Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where We Have a Decision to Make!

BIWI · 02/02/2015 07:40

Morning all.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So we've finished Bootcamp! Well done all Flowers or at least to all those who are still with us Grin

Now you have a decision to make. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish, which is more relaxed (to a degree). The rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - sorry, I don't have time to copy/paste this morning as I have to get off to work about 10 minutes ago.

But essentially it means that you can introduce nuts and berries - in moderation. You no longer have to have three meals a day. If you're not hungry, then it's fine to skip a meal - as long as you don't then dive into a pile of carbs when you get hungry! And you can have alcohol - again, in moderation.

If you're happy with the stricter Bootcamp then by all means stay on that, but please, please, please make sure that your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad. It's important that you get nutrition from these.

Or you can, if you like, do Bootcamp at the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

However

There is also something else you need to prepare for, and that is the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 slowdown!

It's something that lots of people experience. The weight loss suddenly stops, for no apparent reason. If this happens, don't worry and don't panic that you're doing anything wrong (assuming that you're not, of course Wink), just keep on keeping on, and it will get going again - albeit at a slower rate.

From here on, you should be expecting to see a loss of 1-2lbs a week.

Good luck everyone!

SayraT · 04/02/2015 22:18

Sorry, no time for big reply plus I have a headache coming on so just food for today.

B: Bacon and eggs, coffee with cream
L: Tinned mackerel, lettuce, cucumber, tomato followed by FF yogurt
D: Cauli-pizza
S: Boiled egg

nowitsenough · 04/02/2015 22:41

Wow, green pepper muffins, cauliflower Pizza .. All sound great. Are the recipes on the low carb recipe thread? I had a quick look, but couldn't find them.

RandomHouseRules · 04/02/2015 23:53

Nowitsenough, they are egg muffins with spinach and green pepper. I think I nicked a recipe from a previous thread but have done a few times now so I add random veg! I have been making a few days worth in one batch and reheating each day. Some have feta. They are yum. Try googling if you can't find here. Basically fry veg, mix with egg, splash of milk, salt, pepper, pour into muffin cases and cook for about 20 mins till all puffy.

miffy49 · 05/02/2015 00:11

Chipping I wasn't criticising people who can get away with a more liberal low carb diet. There was a time when I could be much more liberal. I was merely commiserating with the others who, like me, have ground to a halt. My personal feeling is that its better to be stuck and feel OK than to chuck it all in and go back to feeling crappy!

It wasn't my intention to cause offence so I'll keep my mouth shut now!

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 00:29

Miffy ??

I honestly have no idea what you have taken offence at?

That's exactly what I was saying?

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 00:35

And actually Miffy, given my own health issues & the fact that we have discussed them and that I have been doing additional checks on my blood sugars so I could let you know about whether the total seems to affect my bloods or not. I find your post incredibly odd and rather hurtful tbh.

SayraT · 05/02/2015 07:59

I think that there has clearly been a misunderstanding, I read both of your posts in the same way. Neither of them were offensive and I fail to see how anyone could be offended by them.

It must be so much harder when you have additional heath problems that mean this WOE doesn't work as effectively for you.

I need to get organised for this evening as straight after work a friend and I are driving to Glasgow to see another friend in a show. We then driving back here, I have no idea where dinner fits in with this plan so I need to take something with me.

RandomHouseRules · 05/02/2015 08:13

Morning all. Plan for today
b: 2 egg/spinach/green pepper muffins
L: salad with avo and bacon
D: eating out and have seen a fish broth on menu that looks suitable.
More water than yesterday.
Also going to swim later.

Brrrr. Snow here this morning.

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 08:16

Morning.

I am in quite some pain this morning with my back. It was already bad Tues, sitting in a chair for 7 and a half hours hasn't helped at all.

Took codeine without food which I never do, but I cant move without pain. I'm going to need a special chair in class. Blush I said no when the lecturer offered but I can't do this week in week out.

So today I will be mostly spaced out........

CharlieSierra · 05/02/2015 08:32

I didn't read anything Miffy and Chipping except commiseration in response to my whinging - which I was very grateful for, so sorry if it was my fault Thanks

I'm working from home today so don't have to listen to the obnoxious one pontificating all day long, plus I have a leftover sausage for breakfast and I'm making Gyoza meatballs for dinner tonight, so I will be in a better mood. Smile

nowitsenough · 05/02/2015 08:44

Thanks Random, I'll try them.

Fatstacks · 05/02/2015 08:55

Morning Campers :)

Sorry for all of you who are feeling rough Flowers for all of ya.

I'm going to be extra extra diligent from now on. Still struggling with water so I need to stop slipping with that.
The young dog fucked off after a bus this morning on their walk so I had to carry old dog and run after her Angry

Trust me, no one needs to see me carrying a decrepit poodle trying to run with my slipper boots on when they are on the bus going to work.

It's just wrong.

No bra either so it looked like two twirling majorettes batons from a distance.

Poor people Sad

B. Coffee with cream.
L. Salad probably ham.
D. Fish and veg.

Have a good un :)

ChesterDrawers · 05/02/2015 09:16

Sorry Stacks but I am laughing at your majorette analogy Grin

Feeling a bit better today after a relatively good sleep. Up since 5.30 thanks DS but in that time I have sorted the dishwasher, put a casserole in the slow cooker, put away a load of washing, done lunch for work, packed my gym kit, oh and showered and dressed us both ready for the day, me with straightened hair and make up on. Ad we were also out of the house by 7.55 and on time for nursery. Feel a bit like Superwoman today.

Today's plan:
B: eggs and butter
L: avocado, parma ham, mayo, no salad as need to shop
D: beef casserole, swede mash with butter

Scales are heading in the right direction again too, so all good here.

cymrukernow · 05/02/2015 09:18

Had some of those Slim Noodles yesterday with stir fry- they are tasteless but good with spicy / salty sauce. Normally expensive but half price at Holland and Barrett at the mo.
B- smoothie with soya milk, water, 3 frozen strawberries , tsp p butter.
L- ham and avocado salad

I've dropped a lb so far this week so feeling much more positive Smile

Mrsstevejones · 05/02/2015 09:25

Sorry fatstacks but thats hilarious i nearly snorted by BPC out of my nose, such a lovely picture.

Sorry for your back sass - i used to suffer so i feel your pain. I had a folding chair insert that i used to use when i worked in an office. I did look like a bit of a knob carrying it to meetings but when my back had flared up it was worth it. I also swam and did yoga to help. I hope it calms down soon, bad backs are bastards. Sending massive sympathies.

I woke up after 9 hrs uninterrupted sleep (thanks kids) and i feel amazing! I did struggle this week but i didnt cheat even if i did eat too much and esp too much protein.

My mood has suddenly lifted and my new wardrobe doors arrived yesterday and hubby installed them so woke up to a nearly finished bedroom.

I managed to style my new hair do in a similar way to the hairdresser and my jeans are noticeably looser.

Sorry not trying to sound smug, sending positive vibes to those struggling.

Cant believe its thurs already and hubby has offered to cook tomorrow evening so might try the donor kebab fakeaway we didnt do last weekend - still keeping off the booze - i might see how long i can keep this up.

Keep on keeping on everyone

readyforno2 · 05/02/2015 10:07

I have been terrible on the thread front this week. I do apologise.

Had a bit of phone drama on Monday. Went to aerobics and my phone fell out of my pocket. Thankfully was found as it has loads of honeymoon photos and everything on it, got down to at least -11 on Monday night so when it was handed into the school office it was like a block of ice! In saying that I've been so unbelievably lucky. Firstly I got it back and secondly, after thawing and drying, it works!!
On top of all of that, my throat is killing me and woke me up through the night so feeling super sorry for myself.
Stupidly went to the trainer last night and I'm pleased to say I'm a lb down so if someone could chuck it on the spreadsheet I'd be grateful.
Wow. Bit of a moany post here. Sorry about that!

lurkingmurking · 05/02/2015 10:27

Fatstacks sorry but I am chuckling away!

Mrssteve that sounds fabulous!

Readyforno2 I've updated the spreadsheet for you - I didn't see a weigh in for last week though is that right?

I'm also challenging myself on the alcohol front I really want to get to end of February with no booze. I have a couple of social events but it should be fine.

Grub today:
B: 3 scrambled eggs with butter, coffee with cream
L: Chicken drumsticks, red cabbage
D: Lamb chops, celeriac mash, roasted aubergine
E: Spinning

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 05/02/2015 10:36

I had a shocking day, i ate but only what i was given and it is nothing that I can remember. Spent the entire day and most of the evening drifting in and out of sleep. Fibro burn out. as feeling better but not right today. I suspect that yesterday was a bad day food wise as ds sorted it and there was left over party food that is now gone. I am not going to fret and just reboot with bootcamp 2 weeks.

Breakfast: 2 sausages fried in butter and then beaten eggs scrambled with them
2 coffees have been drunk.

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 10:39

Sayra. Thanks. How long will it take you to get to Glasgow? The trip sounds like fun, but please be careful re ice/snow on your way home.

It is hard when you have health issues (as well as the diabetes I have an under performing liver, believed to be the cause) that make things move very very slowly. I didn't even get the glycogen dump this time around! But it's this or gain weight, so here I am :). As well as the fact that my bloods are so much better when I'm low carbing.

I don't know how much of my problem is 'ill health' and how much is 'non egg eating vegetarianism'. Neither help, that's for sure!

You do get a bit 'grrrrr' when you are 'behaving'/doing hardcore Bootcamp & not losing weight, and yet others are eating off piste, drinking alcohol and still losing really well.

BUT a) this thread is for everyone, not just for us with 'additional issues' and b) the losses are hugely motivational for everyone, us included. So I, for one, wouldn't want people to stop posting their losses and being excited about them. I'm quite able to be pleased for everyone else, whilst wishing it would bloody well happen for me :)

Random it's not snowing here, but I'm meeting a friend for lunch today and she sent me a message earlier asking if I was ok to drive in the snow. She only lives about 5 miles away!

Sas. Sorry to hear how much pain you are in :(. It's annoying to need a special chair and have to be 'different, when you just want to blend in, but it's better than being in this much pain. How was it other than that??

Charlie. Not your fault at all. Not one bit. YAY for no obnoxious pontification! How much longer will she be there do you think? How often can you work from home?

Fatstacks. I bet that was a picture! I think you'll have cheered up a few commuters this morning as well as all their workmates and friends and families I struggle with drinking enough water too. I usually drink a lot of water, other than the occasional cup of coffee it's all I drink really. I think I get more 'water' from my meals eating LC, and less processed stuff needing water. I hate having to force myself to drink it, but needs must.

Superwoman. Have a good day Grin

cymru. Are they the ones BIWI uses or different ones?

MrsSJ. It's not at all smug. It's good to hear about lb losses and even better to hear when someone is feeling happier/more positive :). Yay to sleep, it being Thursday, DH cooking tomorrow night & then it's The Weekend! What's not to love?!

Glug glug

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 10:46

Ready. Great news re getting your phone back/it recovering! Have you backed it up now?! Hope you feel better soon.

Lurking. It's a short month, you'll be fine! :)

Bitchy. DS is a lovely kid isn't he, bless him. Unfortunate that there's was easily accessible party food to be brought to you, but in the scheme of things not your biggest problem. Please stop pushing yourself ridiculously hard & ending up like this or I might have to send DS some handcuffs to stop you going out training so hard! Bloody fibro :(

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 10:50

mrssteve I read your post and had icecubes "today was a good day" going around my head. Grin

chipping it went well thanks. I spent the whole time out of my comfort zone but that's a good thing sometimes. The group seems like a really good one. 39 of us in total.

My codeine has kicked in, so feeling much better. Going to eat something soon.

ChippingInGluggingOn · 05/02/2015 10:54

sass. I'm glad they seem like a good group and that it was 'ok' even if out of your comfort zone. Any chance it will stop being out of your comfort zone? Enjoy your breakfast :)

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 10:56

I was a non egg eating vegetarian too chipping as eating the egg was no different to eating the meat. Smile

I still choose a vegie option a lot. I especially love mushroom risotto and absolutely anything with goats cheese.

I'm thinking about trying a mushroom risotto but with cauli rice. I still have a gorgeous recipe that I've used before.

Let me know if it's something you like and I'll dig it out and post it for you.

sassandfaff · 05/02/2015 10:59

Yes, probably after I've been a couple of more times chipping but the nature of the course (counselling) is probably going to create uncomfortable zones all by itself. Iyswim.

I'll live. You only die once, as they say.

ChesterDrawers · 05/02/2015 11:01

Chipping Grin

A tip for anyone struggling with their water in the cold. I have started having a couple of mugs of boiled water and really enjoy it. It has a slightly different taste, but is very pleasant. I can easily chugg through two cups a morning, which takes me well onto my first litre. Sounds odd, but I can recommend.
