. It's lovely to be amongst such a great bunch of friendly helpful people

HemanOrSheRa · 22/06/2017 22:25

Evening all! You are all doing so well.

C4 you are an amazing woman. Really, I don't know what else to say. You just are Flowers. I wish I lived closer to you, I'd be round like a shot. I'm in the SW though. .

Ragz those photos are EPIC!

I'm cross with myself. I've been weighing when I promised myself I wouldn't. The scales aren't moving at all and I feel and think I look lumpen and fat again after the initial weight loss. No one has noticed I've lost some weight. I've been lazy exercise wise due to the heat after a great start with C25K.

I'm not tempted (too much) by carby stuff because I feel so much better and I've lost that constant HANGRY feeling, it's gone completely which is a Good Thing. I haven't cheated at all. But I'm struggling with the lack of downward movement on the scales. Gah! Shall I hurl the scales out?!

Mandelinka · 22/06/2017 22:39

c4 challenge
I like my hair, it's always been healthy and thick. Every Haidresser always compliments on its condition Grin. Also have good cheekbones and lovely slim calf and ankles Wink

kermit your legs are fabulous!
ragz great progress, well done

Mandelinka · 22/06/2017 22:50

Food:
S: last bit of my mackerel mayo dip, celery, radishes. Green tea
L: leftovers. Broccoli and cauli rice, roasted chicken drumsticks, dosed in oil. Was very tasty and very filling
D: leftovers again, last bowl of my veggie soup ( sw. potato, spinach, celery, creme fresh). Cheese + salami roll up.
Almond butter as a treat. Few berries with cream

Water. Hard going today, about 2.5 l
10.5k steps

OldBooks · 22/06/2017 22:50

Evening all, I had no access to my phone today and missed checking in on the thread! Just caught up with you all.

C4 hope you are feeling better and do let me know if you need anything tomorrow. Would love to have a picnic in your garden and cuddle your giant bunny!

For your body positivity challenge: I have nice hair and a pretty face

I have been having a strange week. Stressful and busy at work (though I know several of you are HCPs so I feel I can't complain about long days or stress!) And DD1 is having rubbish bedtimes so by the time she finally goes to sleep I am exhausted and cba to cook much or prep for the next day. So i have ended up scrabbling about to get enough fat in. I have also been feeling very tired, with sick & dizzy spells & headaches. I blame the heat, lack of fat and lack of salt. I was trying to reduce dairy but felt loads worse for the 2 days I managed without, I think because I wasn't getting the fat elsewhere.

Anyway I will KOKO and try again to reduce dairy from tomorrow. I am itching to weigh myself but I doubt I have lost anything and I don't want to disappoint myself. My loss seems a lot slower than some of you so another incentive to be more careful with the dairy.

nekobus · 22/06/2017 22:52

C4 challenge I liken my smile, my very thick hair and my waist which even when obese is still there. Used to have a flat stomach too but 2 kids have put an end to that!

Ragz what brilliant photos! Well done.

I'm still hovering around the same 185 pounds which is frustrating but not totally unexpected as I'm not doing my weekly insanity class or any other decent exercise. I have a wedding to go to in 6 weeks and I'd really like to shift some of my belly and thighs before then.

Sunborn · 22/06/2017 22:57

I bought myself a few cheap bits in the sale today, which I'm saving for a reward for when I finish Bootcamp.

I pathetically enjoy looking at them in their little box.

(Even worse is that the wrapped one is a present to myself from last year, to reward myself for weight loss that didn't happen. Hopefully I'll be unwrapping it soon).

Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp chat - and we reach the half way point!
ChesterDrawers · 22/06/2017 23:07

Ooh Suborn what's in the package? I'm intrigued now.

I really didn't want to go to my circuits class tonight but DH made me and I feel so much better for doing so. I really enjoyed it.

Had a slice of flax bread with almond butter on before I went then more flax bread thick with butter and pate when I got back. Feeling nice and chilled now.

I've been trying to think of something for C4's body challenge all afternoon and genuinely can't come up with anything. There's literally nothing I like about myself and can't remember ever getting any compliments either. That's made me feel a bit sad and has definitely highlighted something I need to work on. Where to start though?

OldBooks · 22/06/2017 23:16

Chester doesn't your DH compliment you? Or if he does do you just dismiss it as you don't believe him?

styledilemma · 23/06/2017 00:33

I like my arms and have long slim legs.
It's the bit in between that's the problem. Hmm
Come to think of it, I used to have a naturally small waist, which is finally reappearing. Thank God.
Oh I forgot, I have small, dainty, non-sticky out ears. Always liked them! Smile

styledilemma · 23/06/2017 00:35

Oops that doesn't sound right Grin

What I meant was,
my arms are alright and my legs are alright, it's the rest of my body (in between arms and legs) that's overweight and I don't like.

That's better.

readyforno2 · 23/06/2017 00:45

C4 Challenge..
I'm struggling ATM to be honest. I guess I would say that I'm really pleased with the fact I can still plank for 45 seconds and have retained fair bit of strength from when I was training (hard) a few years ago.
Also, I love my natural hair colour, proper ginger! stupidly I dyed it a few months ago and I'm hating the colour at the moment

Veryflummoxed · 23/06/2017 05:08

I feel like all of you are up North to me but I bet some of you must be West Country?
I am

C4pinkwheels · 23/06/2017 05:12

Loving reading your body challenge answers, for anyone struggling dig deep, think of bits that give you pleasure, do you enjoy looking at flowers, reading, art, can you knit, sew, paint, draw or are you like Jiminny and love your brain.

We're not far off creating one hell of an awesome woman if we stick all the bits together.

I had a tortuous afternoon and evening, I stupidly decided that I needed to have a proper cooked meal, not thinking about the consequences of preparing food and clearing up afterwards. I knew I could leave the dishes but still had to clean up food scraps, put stuff back in the fridge etc. I did enjoy my mince, cauliflower, cooked with Smoked paprika with cream added at the end. Had it with tenderstem broccoli and courgette. It took me three hours to cook and it really wasn't worth the effort. But I wasn't a carby twat.Confused
Didn't really enjoy it because I was in so much pain by the time I finished cooking it. I then had the awful ordeal of getting ready for bed but had to sleep for an hour first. Not my finest moment looking back on this afternoon and evening.
I'm awake now having a break from the ventilator while I rehydrate, it drys out my mouth to the point of my lips being stuck to my teeth and because I can't cough my suction machine is my best friend at night, the deep breathing the ventilator gives me tends to loosen lots of secretions which only come out with suction - it's disgusting. But I bloody love my suction machine.

Let's organise this Midlands meet up sometime soon.

OldBooks · 23/06/2017 05:25

Morning C4 I am up with Dd2 who will not go back to sleep and who has puked and filled her nappy so early morning secretions here too!

Anyone know if we can do a group pm to organise a date?

AdalindSchade · 23/06/2017 06:17

Morning folks
I like my hair a lot. It's thick and soft and long. I like the colour (henna not natural). I have lovely eyes and a generally nice face. My bum is curvy and my legs are slim. boobs, belly and hips are awful

littlebillie · 23/06/2017 06:33

Okay ideas ladies eating out in Italy I need a plan for my holiday what should I have?

AdalindSchade · 23/06/2017 06:43

Lots of avocado and mozzarella salads!

YoLoZammo · 23/06/2017 07:06

Adalind Main meals for Italians are mostly meat and veg. Pasta is a starter (of many courses) and pizza is primarily American!! I.e. produced for tourists. So it's quite easy to avoid pizza and pasta if you were worried about those. Gorgeous slow cooked pork, lamb chops, steaks, fish, etc will be in every restaurant (except maybe a pizzeria). And salads. Lovely salads with salami and cheeeeeeese.

Also, loads of other food available. When I last went to Italy, there were Indian, Chinese, Lebanese, French restaurants. And the usual McDonald's, etc. If you are self catering, visit a street market. The fresh produce there will be to die for. Not always pretty like Tesco veg, but oh the flavour!!!
If you are in a city, expect a very wide range of eateries, more touristy places by the sea will cater more for the usual Brit palate (chips with everything). But the fish will be amazing.
Whereabouts are you going?

Mouseface · 23/06/2017 07:07

Hello

Could I join your Bootcamp please? Carbs hate my body, but my body LOVES carbs!

I drink water throughout the day, starting off with green tea and lemon. I've been struggling to eat with this heat, so I've been picking at cooked chicken, carrot sticks, grapes etc and I always eat before 8pm, plus we always cook from scratch, no processed foods wherever possible.

I'm disabled so kick ass exercise is out other than a gentle walk with my crutches or some stretching with very light wrist and ankle weights.

I LOVE cheese hence the nickname but have really cut down on that! I take a lot of medication that slows the metabolism down and also makes me, ahem, constipated Blush

We also have a disabled little chap who needs either myself or DH to be with him 24/7 when he's not cared for at school. We've got a DD who's just finished her A Levels, next stop Uni hopefully.

Well enough of my waffle, I'm going to read back and try to pick up some pointers.

Back soon, Mouse Smile

YoLoZammo · 23/06/2017 07:09

Hi Mouse. There is some great info on the bottom tabs of the spreadsheet of loveliness linked in the OP. Otherwise known as the Boot camp Rules. If you stick to the rules, which are very simple, then you WILL lose weight. And loads of clever people are here to answer all your questions.

NamelessEnsign · 23/06/2017 07:25

Hi all. Just wanted, to say thank you for the thread and support so far especially this week after the wedding wobble. The +3.5lbs fell right off with some hard work and I lost another 1lb today, taking me to my lowest weight since Dec 2014, before I was pregnant with DC2. BMI is in the 24s too!

So I am committed to the next five weeks! My additional challenge is to add back in cardio (I have been ill and struggling with tiredness) as well as some basic body weight exercises. I want to get my tone back too!
