Week 2 - January Low Carb Bootcamp - the first moment of truth!

Good morning! Already seen that there are some good losses, even for those in the dreaded week 3 Grin

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this point in Bootcamp. It's such a leap of faith for so many people when they first start low carbing, because it seems so strange to eat all the fat we're told to eat. But then when the scales show the result, I love it!

er, ratios not rations - definitely not rations Smile

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 28/01/2015 14:39

Thanks chester I will try that
chipping no I'm not - will look now. How do you manage?

ChippingInLatteLover · 28/01/2015 14:43

Ehric. To be honest. With difficulty. It's limiting especially when you hate cooking. There are some fabulous recipes, but quite a bit if work. Also, it's trying to get enough fat & protein. I've got to go to work now, but jump on the thread and I'll speak to you later on. (If you click on low carb diets at the top of this page you'll find us easily x)

I too can identify with the posts above about feeling unaccountably teary and somewhat fragile. I'm trying to "sit with those feelings" like Blueberry said but it's hard! Too many years of smothering them with carbs ......

A bit fed up with the hormonal thing too. I'm 50 and was rather hoping periods were in my past not having had one since August - until today!

Still eating is all good and I managed 30 minutes walk in our lovely country park between showers.

Almahart · 28/01/2015 15:21

I posted before about how wierdly angry and anxious I felt over the weekend. I wonder if it is hormonal, it certainly feltike it. Am feeling v pleased that I don't seem to feel that hungry anymore. Its workingGrin

costababe · 28/01/2015 15:46

Thanks for the info reMFP, Lex and all,
I was using to check I'm eating enough fat, but I can see its a waste of time based on what you've said. So off the phone it goes!
Breakfast was two hb eggs and butter, lunch cheese cubes and a cold sausage with a glug of mayo, a bit of salad in the side, but today's star attraction will be spicy prawns on buttered spinach, canny believe I looking forward to the spinach as much as the prawns, as is my DS I have to say!
Both my boys absolutely love Spinach, eldest when about 5 wanted to spend his pocket money on 'a whole bag just for me!'

LexLoofah · 28/01/2015 16:12

costa spicy prawns and spinach sounds lovely. So funny about your 5 year old. I remember spending my pocket money on cucumbers, where did I go wrong? Should have stuck with that plan!

B- whole milk yog with glug of cream - only one egg left, just back from farmers market so all stocked up again now
L - smoked salmon, cream cheese & lettuce wraps, crunchy salad veg with boursin dip and leaves with oil and mustard dressing
D - fried chicken thighs, sauteed collard greens, possibly turnip chips

WireCat · 28/01/2015 16:40

Utterly desperate for chocolate.
I'm not due on so I've no idea why.
Will have a coffee with cream & lots more water.
Will be having my dinner soon anyway.

I will not give in to these cravings. I WILL NOT.

Apophenia · 28/01/2015 16:47

Me too wire. I'm cravings it so bad!!

lurkingmurking · 28/01/2015 16:57

Wire Apophenia DO NOT CRUMBLE!!!

MushroomTree · 28/01/2015 17:05

Anyone got a recipe for lamb ribs? Everything I've found is bbq sauce or has honey in it :(

Or are we allowed honey??

ChippingInLatteLover · 28/01/2015 17:21

Stay strong chocolate cravers. Don't cave in, you'll undo your hard work. LC is not forgiving of blips, especially early on. Eat something, eat as much as you need, as long as it's low carb. Eggs, cheese, yogurt, olives... Make sure you are getting enough protein & enough fat in your meals. You will adapt, the cravings will go as long as you don't deviate. 'Just a little' WILL hurt.

Water. Glug glug glug

ChippingInLatteLover · 28/01/2015 17:24

Costa. Children are weird aren't they! My niece will swap her soul for red peppers.

Mushroom. Absolutely not!! I don't eat meat so. Ant help, but have you seen the recipe thread?

BIWI · 28/01/2015 17:44

No you aren't allowed honey! Honey is sugar by any other name!!!

miffy49 · 28/01/2015 17:51

Come on you lot! Its half way through wk 2. By next Monday you can go BC Light if you choose and can have a few berries or a square of dark chocolate (if you choose to). You can make it through one more week! Grin

Willing to bet that by then you are thinking of staying on BC! LOL

miffy49 · 28/01/2015 17:56

Mushroom what about a spicy rub? I don't know if you have the IPD cook book but they have a selection of them in there. Don't even say the (whispers it) 'honey' word or Biwi will be in here like a ferret down a drain pipe to whack you with her stick! Grin

What about something with crushed mint or maybe go a bit Indian with cumin and coriander? Mixed into a splodge of oil and rubbed well into the skin.

WireCat · 28/01/2015 18:02

It's ok, didn't have anything. The craving has passed.
I built an enormous train track for my son instead!

MushroomTree · 28/01/2015 18:09

Thanks everyone.

A spicy dry rub it is!

ChippingInLatteLover · 28/01/2015 18:20

wire. Very cool!

Generally if you drink water & get busy the 'cravings' feck off. If not eat something with fat.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 28/01/2015 18:20

Such a sore throat and I nearly, mindlessly had a locket!
Dodged that bullet.

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 28/01/2015 18:34

My lunch was pate on celery and dinner will be chicken kebab with salad and garlic mayo. Been posting on the wrong thread today, doh. Blush

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 28/01/2015 18:35

Wirecat, ds2 was just so convinced you had nicked his bridge, he had to empty the box of brio to check it was there... Grin

MrsKoala · 28/01/2015 18:44

Hi All, I'm having trouble making pork scratchings, is it normal to ruin the baking tray when you make them? Because last week i made some and they stuck and took off loads of teflon and i ended up chucking the pan (old so no great loss) and most of the scratchings because they had black from the tray welded to them. Today i made them again and they also stuck to my new tray (not teflon but i oiled it well first) and i had to soak it in a dishwasher tab all day to dislodge the crusty stuck on bits (the scratchings were fine tho).

Also i think i'm going to have to cut back on cheese after next week (i will need to eat it at mils this weekend). i think i'm having too much :(

PseudoBadger · 28/01/2015 18:44

Any suggestions for pork fillet tonight? I know it's a bad BC cut but it's what we have...

LexLoofah · 28/01/2015 18:56

Pseudo we have one in the freezer too, am planning something like pork stroganoff with it or a stir fry perhaps rubbed with star anise first, pls post what you end up doing as might inspire me to defrost mine this weekend and use it up
