I use a mix that I saw on the IPD forum. Not sure of quantities as I make it 'free-hand' now but its basically grated parmesan with dried oregano, parsley and paprika. Some people roll the chicken in melted butter before dipping it but I don't bother as rest of family are low fat (spit!) and it works ok. its tasty and keeps it moist.

For chicken breasts I do pizza chicken. I butterfly the breasts and cook in the oven until almost done then top with a mix of tinned tomato plus Italian herbs with a topping of grated cheese. That's nice if you are craving a pizza.

DoIneedhelp the Idiot Proof Diet cookbook has a couple of good rubs. I use their Cajun rub for chicken wings and you don't need very much of it to get a good flavour. I usually put the chicken in a freezer bag with some olive oil and the rub and shake it all up to coat. Sometimes I do a few bags together and stick some in the freezer for another day.

doineedhelp · 10/07/2014 19:34

All good suggestions, thanks. Is it worth getting the ipd cookbook?

CQ · 10/07/2014 21:47

Funnily enough I just ordered it last night, £5.71, including P&P, for a brand new copy on Abebooks.

Didn't know there was an IPD forum though, miffy - off to check it out.

miffy49 · 10/07/2014 23:27

CQ its Pig2Twig.

Hello all - sounds like people are doing well. So far, a good week for me, despite my business trip. Luckily people did not get upset with me eating the middle of sandwiches and leaving the bread.

Anyway, this morning, I weighed in at 200 lbs exactly, so I am really working on finishing Bootcamp below that, which would be great. People are noticing and saying nice things, which is great. I am still working on my water - struggling to get beyond 2.5 lts right now. I am tracking with an app which is certainly helping keep me honest and on track, but it shows me how little I can drink some days, just cause I get so engrossed in work. It is all about building new habits, isn't it?

For whole chicken I used this recipe and I can imagine easily forking for tights, it is basically marinating chicken in any of shop bought curry paste.
When I cook whole chicken like that I use chicken breasts/lgs for cold meat. Then I strip the rest of the meat from the carcass, cook some onion, add any veg which is allowed, use the juices collected at the bottom of the roasting pan too as they have masses of flavour. It would make very good family "one pot" curry anyway.

BIWI · 11/07/2014 07:10

Forking for tights?! Grin

antimatter · 11/07/2014 07:14

forking????? wtf Grin

what did I mean?

WORKING

doineedhelp · 11/07/2014 08:16

Grin thanks for that antimatter
I've only just started eating chicken after 24 years of not, i was getting bored of eggs and fish though and thought if this WOE is going to be it then i need other types of protein - so have lots of ideas now to try, thanks

B- 2 eggs scrambled with sliced chicken, tea with splash of milk
L - salad with oily dressing, avocado, tuna mayo
D - not sure yet
W - 3L

BIWI · 11/07/2014 08:59

Working for tights? That sounds even worse! Grin

I know - on thighs perhaps Grin
(hoping for a slim down effect of Patak's on my wobbly thigThs)

antimatter · 11/07/2014 22:14

I was laughed at when shared wit ha group of people that I am on low carb diet
(lesson learned Grin)

but I am even more determined to carry on as I can see the difference for my moods being calmer and better sleep

I probably mentioned somewhere that I have psoriasis and after reading on MN today about symptoms of deficiency wit D ordered some online

I've re-discovered how much flavour chorizo adds, so cooking it today with chicken created great lunch. I need to read labels though as I feel some of that flavour was too good to be true....

readyforno2 · 11/07/2014 23:22

I have been STARVING tonight..
B - a couple of teaspoons of ff yog, just wasn't really enjoying it.
L - courgette fried in butter with halloumi cheese
D - butternut squash chips, 2 bacon rashers, lettuce
S - 2 bacon rashers and more halloumi

At least 5 pints of water and a 500ml bottle.

BIWI · 12/07/2014 13:47

I'm not surprised, readyforno2 - you're hardly eating anything!

I'm thinking of doing a 5 week strict Bootcamp, from Monday 14 July.

Plan would be:

Week 1 - ubercamp (i.e. strict bootcamp and no dairy)
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

What do you reckon? Sound reasonable? Anyone else want to join?

(Obviously there will be a general, ongoing chat thread for those who don't want to)

BIWI · 12/07/2014 15:33

Hmm. Just realised that's next week Blush Just don't know where the time is going!

Anyway, happy to start it on Monday if anyone is up for it?

Hi I have been following this for a week and have only lost two pounds. I thought you lost lots in the first week and then it slowed down. I am not sure if I am eating too much fat or not enough food.

Yesterday I had

2 eggs with Mayo for breakfast and 3 slices streaky bacon

1 babybel and earl grey tea with no milk

Half a tin corned beef, 60g mozzarella and some leeks fried in butter

1 salmon fillet wrapped in Parma ham and spinach cooked in butter

And I drunk 2.5 litres of water.

When I weighed on Thursday I had lost 5lbs but today I am only down 2lb from original and feel bloated

I am 200lbs so thought I would lose more initial especially as had v high carb diet before

Please can anyone tell me where I am going on.

I haven't had my ketostix delivered yet but I feel lightheaded, not very hungry and have metallic taste in mouth so I think I am in ketostix

Please help! I am on the verge of giving up

Pisseslikeahorse · 12/07/2014 16:14

BIWI - If its ok to go quite for a week in the middle (on holiday) I would love to do another 5 wk session.

antimatter · 12/07/2014 16:21

Lovemychocolate you need to drink at least 3.5 l of water. I am similar weight and can confirm that this is very important.
I would add more fat to this menu.

HolgerDanske · 12/07/2014 16:22

Love my chocolate I think you need to drink a lot more water. Also you don't always see the loss straight away. Sometimes it takes a few weeks.

antimatter · 12/07/2014 16:23

I am up for many more weeks Biwi Grin

miffy49 · 12/07/2014 16:27

I'm in Biwi. Just set a batch of yoghurt off but it should keep OK while I do a week of Uber.

readyforno2 · 12/07/2014 16:49

I'm on holiday next week.
I'll join you on the 21st if that's ok?

I'm struggling with eating. Just not hungry during the day. Like today, I wasn't hungry at breakfast, had 4 slices of corned beef with cheese and a salad with mayonnaise.
Haven't really thought about dinner yet although I did buy a Camembert and veggies for dipping so that will make an appearance I'm sure.
Not sure when the dc will be home so might have a snack now.

Pisseslikeahorse · 12/07/2014 17:05

Lovemychocolate 2 lbs is a good loss.

But to start we all did bootcamp proper for a couple of weeks, have a look at BIWI's week1 guidelines
