We filled up the last thread and we still have 3 weeks to go until the next official BC so here is our new inbetween BC thread.

Link to previous thread

So, I was good yesterday and now all of my confessions are lost on the previous thread Grin but I am going to carry on with daily weighing and food recording so this morning I weighed 225 lbs.

nappy once you're used to the low carbing, you should find that your need for snacking reduces - so often people will find that their meals keep them going until the next one: breakfast until lunch, lunch until dinner. If that isn't happening, then look at whether your meal is large enough and containing enough fat to keep you satiated until the next meal time? If you are eating enough volume and fat with your meal and you still need a snack, then go ahead and have one (as long as it's low carb, obviously). This WOE is not about being hungry.

minibmw2010 · 30/04/2015 09:24

I found last week I'd sometimes want a snack so a lump of cheese with some mayo or a slice of palma ham and mayo would do it. But mainly I upped the size of my main meals (which I thought were HUGE anyway, what a bonus) and that seems to have curbed it for me. I've definitely upped my water as well and thankfully that all seems to be keeping it at bay. Good luck nappy finding what works for you.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 30/04/2015 09:31

Also I know it is normal to stall around TOTM but what about around ovulation?

Varies from person to person I think and how affected they are by their menstrual cycle. If you like your stats and recording then why not monitor your weightloss in relation to your cycle and see how it affects you?

My food yesterday
Brunch: Crustless quiche lorraine with a bit of salad and few cherry tomatoes
Afternoon: Berry almond crumble with clotted cream. Goats' cheese and olives.
Dinner: Stir fried veg (fennel, mixed mushrooms, broccoli, spring onion, ginger) with beef and prawns. Egg fried cauliflower rice.

If you're eating low carb, it should be high fat. It's the fat that keeps you satiated. But the other factor is that once you're 'in the zone', as it were, your blood sugar levels will be stable which means your hormones (insulin, grehlin and leptin) will be balanced. These hormones are what control your hunger levels - when they are balanced, you won't be hungry. Which means that in between meals you really shouldn't feel the need to snack

Obviously as mealtimes approach you'll get hungry.

But this appetite suppression is one of the key benefits of low carbing, and you'll find that it helps to keep you on track - because you just won't be hungry.

I even find myself forgetting to eat sometimes - something which would never happen if I was counting calories!

BIWI · 30/04/2015 10:27

Sayra great rant post! Grin

Morning All - well today is the long awaited holiday.

8 hours at work to get through, then off to hotel at Newcastle airport ready for an early morning flight.
we are going to an Italian restaurant in Ponteland tonight and I've checked out the menu, chicken stuffed with mozzarella with mushroom cream sauce. usually comes with steamed rice but I'm going to ask for a massive salad with no dressing and just olive oil instead.

KOKO this week ladies - will be back in a week Smile

minibmw2010 · 30/04/2015 14:00

Just had what felt like a massive lunch, but in reality was a big handful of salad leaves, half an avocado, some palma ham, cheddar, drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a big dollop of Mayonnaise. Delicious .. Dinner of high fat bolognaise with pancetta cubes in the slow cooker, though I did use an onion as DH likes it. I also used the Sainsburys Chopped Tomatoes as it was mentioned to be among the lowest in carbs. He'll have spaghetti and I'll have buttered courgette and some extra cheese. So I guess my carbs will come from the onion plus the tomatoes?

plumstone · 30/04/2015 14:26

Could some let me know the story about Celeriac please? I feel I should avoid it for being too carby but it is also a veg I am confused

So far today;
B - one pot FF greek yogurt
L - Leeks and onions fried in butter, mashed celeriac with butter and cream all mixed together, with a tad more cream - totes yummy in my tummy Grin
1.5 liters of water so fat and another litre to go between now and 10pm
dinner - chicken and leek pie sans pastry (so really just chicken and leek in a creamy sauce) with peppers and green beans

HemanOrSheRa · 30/04/2015 14:31

Celeriac is fine plumstone Smile. Tis on the 'allowed' list.

BIWI · 30/04/2015 14:34

plumstone - all veg has carbs! But they are the carbs that we need. As long as you avoid the carrier veg, like potato, sweetcorn and beetroot, most veg is OK.

And celeriac is one of the good guys! It's really low.

Here's an interesting post about it

HemanOrSheRa · 30/04/2015 14:42

I like steaming celeriac with some cauliflower then mashing them with butter, cream and maybe a handful of cheddar. Any leftovers are delicious fried in butter as a sort of hash brown.

BIWI · 30/04/2015 15:18

There are some lovely celeriac recipes on the Bootcamp recipe thread as well.

My favourite is celeriac tartiflette, which is a baked feast of celeriac, shallot, bacon/lardons and Reblochon cheese.

StuntNun · 30/04/2015 15:26

My toddler ate my pork scratchings! Dammit I have to pay £1.15 a pack for those.

Fatstacks · 30/04/2015 15:44

Shock Stunt mr porkies 10p a pack 2 quid a sheet in Jack Fulton, I know they have .5 carbs but for value volume they are great.
Also 50p for the polish sausage, for emergency crisps.

Beyond my holiday is 4 weeks away and I can just about force my gardening shorts on without my george busting out Grin
I'm going to try and machine dye them so you can't see creosote stains.

Also a warning.
I went to Slimming world.
It stank of farts.
Every week Hmm

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 30/04/2015 16:05

Very proud of my tea.

Caesar salad sans croutons - salad leaves, spring onion, cucumber and tomato, with parmesan and chicken thigh. Dressing is hm evoo mayo with anchovies and garlic mixed in. It is rather tasty :)

Meals all up spout today. Managed to do ds soft boiled eggs and me some scrambled eggs before the builder turned up. Ds had half an egg so i finished those as I had made him a packed lunch and I decided cold scrambled egg would work for lunch. Scrambled eggs not completely cooked so need returning to the pan. So ended up grabbing some yoghurt for lunch instead. Going to do sausage and mash for tea but cba messing about with making mash so defrosting for ds and will reheat the scrambled eggs with the sausages Not great for nutritional value but no cooker, no kitchen bench, no sink. So whatever it is gets cooked in the microwave.

plumstone · 30/04/2015 16:29

Thanks everyone

DAMMNIT!!!!!!!!!!! First time in ages decided I needed a snack - and being in the middle of oxford street this is not usually a problem - low carving or not!! got to M&S food hall and knew there was something people were raving about wandered about like a loon for about 20 mins, and then bought prawns which went down so fast the barely touched the sides, no dip, do mayo, no nothing boy we're they dull - what I was trying to remember was pork sratchings!!! ah well next time.

Maybe my celeriac lunch wasn't enough, not like me to need a 4pm scooby snack? May keep this to a dinner option - I don't snack in the evening so this maybe the way to go - will check out the other recipes - cheers All xoxo

plumstone · 30/04/2015 16:34

BIWI - found this on the link above - think this could be my lunches for next week - no bad thing, have eaten so much traditional salad I may turn into a lettuce!!! Grin
1 celeriac
300 g chicken breast boiled
200 g mayonnaise
3 cloves garlic
salt, pepper to taste
(the quantities may vary)
Grate the celeriac, grind the garlic and mix in the mayonnaise. Add the chicken, the salt and the pepper, mix well and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Notso · 30/04/2015 16:51

Bleurgh I've got terrible stomach pains and feel really sick this afternoon.

Went for my eyebrows waxed this morning, they are a bit too straight and I think I look really cross Hmm

B- coffee with cream, tea with milk pastrami, buttered and rolled up with baby spinach leaves.

Snack tiny bag of peanuts

Nothing but an oxo drink since.

HemanOrSheRa · 30/04/2015 17:04

Fatstacks Grin. The slimming world group I went to stank of farts too. Slimming World makes you guffy. My fermenting tummy has completely gone since starting LCing. Which is a blessing for us all here Blush.

justonemorethread · 30/04/2015 17:15

I can confirm that I am most definitely less bloated and windy - and I haven't put on my usual extra kilo or two on the first day of my period!

I never thought I'd get in to any faddy diet. I really do love my food and my treats far too much, and I am the ultimate comfort eater.
However I am finding that I really put some thought in to my meals and actually enjoy them.

This morning I just didn't have enough in my fridge to create a good packed lunch so I was stuck at school all morning without options. But I was really good and bought a tuna sandwich and only eat the filling.

And it felt so good throwing the bread bun away! Like I was throwing the horrible bloated feelings in to the bin!

I guess it's lucky that I have a good work/life balance at the moment and actually have time to plan my own separate meals. Not sure I could quite manage it if not.

nappyaddict · 30/04/2015 17:29

plumstone what size are the ff yoghurt pots you have? i have some of the Total 200g ones but not sure if that would be too carby all in one go? biwi what do you think?

Wombat22 · 30/04/2015 17:29

If anyone is interested these are the ingredients for Mr Porky scratchings

Ingredients
Pork Rind, Pork Fat, Salt, Flavour Enhancer: Monosodium Glutamate, Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein, Rusk (Wheatflour, Salt), Dextrose, Colours: Paprika Extract, Ammonia Caramel

I would be careful about eating too many of them.

TheHappyCamper · 30/04/2015 17:46

Excellent day here food wise.

B: cream cheese & flax pancake, FF yog/cream with teaspoon of berries
L: 3 sausage, 2 bacon & 2 eggs, fried
D: roast chicken with skin, celeriac mash, cauli/broccoli/leek cheese

DH and DD were having loads of roast potatoes and I wasn't even 1% tempted

No snacks but my meals have been large. I have also had about 1 litre water so far (and about 6 decaf black teas).

So glad we don't all have to go to Slimming World if it stinks of farts! Grin
