SayraT · 23/04/2015 08:05

We filled up the last thread and we still have 3 weeks to go until the next official BC so here is our new inbetween BC thread.

Link to previous thread

So, I was good yesterday and now all of my confessions are lost on the previous thread Grin but I am going to carry on with daily weighing and food recording so this morning I weighed 225 lbs.

nappy

BIWI when you say week 3 do you mean for weightloss at the end of week 2/start of week 3 or end of week 3/start of week 4?

This, together with your very detailed weighing, and frequency of weighing, suggests to me that you are in danger of becoming a tad obsessed with all this!

Relax.

What I mean is that it's often the case that after the first week and after the second week, most people have lost a reasonable amount of weight. But after the third week, sometimes after the fourth week and occasionally after the fifth week, they see no loss.

BIWI · 29/04/2015 19:34

Heman it's entirely up to you what you want to do when we start.

All I'd say, and I'll say this to all of you who are on this thread - please, please, please, if you join the Bootcamp thread and you're not doing strict Bootcamp, can you refrain from talking about what you're eating if it isn't Bootcamp? For any newbies it's very, very confusing!

HemanOrSheRa · 29/04/2015 20:35

Thanks BIWI! It is a bit like herding cats for you, isn't it Smile!

BIWI · 29/04/2015 21:02

You might say that. I couldn't possibly comment. Wink

Gcalgske · 29/04/2015 21:25

Today:
B: BPC
L: mug chicken bone broth, chicken wing meat (from the wings I used to make the broth) with mayo and tiny bit shallot/tomato . Served on cucumber slices like crackers
D: hache steak cooked in butter with curry powder roast cauliflower (in coconut and olive oil).

nappyaddict · 29/04/2015 22:24

gcalgske what is hache steak?

biwi thankyou for clarifying. i know weighing more than once a day isn't really the done thing but I wanted to try and work out what my natural fluctuations are and get my head around what is normal for me. i have ASD so do like collecting information and data and seeing patterns in it. I also struggle to read between the lines and need things spelling out very specifically and literally. thankyou for being patient and explaining what you meant about weeks 3-5. on BC is weigh in day the last day of the week (Sunday) or the first day of the new week (Monday)? sometimes people can get impatient with me cos they think they have answered my question about something but to me they haven't quite answered it so I might ask a similar question over and over. to me it is a different question but I can imagine other people thinking I've just answered that!

nappyaddict · 29/04/2015 22:30

gcalgske oh and where do you buy them from as have never seen them before.

Gcalgske · 29/04/2015 22:42

I got them from an online company called muscle foods included in a steak box I was ordering. They are essentially a posh burger - just chopped steak formed into a patty. It was nice but wouldn't rush out and buy them again. X

trashcanjunkie · 29/04/2015 23:13

Hi all. Have been fucking utterly wiped out by going down to Poole for a night (14 hour round trip)

Literally slept every second I could since Sunday. 'Woke up' today and been back on wagon since Monday ish. Bloody scales out of battery so will have to hang on til I can weigh. Now I must really focus on my veg and protein portion sizes cos that's my area of weakness. And I can't believe I'm saying this, cos you all know what a water fascist I am, but yes I'm struggling with my intake.

Had a fantastic breakfast at a proper paleo cafe this morning. Eggs scrambled in coconut oil and butter on top of pea shoots and spinach, topped with smoked salmon and as I'm swerving coffee they did me a bulletproof earl grey tea!

nappyaddict · 29/04/2015 23:17

gcalgske you could probably make something very similar out of steak mince.

readyforno2 · 29/04/2015 23:17

I can't believe how quickly these threads fill up.. No time to read it all. Will do tomorrow when I've got a cup of tea.
Just here to shout my shit..

B - Philly wrapped in ham (I know processed shit but no time to make eggs)
L - pork loin fried in butter, salad
D - ribs with salad and loads if mayo

E - 1hr personal trainer

Couple of cups of tea with cream and a crazy amount of water. Stopped counting at 8 pints. Does anyone else find it so much easier to drink more water whilst at work?

CrabbyTheCrabster · 29/04/2015 23:22

nappy most people weigh on a Monday and enter their weight into the spreadsheet. So you would weigh on your first morning (Day 1) of BC, and then every Monday morning thereafter. Therefore the 'Week 3 Stall' would show as no weight loss at the beginning of Week 4 (measuring the previous week's loss). Does that make sense?

Obviously some people weigh more often than weekly, and many people weigh daily. It's usually advised to always weigh yourself first thing in the morning before eating and drinking, as this is the most consistent measurement. Your weight will fluctuate by a couple of lbs over the course of the day, as I expect you've found out, as well as through the week.

Gcalgske · 29/04/2015 23:22

Oh my god! A paleo cafe. Will probably get one here in 2056.

Gcalgske · 29/04/2015 23:52

Nappy I make hm burgers just with steak mince and seasoning and I'd probably prefer a burger to these. The texture was different though, like the meat had been chopped rather than minced if that makes sense. Not bad.

Dumdedumdedum · 30/04/2015 06:41

Good morning, all! Hope everyone is doing well and KOKO!

I am drawing a veil over the last two days and starting again. Just wanted to ask BIWI, am I blind (OK, I know you can't tell that from this distance) or is there no mention of exercise on the Uber BC? It suits me not to exercise as I hate all forms of exercise anyway sprained my ankle badly a while ago and still can't walk properly, so can't even take the mad dog for a walk at the moment. But is it part of LCBC in some form, please?

Wishing everyone a good day! FlowersFlowersFlowers

Romeyroo · 30/04/2015 07:21

Scales have gone back down after bouncing around - one pound above goal weight again - I was there about a week or so ago. Really hoping it is not an abherration again, I feel like everytime I am nearly there, I go up pound or two (or in the case of yesterday, three!). I really want to be stable at, or slightly below, goal weight before I consider myself in maintenance.

I got my first 'have you lost weight?' question yesterday - after six months of doing this!

Exercise - for the first few months I was doing this, I really couldn't fit exercise in at all, so the WOE does not rely on it to lose weight. I started consciously adding in exercise when my work schedule freed up a little, but I am talking parking the car 15 minutes away from the office and walking type of exercise, not going to the gym or serious exercise, which I still don't have any time to do. Today, I have to get to a course in another building which is about half an hour away, so I am going to walk the distance. It means an hour out of my working day, but I got up early to work the last couple of mornings, so not stressing about it.

nappyaddict · 30/04/2015 07:35

CrabbytheCrabster thankyou yes that makes sense :)

TheHappyCamper · 30/04/2015 07:39

Wow a Paleo café! There is absolutely no chance we would get one of those out in the sticks here. I feel lucky that we even have a health food shop! Was that in Poole? (Shame Poole is only 6 hours away).

Nappy/Glaske - We were in France last summer and had lots of steak hache on the bbq. They are very like a burger, very finely minced/chopped beef. No crap in there Grin. Also, nappy, ASD aside, I really don't think you should weigh yourself several times a day. That can't be good for morale. Try to limit it to once each morning if you can.

BIWI - I promise not to post on the bc thread if I go off track. I realise it must be a nightmare for you to keep everyone on the straight and narrow. I also read quite a lot of the previous bc threads before I started and you are right it would be very confusing for newbies.

nappyaddict · 30/04/2015 07:40

I am on week 4 day 3 so glad this is normal. Until I get to at least week 7 day 1 i am going to weigh weekly.

nappyaddict · 30/04/2015 07:43

PS BIWI do we know why this week 3-5 stall happens or have you just noticed that it does?

Also I know it is normal to stall around TOTM but what about around ovulation?

SayraT · 30/04/2015 08:03

nappy when BC starts BIWI will post all of the rules and explain what happens on BC like when to weigh etc so you might find that once it has been laid out like that it is easier for you to follow. You could print off the list of instructions and explanations and pin it up somewhere so you can refer back to it.

It is fine weighing to find your daily/weekly fluctuations but you seemed to be questioning how it was possible that you had put on weight. That is what concerned us. It is fine to record daily weights etc and see what happens (I do it) but you sounded worried that you had 'gained' 2 lbs. That indicated that you thought you had put on 2 lbs rather than it just being one of those things.

Most people weigh on a Monday but your weigh-in day can be whatever day you like, just make sure it is the same day each week.

Well done Romey Grin that is fantastic! I am sure you will get there very soon.

Dumdum there is no need to exercise on this WOE if you don't want to. Losing weight is down to diet rather than exercise though exercise can obviously make you more toned and lean. You might fine that once you are properly adapted to this WOE that you have more energy and want to exercise?!

Wow! A paleo cafe!! Make notes trash so we can all open our own Smile

Yes, just to back up what BIWI said about not talking about non-BC meals/food etc please don't! You wouldn't join slimming world and then follow weight-watchers instead so please don't join BC and follow another LC plan which is different to BC. It makes things very confusing and then BIWI spends her time explaining why we can't eat fruit etc but other people are.

I think it would be fine to say "non-BC approved food" or something when listing out meals if you wanted to acknowledge that you had gone off plan but still wanted to record foods etc.

It is a hard one as sometimes it can be useful to talk about why you ended up eating something non-BC but at the same time you have to be aware that you might set off cravings in someone else. It can also be confusing if you have one person with a high carb tolerance who says "oh, I still have toast in the morning and I've been losing weight" then new BCers think oh, I can have toast too and then complain that they are not losing weight. We explain why (probably the toast) and they say "but X eats toast and loses weight so its obviously not that" it can be very frustrating.

Sorry, I appear to have gone off on a wee rant Blush and since none of you do any of these things then it doesn't really apply! Just getting my frustrations out before BC starts!! Grin

Food Yesterday

B: Sausages (x2)
L: Ikea meatballs with asparagus and broccoli, ff yog with berries
D: Bratwurst (x3)
S: Mini choco (6g), brazil nuts

E: 1 hour riding

Shit!! I've just realised how crap my food was yesterday! So much processed stuff and not enough veg Blush I need to get that sorted and also get rid of the mini choc bar for proper BC.

justonemorethread · 30/04/2015 08:25

Thanks for your reply Biwi, hadn't even thought that tofu may have carbs, was countng it as protein.
I snacked because I thought I was 'supposed' to! I have a colleague who gave me another low-carb plan which I read at the same time as joining this thread and it confused me, as it includes snacks.

Also I needed to because I guess my portion sizes were not big enough, or with enough fat.

However it would be nice not to have freshly cooked bread buns wafted under my nose on my return from work when I am at my most tired and likely to crack!!!

Well done everyone, and really interesting to hear other people's experiences.

Not much chances of a paleo caffe here in Africa!

Dumdedumdedum · 30/04/2015 08:27

SayraT Thank you, that's really good to know.

nappyaddict · 30/04/2015 08:37

SayraT or BIWI i know wecare not meant to be hungry all the time on this WOE but roughly how long should a meal keep us full for?

SayraT good idea about pinning up the rules.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 30/04/2015 09:16

^ This!!

Well said Sayra - perfectly put with the slimming world/ww analogy.

It is a hard one as sometimes it can be useful to talk about why you ended up eating something non-BC but at the same time you have to be aware that you might set off cravings in someone else. ^ And this!! Grin
