Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

Met a lovely friend for lunch today, we both brought our own lunches and had a chat about carbs and sugar while I scoffed my fried chicken, egg, mayo and salad. Bought a greek yogurt but haven't felt hungry so it's in the work fridge for another day

D - thinking it will be some sort of fish with cheesy leeks and buttered greens, off to supermarket now

not craving sweet stuff at all, was pleased with myself but now having read above am worried it means my body is not switching, guess the scales will tell me on Monday

LexLoofah · 29/01/2015 20:08

Mrs Steve I suppose you could use oil, they look nice but seems like a bit of a faff and likely to fall apart. We make koftas with lamb mince maybe you could try that instead as fairly similar, you just make the mince mix with your flavour additions and then form around skewers and grill, suppose you could fry or bake too

Notso · 29/01/2015 20:11

Thanks miffy49 your post has spurred me on to not give in to the cravings. DH has been supportively munching my favourite cookies all evening and I was so tempted to eat one chocolate chip but I was strong and supped my green tea virtuously. I'm doing way better than last boot camp where I ate a Lindor a day Blush

Thanks to you LexLoofah for the recipe. I'll try them again.

ChesterDrawers · 29/01/2015 20:24

mrs steve, I think I put a recipe for donner kebab on the recipe thread last bootcamp. If you google slimming world donner kebab, the recipe should come up. I omitted the flour and used ful fat evereything and it is amazing.

CharlieSierra · 29/01/2015 21:14

I just did the microwave (singing) swede. It took bloody ages, and it wasn't massive, but I do have a fairly crap microwave. It was better than peeling & chopping though, so good tip thanks!

B - avocado, salt, olive oil, coffee with cream
L - 2 chicken thighs, green salad, big dollop hm Mayo, a marmite cheese bite
D - 2 black farmer sausages, swede mash, mixed buttery greens

SayraT · 29/01/2015 21:23

Just back from pole, was very hungry today but think that is because I didn't eat enough yesterday so I caved and stopped off at the supermarket for something cheap. I got pork belly so nice and fatty and cheap.

B: Bacon and eggs, coffee with cream
L: Courgetti with lime pepper
D: Pork belly slices, green beans swimming in butter
S: cucumber, pepper sticks, cheese, FF yogurt with cream

Almahart · 29/01/2015 21:54

A really successful day, in that I didn't snack at all!!

B Greek yogurt, BPC
L tandoori chicken, aubergine, salad
d ipg moussaka

I felt hungry by dinner time, but not starving raging hungry.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 29/01/2015 22:52

Snack - cheese and olives :)

MrsKoala · 30/01/2015 00:12

Disastrous trip to pils aborted. Had to take a detour and crash at my parents after 3hrs on the road and not getting very far. Ds slept the whole time, so the chance of sneaking him straight up to bed was nil.
now at mums with 2 babies awake with no hint of tiredness

fighting the urge to dive into the biscuit barrel.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 30/01/2015 00:54

Sorry to hear that MrsK massive congratulations for your will power under trying circumstances

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/01/2015 02:02

pisses well done your DS!

mrsK hope everyone is asleep now unlike here!!!!!

LexLoofah · 30/01/2015 02:21

Ended up getting monkfish for tea, wrapped it In prosciutto then pan fried and roasted 'twas lovely

Finally sitting down for the day and writing out possible meals for next week, am not feeling the slightest bit deprived or hungry. DH could not believe I bought pork scratchings and that they were 'allowed'

MrsK stay strong, hope you all get some sleep

Thumbwitch · 30/01/2015 02:47

MrsK - not sure whether to commiserate or congratulate you on missing out on the trip to PILs! Boo to your DSs being awake though, that sucks. Hope they've gone to sleep now.

DS2 is being painful going to sleep at night, especially when DH lets him go to sleep at 5:30pm! Angry - really messes with my evening. And I also still have my tax return to do! ARGH!

So today:
B - pint of fennel tea and a chunk of cheese; then a coffee out with friends (but had to have milk in it as the only cream they offered was whipped cream, which is out of a can and has added sugar)
L - 3 eggs squashed into mayo with garlic salt and grated cheddar, in iceberg lettuce wraps. Really enjoying this option!
D tonight will be butcher lamb sausages - probably not very low carb, but very yummy Blush with swede mash and cauliflower.

Mrsstevejones · 30/01/2015 03:45

Mrsk you are doing so well this week under trying circumstances! Next week is going to seem so easy in comparison! Not that, that helps now.

I keep repeating - next week will be the week that DS starts sleeping through, it sure as heck isnt this week - sigh

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 30/01/2015 06:56

Ate a slice of socially obligated bit of bread yesterday and have gained 3lbs. Slowly losing the will. Know it is entirely my own fault but my initial weightloss (Im 3/4 weeks in) is being gained bit by bit. Going to KOKO but have lost my enthusiasm.

Fatstacks · 30/01/2015 07:19

Good morning bCampers Smile

Flowers for Attitcus and MrsK

I have no idea what KOKO is but in my mind it's cocoa related!
DP and DS having a snow day today Hmm
DS can't help college being closed but I seriously doubt the Army is, I think DP just wants to eat all my carefully prepared lc snacks Angry

I was forced to stubbornly eat a yoghurt in bed by DP who laid with a massive box of gulyan on his chest.
Good job I was already being mardy because he wouldn't let soggy old dog sleep on our bed.

B. Smoked river cobbler with egg.
L. Salad
D. Courgette mushroom chicken zero noodles and cream.

Have a good un Smile

ChesterDrawers · 30/01/2015 07:19

Morning,

Yesterday was odd as I ended up with no tea. I'd got trout out of the freezer, but they were the boniest fish portions I've ever had and I am not good with bones. After half an hour plucking with tweezers I realised there was no way I was going to be able to eat the fish so I binned it and had a bowl of Brazil nuts and macadamias instead.

B: big fry up, BPC
L: not a lot as will be out
D: belly pork, courgette, leeks, mushrooms in butter

Beyond excited as I have just found a recipe for cauli tortilla wraps on Pinterest. I have been hankering for fajitas so now I know what's for tea tomorrow. I will report back if they are any good.

BIWI · 30/01/2015 07:23

Come on, Attitcus! You know the rules. You know the drill. Why did you eat a bit of bread? Socially obligated sounds like an excuse to me. You are sabotaging your efforts.

And as I kept having to tell you last time around, you seriously, seriously need to address your expectations of how much weight it's realistic for you to lose You've lost a lot so far, haven't you? How do you think it feels for all those who are only managing a pound or so a week?

If you lose the will/enthusiasm, what's going to happen? Are you going to start calorie-counting? Or are you just going to 'eat healthily'? And is that going to work?

Ask yourself:

  • are you enjoying your food?
  • do you feel like you're on a diet?
  • do you feel deprived?

At this stage, it's not unusual to start to feel deprived, as you realise that things like bread, pasta, rice, chocolate are all things that you can't have. So feeling deprived isn't unusual. But you have to keep focused on the hear and the now.

At this moment in time, and for the next few weeks you can't eat any of these things. BUT once you near/reach your target weight, you will be able to re-introduce them, albeit gradually and in moderation.

Just remember - these are the things that made you fat in the first place, which is why we are removing them from our diets

'hear and now'? WTAF?! Apologies. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet Grin

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 30/01/2015 07:26

Humm, am I eating enough fat?

B 2 egg omelette 1/2oz gouda with jalapeno
8 mushrooms 3 slices of back bacon ( tiny tiny rind)

L 4oz chicken 1 cup Broccoli & cauli tops ( hardly any stalks)
1 cup celery, green peppers chilli's, garlic, habanero pepper sea salt

D 8oz Mince beef (not lean) swede, celery, kale, celeriac, green peppers, spring onions broccoli cauli ( about 4 cups in total )

snack 1oz cheddar cheese on raw broccoli stalks sliced thin and sea salted.

Drink about 6 big mugs of black coffee during day and 5 big mugs of Chia tea after 6. Pint of boiled lemon water around lunchtime.

I brought a couple of good 60 or 70 pound non-stick non-Teflon frying pans for 80% off last year. So steam\saute most of the veg first then stir in the meat and chili / spices then cook almost stir-fry style.

The omelettes never stick only use 1/2a tea spoon of butter/coconut oil for mushrooms

is this too much carb/protein not enough fat?

Grah still obese but soon to be a fatty.

thank you

Grah

B 2 egg omelette 1/2oz gouda with jalapeno
8 mushrooms 3 slices of back bacon ( tiny tiny rind)

Why are you weighing and counting your food?! The whole point of Bootcamp is that you don't have to do that! Did you cook your omelette in butter? Why only half an ounce of cheese? Why tiny tiny rind on your bacon? And did you fry the mushrooms and bacon?

L 4oz chicken 1 cup Broccoli & cauli tops ( hardly any stalks)
1 cup celery, green peppers chilli's, garlic, habanero pepper sea salt

Agaoin - why weighing? And why 'hardly any stalks'? This is all very low carb, and also sounds like it's very low in fat. Was there skin on the chicken? Was it breast or thigh meat? How did you cook it all - there's no mention of any fat at all

D 8oz Mince beef (not lean) swede, celery, kale, celeriac, green peppers, spring onions broccoli cauli ( about 4 cups in total )

Hurrah for 'not lean' mince! At last a mention of some proper fat!

snack 1oz cheddar cheese on raw broccoli stalks sliced thin and sea salted.

Sounds good (although bleurgh to raw broccoli Grin)

Drink about 6 big mugs of black coffee during day and 5 big mugs of Chia tea after 6. Pint of boiled lemon water around lunchtime.

There is some controversy about caffeine and whether or not causes insulin spikes - you're drinking a lot of coffee here, so - even though you're drinking it black - I'd consider cutting this right back to half the amount.

I brought a couple of good 60 or 70 pound non-stick non-Teflon frying pans for 80% off last year. So steam\saute most of the veg first then stir in the meat and chili / spices then cook almost stir-fry style.

This sounds like you aren't frying very much. Steaming is a no/low fat way to cook so you don't want to be doing that on this WOE.

The omelettes never stick only use 1/2a tea spoon of butter/coconut oil for mushrooms

Why?! Fat isn't about food not sticking. You need to be eating a lot more than this. It's for flavour, nutrition and to satiate you as well.

is this too much carb/protein not enough fat?

Your carbs look fine, but your fat levels are definitely not high enough. Fry with oil or butter, add butter to your veg when they're cooked, add a salad with an oily dressing to one of your meals.

And stop weighing!

Have you read the rules of Bootcamp? Have you done any reading about low carbing? It's not about calories, or small quantities, or low fat. Quite the opposite!

... and how much water are you drinking?

OP posts:
yongnian · 30/01/2015 08:03

No time to update yest:
B: ff total dbl cream coconut oil and peanut butter
L: deluxe omelette with double cream, fresh Parmesan cooked in lots of butter and romaine lettuce
S: handful of smoked salted almonds
D: bolognese with green veg...mince and pancetta fried in butter oil and coconut oil, dbl cream stirred in and Parmesan over top.
