Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where We Have a Decision to Make!

BIWI · 02/02/2015 07:40

Morning all.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So we've finished Bootcamp! Well done all Flowers or at least to all those who are still with us Grin

Now you have a decision to make. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish, which is more relaxed (to a degree). The rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - sorry, I don't have time to copy/paste this morning as I have to get off to work about 10 minutes ago.

But essentially it means that you can introduce nuts and berries - in moderation. You no longer have to have three meals a day. If you're not hungry, then it's fine to skip a meal - as long as you don't then dive into a pile of carbs when you get hungry! And you can have alcohol - again, in moderation.

If you're happy with the stricter Bootcamp then by all means stay on that, but please, please, please make sure that your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad. It's important that you get nutrition from these.

Or you can, if you like, do Bootcamp at the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

However

There is also something else you need to prepare for, and that is the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 slowdown!

It's something that lots of people experience. The weight loss suddenly stops, for no apparent reason. If this happens, don't worry and don't panic that you're doing anything wrong (assuming that you're not, of course Wink), just keep on keeping on, and it will get going again - albeit at a slower rate.

From here on, you should be expecting to see a loss of 1-2lbs a week.

Good luck everyone!

Sorry not been here for a few days.

Have poorly son.

Anyway am eating well. Just can't seem to drink enough water.

No idea what to have for dinner though as I forgot to get something out if the freezer.

prettybird · 04/02/2015 18:08

I'm making chicken noodle soup tonight for dh and ds. I'll use shallots and take out a portion for me before I add the noodles. I'll beat an egg and then swirl it through the hot soup, to give it a bit of body and protein.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 04/02/2015 18:24

Evening, been AWOL for a few days with tonsillitis - felt too ill to even mumsnet (that's when you know you're ill)
So, all I've managed to eat in the last couple of days are a few tinned soups (full of sugar I imagine) various medicines and ice lollies. Hardly anything, even water as it hurt too much.
Soooo, I think I will have to draw a line under that. DH stuck a chicken in the oven last night. I think I might make some LC soup/stock for future. Thank goodness the antis are starting to kick in. Can't say I fancy anything though.

LexLoofah · 04/02/2015 18:42

Natural sorry to hear that, yes make some bone broth with the chicken carcass, will go down nicely even if you can't face anything else and it will have some fat in/on it. Do you have a slow cooker? I stick mine in there overnight to get the maximum goodness out of the bones.

Hope you feel better very soon

tartiflette · 04/02/2015 18:44

Pseudo I was exactly the same earlier, up since half 4 and after a lunch buffet at work of entirely beige party food which I had to swerve, ravenous on way home, I got a Pepperami from the garage. Classy Grin

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 04/02/2015 18:54

Thanks Lex, yes I do have a slow cooker- great idea, never made stock in one before.

PseudoBadger · 04/02/2015 18:54

Thanks Chipping I got one of those king prawns with Marie Rose sauce (didn't have too much sauce) and a handful of peanuts. And a bottle of water.
It's tough isn't it Tartiflette! Yesterday I swerved 3, yes 3, boxes of Dunkin Donuts Shock

BlueberryHope · 04/02/2015 19:18

You are all swerving amazingly! Donuts and beige buffets - horrors! I got into a stressful work situation and had a binge. I am trying to not beat myself up over it. It was a LC binge at least - 6 squares G&B 85% dark choc dipped in thickest double cream! Then I had stern but friendly words and thought I mustn't turn this into a big deal. Feel full-ish now but not sick; if I missed dinner just because of not being hungry rather than some kind-of martyrish pun shimmery, would that be ok? Feel like this is just another diet I will fail on due to emotional eating. Sad Must remember it is a plan for life and for health...

BlueberryHope · 04/02/2015 19:19

Pun shimmery? WTAF? Punishment, obviously...

CharlieSierra · 04/02/2015 19:46

I had a shitty day at work today, I'm not feeling well at the moment due to an ongoing stress situation with a woman who is a temporary cover for a colleague on mat leave, she is genuinely one of the most obnoxious people I have ever met and it's taking its toll. I slept really badly last night because of her and this morning had to rush into a meeting with no time to eat my breakfast, ate it with my lunch salad (it was the usual avocado), but still felt ravenous by the time I got home. Just had 2 black farmer sausages with swede mash and broccoli and didn't enjoy it at all, swede tasted bitter and I'm still hungry. There is a box of chocolates in the kitchen that came free with my ocado delivery. The words don't exist to express how much I want one, think I'd better go to bed! Smile

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 04/02/2015 20:00

Dinner - 2 sausages, broccoli and cauli cheese.
2 pcs 85% choc

Almahart · 04/02/2015 20:03

I had a breakfast that I thought might be a bit carby, ff yog, double cream and frozen berries (6g per 100g)

Lunch was chicken salad
Snack pork scratchings
Dinner lc shepherds pie

My batch cooking at the weekend really paid off it was amazing to be able to get it out of the freezer and microwave it

imustbepatient · 04/02/2015 20:08

Very wise words chipping. I am going to have a good long think about what my motivation is rather than just lots of reasons.

chester good to know I have a twin out there Wink

amax I remember how hard that felt too. Wishing you so much luck.

charlie Thanks for dealing with your colleague and swerving the chocolates. Just think how good you will feel tomorrow if you manage to avoid them.

lurking Envy of your cheekbones. If I tell you that a boy at school nicknamed me chipmunk cheeks when I was a skinny twelve year old you will probably realise quite how jealous I am!

Thanks To everyone getting over bugs / with children getting over bugs or just generally having a hard hard day.

nowitsenough · 04/02/2015 20:30

I made the IPD moussaka for dinner, yummy! Smile Can't believe it says the recipe serves 2 people. We shared it between 3 and I am very full Smile Hope I haven't had too much dairy. It was the only dairy I had today.

lurkingmurking · 04/02/2015 20:36

I managed 15 minutes of Shred with Weights before DS started shouting for me!

tartiflette · 04/02/2015 20:55

Remind me what lovely things you all do with Boursin??

Mrsstevejones · 04/02/2015 21:00

Today i think i ate to much protein, still fighting and failing the desire to munch.

B-BPC
L - tuna mayo in romaine lettuce leaves served in two portions as g=first lots filled me up and i shock horror just left it rather than eating it all as i had made it. Did go back 2.5hrs later mind and finish it off.
S- 5 pepperoni slices with cheese, mayo and harissa paste
D- Green smoothie - swapped meals around due to college
S- Knob of cheese,1 marmite cheese, coffee with cream, piece of chicken left over from dinner

Thanks to whoever suggested the marmite cheese, it was something i had really missed and i couldnt think of a low carb way of enjoying it and even i am not hardcore enough to lick it straight off the spoon!! They really hit the spot and were on offer in tesco.

Mrsstevejones · 04/02/2015 21:01

sorry for typos, tired, dyslexic and a bit thick!

sassandfaff · 04/02/2015 21:36

Had a shit day today to do with eating, but not cheated.

B- 3 boiled eggs
L-100g packet of roasted almonds and dark Choc.
D- fried eggs and bacon. But ate 40g pistachios and a few pieces of cheese waiting for it to cook, because it was 8.45pm and I was very hungry! Another piece of choc.

Really need to sort out food in future for Wednesdays.

BestIsWest · 04/02/2015 21:46

Low on the fat today so just had buttered cheddar and Brie. Oh my God. It was so nice.

ChesterDrawers · 04/02/2015 22:01

Tired and under the weather here too. Working from home so found food surprisingly easy away from the almost daily beige buffets and groaning goodie table.

B: eggs in butter, bacon, mushrooms in butter
L: prawn and avocado, salad leaves, Mayo
D: pork in tinned toms (half tin), mushrooms and shallots, cauli rice with butter and parmesan

Going to bed now. Need a few early nights while DH is away.

RandomHouseRules · 04/02/2015 22:05

Just checking in with food for today.
B at 7am: 2 eggs, spinach, green pepper muffins with mayo
kept me going til almost 3 o'clock!
L: salad with an avocado and a bit of crispy bacon
D (late as DH late home): rump steak, tenderstem broccoli and mayo.

ChippingInGluggingOn · 04/02/2015 22:10

Flowers congratulations & commiserations as appropriate.

Water intake has been crap today :(. Probably a litre. Urgh.

Must. Do. Better.

ChippingInGluggingOn · 04/02/2015 22:16

Dinner was a bit of a disaster. Pub we were going to (which has lovely food, fab salads) wasn't serving food (chef off ill) so we went to the other pub. We're pretty rural, so no other choice here really. They would not mix & match any of the menu. Their vegetarian option is Butternut Squash Risotto. No salads. The person I was with has a few eating issues so I had to order something to eat. I had courgette fries and cauliflowers cheese. Pretty sure it was made with a roux and milk, but it was the best choice in a difficult situation and thankfully only a small side order. Bottle of sparkling water.

FurFoxAke · 04/02/2015 22:17

Hello all!
I've done a really stupid idiotic and downright ridiculous thing. I've got a bad head, throat and a cough today. I've eaten snacks (low carb) and drank lots of water, but I'm not hungry.
Then, and I cannot explain why except that I feel so rough I had some cough medicine. Shock and Blush and Angry
I can't believe how utterly stupid I feel. I don't normally take medicines unless I'm desperate, and I took what is basically syrup.
What do I do? Drink loads more water and be really strict for a few days?
Wwwaaaaaaiiiillll
