Week 2 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - the first moment of truth!

BIWI · 26/01/2015 07:33

Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

Wirecat I do! I dreamt I had a massive binge last week and was so relieved it was a dream!

Pisseslikeahorse · 31/01/2015 18:47

Evening all,

Bit of advice - watch out for tough pork crackling you might find that you break one of your front teeth! Sad what a f***g idiot Blush

B. 3 eggs chilli mash
L. Belly pork cauliflower mayo
D. Keema curry roast aubergine
s. pork crackling (eaten on one side of my mouth

CharlieSierra · 31/01/2015 18:56

Today's food

Brunch - bacon, 2 fried eggs
Snacked on some cooked chicken
Dinner will be burger on a roasted portobello mushroom with cheese, salad, green bean fries & hm mayo

Mrsstevejones · 31/01/2015 19:31

Good day today, just had my all my hair chopped off and highlights so feel like a new woman!

B- Bacon and Sausage x 2 with mayo. Coffee and cream
L- Green smoothie
D- DH cooking so when it eventually arrives, satay chicken with stir fried veg

Loads of water and a few coffees. Hair was long and now short so that must be worth a pound or two on the scales.

MrsKoala · 31/01/2015 19:54

Just sneaked a look at the en croute packaging and it says 26g Carbs per en croute. So if i eat half/pick off most of the pastry that should be about 13g i reckon.

Today i have eaten
B - 2 egg mushroom omelette
L - some cheese, 2 peperamis and an avocado and mayo
s - greek yog
Dinner will be half an en croute and kale

I know it's not great :(

SayraT · 31/01/2015 19:58

Oh no pisses I hope that you are ok!! I do worry that I might break a tooth when I get a really hard bit so I suck those instead Grin

Had a bra shopping trip with mum today and we went out for lunch.

B: Coffee with cream
L: Prawns in chilli tomato sauce, melanzane parmigiana - pizza express, black coffee - Hotel Chocolat cafe
D: Egg in a cup
S: Some low carb Hmm chocolate from Hotel Chocolat - no nutritional info on the label though so not sure what they consider low carb

BestIsWest · 31/01/2015 20:12

Any ideas what I can do with 9 egg yolks left over from making a pavlova? Normally I would make creme brûlée or custard but not at the moment. Pavlova is not for me obviously.

PseudoBadger · 31/01/2015 20:13

Wow Pisses that must've been some good crackling!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 31/01/2015 20:16

egg yolks are good as scrambled eggs and omlettes. I find I tend to have to stick a whole egg in with a couple of yolks though else it becomes to rich.

Not sure if there are other recipes though. I am a pretty much can't be arsed to cook none fancy food minimal effort kinda person Blush

lurkingmurking · 31/01/2015 20:18

Well I've been saved from the carby wine - 10 minutes before I was leaving DS2 cracked his head open on the fireplace. Now at A&E. He's fine but might need some glue.

BestIsWest · 31/01/2015 20:20

Might try that for breakfast then and maybe make some Mayo tomorrow.

yongnian · 31/01/2015 20:21

Oh lurking poor DS! My eldest DD did just that aged 3....heartstopping Flowers let us know how he gets on.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 31/01/2015 20:28

Will catch up in the morning, just sticking my food in...

L- tapas, coffee with cream
D- chicken thigh, fried french beans with bacon and shallots
S- two pieces 85% chocolate and a few blueberries

Mrsstevejones · 31/01/2015 20:43

Lurking - your poor son, i hope he feels better soon.

DH made chicken satay - the recipe was on Lorraine, it was stunning and he served it with stir fried spring greens, yellow and green peppers and sp onions with a dash of soy and fish sauce, delicious.

It did have peanut butter in it but i think carb wise it worked out ok. My pb was 9.7g/100g and the recipe used 75g for 4 people. I know nuts arent allowed until week 3 but i have sacrificed wine so i took the risk.

ijustwanttobeme · 31/01/2015 20:49

Not sure if this is a stupid question. Someone else asked it upthread, but I didn't notice if it had been answered.

For dinner I had, chicken thighs, chorizo, tomatoes and veges; it also had new potatoes in it and I suddenly wondered if the carbs may have 'leaked out' of the spicy beans and potatoes ...I told you it was a silly question..Blush

B: scrambled egg, chicken drumsticksx2 and a coffee
No lunch as too busy

Almahart · 31/01/2015 20:57

I had an easy day but felt a bit stodgy

B cream cheese and egg pancakes and bpc
L cauliflower cheese with lardons in
D remains of cauli cheese and two black farmer sausages
S cheese and olives

Don't feel as if I've eaten enough greenery today

EvaTheOptimist · 31/01/2015 20:57

Ouch Pisses hope your dentist can fix it.

Good luck at A&E Lurking

BestisWest the eggs would be good in a "crustless spanakopita" basically a spinach & feta bake. That was my dinner tonight. Mix up defrosted frozen spinach, with beaten eggs, feta, grated cheese, a bit of greek yogurt and olive oil; and bake. I found the recipe via google once.

Notso · 31/01/2015 21:13

lurking DS3 did that a few months back. I nearly fainted when I saw him. The glue took nearly 6 months to get out of his hair though! Hope your boy is ok.

It was me who asked that ijustwanttobeme we can be silly together! I decided not to put potatoes in my curry, as they are peeled and I think they would probably breakdown a bit and 'leak' into the sauce.

I'm going to be Envy of everyone eating nuts on bootcamp light. I love them but DS2 is allergic so we are a nut free house.

I made this Jack Monroe cauliflower passanda to accompany my our curries today. I omitted the raisins and almonds but it was lovely.
B- tea with milk
L- tuna salad with mayo, coffee with cream
D- beef curry, chicken curry and cauliflower passanda
Bought myself mascarpone and pork scratchings as weekend treats but am full.

lurkingmurking · 31/01/2015 21:24

Thanks all! Glued and steri-stripped!!

Great thing about this woe - I'm not hungry in the slightest!

PseudoBadger · 31/01/2015 21:33

I had a lovely dinner tonight of rump steak, broccoli (with butter) and BIWI's celeriac and leek mash from a couple of pages back. It was yummy.

Week 2 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - the first moment of truth!
BestIsWest · 31/01/2015 21:34

Eva, that sounds right up my street. Will rush out and get feta romorrow, I have everything else.

Notso · 31/01/2015 22:35

PseudoBadger that looks amazing.

BlueberryHope · 01/02/2015 00:19

Just quickly tracking...
B - Avocado and ham, olive oil and cider vinegar, salt and pepper. Tea with a splash of milk.
S - Coffee with cream.
L - in a rush! 4 sticks celery with pâtè and a piece of cheese...
S - little one egg omelette cooked in butter, with 1/2 chopped shallot, 1/2 tomato, handful of Parmesan
D - Pork stroganoff with chorizo, shallots, mushrooms, cream, butter, paprika, juniper berries served on courgettini (just a little bowlful as not v hungry)

Must make more things like stroganoff as DH v happy to eat this, had some spuds on the side, and did not roll his eyes at my 'faddishness!' Has anyone else over-excitedly gone out and bought some black-as-night dark chocolate for the odd square next week? No? Oh. Just me then. Oops...

Thumbwitch · 01/02/2015 00:21

I have a bad headache this morning. But it is almost certainly due to the frets because I couldn't access my past bank statements on line to complete my tax return in time. However, I think, as they don't actually want me to do one (they owe me money, not the other way around) they're unlikely to fine me.

Had steak with beans and carrots for dinner last night, and garlic mushrooms cooked in butter and cream. DH forgot and gave me chips as well but I offloaded them onto everyone else.

This morning I've had 3 babybels for breakfast but need desperately to get back onto drinking more fluid as I definitely didn't have enough yesterday.

My sleep is all over the place too - went to bed with the toddler to make sure he went back to sleep (he'd fallen asleep halfway through his dinner again ) and then woke at 11:30, but was too tired still so dozed back off until 3:45am when I woke up properly. Had a headache then as well, but thought it was just due to the frets - went back to bed around 5:30 and slept until the alarm at 7:45, but still felt horribly groggy and headachey, also stuffy nose. Gah!

Sorry, lots of SMS without much else Blush - just have to KOKO (keep on keeping on) except of course for people for whom this WOE is having adverse effects - DrDiva well done for recognising that you're slipping into the bad old ways, and yes perhaps bootcamp light will stop that? Or even just keeping your carbs to a minimum rather than disallowing them entirely? If you're not after losing weight, then you don't really need to be fat-burning; so you don't need to maintain the ketosis state, you just need to reduce your carbs overall. :)

LexLoofah · 01/02/2015 01:26
