Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where We Have a Decision to Make!

BIWI · 02/02/2015 07:40

Morning all.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So we've finished Bootcamp! Well done all Flowers or at least to all those who are still with us Grin

Now you have a decision to make. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish, which is more relaxed (to a degree). The rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - sorry, I don't have time to copy/paste this morning as I have to get off to work about 10 minutes ago.

But essentially it means that you can introduce nuts and berries - in moderation. You no longer have to have three meals a day. If you're not hungry, then it's fine to skip a meal - as long as you don't then dive into a pile of carbs when you get hungry! And you can have alcohol - again, in moderation.

If you're happy with the stricter Bootcamp then by all means stay on that, but please, please, please make sure that your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad. It's important that you get nutrition from these.

Or you can, if you like, do Bootcamp at the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

However

There is also something else you need to prepare for, and that is the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 slowdown!

It's something that lots of people experience. The weight loss suddenly stops, for no apparent reason. If this happens, don't worry and don't panic that you're doing anything wrong (assuming that you're not, of course Wink), just keep on keeping on, and it will get going again - albeit at a slower rate.

From here on, you should be expecting to see a loss of 1-2lbs a week.

Good luck everyone!

Chester I'll have to try boiling water as I don't drink tea or coffee and do get v cold drinking litres of the cold stuff!

cymrukernow · 05/02/2015 11:13

Chipping I think the noodles are the same ones BIWI recommended/ Eat Slim Noodles made from Konjac flour. Oddly on the packet they seem to have little nutritional value at all apart from a bit of protein and fibre!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 05/02/2015 11:17

It was a one off chipping promise. Just needed to clear my brain after ds' 2 1/3hrs of screaming at me on monday. It was the emotional crutch I needed. And tbh the moving furniture and massive house tidy up plus party set up that was achieved in less than 6hrs probably did a good job of killing me too Blush The sleep catch up was needed and evens out my sleep pattern soo much on my spreadsheet. Hmm My 'bad day' today is what my good day used to be like 2 months ago so I am doing something right. Just forget how hard I can't push myself when I feel 'well' iyswim. I am working on the balance. At least all that happened was I slept. Breathing was still happening which is huge Grin

vdibley · 05/02/2015 11:21

Could anyone give me a quick beef casserole recipe? I'm sure it's on the recipe thread somewhere, but I haven't found it. I don't need any measurements, just some ideas what to bung in. Thank you!Grin

Also, I bought my first pot of double cream last night, extra thick. What deliciousness! Sorry I've waited this long!! Not much of said pot remains...

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 11:30

sas let me know how it goes when you've made it with cauli rice Grin. It sounds nice in principal, but I can see it ending up as a cauli mushroom soup Grin

That's a tough course to have chosen isn't it!? Interior decorating might have been easier Grin

Still yes, you only die once and I've never seen 'cause of death' as 'out of comfort zone' so I think you'll be fine Wink

chester. I do drink hot water as well. It's not that I mind cold water, I like it with lots of ice, even in this weather. It's just I don't want anything to drink...I'm not thirsty. It's also not good (apparently) to drink large amounts less frequently, much better to drink small amounts often... So I try to do that. Another advantage to losing weight, I'll need to drink less water Grin

Cymru. I'll have to look up the ones BIWI uses, they start with an s. I saw some advertised the other night too, Mail Order, 'Better' something or other, but they were almost £4 per pack. Not dried though, packed in liquid. I nearly ordered them (they do rice & pasta as well) but decided I wasn't actually missing any of them, so really not worth spending £15 on them.

WireCat · 05/02/2015 11:34

For breakfast I just had 1/2 a pot of total Greek yogurt, a splash of double cream & so e cinnamon. Phwor frankly. I will be having that again.

Will have some HB eggs in a minute before I go to work.

Oh yeah I also had a cream coffee.

Lunch later will be an avocado salad.

Dinner is those low carb sausages & maybe sewed or celeriac & some buttery green veg.

ChesterDrawers · 05/02/2015 11:44

vdibley my beef casserole today consists of a leek, courgette, mushrooms, shallot, garlic and diced beef bunged in the slow cooker with a beef stock cube and a bit of water. When I come home I will reduce the liquid to almost nothing on the hob then add a big old dollop of cream or sour cream, depending on which is least on the turn and, voila, beef casserole of sorts. Veg varies from time to time but the principal remains the same.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 05/02/2015 11:46

My breakfast today was smoked salmon, cream cheese and scrambled egg, with coffee and cream

Just been for my bloods etc, phleb said protein is up in my wee. Is that normal for this woe, or a sign that i'm eating too much protein, or is it just something medical-ish?

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 12:28

My beef casserole is once again adapted from Jamie oliver.

Fry veg, celery leeks, shallots (use to add carrots) till soft. Put in a casserole dish. Add diced beef, beef stock cubes, tin of tomatoes boiling water to just cover, cook for 3 hours ish. (Old recipe I would put flour in to thicken, but I just use less water and take the lid off)

chipping I promise it will be nowt like soup! Smile
Yes course is going to be tough. I'm still in denial. LA la la. Grin

I've still not bloody eaten. I don't know how I'm not skin and bone. I really CBA eating 50% of the time.

Thumbwitch · 05/02/2015 12:31

Wotcher losers! Wink And STS'ers and everyone else too :)

Fatstacks - I did laugh at your description of yourself! I'm sure you put a smile on anyone's face who saw you! Grin

Today I had half a sausage for breakfast
Had a coffee today (a rarety) but at least it wasn't a hot chocolate. With a small amount of full fat milk (it was at playgroup so no cream option!)
Lunch was a lump of cheese, another sausage and a large bowl of Tasmanian cherries, yoghurt & double cream. Yum!
Dinner was mince thing with konjac noodles followed by a few more cherries with just double cream this time.
Not enough water again - argh!

Also started my period today. It will be interesting to see if that has had any effect on my weight at all...

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 12:36

Sorry beyond didn't see your post. I don't 100% know, but I thought you peed out protein if it was surplus to requirements? Or maybe there is another reason. Confused

Have you dared to Google it?

PseudoBadger · 05/02/2015 12:37

I have been blessed with the D&V bug. Don't want to eat now obvs, but what shall I eat when I do? Salted crisps normally sort me out.

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 12:48

Or it could have been excess vitamins!? Ignore me, lack of food might be making me delirious.

Did they seem concerned when they told you? Maybe a trip to the doc might be a good idea. Thanks

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 12:50

Hells bells.

I mean- i could have read that excess vitamins come out of your wee. So ignore me.

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 05/02/2015 13:03

You can blame chipping for the name change, it is all her fault Grin Grin

BIWI · 05/02/2015 13:57

Beyond - I Googled it for you! It could be caused by any number of things:

see here

Did they say they were going to do any other tests? Or give you any advice as to what to do? If they didn't, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

BIWI · 05/02/2015 13:58

This is where I bought my last batch of shirataki noodles from . They also sell the flat noodles, which are better as a pasta substitute.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 05/02/2015 13:59

No, she didnt seem worried at all, i said it might be my lc diet and she didnt say anything.

Just had lunch, chicken, avocado, olives, cucumber and hm mayo with green tea. Have one piece of chocolate now too

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 05/02/2015 14:00

I have psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis is on the list (basically the same thing) so could just be that. I dont feel any less healthy than usual Grin

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 05/02/2015 14:04

Or equally, it could be caused by the dmard drugs i take for it!! Win-win!

Thank you for googling btw biwi Flowers

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 14:09

Bitchy. I have my beady eye on you Hmm. Definitely witchy, perfect name :)

Sas. The proof is in the pudding photos! I don't know why I'm not skin & bone either. It's just Not Cricket is it? Pushing our bodies into starvation mode all the time I expect. Even though I don't feel hungry or like I want anything, maybe my body still interprets it as worrying?

Fatstacks · 05/02/2015 14:14

Argh I just had to eat chocolate!

My lovely DF has been in to town so he called at Holland and Barrats (for his special knee tablets aka cod liver oil Smile ) and picked up some Beyond Dark chocolate drops for me because the assistant said they were for LC diets.

We usually have coffee and cake when he calls in but last week he had to eat his cake alone so he bought me a treat.

If I don't eat any more carbs today and tomorrow will I be able to limit the damage?

And those poor people on the bus weren't entertained Grin horrified, bewildered yes but seeing me half in pjs barreling at them with ten to two tits and a poodle is more likely to cause PTSD than mirth.

Wonder if I could be sued for mental anguish Grin

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 14:19

31g per100g Fatstacks

Ouch.

Still, you know, life's short. If I could have my Dad back for a cup of tea & a treat I'd eat raw sugar and not feel bad.

Drink lots of water and move on.

Pre empt it next time by telling him you have a special treat in that you are keeping for when he comes.

I'm sure some of them are still laughing, it's all good :)

Fatstacks · 05/02/2015 14:56

10.9g per pack Chipping Sad

I didn't want to seem ungrateful, he's 73 so doesn't follow diets.
I was made up that he remembered.

I told him next week I would make him sausage sarnies he knows I can't eat bread even after having my band removed.

I'll buy him some black pudding and pork sausage from the butchers to treat him.

I've got couch 2 couch later so will try and do a bit of a jog to compensate Smile

MrsKoala · 05/02/2015 15:17

un-fucking-believable. We have had a really bad year (i've bored for england on mn about it). this sat is my birthday so we thought we'd treat ourselves to a night in a hotel (to have lots of sex - haven't had sex in just under a year since i was told i had placenta praevia with ds2). DH has bought quite a substantial amount of saucy underwear and has been 'planning' for a while.

I HAVE JUST COME ON MY PERIOD. A WEEK LATE. :(

I know this is nothing to do with BC. But i had to moan to someone.
