Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

Morning all. Eventually got DS1 to bed at 2.30am. DS2 up at 4 for a feed then up at 6.15 wide awake. DH gone into work and then we will head off to PILs tomo morning.

We were on the M25 and had already been in the car for 2hrs and we could barely see for the snow. Cars were dangerously overtaking, lorries were swerving and we still had at least 4hrs ahead of us. DS2 started crying. I knew we were about 45mins from my parents, so we decided to abandon ship and head there instead.

DH surprised me this morning as faced with toast and cereal options for breakfast he opted for coffee and cream and said he would just get a carb free salad from pret at lunch. He's really enjoying this woe and is very pleased with the results. He usually has an upset tummy (pretty much all the time) but since this new regime it has really improved.

Now i just have to forage for something i can eat.

Thumb - i know the late nap rage! We also still haven't done our tax return and have just told the accountant we are happy to accept the fine. It's been too stressful to get everything sorted in time. Must do it next week tho.

Have a good day everyone. I'm taking DS1 to soft play so i can veg in the corner and pretend to be awake.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 30/01/2015 09:02

Time to prepare for stay and play, i will not be having a biscuit today! Going to take some chicken strips and celery, i think, and maybe a flask with a bpc.

Breakfast - left over chorizo style sausages with scrambled egg

Dinner tonight will be bolognese from the freezer as shopping doesnt come til the morning, with whatever veg is left over

BIWI · 30/01/2015 09:07

Made lovely celeriac and leek mash last night. Although I like celeriac, having it on its on as a mash just doesn't do it for me, no matter how much better I use. This was much better.

I used half a (large) celeriac, which I peeled and then cut into dice, about the size of an Oxo cube. I boiled the celeriac for about 15 minutes until it was soft, then added two leeks that I'd sliced up. Cooked this together for a couple of minutes until the leeks were cooked. Then you drain it, add loads of butter, salt & pepper and a generous tablespoon of natural FF yoghurt. And blended with a stick blender.

It was lovely.

Morning all, I'm ready to dive head first into a pile of carbs today.. Dh is away again after 6 weeks at home. Really going to miss him and ds(2) is just starting to understand what's going on and talks about daddy going on the aeroplane. Need to remember why I'm doing this and be strong instead of feeling sorry for myself. Anyway, moan over. Have a good day everyone

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 30/01/2015 09:23

Had fried egg, not scrambled. Was gorgeous. DH is a fab cook :)
Plus coffee with cream

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 30/01/2015 09:27

Had a weird thing last night, DS woke me up with earache so I went downstairs to get calpol, walked back up and as I was giving it to him I suddenly felt whole body exhaustion and went really lightheaded and almost blacked out. I was fine as soon as I lay back down. Could this be rated to low carbing or just a random weird thing? I drank 3l yesterday so not dehydrated

SayraT · 30/01/2015 09:34

Don't do it ready you know it won't make you feel better in the long-term and it won't change the fact that DH has to go away. It must be hard but you've done so well since last year. Don't spoil it for yourself. Flowers

Can you do something else rather than eat? I don't know what works for you but a creamy coffee and a good book, paint your nails, pamper yourself...I realise that these may not be possible with DS. Can you and DS do something nice together?

Oh no Ehric have you been having enough salt? Remember you need to add extra salt on this WOE.

Notso · 30/01/2015 09:39

Morning all Brew
Have a crappy headache today. I'm blaming not being able to have the window open at night, one of the downsides of the loft room. Well, we could open it but I'd get rained on Hmm

DD 14 made me have a little cry today. She told me it was really nice to see me taking care of myself, and that I shouldn't put myself last all the time. I was sad to think she had picked up on the way I've been feeling but she's keeping me motivated so that's a good thing. I'm going to start 30DS next week.

MrsK sounds like a nightmare journey. Hope your day isn't too challenging you must be knackered.

readyforno2 Flowers I hate it when DH has to work away. It can be such a long day on your own with little ones.

Thumbwitch · 30/01/2015 09:46

MrsK - I'm wondering about doing it late as well, since they don't actually ask me to do one (as they tell me every year!) I don't know whether or not I'd cop the fine; but I need to do it to reclaim the tax I've paid that I didn't need to. Grin

BIWI - I don't like celeriac mash by itself either, but if you mix it with swede, it's an awful lot nicer! Although the leek mix sounds good, but how does mashing leek work out? I see you've used a stick blender, but even so don't you get stringy bits?

D tonight was sausages (lamb, butcher ones, pretty solid, not a lot of rice filler!) with swede mash, beans and cauliflower. Nip of Pimms Blush but no dessert. Am slowly losing the need for sweet, hurrah! Grin

Thumbwitch · 30/01/2015 09:47

Ehric - sounds like a low blood pressure thing, might be related to low salt if you've not been having enough - can you get your BP tested?

galbraith · 30/01/2015 09:55

Had a terrible, terrible day yesterday and (probably as a result) cracked during a lunch meeting and fucked up totally Sad. Really hoping I still manage to lose a bit this week. Arghh whyyyyy!!!!

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 30/01/2015 10:02

Flowers to everyone having problems by the way, be they food related or other. Sorry, not been around much more than to post food as have had yet another assignment due!!

Mrsstevejones · 30/01/2015 10:02

Hi everyone, can i ask another recipe question..... I was planning on making a low carb fish pie tonight. Its not something i have cooked very often.

I have a fish pie mix, some raw jumbo prawns and a white fish fillet defrosting. I will use cauli for the mash topping. For the sauce i will use cream cheese, cream, a touch of lemon zest and juice and possibly a touch of mustard powder - will that be nice??

Will fry off some leeks and garlic to mix in. Any other suggestions or does that sound good?

I am a bit of a fish pie novice and scared of fish but want to incorporate it into my diet more.

Thanks

Mrsstevejones · 30/01/2015 10:05

Oh in other news, i had a sneaky mid week weigh in (i know!) and i am a pound down - yay. I have gone down a belt notch and fitted into my first size 16 - all my other size 16s are too blooming tight but its a start.

galbraith · 30/01/2015 10:35

Also - I don't know if this could be relating to LC'ing - but my period has started a full week early. I'm on the pill so not sure what could be going on. Plus I have proper painful cramps for the first time in years.

Has anyone else had this? I'm getting myself in a stew of paranoia wondering what could be the cause...

readyforno2 · 30/01/2015 10:36

I've managed to control myself. A creamy coffee sounds pretty good actually.
Dh is away till the 3rd March (better get used to it) so I've decided I want to try to lose 1/2 stone while he's away. Is about 4 1/2 weeks so hopefully I'll manage. It's so much harder when you're almost at target.
Thanks for the words of encouragement (and much needed kick up the arse). I'll stay on track. Although I am going to a 30th tomorrow evening so will be bc light this weekend.
When ds1 comes out of school I'm going to take them both swimming and meet my dm for dinner, the cd will be fine I'm sure. They're so resilient

WireCat · 30/01/2015 10:37

Hello all.

Had 2 HB eggs & cream coffee for breakfast.

Will have 2 small lunches. 1 before I go to work & 1 when I get back.

Dinner is low carb sausages, mashed swede & creamy cheesy leeks.

I'm doing ok actually.

I'm not picking between meals nor do I feel particularly hungry for snacks.

SayraT · 30/01/2015 10:48

galbraith yes, period thing can be related to LCing...but it is a good thing! Honest, your fat cells can hold oestrogen (I think) and when you lose fat the oestrogen is released so sometimes you get extra bleeding.

It was stunt that told me about this so if she is around she might have more information.

Every so often when LCing I get spotting/bleeding between periods but I just remind myself that it is because I am losing fat Grin

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 30/01/2015 10:49

I do have lowish blood pressure all the time, so it could have just been standing up quickly from deep sleep. I add lots of salt to my food though.

Thumbwitch · 30/01/2015 11:04

Damnation! I don't know if it was the milk in the coffee this morning or the bloody Pimms but I am 1lb up and all bloaty again!! Feck and arse. Angry at self.

NO MORE PIMMS THUMB!

Pisseslikeahorse · 30/01/2015 11:25

well done readyforno2, can I ask how your working out your target weight?

FurFoxAke · 30/01/2015 11:41

I haven't lost any weight so far ( got new scales Grin) and my jeans are a way off yet.

But... The first time I did this I didn't really lose at all until about week 8 ish. And then it just went.
So, I am going to be determined, careful and look at the bigger picture. I'm not weighing regularly, not measuring, just trying on those fucking jeans every week or so.
I'm already feeling the benefits of this WOE. I feel lighter, more awake, my stomach isn't messing me about or aching and has definitely gone down. My skin is also better.
So, remember everyone, bigger picture.
How do you feel, in your self right now? (Whether you have lost or not, whether you are craving at the moment or not?)
Keep on keeping on. Get through the bootcamp, give it and you a fair chance at this and, by Easter we can all look back and realise how far we've come. And will have beaten those carby fuckers!

Sorry if I've overstepped here, Blush only I've been there feeling despondent and I've also given in before. It doesn't make you feel any better giving up, trust me in that.

BlueberryHope · 30/01/2015 11:48

Hi All,
Everyone sounds like they're doing so well in spite of non-sleeping kids, blizzards, coffee mornings etc. Very inspiring. I have a vile cold and never usually get colds so am feeling v impatient with myself. Cracked last night but only regards fruit - had half a lemon squeezed into hot water with chopped garlic and ginger but no honey - hoping that is not too awful? Now Bootcampers, do advise on the Dreaded 30 Day Shred. Will it make me want to die? Am quite fit from all the walking with double buggy (4 miles a day) but this is not at all high intensity. Should I just be concentrating on the WOE at the moment? Hope everyone is feeling the will to get through the weekend without chocolate - I am going to keep in mind the Monday weigh-in and see if this helps! Good luck, chaps.
