Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where We Have a Decision to Make!

BIWI · 02/02/2015 07:40

Morning all.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So we've finished Bootcamp! Well done all Flowers or at least to all those who are still with us Grin

Now you have a decision to make. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish, which is more relaxed (to a degree). The rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - sorry, I don't have time to copy/paste this morning as I have to get off to work about 10 minutes ago.

But essentially it means that you can introduce nuts and berries - in moderation. You no longer have to have three meals a day. If you're not hungry, then it's fine to skip a meal - as long as you don't then dive into a pile of carbs when you get hungry! And you can have alcohol - again, in moderation.

If you're happy with the stricter Bootcamp then by all means stay on that, but please, please, please make sure that your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad. It's important that you get nutrition from these.

Or you can, if you like, do Bootcamp at the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

However

There is also something else you need to prepare for, and that is the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 slowdown!

It's something that lots of people experience. The weight loss suddenly stops, for no apparent reason. If this happens, don't worry and don't panic that you're doing anything wrong (assuming that you're not, of course Wink), just keep on keeping on, and it will get going again - albeit at a slower rate.

From here on, you should be expecting to see a loss of 1-2lbs a week.

Good luck everyone!

I sts from yesterday, so for once can weigh in on a monday! Grin

219.2, 3 lbs lost in total, in 5 weeks bc. I'm happy with that :)

nowitsenough · 02/02/2015 09:28

Can I ask what you tend to have if going to the pub? We go to a dance class one night a week and the rest of the class go for a drink together afterwards, we'd like to go too, but I can't think of anything I could have other than water.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 02/02/2015 09:38

Sparkling/soda water with slice of lemon/lime?

ChesterDrawers · 02/02/2015 09:42

STS for me today, but not surprising after the quantity of wine I consumed on Saturday. Poor DH has put on 5lbs since then though, so thankfully sticking to LC food seems to have done the trick for me Grin. He was not a happy bunny this morning, but I have been telling him he cant have bread, beer, cake, crisps AND all the LCHF meals I cook too!

B: two LC sausages dipped in mayo
L: pulled pork, salad leaves, hm coleslaw, mayo, a few olives
D: Salmon wrapped in parma ham, swede mashed with lots of butter, roast broccoli

RandomHouseRules · 02/02/2015 09:42

Morning all. Well I am 1lb up since last Monday and 3lb up since Thursday but that's down to a blow out weekend. I am still down(just) overall and feel confident I can turn things around this week.

Full BC for me for another fortnight and no more weekends away!!

galbraith · 02/02/2015 09:47

Alas, I have stayed the same - probably thanks to my lunch buffet indisgression on Thursday! Plus AF has arrived early which probably doesn't help.

I think I'm going to stay on full Bootcamp until I've lost another 3lb at least, and start to note my food for each day on here at the END of each day - in full!

CharlieSierra · 02/02/2015 09:54

Haven't logged weight yet as can't decide between lowest weight of week 2 which represented a 1lb loss, or this morning's which shows an overall gain of 1/2lb. It's fucking soul destroying!!! I have not gone off piste at all, and I'm sick of the fact that in order to lose weight I basically have to stick to what is virtually uber camp - no dairy whatsoever, no recipes really as any extra 'ingredients' are out. And this is before the dreaded week 3. Sad

MrsKoala · 02/02/2015 09:59

Ahhh i see BIWI (about the 'gravy'). Usually i make it like that and then also pour a gravy over the top as well. Otherwise i find it too dry/bland. What i may do is a big roast and loads of gravy then freeze some for when i do cottage pie/chops & veg etc. I just can't eat dry food.

WireCat · 02/02/2015 10:05

ooh, ive fired up the laptop.

today im 157.75. so a total of 6lbs loss in 2 weeks.

am wearing some jeans I couldn't fit into 2 weeks ago.

Today, creamy coffee. Will have creamy scrambled eggs & fried mushrooms before I go to work.

Lunch will be avocado salad.

Dinner is steak & have over bought cream so will make cauliflower cheese to go with it.

im not going to eat nuts for a few weeks,I want to see how my weight does.

and im going back on the ipad as do not like typing on a laptop!

Thanks BIWI & Soraya.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 02/02/2015 10:07

MrsK, my dh always moaned that my shepherds/cottage pie has no gravy in it. He was always taught to make up bisto and add it to the meat

B - 2 bacon, 2 hb eggs, mushrooms, blob of my mayo :)

ChesterDrawers · 02/02/2015 10:07

Just realised I have actually lost 2lbs this week, not an STS at all Grin. Am crap at converting stones to lbs.

lurkingmurking · 02/02/2015 10:11

I am always at a PC on a Monday so am happy to update the spreadsheet for anyone who needs it

tartiflette · 02/02/2015 10:15

Well done all losers Smile

I'm not weighing in today as Saturday night was less than optimal and I'd like to give it another day before the moment of truth

However I'm entering week 4 so not expecting miracles!

Think I will just allow myself bit of wine at weekends, odd few berries here and there. I do try and stay off the nuts because I just don't know when to stop.

That diet programme I watched last night was so interesting. All of the top 10 rated countries were pretty different - Iceland: fish and dairy, virtually no vegetables, Greece and Italy: loads of olive oil, veg, fish meat but also bread and pasta, Ethiopia: almost completely vegetarian and with this whole grain stuff used to make bread/pancakes (forget what it was called) so very high fibre diet... But what they all had in common was absence of pretty much any processed food whatsoever.

Notso · 02/02/2015 10:20

Morning well chuffed as have lost another 4lb. That's 13lb off in 2 weeks. Thanks BIWI

I'm not sure if I should stay on bootcamp as I have loads to lose. That said have a very rare night out on Saturday. I will be drinking and we're going to a crappy pub to eat where everything comes with a tonne of chips and peas which I won't eat but it doesn't leave much to eat IYSWIM.
Did the 30DS this morning. I am seriously unfit and also need a sports bra!

I had a piece of roasted carrot with my dinner last night. Having not had sugar for two weeks it tasted so sweet, I was really surprised.

Raggydoll · 02/02/2015 10:32

Hi would someone mind telling me what number (grams) of carbs I should be aiming for during boot camp - I can't seem to find it in the spreadsheet. Thankyou

Mrsstevejones · 02/02/2015 10:34

ITS OFFICIAL SCALES LIE......!

I have followed the rules religiously and have had loads of fat, butter, mayo, oily dressing, avocados, fatty meats and coconut oil.

All the veg i have had is 3g or less and i have only had the occasional bit of tomato and yellow pepper.

I have cooked from scratch and kept a limit on my dairy. I only have 1 coffee a day. I have eaten sausages, bacon and pepperoni but in limited quantities. I have swigged gallons of water and used salt liberally. I have eaten enough whilst watching my portion size.

My only little naughty thing was 3 tsps of peanut butter (9.3g/100g) on a chicken satay dish and it was a marinade so i didnt actually eat it all.

Yet i am 2 fecking pounds up, meaning i am back to my starting weight on the 19th!!!!!!!!!!

Yet by my measurements i have lost 1 inch from my middle. I am wearing my size 16 velvet jeans that i couldnt button up. The arse on my size 18 jeans is saggy and even hubby said i had lost weight. My double chin is noticably less double and i can in certain lights see a hint of cheek bones. My wedding ring could fall off at any mo.

I have been reducing carbs since xmas - no obv carbs but still milk and a bit of fruit etc so i am wondering if its the dreaded week 3/4 stall. Its just so bloody disheartening. DH has also put on 2lbs but he isnt bothered.

And breathe, rant over!

MontserratCaballe · 02/02/2015 10:34

Well done to everyone who has lost and a manly pat on the shoulder to those who haven't. I am down 4lbs (but for 2 weeks as I didn't weigh last week) which is good but I did have a couple of sociable drinks over the weekend which won't have helped. I am going to continue to do BC in the week and perhaps relax a little over the weekend.

BIWI and Sayra - thank you so much for all the effort you put into this. You have completely changed the way I think about food and what we eat as a family, and I am so grateful Flowers

MontserratCaballe · 02/02/2015 10:37

Mrs Steve - you clearly have lost fat, as shown by your trousers etc. It sometimes takes a few days / weeks for the scales to catch up. Could it also be totm related? Have you had a big poo lately (sorry)? All of these things could have added to your weight. I think here you just need to keep the faith, along with the water and butter. Flowers for you too.

sassandfaff · 02/02/2015 10:41

Oh mrssteve big unmumsnetty hugs.

I put 2lbs on in the middle of last week, but was 3lbs down on that yesterday.

I wouldn't be too disheartened. You could find a pound or even 2 have gone again by tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you.

Big congratulations on getting into the size 16 jeans.

SayraT · 02/02/2015 10:46

Mrssteve does it matter what the number on the scales says if you've lost 'size'? You are wearing smaller jeans, you look like you have lost weight, you have noticed other places that indicate that oyu have lost weight?

Would you rather be size 10 (for example - obviously you will have your own target) and weigh 13 stone (ok, unrealistic) or be 11 stone and be a size 14?

Other people, and you, see the size you are, not the weight so don't worry about it. It will catch up later Grin

Well done notso fantastic!

Birdinacage · 02/02/2015 10:47

Morning everyone, congrats to the losers and Flowers to those finding it hard. I STS this week which is fine although the next stone barrier is tantalisingly close and I generally feel far more impatient when a goal is in sight than when I'm still somewhere in the middle Grin

To those who have STS, gained or are finding it slow going, I know it can feel massively frustrating especially when there are others who are losing and you have been doing everything right but try not to get disheartened. Sometimes things can take a while to get going, especially if you have previously done a lot of dieting or have underlying medical issues. It can take a while for your body to heal itself and adapt to a new way of eating, some people find there can be some time initially where their weight doesn't go down but then all of a suddenly it will start working. Obviously not every way of eating works for everyone but don't give up if you're still in the early stages and try to concentrate on other benefits you're feeling alongside weight loss if you can.

Supermum0203 · 02/02/2015 10:57

Hi SAYRA
I have changing the number into pounds.
68.1kg is 150 pounds, it has to b the same that when we started.
I have tried to open the page but nothing happens so if u please could add my weight I will b very thankful Flowers

Mrsstevejones · 02/02/2015 11:02

Ahh thanks everyone. I know it works and i know its just a number but it is a measure of success - this is why i should never have gotten the wii fit out to weigh myself - this time i wont let the scale derail me.

I know it works and i am sure its healthier so i will just koko.

Well done to everyone who has had good losses.

I dont think its totm and i am fairly regular - thank you! I am hoping its water and i shall get a lovely whoosh any day now.

It my birthday in 6 weeks and i have a dress that i am desperate to get into so i will keep that in mind - i AM NOT giving up even if i still weigh the same in March! Trying to summon the courage to start 30ds.

Happy monday everyone

Ooh tartiflette what was that programme called? Sounds very interesting!
