5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

BIWI · 21/07/2014 07:35

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

Morning all! Just stood on the scales (stupidly I know at this point) and I'm down from 11 stone 5 to 11 stone! Obviously this is probably all water, I sweated like crazy at a circuit class last night. It's given me a little boost but I'm going to try not to weigh again until Monday. Bacon and eggs on the menu for me this morning but that's as far as I've got. I'm about to look at the spreadsheet now to work out the rest of the day.

perrysands · 23/07/2014 07:43

Thanks Biwi, guess maybe a low veg egg foo yung may be an ok choice?

TurnOverTheTv · 23/07/2014 07:45

Morning all, 3lb down already, huzzah Grin
B-soft boiled eggs and kale
L- tuna mayo lettuce wraps
D- roast chicken salad with coleslaw.

Have a great day everyone, be strong!

StuntNun · 23/07/2014 07:56

Perry for Chinese I have salt and chilli ribs or wings for a starter then choose a main with meat and veggies that isn't too obviously sweet with a side of bean sprouts. Don't eat too much of the sauce and you'll be okay but as BIWI says you're into damage limitation. I go for beef, lamb or duck with green peppers or with mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Our local Thai is amazing for low carbs as it's meat and loads of low carb veggies in sauces that aren't too thick or sweet. It's probably our best option for takeaways actually.

trinitybleu · 23/07/2014 08:21

3lbs down :-)

TurnOverTheTv · 23/07/2014 08:22

I've been up for 30 mins now and feel very shaky, normal?

sniffysnifferson · 23/07/2014 08:24

Hi,
Bit late in adding my name but I've started low carbing since monday and finding it fab so far!

B. 2 egg omlette cooked in butter with mushrooms, courgette, couple of cherry toms and a dollop of mayo.
L. Roasted ham rolled with a spread of creame cheese and salad.
D.prawns cooked in garlic butter with veg and celeriac mash.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 23/07/2014 08:43

Morning all!

I'm feeling fabulously unbloated today. Love this feeling. I'm 4lb down already too.

Plan for today:

B- omelette
L- salmon salad
D- either chicken stir fry or mussels in garlic butter.

Have a great day everyone. I'm off to the gym! Smile

sniffysnifferson · 23/07/2014 08:48

Can I ask, is stirfry veg ok on low carb? beansprouts especially?

StuntNun · 23/07/2014 09:01

Beansprouts are on the carbier side but they're mostly water so you can have a handful without adding significantly to your carb count. Other stirfry veg that are good for Bootcamp or Bootcamp Light are pak choi, celery, mushrooms, green pepper and shallots.

BIWI · 23/07/2014 09:09

TurnOver - if you're feeling ropey now, on day 3, that's the carb flu kicking in.

Here's the drill:

  • plenty of water and lots of fat
  • you need salt - in cooking, on your food and also try drinking a hot drink made from Oxo/Marmite or Bovril
  • foods to seek out - spinach, avocado, salmon and - if you're not ubercamping - full fat natural yoghurt

It will pass in a couple of days, honest!

Plonkysaurus · 23/07/2014 09:27

Great see some losses already, I'm finding it very motivating.

These Deviled eggs that a few of us are enjoying are so good wrapped in bacon. I've just polished a few off from the batch I made yesterday and feel very satisfied.

I've a really busy day ahead getting my house square before we go away for the wedding/honeymoon. I can't bear the thought of coming back from a wonderful week to my dilapidated shack. So lots of DIY and gardening I the sunshine. This is my plan :

B- bacon & deviled eggs
L- leftover chicken with salady bits and mayo
D- sausages with more salad

I love that on this diet that's a pretty guilt free menu. The one time I tried weightwatchers I completely failed because I like to eat like this. I'm telling you BIWI £20 a month from a lot of satisfied customers....Grin

LingDiLong · 23/07/2014 10:39

Quick question, is quorn ok? I know it's not id

LingDiLong · 23/07/2014 10:40

Oops! It's not ideal because it's low fat but I could fry it in butter

Down to 151lbs today, have had a BPC and will have some eggs soon. :)

LingDiLong · 23/07/2014 11:59

Well done Buffy! You can do it!

StuntNun · 23/07/2014 12:12

Love it Buffy. Stay strong! The cake will still be there when you reach goal and you can relax a little bit.

BIWI · 23/07/2014 12:19

Brilliant Buffy! Stay strong! Grin

Personally I'd avoid Quorn like the plague. It's highly processed, very low fat and does have carbs.

But that's just me ... Grin

OK - I'm off out now for our annual company picnic. I have no idea what treats are in store although I have been assured that there will be Prosecco Hmm

I have made chicken satay so I know at least what's in that!
