doineed help - you may not need to give it up forever! Just try a few days without it and see what happens.

And almond milk should be fine, because it's not dairy! Just check the carbs first, so that you know how many you're having.

BIWI · 08/07/2014 19:59

CQ - brilliant! And glad that your DH is being a bit nicer. It must be a real period of adjustment for both of you, so I can imagine it would be hard.

Supermum - there will be another Bootcamp, although I'm not sure quite what form to make it. I'm going away on 22 August, so I might do a shorter, possibly stricter one?

I'm just finishing off the last of the total yogurt and cream for dinner can't be arsed cooking as I'm in a bad mood so will start tomorrow with no dairy. Wish me luck!

Thanks all

BIWI · 08/07/2014 21:01

is getting harder and harder for me to keep this diet Smile
I need to regroup my head and motivation!

BIWI · 08/07/2014 22:43

What's the difficulty for you, antimatter?

OP posts:
trashcanjunkie · 09/07/2014 00:50

2lbs off, after my 10lbs off in one week, then seven week sts. Grin Brilliant work pisses I am continuing with bc proper even after this week. Always up for another BIWI Thanks so much for everything Thanks

antimatter · 09/07/2014 06:01

My difficulty is my personality where I hate planning, leave even making sure that I have enough right type of food to the last minute

being an extrovert I react to everything emotionally and for instance get drawn into discussions on the internet (not on this site on this occasion), get emotional and then bang - reach out for carbs

I think I need counseling around my relationship between emotions, boredom and filling those gaps with food

I really like my job and try to do my best, then take criticism very badly and turn to carbs for comfort

I need to change habits and find replacement for carbs, ideally it should be something what can be "applied" on my wounded soul equally fast Grin

however perhaps better would be not taking everything personally as I do

StoneTheFlamingCrows · 09/07/2014 08:35

Biwi - you could do an uber camp, no dairy, no caffeine, no booze, no sweeteners, all the usual suspects that stall people.

Also must exercise, must drink 3l water/day etc...

lowcarbforthewin · 09/07/2014 09:59

Anti I'm very introverted/emotional too, food is a huge crutch and I am left flailing without it.

Andrew Johnson does a great emotional eating app which I can recommend. I also recommend Paul McKenna's Havening technique. You can find it on YouTube. I haven't used it lots but have heard v good things about it.

doineedhelp · 09/07/2014 11:12

so here goes my first day without dairy...

B-mushroom and chicken omelette fried in lots of butter, tea with almond milk
L - salad with oily dressing, avocado and tuna mayo
D - tuna steaks cooked in coconut oil, asparagus and courgette with flavoured butter
3L of water, couple of coffees with almond milk if needed

doineedhelp · 09/07/2014 11:15

i could kill for a cake / biscuit but i think this is just my emotional response to feeling that i'm cutting out lots of things and depriving myself, i need to get through today without caving and i'll be fine (not so good when working from home with the kitchen at such close quarters!!!)

antimatter · 09/07/2014 13:42

lowcarbforthewin - thanks for that recommendation
I run out of space on my mobile and need to waoit for the delivery of memory card
I'll have look at McKenna's videos later on

Pisseslikeahorse · 09/07/2014 14:22

Good pic CQ, well done to you and trashcanjunkie, yep Im sticking around... got a few more to shift before I'm happy.
And in saying that, Thank you BIWI Thanks and yes more... please Grin

Things a bit odd in the pissy-sphere at the moment, been very up and down and not sleeping well. But as of this morning my bloods came back and they're excellent across the board, you could see the stress related steam blowing out of my ears.
Had a bit of an issue with the doctor (not my usual) not wanting to give me a copy of my results arsehole but with a bit of gentle persuasion and having to agree that I wouldn't look it up on google double idiot arsehole , caved in.

B. Yogurt
L. 3eggs salad mushrooms
D. pork chop & pak choi

Pisseslikeahorse · 09/07/2014 17:13

pardon my ranting everyone just a bit annoyed that a young medic can be so blinkered, probably trained to be as such. If only they could all be as patient understanding and communicative as my regular GP.

hope everyones doing well today - sending positive whoosh vibes to you all Smile

pingufan · 09/07/2014 19:15

Hi all, still trundling along, I'm finding this WOE totally natural now, my shopping has adapted so there's always something in the house that I can eat. Eating out is the only worry. I've been invited to a Chinese Friday and not sure what I will eat.

Something I'm finding is I'm not very hungry in the evenings. I usually just have a little chicken or cheese with some cucumber and pepper sticks or like tonight where I'd put a joint of pork in the slow cooker all I've eaten is some pulled pork. I can't believe how my portions are now, I used to eat dinner plates of pasta and feel hungry an hour later!

We are away on holiday in ten days time, two weeks self catering so I should be ok for breakfast and am planning on lots of fresh salads, fish, grilled meat. I will be having wine though, trouble is two glasses nowadays and I'm wobbling! I must resist the rubbishy food then!

readyforno2 · 09/07/2014 19:39

Bugger! 1lb on.
Need to tighten the reins I guess..
B - ff yog with double cream
L - portobello mushroom and scrambled egg
D - mince with mushrooms
S - corned beef 'sandwich' with cheese and lettuce, mayo

I'm definitely going to carry on with bc after this week although going on holiday next week so may struggle a little.
I'm trying to tell myself that it's because it's night time and I usually weigh in the morning but I think that's an excuse!!

HolgerDanske · 09/07/2014 21:31

For Chinese, I usually go for crispy duck and pancakes because it's mainly duck. Then you can make a mindful choice about whether a few rice pancakes will be ok. Because I don't often go out I am happy to have some. Sometimes I have a tiny drizzle of hoisin sauce but that is obviously very sweet so sometimes I skip it. The duck on its own with the cucumber and spring onion is actually really lovely.

I also always have a bit of some saucy dish even though I know it will have sugars and that in it, I just try to mainly eat the meat and veg and leave most of the actual sauce. If I'm going to have rice I will only have a tablespoon or so of it. I find that a few bites is usually enough to scratch the itch...

If there is a side dish of broccoli with garlic and soy sauce then I always have that as it's so delicious.

HolgerDanske · 09/07/2014 21:35

I know what you mean about serving sizes, pingu. I eat much smaller dinners now. And I also used to eat one serving of pasta for dinner and then plate up another helping for about an hour later when the hunger would strike again. Shocking to think of it now, isn't it.

BIWI · 10/07/2014 07:56

pingu - one thing to look out for is lettuce wraps - usually a mixture of pork, mushrooms and other veg with iceberg lettuce leaves to wrap it in.

OP posts:
HolgerDanske · 10/07/2014 08:15

Ohhhh yes love that! Wouldn't mind a bit of that just now.

doineedhelp · 10/07/2014 08:53

so day 1 sans dairy went well, had lots of urges to raid the biscuit jar but resisted!

B - 2 eggs, chicken lots of butter, cup of tea
L - salad with oily dressing, avocado, tuna may
D - roast chicken thighs, salad or veg
W - 3L

doineedhelp · 10/07/2014 10:55

what do others do to their chicken thighs to make them tastier - any rubs / marinades etc that others would recommend? thanks....

HolgerDanske · 10/07/2014 12:15

There are loads, but the quickest easiest one that I use is this:

Chicken legs into tray, good healthy glug of olive oil onto them and sprinkle liberally with all-Seasoning spice mix, cut a couple onions into wedges, smash 3 or 4 garlic cloves, add these to the tray and give it all a good mix. If I'm making it for dinner rather than cooking up a batch for snacking on i will usually add courgette, peppers, and a few tomato wedges or a handful of cherry tomatoes.

Soo good and eats very well cold from the fridge.

HolgerDanske · 10/07/2014 12:16

I usually use chicken drumsticks but it works just as well for legs or thighs.
